Had a pedicure done on Monday. Was led directly to the counter to pay and was never offered a way to get my polish dry. And of course, smudged every nail on my left foot just by getting into the car. I wasn't able to go back to get a polish change, which I was willing to pay for until Sunday. Waited well over an hour! I asked the young girl at the counter when I got there how long it would be and she said about 40 minutes. I asked if there was any way to get it done sooner, it's just a simple polish change. She said, no they take them first come first serve. But then, People who came in after me were being waited on. I asked the young man who is the owner about it, told him I had been waiting over an hour and 15 minutes! He said he had to take those who had an appointment first! Funny, I've tried to make appointments before and I was told they don't take any. Website clearly states $8 for a polish change...they charged be $12! When I questioned them they said the $8 was for hands!!! Really?? There are way better nail salons in Harrisburg. They just lost a regular customer, I won't be back! Read Less

I am a long time customer and have been going since they opened the shopping center where this nail salon is located. I live very close so this was a no brainer for me and, at first, the service, quality, and care was great. Yesterday, however I went for a normal gel polish manicure and was up charged for the removal of my current polish. I could understand if that was an option that was listed on their orange price slip when you first sign in or even if before the nail tech removed the polish she told me that there was a charge. But that is not what happened. I was told as I was in the middle of finishing my manicure that an extra fee would be added for the removal. So, I of course, accepted because what was I supposed to do when I’m in the middle of getting my nails done. Long story short, I paid for the additional fee but they ended up losing a long time customer. Will not be going back no matter how convenient it is for me. I tired this place out because of word of mouth. They were a little busy and seemed unorganized. I filled out the orange sheet and sat down, I was curious as to how they'd keep track of who was next since you take the paper with me and your information wasn't written down. Seems like the girl at the front desk has a good memory. I didn't like that 3 different people kept asking her who's next. They should have a different system or place or makes them look very unorganized. I was there to get my gel color changed when it was my turn I had to wait to get soaked, then I was told I should've told the girl up front to start my soaking earlier.. did I mention this was my first time and I did write down that's why I was there.. if they view the paper instead of just having you write your service then wait it wouldn't be so crowded and unorganized .. not sure if I'll go back for a second shot. I've been going to this salon for months and I have always loved the experience.  It typically takes me a little longer because I have sensitive skin and nails and most of the technicians understand and are careful.  I love Kim, Nancy, Ann!!!!However this past weekend was nothing short of a cluster!!!! First of all it took An Hour to seat me.  Then when I inquired as to why clients who arrived after me were being seated, instead of apologizing, the front desk informed me that pedicures are seated first.  Interesting!!!!Next I was seated and then it took another 30 minutes to find a technician to remove my old gel nail polish.  I think it took 3 different techs.Finally last tech who worked on me didn't seem to care that she was hurting my nail bed and skin when trying to remove nail bed.  When I suggested letting it soak a bit longer or putting in heat she got up and disappeared for about 10 min.  She came back chewing her lunch!!!!  I really can't make this up.Finally started working on my nails.  She didn't leave them in curing process long enough (30 sec for initial coats) and within 2 days, nail polish has come up on 3 of my nails.  I've ruined one nail bed removing gel polish since it kept snagging on things!Still that's not the end of the story!   After finishing she walked away and didn't ring me up or ask anyone to ring me up.  So there I am being made to wait, still again, to pay.It took this salon 2 hours and 45 minutes to get to a gel polish removal and re-paint.  I didn't even request a manicure!!!!  I've never been so disappointed at the lack of communication and customer service!!!! It's more like 3.5 stars. If you come on the weekend, there are plenty of techs, however, that doesn't mean techs are sitting around waiting for customers. There are plenty of people coming in so you will have to wait.As other reviewers have mentioned, the receptionists (in my experience, one girl who has glasses), are/have been very short with people. One time, when I was paying, the girl took my card and then proceeded to hold onto it well after I'd signed the receipt. I stood there and looked her and then she gave it back without any acknowledgment on her part.Back to the salon, you will come in and sign in on the slips that are on the counter in the front. You'll then be instructed to pick out a color or wait (if you're getting a wax service or something else). There aren't many colors - just two spinning turnstiles that do not have many options. Once you're seated in a chair - whether it's for a pedicure or manicure - you will still wait some more. They get to each person (if you don't have an appointment) on a first come, first serve basis.I always get a regular color on my hands (I personally do not like gel) and I've never had a problem with the polish chipping. In fact, my polish normally lasts at least a week when I come here. I've had different nail techs each time and I've been pleased with the quality of manicure job done every time so there's something to be said about consistent training.I would recommend Modish but just pack your patience on a weekend or come during the afternoon early on in the week. I've been going to Modish Nail Spa for 3 months now.  The salon is gorgeous and clean and the nail techs are all very nice. For that I will give 2 stars.Upon walking in, especially as a new client... the receptionist is unwelcoming and does not instruct that you have to fill out a pink slip for services requested.  It's a little confusing and awkward.First impression is the beautiful salon but the receptionist is the second impression and I have found her rude every single time.  I came in for a scheduled appointment and waited 20 minutes before being told she had called to tell me I had been double booked.  I asked her why she didn't leave a message and she said they do not leave messages.  I was seen within a half hour of my scheduled appointment with a different tech and I was satisfied.Today I had an appointment at 9:30.  It was snowing so I checked Instagram and Facebook and there was no mention of them being closed.   I also tried calling 15 minutes before my appointment but was unable to leave a message.  I did not receive a courtesy call stating they'd be closed so I drove there... only to find they were closed!  I had the courtesy to show up for a scheduled appointment but I guess they have enough clients that they don't need to show the same courtesy to us. With the 50,000 nail salons in the area I don't need to waste any more time going to Modish.  Apparently they don't need my business.  Mike, it may be a good idea to read your reviews and make the changes necessary to improve your business.  First change being, replace your receptionist! Went here for the first time almost 3 weeks ago and got a gel mani and regular pedi. My manicure was great and still looks awesome (despite that my nails have grown, of course). I've never had a gel mani last this long without turning up at the edges and becoming super irritating. They did an amazing job, were fast and actually cheaper than the place I usually go to. Went here once last month with a friend for a pedicure. We enjoyed it. It was relaxing. Not a huge selection of color choices compared to some other places we've tried. We went early on a Friday morning and were helped right away. I came back last week for a pedicure and had to wait about 30 minutes. I thought it was a little odd to wait in the pedicure chair but I couldn't soak my feet. I didn't totally mind though because I had a book to read. Pedicure was great but I'm usually not a picky person. When the lady went to put my sandal back on she smudged a good portion of my big toe nail. Instead of taking it all off to fix it, she just painted right over the smudge mark.Went Friday 9/14 for a manicure for an upcoming wedding and I was told at 1pm that they were no longer taking customers due to a bridal party that would be arriving soon! Disappointed, I left with no manicure. Came today Sunday 9/17 to get the manicure for the upcoming wedding I need to go to. I got there at 11:52 (open at 12) and there was already about 8 girls in line outside their doors. They opened a few minutes early and began working on everyone. I informed lady I would like my big toe from lasts week pedicure fixed and then a gel manicure. She did my gel manicure first which I thought was odd because my toe could have been drying while I got my nails done. The lady appeared to do a good job with my nails but it was pretty quick. Also, my hand massage was an absolute joke. I still had lotion all over my hands and when she realized this, she simple used the towel to wipe all the rest off. She then fixed my toe and I had to wait around longer now for it to dry. The receptionist is very rude as well. Simply tells you what you owe and swipes your card. Then says "sign this." Random, but I thought $25 for a full gel manicure was very reasonable. Overall, I'm quite disappointed in how my last couple of experiences went. I really wanted to like this place as its new, clean, and close to home. I was hoping with it being just outside the university area, it wouldn't be as busy as other salons located right near the university, but I've been wrong every time. Now I just need to evaluate how long my gel manicure lasts. I've never been able to get the full 2 weeks anywhere else so I'm curious as to how their gel holds up with me. Read Less

I've been to this nail spa three times and each time I have left with bloody feet. I currently have two large areas on the side of my foot where skin is missing because my technician scrubbed too hard, even after I told her I had enough. Tonight, I asked to speak to the manager to discuss this problem and was very rudely told that would not be possible to speak to a manager and was forced to pay my full amount. THIS PLACE IS NOT SANITARY!! When I arrived, I was immediately acknowledged and greeted. I wanted a manicure and pedicure. I picked my color and was instantly seated in the pedicure chair. The young lady who greeted me informed me that no one would start my water until my tech was almost done with her current client. I thought it was quite "interesting" that I wasn't allowed to soak while I wait.  During my pedicure, the top of the bottle for the foot scrub came off while the tech was applying it to my legs. The foot scrub made quite a mess. The nail tech scrapped it off my leg and placed it back into the container to be used on other clients. I pride myself on showering regularly; however, this is sooo unacceptable. Towards the end of my pedicure, she began to complain about how hot she was. When she got up to retrieve a towel to dry my feet, she wiped her forehead with it prior to wiping my feet. Being that she was so hot, she also removed one of her gloves. She wiped her nose and with that exposed hand and then proceeded to rub me down with lotion and oil. When it was time for my manicure, she couldn't locate a clean cuticle scraper in her kit so she used the same one that she used on my feet. The only reason I allowed her to "proceed" with her unsanitary ways is so that I could leave an honest review and also file a complaint with the NC Board. All the yelp reviews make this place look great....but how much would you care about cute nails if your fingers and toes are infected and falling off??? Read Less

I came from Atlanta to visit my best friend & really needed my nails done. I used yelp to find the nearest salon & found Modish Nail Spa. My experience at Modish Nail Spa was AMAZING from beginning to end. I walked in and a lady greeted me with a smile. She then asked what I wanted to have done, I told her I wanted a manicure & pedicure. I showed her a few pictures of what I wanted. She told me they could do it. I got my pedicure first. It was done by Pachee. She was so nice and professional. I requested white polish, which I was a bit nervous about b/c when I had it once before(at a different nail salon) the finish was very streaky. This was the best pedicure I've EVER had. The conversation was great & the lower leg/foot massage was wonderful. I would definitely recommend her!Next, I got my manicure. The young lady that did it was Tammy. She was so sweet & personable! We talked the whole time, shared stories about motherhood & laughing about the funny things our kids put us through. I loved every minute. I got the pink & white ombré. Today was my first time visiting. It was Mother's Day and they were crazy busy. Every pedicure chair was full and all techs were busy. I like the card you fill out for your service. My daughter and myself got pedicures, she got a manicure, and I got a polish change and design on my nails. They did seat us in the chair fast and yes we waited. I saw a few people get up and leave the chair because they didn't want to wait. Well don't come on a busy day. I did feel bad for the receptionist because people were rude to her. I moved to charlotte a few months ago and it took me a few tries to find my "go-to" nail salon and I'm so happy I found Modish nails. They are a big and busy nail location but the entire staff has always been really sweet and helpful. They always make sure I always have a good visit and their prices are very reasonable. The wait time can be long but they manage it well and try their hardest to get to you as soon as possible. If you are in a hurry, then make an appointment or come during non-peak times.  They work so hard and make sure everything is always nice and clean. I've gone to a few nails spots in north Charlotte and this is by far the best for price and actual last-age. I've been here many times. I only get gel nails because nothing else lasts at my job and this place does the best job! I've had a wide variety of their specialists work on my nails and literally everyone does an awesome job. You know how sometimes when you go to a nail place a lot you have to have that one person do your nails cause no one is as good? Well that isn't a thing here because everyone is awesome! I've had gels on that have lasted me almost 4 plus weeks. (That half moon mani grows out and doenst look ridiculous, so you can wait that long between) Anyways, friendly staff that all do great jobs with really good prices for the awesome service you get. Don't be fool by this fancy nail salon. The service is horrible. I walk in at 5:50pm for a pedicure ONLY and was told they could not take anymore clients when they close at 7:30pm. There were no other people waiting. Why have 40 pedicure chairs and you can't take clients a hour and half before closing and why is your OPEN sign on? I've never been to a nail shop and denied service when your open for another 1 1/2 hour. This is not my first incident with them. First time customer: Very friendly atmosphere! They were very busy and we were going to go somewhere else but decided to run an errand and come back. Still had a bit of a wait, even while in the pedicure chair but glad we made the decision to try them out. The salon is very nice and well maintained, they are constantly cleaning. The pedicure chairs are super comfortable! Beverages are offered as well which is a plus (water, soft drinks, beer, wine). The nail tech, Kim, was awesome!! Very attentive and listened to what I wanted for my pedicure and fill in, which is very important, and followed through with little to no coaching (previous nail tech problems). Great place in the Harrisburg area to get your nails done. It's right off of highway 49, so not too far off the beaten path.  Its large inside but not crowded . The decor is modern and neat. They are quick to serve you too. The appear to be very clean and use plastic liners in the pedicure bowls. They offer a variety of beverages and the music is great. No TVs, which is fine by me. I have been meaning to come by here since it's next to my friendly neighborhood Harris Teeter. I came when my normal place couldn't get me in. I called ahead and they said they weren't busy at all. However when I came inside twenty minutes later they were full. I waited about fifteen minutes for a nail tech. TIP: When you come in-write what you want on the tickets at the reception desk. I had a gel nail done and the tech stabbed me while scraping my nails. I started bleeding. She didn't do it intentionally and she did apologize, but I know she was rushing since there were people waiting. Also since she was rushing, she had to do some of my nails over again. Just another worker shop nail salon. I decided to give them a try since they are in such a nice location. It took them about 2 minutes to acknowledge my presence and I also made an appointment and still had to wait. The receptionist (see attached picture) was on the phone the whole time. The workers rushed your services because your just a number. There seems to be some nice people that work here but unfortunately my friend and I were given the short end of the stick. Our pedicures lasted about 10 minutes each and we waited at least 30 before some one addressed us. They have about 20 pedicure chairs but not enough workers. I got here at 3:45..I'm about to head out at 6:15. Mani and pedi. They were really busy, which was fine with me today since I wasn't in a hurry. They're very organized and clean. I like that they use disposable sponges to scrub your feet. They've been open for about two or three weeks I think, so all furniture, equipment and polish is nice and new. I wasn't greeted when I first walked in, but the staff were nice and personable. They offer a variety of complimentary drinks (red and white wines, water, sodas). They're offering 10% off all services at the time, so my mani and pedi came out to $45. I'm pretty happy with the experience overall. Read Less
