Staff are nice but terrible place for nails. I used to go to Asian places for my nails, Good service and inexpensive. But It took around 3 hours for them to do my gel in this salon. Even they didn't know how to soak off my old gel. And the gel was terrible too. They charge me 42$ for that! That was ridiculous! Read Less

I don't know what to say... I made an appointment, two actually, with Josh (jr.) to get my hair trimmed for a special event. He suggested I come in as soon as possible to see what I had going on, then make a second appointment to get it just right. So I show up for the first appointment and he does an initial trim. Fairly good job, I'll admit. I make the follow up appointment for the final cut (which is 3 days before I have to leave for the event), and think everything is fine. 1/2 hour before my second appointment, I get a text that my appointment was cancelled. No reason given, no follow up, no rescheduling. I called twice to find out what's up, but no one would answer the phone. So I'm just stuck with the initial trim. I'll be heading back to my $6 barber and have her cut it. At least I know she'll be there when she says she will. I'd steer clear of this place, there are far too many salons in the area to waste your time on poor customer service. Read Less

Me, my daughter and my boyfriend all go to J Ladner and we have seen everyone from the owner Joshua to Junior, Wyatt and Jasmine. We all LOVE our hair and the atmosphere is unique and welcoming! I saw one reviewer remark about her "age" as she was older. I am 51 as is my boyfriend and they have ALWAYS welcomed us with hugs and warmth! What a fantastic experience! I felt so good leaving this salon and would come back in a heart beat! The salon is extemely chic and hip but not intimidating. The staff makes you feel super comfortable. Mr. Ladner was my stylist as well as the owner and he was amazing! His passion and excitement for hair made me feel excited about my own hair! I had a bayalage and cut which I am extremely picky about my hair and was over the moon when I left. No tears were shed except tears of joy! I was so very excited when my daughter bought me a gift certificate for this spa. i had been talking about this place for awhile. I was so disappointed. My hair was ok but for the $120 it was nothing better than what I pay $80 for. The stylist took pictures and of course they all raved about how great it looked. I did not make it on their facebook page. I do believe that my age had a lot to do with it. Or maybe they decided I was not a worthy customer for other reasons. My daughter and I decided to give it another try but when I called back several months later to make appointments the receptionist was rude. I asked for a specific day and she said there were no appointments available then and basically hung up on me. I still feel that they do not care to have customers that are older. Read Less

This review is only for Pedicures. The salon was open, nicely decorated, and I saw a man getting his haircut who looked very pleased! So please note, this review is only for the pedicures.But as someone who regularly gets pedicures, I have to stay, customer beware of this salon for nail services! I have never gone somewhere for a pedicure and felt the nervousness of the nail technician as I did in this salon. She looked awkward holding the nail clippers, and uncomfortable removing my polish (should her own nail polish be ruined)-- she clipped my toenails so that the ends were jutting out. In the first 30 minutes, she was only able to remove the polish from one foot, while the other soaked the entire time! She was still trimming the nails, and awkwardly attempting to work on my cuticles. I felt bad, but for the sake of my feet, I asked her if she felt comfortable giving pedicures because she seemed uncomfortable, and it was definitely making me uncomfortable. And her response was that she was licensed and trained in all areas, which did not explain her level of poor performance. I have never walked out of a pedicure. Never. I have traveled and had pedicures in countries where I didn't even speak the language-- this was the first truly awful pedicure of my life. So customer, beware. While everyone seemed very kind, nice, and amenable, I would strongly reconsider before booking your next pedicure here. Read Less

I just had my second cut and style with Joshua.  He is quite good with the scissors, and truly wants you to be happy when you leave. I mentioned that I was having trouble controlling my weird curl at the ends of my hair.  Joshua's solution was to give me a lesson in using the round brush more effectively.  I have NEVER had a stylist give me a hands on lesson!  My first cut maintained its shape for eight weeks, and I am just as happy with cut number two! The salon is very friendly and welcoming.  Prices are comparable (and in some cases, cheaper) than other high end salons in the Dayton area.  I also love that it is located in downtown Dayton as opposed to the south suburbs.  Metered street parking was easily available in front of the building.  I plan on coming back for other services, soon!
