Very disappointing experience at Spruce. I was in from out of town, and my friend had booked appointments for us the day before her wedding. I checked online and saw that they did gel removals, so I wasn't worried about my partially chipped gel manicure from my normal shop back in LA, so I went in and told them I needed to have my gels removed and that I had an acrylic tip on a nail that had broken. Immediately, one of the women in the shop said that they could not help me, because it was a "toxin free" shop. I said that I was there with a wedding party and didn't want to leave, and that I was actually officiating the wedding and needed my nails done, desperately. I offered that I could chip off the remaining polish on my nails and they could just do gels on the nails that had no polish remaining. The woman working there began to shame me, saying that they could not even allow me to chip the polish off my nails because I had put toxic chemicals and that they don't allow any toxins in the building (interesting, because there is an aesthetician who rents space in the back of the shop who doesn't appear to use organic products, so curious about how her toxins are different than the "toxins" of the chipped nail polish). Rather than offering any solutions, the employee made me feel bad about having my nails done at a different salon, and kept repeating that the people at my regular salon had lied to me, and that the gels I had were NOT organic and they were toxic. I ended up just getting regular polish slapped on top of the chipped, terrible looking nails I had (I was desperate, and didn't want to leave the bridal party). The woman who did my nails was sweet, but I couldn't shake how rude the entire "TOXINS!!!" situation was! The bride and I were talking about it as we walked out, and she had a great point - rather than shaming me and refusing to take off the "TOXIC" polish, maybe you should have come at it from a learning perspective, like "These are great organic polishes, we will remove the more harmful ones from your nails and you'll see how great these are" rather than making me put crappy, thick, terrible nail polish over my half-chipped nails. Also, the nails that had zero gel left on them, so it was just the organic polish, chipped the next day. I live in Los Angeles and get my nails done every two weeks, like clockwork. The prices at Spruce were overpriced, the service was mediocre, and the shaming because of my "TOXIC" polish was completely unacceptable. I would never go back here, and the sentiment was reflected by everyone in the bridal party. Read Less
