They add a lot of extras for the price. Their coats were thin and sheer, so the color was uneven, and it took twice as long as every other salon I've been to. Biggest complaint is that the staff were EXTREMELY immature and unprofessional. Would not recommend. Read Less

This is a reply to Sydney C.I've been going to Picasso for years. I've been to every salon in the Dayton,  Miami Valley area. This is the cleanest and most sanitary salon I've ever had the pleasure of going to.  However, I was concerned when I saw your comment about no licenses so when I was there this evening I checked and sure enough there are licenses posted. Most unprofessional and unsanitary salon I've ever been in. Not a single cosmetology license in sight, and I wouldn't be surprised if their techs didn't have proper training at all. Mine had no clue how to properly wrap my shellac and was not skilled removing it. I originally came in for a manicure, and as soon as I sat down I knew I had to leave. Highly recommend anywhere else! Overall unimpressed with my experience at Picasso Nails. Staff was inviting and making my appointment was quick and easy, but the whole atmosphere seemed very inexperienced and unprofessional. Several staff members had audible arguments and gossiped during my pedicure. On a good note, they had a wide selection of both polish and gel polish colors. I stopped in for a pedicure and gel manicure. The pedicure was AMAZING!! It was very relaxing and the leg massage was exactly what I needed. This is the third or fourth time I have been to this nail salon. The first few times we're great. Great nail service clean atmosphere. Sadly such was not the case for this visit. I had a mani and a pedi neither of which was done as well as had been done before. Nail polish left around the edges for instance.The technician clipped me a couple of times with the cuticle trimmers. I came to get my own pedi (which is ok so far), & my mom said they charged $10 for a "color change" which includes trimming, filing & painting. They told me it'd be just $6 for my daughter but then the manager (Kas) just painted her nails without any trimming & when I asked about it, she was super rude & made up ridiculous excuses (parents don't usually let us trim kids nails, you have to ask for it upfront...) Been going for years. Staff is friendly and down to earth. lots of extras included that other salons charge for. very reasonable prices and the work is top notch. If you have any problems they will fix them not only that day but the next week. All you have to do is tell them and they will make it right every time. I will never go anywhere else. After having been to this salon a couple years ago, I can say the service has gone down. It was fantastic. I don't go often though when I do, I would go here. It's a treat for me to go to these places, truly. I had stopped going here when the last couple experiences were lack-luster. Thought I'd give it another chance. They do take walk-ins, which is a plus. I asked for a mani-pedi/gel nails. I was put at a chair after picking my color, the person who set me left and another tech took over. She was nice, did a decent job and they still do the hot stone and paraffin though still not to the level they did a couple years ago. When the manicure part started, I was told I couldn't get tips, though I had this service before. I was told I'd need a full set of acrylics and it would take an hour and a half. It was 6:20. They close at 8. There was time to do it. Then another lady who worked there came by and said they could do what I was talking about, and for $10 less than I was being quoted. She kept saying it couldn't be done in that time though the other lady said she could do it in one hour time, and I would have to come back tomorrow. There was literally one other person in the salon. I couldn't understand why they would not take my business. She said only two people working there could do that service. It's a nail salon. Who doesn't do nails there? She said they had appointments that were coming in. It was like she didn't want me there and that she was told I wanted a plain manicure when I came in, which wasn't the case. Most disappointing is I will need to go somewhere else for the service they used to provide with no hassle and I'll lose the discount for the combined service of a mani/pedi. I even called back and said I wanted to work it out as don't want to give a review since they USED to be so customer service oriented and good. He asked what could they do to make it up and I asked him what he would suggest. He said they would promise to complete the service I ask for next time and give a shoulder massage - a service they generally provide anyway! So, the pen is mightier than the sword, or they say. Went to Picasso a few weeks ago and was not terribly impressed. Got a pedicure and a gel manicure. When doing the manicure, the technician did not work on my cuticles at all leaving me with several hangnails and with the polish not even meeting the cuticle edge. My technician and that of my friend were talking to one another the whole time about either their plans for the night that REQUIRED that they leave no later than a certain time (which was coming up pretty quickly), making both my friend and I feel rushed as well as complaining about other customers, which we felt was quite unprofessional. Also, while the idea of a shoulder massage is a nice touch, it was clearly not something my technician was interested in or trained in. It lasted just about a minute and was not focused on or well done. The price was also a bit on the high side. Won't be returning. Read Less

I'm from Massachusetts. I stopped in Picasso nails for a permanent gel fill. It was packed at 9:30 am (M -W 9-11am is appointment only) so I made an appt for 3pm. I broke 4 of my nails so I needed a fill and 4 new nails. They are the only salon in the area to use permanent gel. They don't use drills on the nail - he used a file to shape my nails and they look the best they ever have. They also give a parafin treatment after as well as a shoulder massage. It only cost $45. Definitely worth going to see them. Amazing salon!! They also have a huge selection of nail polish colors! :) Read Less

The only reason I did not complain about my nails while at the salon, was my boyfriend's mother paid for it & I did not want her to feel bad. My nails looked like I painted them with my non-dominate hand, with polish left on my cuticles. The "professional" only put on one coat of my color & physically made my nails hurt when pushing back my cuticle beds. The same cuticle cutter was used on my hand & then directly taken to cut my boyfriends' mothers, wasn't even rinsed or wiped with any kind of disinfectant.  The polish I had on before looked better than how my nails did leaving the salon.  the photos with purple polish were taken of my nails immediately after getting them done at Picasso Nails.  Plus side- there was a nice polish selection & a Marshall's a few doors down Read Less

Called for an appointment and was told they were not busy. Asked for their best technician as I work with small medical devices and my hands are constantly in the view of my customers.  A bad manicure is bad business for me.  4 minutes later I get a call that scheduled is booked solid and they cannot take me.  Really?  Can't take me because they are that busy or because I require a good job?  I felt like it was the latter.  Looking for someone in Dayton that delivers great service.  One way or another, this is not it. I'm giving the place a 3 star review because I do think there is much room for improvement. This was my second time going here for a pedi and mani. I ended up not having time for the manicure. The pedicure was done by 3 different people as they were pretty busy just after I arrived. No big deal it was okay. The part that kinda bothered me was the aggressive massage I got while I was waiting for my polish to dry. The woman was so rough that it's been 3 days now and my shoulders are still sore from the massage. I realize they are trying to be nice but I felt like I was being beat. I would highly suggest telling them what type of massage you'd like for the massage. I would have if I could focus enough to get the words out. The pedicure was good and my feet look great. Let me start out by saying that a year ago, I would have given this spa 5 stars. I'm not sure what happened over the winter months, but this place has definitely went downhill. During my first pedi of the season, the tech told me I needed to relax and that I was giving off a "stressful vibe". Really?! I was reading a magazine and couldn't have been more relaxed. I left that day actually feeling guilty about my "vibe". The next time I went, I had a brand-new tech. She was super nice, but had never performed a spa pedi before. The girl next to her was new as well, and didn't have a clue either. I felt bad for both, because it was evident that they were trying hard, but management hadn't provided great training. A more experienced tech kept coming over and offering tips, but instead of being helpful, I found her to be condescending.I decided to give this spa a third chance, because I know every place has a bad day. I walked in and the owner was at the desk. He was extremely brisk and told me I would have to wait a few minutes before he could talk to me. When he did, he was extremely rude stating they had absolutely no time for a spa pedi. He acted as if I were an inconvenience for even asking. I came because I was in need of a mani-pedi and they take walk-ins, plus they're open Sundays. I waited close to 40 minutes for someone to serve me when there were plenty of open chairs, and then as I was sitting in the pedicure chair getting my toes done, a SPIDER crawled across my lap. When I mentioned it to the nail tech, he literally laughed in my face, saying "the spider doesn't reflect the cleanliness of the salon." I understand that it's springtime now and things are warming up but there is no excuse for BUGS in an establishment that deals with people's feet! I was not charged for my services and I will not be returning. Don't waste your time or money! Venetian at the Greene is much nicer!Other issues:Cosmetology licenses of staff not clearly displayed - actually, I didn't see them anywhere.Also did not see barbicide (this is the blue, hospital-grade disinfectant that is supposed to be in clear jars) ANYWHERE in the salon. Had a fantastic pedicure today.  I live in Chicago and am so tired of the factory type nail salons that whip you out in 30 minutes practically bleeding.  This pedicure was almost 90 minutes (with drying time), relaxing, and my feet look and feel great.  I will be back on my next trip to Ohio. Okay. I've come to accept the fact that manicures/pedicures are just kind of a rip off in Dayton (they're seriously half the price in the other cities I've lived in), which is only odd because everything else is so inexpensive. I'm over it.Picasso Nails definitely boasts the best value for the price--$45 for a mani/pedi, which includes a paraffin wax treatment for your hands and feet, as well as a nice shoulder massage (not just the little rub and balled up fist banging that doesn't do anything but make everything really awkward). I felt as if it was definitely what should be included for the price, and was happy that Yelp did not steer me wrong (thank you!). They also have a brilliant selection of nail polish--all OPI and Essie, which I greatly appreciate. Nail salons just should not have crappy dollar store polish. Sorry. They shouldn't. And on this front, Picasso more than delivered. The woman who did my mani/pedi was 100% AWESOME. She's talented, skilled, funny, bright, and truly made the whole experience a lot better. It is this type of customer service that should be rewarded. In fact, the entire staff was really fabulous. We talked about tornados, derecho, children, travel, fashion, and so on. It was a totally excellent way to spend the afternoon, and my feet and hands are certainly thanking me for it. This will certainly be my go to nail salon...every, you know, three months or whatnot when I can't stand it anymore/have made a bloody mess of my cuticles and heels by trying to do it myself. I had a really good experience here last Saturday. A friend called them by chance to see if we could get mani/pedi's together, as we wanted to chat.They said we could, and so we made appointments for a couple hours later. They decor is not my style (not a picasso fan) but it was well done, and the space is bright and open. It's in a strip mall, but it has a unique feel, so overlook that fact.We both got spoiled on the pedicures - just as thorough as a nice salon, and much less expensive. I was almost asleep by the end, it felt soooo good.The manicure was also great, my lady was a perfectionist, and it showed when I left. She was meticulous and so nice, too. I can always find a problem with at least one nail when I get a manicure, but there wasn't a single flaw with this one.So, my experience was a 5-star, but I took one star away for my friend's experience - in that her manicure got started after mine but was finished before mine with a couple little bubbles in the polish upon completion. Also, her cuticle was nicked during the manicure and bled a little. She said she has sensitive cuticles and that happens all the time, but still. Her experience, with the manicure at least, was rushed a bit.Overall, the price is awesome, they gave us some coupons and other stuff when we left, were so nice, and actually made an effort to talk to us while we were there and on our way out, which I always appreciate.I'll be back - I'm chipping away at the polish right now, so I have an excuse to go back soon...
