If you have natural long nails- BEWARE. I have been growing my nails out since December. They *were* long, with a lovely rounded shape. I have been meticulous about caring for them since it's the first time in my 30+ years that I've ever had long natural nails. I've spent hours researching the best base coat, polish, top coat, tools, hand lotions, dietary supplements etc. Besides it being an investment of my time, I've also invested financially by buying these products. It was a source of pride for me- it's taken a lot of work but I had them at the perfect length and I was really pleased.
Today I went to Vo's with a girlfriend. We had pedicures done first and then we had manicures. When we sat down I told the woman I did not want the length changed. I had one nail on one hand that had lost the tip about a month ago, so while still long it was not as long as the others. However, I'm the only one that would really notice this. I was waiting for it to grow out to match the others, but it was not a huge difference. I even pointed it out to her and said it was fine as it was and said just to leave them all the way they are- do not change the length. They literally just needed painted.
So she begins buffing them and I have my head turned talking to my friend. As she was on the fourth nail I noticed that she was filing down the length! I stopped and asked her what she was doing. She said she was shaping them and that they were shorter than the other hand (only the one was a smidge shorter- which we had already discussed). They were a natural rounded shape when I went in. She filed them down and made them square! I literally have no words. My friend just sat there with her mouth hanging open not even believing it because she had heard me say not to shorten their length. When I held up both hands side by side you could see she filed down the length by HALF. I had said not to shorten them and she did, drastically, and I had never asked for them to be shaped into a square- since I never wanted them to be square.
When comparing the length now to pictures I took on February 6th, they are shorter now than they were 6 weeks ago. Anyone that has grown, or has tried to grow, their natural nails knows how long it takes to get any length on them. In 5 minutes she erased 6+ weeks of nail growth.
The woman doing my nails knew I was very unhappy, but I just tried to focus on my friend and not let it ruin our day catching up with each other. At that point there wasn't anything that could be done, and I wasn't going to act like a jerk about it. At the end she did say that "there must have been a miscommunication" and offered me 20% off.
After sitting under a dryer for 30 minutes and after having them put a quick dry product on them, I put on my sweater and 2 of my nails smudged. She had me sitting under a black light dryer with regular polish. I'm not sure if that's what you should do, I've always used a fan or blow dry for regular polish. She did fix it, but then I had to sit there for another 30 minutes- this time in front of a fan.
I won't be back, and would recommend anyone with naturally long nails NOT go here for a manicure.
I'm extremely disappointed in my experience. And while the world has bigger problems than the length of my nails, when I go to a nail salon and ask for a service I do believe it's reasonable to expect to get what you ask for. Now when I look at my nails I'm just really disappointed. I genuinely feel like they were ruined today. Read Less
