It was, just, OK. Got a French gel manicure, I didn't have an appointment but it was only like 10 a.m. mid-week. Admittedly, my nails were in bad shape because my son had been in the hospital out of town, I had been staying at Ronald MacDonald house and didn't have my own bathroom, mani supplies, etc. I had also allowed a little 6 year old girl to apply red polish without a base (I KNOW! But it was worth it to see her smile). I removed the polish, they were stained, but whatever. The male manicurist was doing my nails, he kept telling me how bad my nails looked, I tried to explain that I was, literally, in survival mode with sick kid in hospital at Duke, etc- but he didn't speak english well enough to understand. I kept feeling the need to apologize- and I was told numerous times that I should use a base. "Do you understand? Base?" (he wasn't being rude, he just didn't understand what I was explaining. , I thanked him, tipped, and left. My nails did look MUCH better- the mani held up well, they were a little less oval than I had asked (more square). It wasn't the prettiest job I've had in the area, but I would say it was second-best so far. Only reason I took off stars was the lack of communication and the shape wasn't what I"d asked for.
