Do not ever get your nails done by the older guy here. I actual think he may be the owner or manager. I went in on Sunday to get a full set w/ gel nail polish......crappy job and over charged, $40 and no manicure!!! Looks like I did them myself. All of them came out looking ugly and bulky looking, I had to get him to redo one that I just couldn't let be and he started complaining. it hasn't even been a week and they already look like I need a fill in and look crusty. Been to lots of nail places in Winston, this was by far the worst manicure experience I have had in this town. I thought maybe it was just me but my friend came out after and said her nails look like her 5 yo niece did them. The lady doing my nails was nice enough but not talkative and rushed through my manicure. There is nailpolish all over the skin around my nails and I had to do my cuticles myself when I got home. I would not return to this establishment even if they paid me. They also have a very limited and crappy color selection. I like the atmosphere here because it's quiet and relaxing. The prices are higher than what I'm used to. In CA I could get a mani pedi for $30. Here the pedicure alone is $30. It's in a good location off ofStratford Rd. I like the services I have received. Mani , pedi and lip wax. Read Less

The best nail salon I've ever gone to. I've been getting acrylics for years, and these are the only nails that will actually stay on as long as they are expected to. All of the technicians are fantastic, the atmosphere is great, I never feel like I'm being talked down to. Parking is never an issue. The prices are better than most salons, and the quality is so much better. I also get my eyebrows waxed here, and I couldn't be happier! Again, it's priced fairly, and they do a great job. I came in tonight to get my nails done. I knew exactly what design I wanted on my nails. I showed the girls and they said it may be difficult but they were willing to give it a shot. Kim has done my nails a few times and I am always pleased with the final result. Ask for Kim when you go to get your nails done. She is efficient in her work and speaks english very well. You don't have to worry about sitting in your chair and not knowing what everyone is saying. When it came to the design, Nancy was the girl who did it. Let me tell you, she is amazing at what she does!!!! Show her a picture of what you want and she can do it! I was so impressed with her ability to make this fox on my nails and put the leaves on them too. I have small nail beds. Not much to work with. I highly recommend trying this nail salon. I called an asked what their hours were since today is Memorial Day they said they would be open until 6:00 I said thank you and I would be coming in soon. The person on the phone failed to inform me that I apparently need an appointment to be seen within a decent time period. I am very disappointed with the way that I was treated when I walked in no one was at the counter. There were minimum customers in the shop and I was told that I would have to come back in two hours to get what I wanted done ( a pedicure and a pink and white fill). I went here today for the first & loved it! No wait at all- I was a walk in. For pedicures, the scrub & hot towel is all built into their "basic pedi" price, which was amazing. I also got a fill in, which literally took less than 15 minutes. My last fill in at Angel Touch Nails down the street took over an hour! I'm very happy with finding this place! Poor service, maybe an exception to the norm.I decided to try this spot based on it's Yelp reviews.I called ahead for an appointment and a price quote for a gel manicure and regular pedicure. I was told it would be $50, which coming from the Northeast, I considered it to be a bargain.The shop is in a very nice strip mall. The shop itself was neat, clean, modern and well decorated. The furniture was handsome and all seemed to be in good shape. I was asked if I wanted anyone in particular to take care of me. That's where it went downhill. I informed the lady that asked me the question that it was my first time there, so she decided to do my mani-pedi. She never introduced herself so I don't know her name. The next hour and a half was cold and uncomfortable.Miss No Name performed my mani-pedi but she was strictly business. She made no small talk, barely smiled, she had even perfected a non-verbal way of communicating which foot needed to go back in the tub of water, which hand should go under the UV light, etc. To be fair, I thought maybe she didn't know too much English and was unable to converse, but  when I had questions, she answered them succinctly, in perfect English, stern faced of course. When it was time to move to the manicure table, she casually pointed and said I could sit "over there."When I mentioned to her  that I left my boots over at the pedicure area, she  told me that I could get them on my way out. Really?? I've had my nails done plenty of times in many different states, it's the little gestures that count. Normally the nail techs don't let me touch anything, they assist you with everything. I'm accustomed to having to turn away their offers to carry my coat, my purse, coat, etc. Not here.I watched the other techs at this shop, one of them was very friendly, she smiled and had full conversations with each of her clients. I wish I had known her name when I got there :(Miss No Name had no words for me but spoke and giggled often, and loudly, to her co-workers in another language- a major pet peeve of mine. Would you please share your joke with the rest of the class? She also placed a call on her cell phone. Smh. When it was time to pay, I had already decided not to tip Miss No Name,  but the experience got worse.I was charged $60 instead of the $50 I was quoted.I questioned the increase and No Name became even more irrate. I was shown the price list which stated pedicure $30, gel manicure $20 & up.Miss No Name couldn't explain what the "& up" entailed. She said $20 was for a polish change only, which is not what the price list said. I guess "& up" gives them the ability to charge anything they want. Whatever, I paid $60. An excellent Salon. My friend and I come here regularly to get manicures and pedicures.  The place is very clean, and the service is excellent.  I tend to smudge my nails often, and they will always re-paint my nails immediately if I accidentally bump them before I leave.  Pricing is reasonable as well.  I typically get their regular manicures, which are $15. My only and very minor complaint: during the early evenings, it can get busy. If you don't want to wait, I'd recommend making a reservation! Read Less

Continuing my new to the city adventure has been awesome.  I decided since I started a new job, I should get a gel manicure since they last so much longer than regular application.  Based on the reviews this place seemed like a good bet.  When I arrived on a Thursday afternoon, the place was pretty empty but everyone was incredibly friendly.  My nail technician was great, talked me about the city where the cool restaurants were and my favorite grocery stores.  Normally beatuy salons and nail spas give me anxiety, but this place put me at ease.  5 days later my mani is still in top notch shape.  Already scheduled my follow up appointment! First time in here while teaching in Winston Salem for the summer. They seated me immediately for a pedicure at 5pm on a Friday! The woman who did my pedicure, Lexi, was sweet and never made me feel uncomfortable. They gave me a drink and the massage and scrub included in their basic pedicure was fantastic. I really liked getting a pedicure here and I will definitely be back! I didn't have an appointment and drove by one place and there looked to be a long wait. I read all the reviews here and thought this place would be worth a try. It is in the plaza with Midtown, Five Points, and Nawab. It is in the back closer to the Nawab side of things.I didn't have an appointment and they took me right in. The pedicure chairs were really nice and much easier to operate than most at other nail spots. The woman doing my nails was friendly and did a great job. Took her time and didn't rush me out of there. I also liked that they didn't try to up sell. I hate going to get a pedicure and then they ask you about five times if you also want a manicure. I love this place! The people are always very nice, it's always clean and as long as you make an appointment you don't have to wait at all. They do a good job too, I usually always get pedicures with white tips ($35 here) but I've also gotten their manicures and they're awesome too! I've been having my nails done here (gel application and a single mani/pedi) for several months, and I've never had a bad experience. Some of the girls are better with the gel nail application than others, but they're all very friendly. The place is always neat and clean. I recommend an appointment, but they do take walk-ins. As soon as I walked in the people were great. They provided a beverage and even though I didn't have an appt they did my nails right away. The nail technician was very friendly and helpful. I've been going to DejaVu for 2 years and have been thoroughly pleased wtih every visit. Only once have I felt rushed and that's because I didn't make an appointment and went as a walk -in on a holiday weekend. It is very clean and light and I have seen 4 different nail techs including the owner and all have been very professional and more than willing to please me (ie: shape of nail, length etc) I wear acrycilc and most recently gel which are very strong and I only have to fill in every 3 weeks instead of 2. They offer a discounted package of fill-in and pedicure and I can't wait to get there this week! I prefer to go early in the week when not as busy :-) Read Less

I went to Deja Vu twice for a full set of nails. The first time I visited this salon I had my nails done by the owner. I was going to get regular acrylics, but she talked me into the most expensive type of nails (I think they were glass nails, but not sure), because I was going to my bridal shower. They turned out amazing. They were the perfect length, shape, everything. I was EXCITED, because I'd finally found someone I liked. ----- I waited a while before going back again, so when I did go back I needed a new full set of nails. This time I decided to just get regular acrylic, because their services are already a bit pricey, so I didn't want to go overboard. *Sigh* I went to the same person as before, and my nails turned out horrible! Now, I've been getting my nails done from various salons for over 10 years, so I know the process of how long it should take, and how they should turn out. She seemed to rush through. I had to go back to have her fix one. Soon after that, several others broke. I kept getting these black smudges that I couldn't get off. The topcoat was bubbly with air bubbles. FINAL RESULT: My nails barely lasted a week. I was very disappointed. It's not worth it's ""overpricedness"". The irony is, the first time I went to get my nails done I told her I read a good review on citysearch. She was so excited to hear that, and asked me to write a review for her as well. Read Less

After reading all these comments I can't believe that people were disappointed with this salon. I went with my Best Friend two Saturdays ago and can't wait to go back. They did not rush through the pedicure and it was very relaxing. I have been to several nail places and they by far spend the right amount of time on massaging your legs. I have to admit that the nail polish has chipped but I work out every day so that comes with the wear and tear of being on my feet. I will be celebrating my 30th birthday this coming week and can't wait to pamper myself by going to Dejavu! I am VERY dissapointed with my service at Dejavu. I had a manicure over the summer and was not impressed at all. A good friend of mine wanted to get pedicures there for the Holidays as our treat to one another. It was close and the only place with an opening (that should have been the first clue that it is not worth my time or money)I should have listened to my gut. Dejavu Nail Salon was recommended to me by a friend. I was happy to have found this salon and would recommend it as the top one in Winston Salem. I have been many times for both manicures and pedicures, including French tip. It is a great place to go with a friend to chat over a glass of wine while enjoying pedicures! The staff are friendly people and are great at what they do. This salon is the perfect place to go to unwind from stress while getting fabulous looking nails. a one star at best. The customer service was awful. I scheduled an appt for a pedi mani and had to wait 20 minutes as the girls were too busy chatting in the back to actually serve a customer. I waited as I am in the customer service business myself and understand things are not always as they seem. My pedicure and manicure were done sooo quickly and it was not relaxing at all. The bottom of my feet were still rough and the polish job left a lot to be desired. I had a gift certificate they would not accept and asked to speak to an owner, as there was no expiration date on the gift certificate and I had received it only a few months ago. I was told the owner would be right out, but after about 15 minutes, no one came out. Apparently my complaint was not important enough as the girl said she was too busy to see me. I told them I was not going to pay unless I spoke with the owner and proceeded to wait another 10 minutes for her to appear. She was unapologetic and rude, stating that the gift certificate had expired in their system and could not be used. She kept repeating herself as I tried to explain that I had just received the gift certificate, and she pretended not to understand me. I finally paid and left, NEVER to return. I am so shocked that a business can be run and keep their doors open with such awful service... I will NEVER give another dime to that buisness again, nor would I EVER recommend this business to anyone else..... the owner is more concerned with making money than she is with service. This salon was recommended to me by a friend. I went online and saw the reviews. It made me a bit wary but figured I'd try it anyway. I went the first time and things went well other than having to wait 20 minutes past our appointment time. But it is the second experience that made me write this. I made appts for myself & a friend to have pedis before vacation. I called on Tuesday to make the appts and because the receptionist didn't inspire a lot of confidence I reiterated and reconfirmed the two separate appts for two ppl at the same time. She confirmed it each time I asked/repeated. We showed up on Saturday and was told we should have made appts as they were busy and could do one not two. We said we had appts and were shown the book--it was blank; no appts. When I told the girl the above, she said she could do 1 and she didn't work on Tuesday so it wasn't her fault. Then she went on to say (and I quote) that since we were upset she really didn't want to do it as it would go bad and we'd complain anyway. This REALLY got us upset and we asked to speak with the manager who literally said, oh well. Can't do anything about it and walked off. The owner came (she had been told via cell about the situation) & she didn't get out of the car until after we left (and we waited for 5 more minutes after seeing her car pull up). We were not given an actual apology (I didn't work on Tuesday so it's not my fault is not an apology); we were not offered a discount or complimentary future service; & being told they could do one service but didn't really want to do that one was the icing on the cake. I have never had such bad customer experience. I really never go back there and encourage others not to either. We were able to walk into another salon & had a great experience and great pedi that day--Fantasy Nails on Jonestown. If you go to Dejavue, I sincerely hope you have a better experience.
