I will definitely come back here. My husband has been urging me to get my hair cut at a “real salon” for years and I finally did it. I’m so glad I did. The receptionist gave me a short tour when I got there. My stylist (Rachel) was “new talent” but that’s fine. She took her time and when she wasn’t sure of what she was doing, she asked for help. I found out while Rachel was shampooing me that the woman she asked for help from was the owner, Marianne. Marianne was very available for guidance. Rachel thanked me for my patience, but I would MUCH rather have a newer stylist ask for help than be afraid to ask and do what I *didn’t* want. I go see Alex for my hair and if not Alex then Chelsea for waxing my eyebrows. Both women are beautiful, easy to talk to and am absolute pleasure to see. The ladies at the front desk always make me feel welcomed. They have a coat room and complimentary ice water, hot water for tea and coffee. They also have a nail salon and a product area where you can buy the products that your person uses on your hair / nails / make up. They also have a little station with blow dryers for those that would rather blow dry their own hair. I have been coming to Michael Christopher for about 3.5 years. I got my hair cut by Amanda and I love it! She was so wonderful and adapted 3 pictures to give me the style I wanted. I cut off 12 inches to donate to Wigs for Kids and she checked in with me multiple times making sure I was okay with the drastic change. I have been coming to MC salon for years and their staff and services are amazing. Today I had a one hour facial and eyebrow wax with Summer Peterlin. She is great. I booked an appointment for a dual exfoliation facial with a dear friend, Summer Peterlin yesterday. When I arrived I was greeted immediately by the front desk. I arrived early to my appointment and was taken on time, offered a beverage and introduced to Summer's co worker Chelsea and she was just as delightful as everyone else I spoke with. I had an amazing experience and my face feels great! I didn't even wear any makeup on my face today except for some mascara! My face feels soft and bright, not the least bit dry. I came here for the first time for a cut and style and instantly fell in love with the salon and Rachel! Everyone on staff is so kind and helpful! From remembering my name when I came in for a color a few weeks after my first visit to offering to get me something to drink while I waited, I felt very welcome. As a first time client you also get a really nice gift bag, which is a perk. Scheduling has also been a breeze and have been able to schedule all of my appointments less than a week out, which is so amazing. Rachel has also been a great stylist and really listens to me and provides wonderful options to help me when I can't decide exactly what I want (which is almost all the time). Went in for a cut for the first time and this is definitely going to be my regular place! When I set up the appointment, I was told my stylist would be Gilda, who was simply fantastic! She listened to what I wanted and what I was going for, and talked through some options with me to find something that suited my lifestye (i.e., will let me roll out of bed and get out the door with minimal fussing), hair type, and face shape. My hair looks so beautiful! She also mentioned some products I might like but was not at all pushy (which is good - most of the time I want to give them a try but my wallet begs me not too!).When I first arrived I filled out a new client form with basic information and got a tour of the facility - where the retail stuff was, where the snack and beverage table was located, where each of the services takes place (they have separate areas for color, manicures, pedicures, cutting, and washing), and where both bathrooms were. It was a nice touch that I've never gotten before. Once I was done and checked out, I also received a new member gift, a sample Aveda product and some coupons/complimentary services. My mom has been bringing me to Michael Christopher's since I was a little girl. She goes every month and trusts no other salon. I always enjoy to see Heather when I go. She has done my hair for years from haircuts, hair color and she always did the best up-dos. They even have fabulous people that do your scheduling. Monica is always so sweet and pleasant. Been a regular at MCS for 10+ years, and I cannot say enough good things about it! I see Carly for my cuts and colors , and she is amazing and really takes the time to make you feel like you're a priority. I've had other stylists for blowdrys and updos, and have never had a bad service- Alex and Jamie are excellent too!Pedicures are hands down the best in town-bar none. They aren't cheap but so worth the cost. They offer buddy pedicures which allow you to have a private pedi experience with a friend- my favorite gift to everyone, always a hit!They do book up very quickly so I always schedule months in advance. I also try to go on Friday afternoons because the salon is fairly quiet and feels relaxing. Saturdays are super busy and I feel more rushed on those days, so I no longer schedule in that day. The first time I came here (highly recommended by a friend - I just moved back to Cleveland after 8 years) I went to Amy Police for cut/color. She was SO sweet, fixed my outdated ombré and perfectly matched my original hair color (it now looks like virgin hair but better) and got rid of all my fried ends without making me feel like I was chopping my hair off. My blowout also lasted for days! Just came back for a brow wax, bikini wax and pedicure to prepare for an upcoming trip to Miami. Chelsea did the wax - turns out, you can actually enjoy yourself during a bikini wax! She made me feel relaxed right away and got me to talk to distract me from the (unavoidable and totally expected) pain - but in a way that wasn't forced. She is so disarming and friendly that I just chatted away! It should be emphasized here that I haaaaate small talk, especially during spa services, so this is a huge deal to me. Everything looks fantastic too! Carey did my pedicure. She indulged my request for a glitter topcoat over a metallic polish and led me back to a small, private room where I could relax in a chair all by myself. All of the Aveda products she used felt amazing, especially a cooling blue mud treatment that she applied to my feet with a paintbrush before wrapping them in hot towels. By the time she came back 15 minutes later my feet were tingly and brand new. I will be happily driving the 30 minutes from Cleveland Heights for these services in the future and feel confident that I can try anything in the menu here worry-free. If anyone in the Cleveland area asks me for a salon or spa recommendation, I know what I'll be saying! Having recently relocated to Cleveland, I was looking for a quality salon for my color and cuts.  I was very pleased with Paulette and how she was able to get my slightly red hair to a golden blonde.  It was exactly what I wanted.  I had my hair cut by Christa and she did a pretty good job although there isn't much I do with cuts.  Yes, it was a little pricey and since everything is localized, it got pricey tipping everyone.  All in all, a good experience and i will be going back in six weeks for touch ups. I had to write this review.  I had my very first pedicure at Michael Christopher.  I also wish I hadn't because every pedicure after it hasn't met the standard that Michael Christopher Salon has set. I can't remember who did my pedicure.  But it was extremely relaxing, thorough (especially with my callouses), and the pedicure lasted for over a month!  I eventually took it off with nail polish remover!The hair care I've received there has been alright.  Nothing crazy good but nothing terrible either.Definitely want to get my pedicures there. I've been going to Michael Christopher Salon for about five years.  I get my hair cut from Wendy and have an occasional manicure and pedicure.  They do book up fast sometimes.  I love my hair cuts from Wendy.  She is so sweet, always does a great job, and is never scissor happy.  Their hair cuts are a bit pricey, but well worth it and comparable to similar salons.  The manicures and pedicures are reasonably priced.  I've had good experiences there with all of the services I've had.  The only issue is the front desk staff sometimes seems like I'm bothering them, but they could just be overwhelmed because it gets very busy in there.  I also love that they use Aveda products and always have coffee and water with fruit in it. My hair cut was nothing like I explained, nothing like the stylist said she will do, and last but not least nothing like the picture she made me find in one of their magazines. When I wanted to inform the lady at the front desk that I am not happy with the service she was extremely rude. I told her this is not what I asked for and her reply was: ""That's not what your stylist said."" I guess I was hoping that just like any other place they would like to fix their mistake. I've been going to MCS off and on for around 10 years or so. I'll go for the occasional eyebrow waxing, pedicure, and manicure. When I need professional make-up (and not the crap that I slather on myself) I'll go see Angela. She does most of the other services besides hair - waxing, facials, make-up, pedicures. I had a facial (no, not THAT kind of facial - har har) and spa pedicure with her a few days before I gave birth last year and it was pretty amazing. Very relaxing and just what I needed before the workout of my life. It's been years since I've had a haircut here so I can't say much from a personal experience in that regard. However, everytime I'm there I see some really hot looking haircuts.I will say this, they are pricey. I chalk that up to the products they use (Aveda) and because they really keep up on education. The ladies that work here are constantly going to training/education classes and really know their stuff when it comes to modern trends - if you're into that sort of thing. Another downside to MCS is that it can be hard to get an appointment at a moments notice. That's nearly impossible here. So be sure to call at least a month ahead of time to get in when you need to. This spa transitioned me from folically negligent student to sleek maned yuppie. Jamie worked with me to develop a fantastic color & cut-- edgy and fun for the weekends, but tame enough for business settings. Mad props to Jamie. I recommend her 150%.The client relations, though, were less than stellar. I was a regular at MCS for about a year and a half, but my last experience left me with a sour taste in my mouth. I decided not to go back. After booking my appt 4 weeks in advance -- because you can't get an appointment any sooner -- I got held up at work and was 45 minutes late for my appointment. I had called ahead and informed them of my tardiness. Instead of telling me then that I couldn't get a color treatment (which I was more interested in than the cut) they told me upon arrival, and then informed me that I would have to wait another 4 weeks before they could fit me in. They did not seem interested in working with me to find an alternative. They were unsympathetic and seemed to make no effort. They flat-out refused to give me the color to take to another saloon where my hair could be fit in for emergency attention.Bottom line: while the color and cut were great at MCS, the prices were high and I did not receive the required personal attention to justify that premium. Nobody is particularly rude or anything, but by the same token, none of the staff are particularly helpful or friendly either. I have changed hair stylists a couple of times and never had a great cut. I think it is time for me to move on and try somewhere else. My advice - look elsewhere before giving this place a chance. Hair cuts are a VERY personal and emotional event, so when choosing a salon, I am not suprised some people don't like Michael Christopher. HOWEVER, After living in the Cleveland area 10 yrs and trying several salons, I finally found my ""home"". Michael Christopher is clean, fast paced and has a young feel, though I've seen women and men of all ages there. They seem to be on top of the latest hair styles and trends. Marianne Nicolli, the founder is who I chose my first time and I was exceptionally pleased. She is highly in demand and very busy, so sometimes after our initial greeting she seems preoccupied, but that doesn't bother me. I know I get an excellent cut every time. I have had several others in the salon do my hair and my 2 daughters hair as well and I think each person has been very good. We were very happy they could accomodate us & because it was my first cut there they gave me a complimentary eye brow wax. The cuts were great, the staff was nice, and the salon called me the following week (long distance) to 'check up' on my cut and my experience at the salon. I tried this salon 3 times. I never felt quite comfortable. Each time, I approached the receptionist to let her know I was there, and she looked at me like I was crazy.
