This place is a hidden gem!! Mara gave me the best hair cut of my life. She asked me specific questions about the style (texture, length, bangs, ends) to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. I got a wash, cut, blow out, and style for $45. Also, they are focused on environmental welfare and sustainable practices. An all around great business. Wonderful experience. I was visiting Columbus and happened upon this salon. First-the place is adorable. Such a cool interior. Second-justin is amazing. He is a great stylist and a really cool person. I went to Jekyl and Hyde on April 19th, I got my hair bleached and colored purple with Stylist Nicole Brown. We talked during the procedure of bleaching she asked if I had ever bleached my hair before I said no I had not. She applied the bleach and wrapped with tin packets and put me under the dryer to speed up the process. At some point she checked a packet and said a couple more minutes. During that moment there was a  spillage of the hot bleach onto my head, as I've never bleached my hair before I could not tell if it was just the foil moving or if something was wrong. After a minute of burning I alerted Nicole to the burning on my scalp. Which after slowly removing the tin foil and washing the spot numbed itself from shock.At no time did she alert me of the severity of the burn just proceeded to finish the coloring. I am not one to complain, but the ending result is I now have a quarter sized burn scar on my scalp where no hair will ever grow from the chemical burn I endured. I gave it time to heal to see if it would grow back, and if it had the potential to grow I wouldn't even writing this review. I wish I would have known ahead of time I would be paying almost $400 to be maimed by a professional with a decade of experience under her belt.Best wishes and next time there is a hot bleach spill on a spot that is hard for your client to see ...  perhaps you should tell your client to hit the burn center asap instead of saying nothing.Clearly this stylist was more interested in ensuring her tip and pretending nothing happened then a client's well-being. I was passing through Columbus and was in desperate need of a haircut. Since it was longer than usual, I was going to try something different with my hair. I'm not going to give you some antiquated old-school "I'm a man and men keep their hair short simple" load of bs. However, I've kept my hair clean and manageable and am deathly afraid of change. I communicated all of my thoughts and fears about my hair to Justin in what must have been a mess of a word salad. He took it in stride and produced probably the best haircut I've ever received. Seriously. I now get all those cliche movie scenes where someone walks into the salon as an ugly duckling, and comes out looking like they just stepped off the set of a Pantene shampoo commercial!Aside from the cut, Justin was probably one of the nicest people I've met in my travels. Seriously. I was in a rut that day and the dude just mellowed it out. Some people provide good customer service as part of their job, and then some are just all around great people who'd treat you kindly not because it's their job, but because they are authentically kind. Just wanted a trim and to bring up my balayage i got from my old salon in WI maybe7/8 months ago and it didn't go as planned...ended up looking choppy and SUPER bright blonde (I have medium brown hair) and he had to re-tone it twice after that to just get it to look close to the hue I still had from my last balayage. I felt like a zebra with it originally being so blonde there was not a lot of blending . Now it just kinda looks like I haven't given my roots any attention from an old dye job, but was better than it originally came out. Justin was very nice and tried to make sure I was happy- I just don't think he initially listened to what i wanted out of my balayage appointment and I wasn't impressed with his balyayage technique. I was lucky enough to find this little gem shortly after Angie (the proprietor) opened and have been with her since. I watched it grow from a couple of seats to a larger salon with the spa downstairs and I've tried not only the hair services on a regular basis but also the nail salon and love it all. Bummed. I called, no answer. Walked in, was told to book appointment online. Booked an appointment online for the following day for 2:15. Got there on time and i was told that i would need to come back later in the day so we settled on 4:30. Came back in and saw the stylist just starting to wash someone's hair. After sitting there for half an hour waiting without being spoken to once, i finally just decided to leave. I was disappointed that nobody called or texted me, they had my number on file. This was a few days ago and they still haven't reached out. There's a lot of other competition on High St. right in this area, so i guess i'll take my business elsewhere.Read Less

I did nails here on the Saturday Gel $30 Special. I have been doing gel for a long time, but this was my first place in Columbus. I grabbed two nail polishes, but the lady said that if she paints two of my nails different color (fyi the whole nail, there are not any art or drawing or anything) that is considered nail art and she will have to charge me differently. This makes no sense, obviously. I was thinking to myself how would she decide which color was 'art'. Probably the one she paint on 3 out of 5 nails, since ot is charged per nail. Makes no sense. That was my first dissapointment. I obviously chose only one color. Then it was dead silence, until i told her that my nails got weaker from gel. She got all defensive, and insisted on me telling her where i did my nails, and if i did it with Asians they probably scraped my nails and distroyed them. I felt super uncomfortable. Not to.mention that both of my salons in Chicago and New Orleans were outstanding, and the whole another category compared to this. And one salon was Polish and the other Vietnamese. Thus, my second dissapointment when she started talking really bad about Asian salons. Finally, everything was super rushed. And the painting was so poorly done. It made me sad. I find the new space to be "urban chic", stylish and comfortable. I see stylist Jessica Broadwater who I find incredibly talented and intentional with her work. I feel like she approaches each visit as a project with a true consultation to discover what I'm looking for and is also willing to share her professional opinion (I love that!). Aside from her talents, I always find her welcoming, and kind hearted in her approach and energy. I have happily recommended her to friends and look forward to my appointments!
