I called Chakras on a Sunday morning in desperate need of a massage for a really painful muscle knot in my upper back. Ashley listened to my very specific symptoms/requests, worked out a plan for a custom massage and found a time slot for me on short notice. Rhonda was my massage therapist, and she performed some AMAZING magic on my back and arm muscles. She really customized the treatment based on my symptoms. This is a chronic problem for me, and this is the first time I've had a massage that dramatically improved my pain - the next day it was markedly better, and now on day 2 the pain is gone. The space itself is beautiful, calming and inviting. The staff I worked with were friendly, professional and helpful, and Rhonda is a master. Not sure what you want? Go. See. Amanda. I needed to make a last minute appointment today to pick up where my normal stylist left off, and the results are amazing. She was able to take all-over gingery blonde to an ashy blonde with chocolate-mousse colored low-lights so that my roots can grow out blended. I wasn't sure what my hair was going to do (it can be stubborn) but I trusted her vision and I'm grateful that I did. Side note: She takes great care to maintain the health of your hair, and you will probably leave the salon with the softest hair you've ever had. Also, she is honest, and she'll tell you straight up if something isn't going to look right, or is going to take longer than you think, etc, which I really appreciate. Highly recommend. Read Less

I am amazed at what Brian was able to do to transform my hair! He literally did "hair surgery" to get the permanent black which was NOT supposed to be permanent out of my hair and get me as close as humanly possible back to my natural dirty blonde color. This review is purely based on a manicure that I had done today by Alicia (? Spelling - maybe Aleesha). This is one of the best manicures I've had in a while. She didn't rush anything. I've arrived to experience relaxing, pampering spa offerings like a massage or sugar scrub... I've skipped in off the streets for First Friday to revel in live music, performance & fun company... Even if I've just dropped in for a gift card, I always feel warmly welcomed. What an amazing experience i just had today, it was my first time ever at this salon it has raised the bar I don't believe there is another salon in the Triad that can come close, I set my appointment thru Yelp & I recieved a call the same day to verify the time was requesting to come in and the type of service i was in need of, the lady was very helpful in matching me with the perfect stylist. AMAZING. I was initially thrown off because one of the girls at the front desk was hateful when I arrived, but my stylist changed all of that almost instantly. Samuel is by far the best stylist and colorist I have EVER had. I have lived in plenty of metropolitan areas and paid a lot of money for hair that I liked but never loved like this. Samuel makes you feel like an old friend. He is over the top talented and I cannot recommend him highly enough. I came in asking for super blonde balayage and left with exactly what I wanted for the first time EVER. Absolutely go see him for your next hair appointment. It doesn't get any better. Read Less

I had such a tough time finding a good salon here after moving from Charlotte, and let me tell you- I've had some NIGHTMARE experiences at other salons in GSO! But Emily G. saved my hair and I knew right away I was in good hands upon entering the salon- it's so pretty! Also It's honestly not really that expensive in comparison to the salon I used to go to in Charlotte. This place is really nice. I've received 2 deep tissue massages by different masseuses here and both were wonderful.After your massage, you can sit in the "nest" - a very cozy window seat, overlooking Elm Street and drink tea and relax. Hands down worst hair experience of my life! I came in yesterday very excited touse the gift certificate that I received for Christmas. I decided on Balayage and booked an appointment with A. I did my research and showed A a picture of what wanted (very natural subtle look with a hint of reddish) and she said we would pick out the toner color (after bleach) together. This never happened. She never brought swatches out and consulted with me. Instead she just went back and mixed up the colors in the back which resulted in 5 hours of torture and my hair becoming a bright orangey copper, then bright red (think Ariel), then purple-red, then finally almost back to my natural color with some red undertones-- which is not what I wanted at all. I left with my hair wet just eager to get out of there as fast as I could. They tried to charge me $186 (46 dollars more for the extra toner) I made a Yelp account specifically to share my horrific, traumatizing experience here. I came in with extremely excited, expecting an elite experience and left $150 poorer with tortured hair. Read Less

I had a free makeover in 2015 and lucky for me Abby Jarrett was my stylist.  Ever since that time I have continued to come Chakras.  Abby is not only an amazing stylist but a wonderful person.  My hair is somewhat wavy and Abby has been able to work around this to give me a fabulous cut that does not require a lot of fuss but always looks great.  I feel like a million bucks when I leave Chakras! I visited Chakras for the first time yesterday and am now deeply loyal to the salon. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgable and seemed genuinely happy to see each of their clients. Kathryn was extremely transparent with me about what would and wouldn't work for my hair type, how to make what I wanted really pop, and how much it would cost to do so. I was never pressured, only informed. I left with celebrity hair, another appointment, and referred my friend same-day. I always find it very difficult to find a new salon in a new area because I am super picky, and I always want something unusual, and want to change frequently. So I MUST find a stylist I jive with and can trust. I struck gold this time thankfully! The website is laid out well, with clear explanations of the different levels of stylists (The higher the level, the more training and experience they have, and the more expensive they are. Which lets you choose for yourself what works for you). If you're picky like me, you can choose the correct level of stylist, and from their short bios, what their aesthetic or specific skills are.They also explain the spa options on the website, but I haven't been lucky enough to get to try any of those out yet. When you first walk inside, the interior is warm and inviting with a large fountain, and lots of eclectic, repurposed, historic materials complimentary to the downtown area. They serve various lovely teas, coffee, and water while you wait, which I always appreciate that little extra touch. There is always someone to help at the counter to get you checked in, and a lot of times if you don't need a long appointment (like my husband) you can get a walk-in appointment easily. I have been going to Kathryn as my stylist for several months now, and I couldn't be happier. She loves to experiment, but knows what she is doing too. It's not just a random gamble. I love constant change, and for my hair to evolve so I don't get bored with it in both cut and color. She does this wonderfully. Especially since I rarely have much of an idea of what I want, and like to let my stylist choose something they feel is best for me (Any good stylist knows. You should trust them, it's their job). She has worked wonderfully off of my already dyed hair (I know that it's not always easy when you don't know what type of dye, the exact shade, or other factors the past stylist did to your hair for a new stylist to jump in without analyzing closely first. No one wants a bad color reaction between dye types!). After that it's been a dream to work with her. She is very skilled in working with colors that are not typically standard, or are slightly unusual, likes reds, maroon shades, deep browns, and even purples and pinks. She does all of this to compliment my complexion, and the hairstyle. She's also honest! Which is a fabulous trait in a stylist. I've loved every cut and color I've gotten from Kathryn (about 4 or 5 now), and I really enjoy knowing that she likes to be creative and help my hair evolve add much as I do. I also can see how skilled she is, and how she is constantly getting training on new products and techniques. My stylist also does something very few stylists I've been to, even the experienced and highly trained ones do. She cuts and styles my hair in its naturally curly state! Almost every other stylist I've ever seen seems terrified of curly hair, even if they know how to cut it into a style I can easily wear curly. It just seems like they're terrified to style it curly. Even if I ask them to! They almost always straighten it. Granted, I wear my hair both ways, but to have a stylist who truly knows how to cut, style, and deal with curly hair is unusual and fabulous to find! I was lucky enough to have had another excellent stylist in my life around junior high school who showed me how to work with my hair since I had no clue at all. Kathryn is a stylist like that. If you have a daughter who has curly hair, or even if you've never felt comfortable managing your curls, it is more than worth it to speak with a stylist like her who can teach you what to do,  to get your hair looking amazing! Oh, and they have massage chairs at the hair washing sinks! It's a bit startling the first time if you're not warned, but it feels amazing!I find the prices I'm paying for the extensive time and multitude of techniques that my stylist dies for my hair each time I'm there to be average for what I'm getting. I mean, I'm taking up 2-3 hours of time, plus she's doing multiple colors, a cut, and other things to make my hair super fabulous. Add in her training and expertise, and the price point doesn't seem high for what you're getting. But again, there are options for everyone with the various stylist to choose from. My husband's haircuts are just barely slightly more than what he'd pay at the fast in-and-out places where you never know what stylist you'll get, or how good of a job they'll do (Always a gamble). But, his stylist (Abby -Sorry if I spelled it wrong!) also trims his eyebrows upon request, does a fantastic job on his hair, and his hair is consistently great looking (No more gambling on if he'll get a good stylist that day). I've been coming here for about 5 years consistently for my facials by Julie and cut & color by Emily G. They are absolutely fabulous! One of the things that I love about this spa is management really invests in the employees - this is the only place in GSO where you can find the newest & best quality hair and skin care products, and the stylists and beauticians are constantly receiving training on new techniques and products. The spa itself is beautiful to look at and be in - designed with an Eastern energy the colors, textures, and sound features (a large fountain and great instrumental music) immediately relax you. Came in again to see Kathryn again.-Men's cut-Keratin Express--never thought I'd do thatThe shampoo alone is worth coming in for--literally a scalp massage :)She's made me look more attractive each and every time I've seen here. The keratin treatment that as I mentioned I never thought I'd get--was suggested to control my friZ and as someone with curly hair it helped immensely.The amount of attention I get with other stylists touching my hair after the fact makes me feel like kind of a rockstar. Well maybe more Kathryn as everyone payed compliments to her after product. Needless to say it's super smooth, soft and silky. The place seems pretty cool to be in with music and people chattering the whole time. Feels very welcoming and the stylists all seem to get along really well. I have had two amazing manicures from Alycia in the past. Her work is without question top notch. She pays acute attention to detail and her regular manis (not gel) have lasted over two weeks. However, my first pedicure appointment was a total disappointment. My toes are beautiful, but the last part of my appointment was treated incredibly unprofessionally. As Alycia was about to apply the final coats of polish and top coat, she was interrupted by 2-3 other employees who barged into the room and were clearly amused by two guys who walked in off of the street and asked for just their nails to be clipped. This question should have been asked to her discretely and never have turned into a spectacle and disruptive ordeal where they were all joking about these guys and their lack of knowledge of a pedicure, nail trim, etc. and how much they should be charged. The disruptive situation lasted so needlessly long that it completely ruined an otherwise wonderful pedicure. When I went to pay for my service, the girl at the desk (I believe her name is Kate) was still entertaining these two guys who found the entire situation amusing, instead of promptly taking my money and wrapping up my service. I am the regular client, therefore it's not rocket science that I should have been prioritized in that moment and tended to accordingly. I'm not sure if it's from a lack of training or what, but everyone involved in that scenario acted like complete amateurs and not as employees of a reputable spa. Read Less

I've been seeing Haylee for years. I've followed her to different salons because she is the best and only person I trust with my hair. She's the best "blonde maker" in Greensboro (I'm a natural brunette). She always knows what color that I want mixed up and sitting in her chair is much more than just seeing a stylist. She had become a friend and a therapist (don't we all spill it in the chair?). She always makes me feel beautiful on the outside but reminds me of my inner bea...uty, too. I'm so glad she ended up at Chakras. I see how much she enjoys working there and it's easy to see why. I always feel relaxed and refreshed when I leave. Everyone there is so sweet and attentive. I've also seen Julie for facials and she's so sweet as well. And Donnie is great to get pedicures from as well. I have been going to Chakras for over two years now and I've been working with Kathryn Saunders the entire time. I moved here from Philadelphia and had an incredible hair stylist that I hated to leave behind! I did my research, inquired through websites and friends and decided to call and speak with the staff. I told the receptionist what type of hair I have (think Chaka Kahn meets Animal from The Muppets, I know, unfortunate) and how I liked it styled. They have three tiers of pricing for the different level of stylists, beginner, intermediate and expert. I told the receptionist that I didn't want to work with a beginner because of how hard my hair is to work with but I'd prefer to not pay for the expert status unless she felt that nobody in the intermediate level could work with my mop on top. She recommended Kathryn Saunders and like I said earlier, that was two years of haircuts every six weeks ago. If Kathryn isn't an expert I'd love to see who is! Homegirl can do ANYTHING with my hair and make it look absolutely smashing. Just go check out her instagram @hairbykkathryn . I've sent several friends to her and they all leave thrilled. She's fantastic with cut and color and has an incredibly pleasant personality. As I've read through some of the other reviews that give Chakra's low star ratings, I can't help but feel that they didn't do their due diligence to find out who would best fit them. I've seen one review where a yelper says blowouts don't last... my blowouts last until I shower again which shamefully can be up to 3-4 days... don't hate, I've been busy! The staff is always incredibly friendly and the shop is immaculate. I cannot recommend Chakras (and Kathryn Saunders) enough. Do yourself a favor and pick up the phone to schedule an appointment!
