This is hands down the best nail salon I have ever been at. Very welcoming & relaxing. I would definitely have done the permanent eye brow & eyeliner makeup if I had more time ( stopped in on last day of vacation). The lady who did my nails was excellent & very meticulous & she does the permanent makeup. Went here on a Tuesday, mid day. I had a wonderful experience. Joe did my nails. They were a mess since I didn’t have time to have them done before I left for vacation. Joe is very particular with an eye for detail. All of this is good and I’m very happy with the results. I’d love to have a pedicure at Ocean Nails in the future. Everyone was so nice. These are hard working folks who deserve respect. If you make an appointment show up! If they are super busy be patient. You will get the same care as the people ahead of you. I had my finger nails and toe nails painted. It lasted longer than any other I’ve ever had done. I also got PERMANENT EYELINER!!!! BEST DECISION I EVER MADE!!! I want to share with you the experience that I have had with Ocean Nail and Spa to help you see that this a top notch establishment. I am a very picky client with my manicures and I have never had one issue with the way my nails are done here. I am always blown away with the attention to detail that they give. They are very clean and follow all hygiene protocols to make sure all of their clients are safe. The first manicure I had they took a lot of time to clean up my cuticles and made sure my nails were prepped for the manicure. I chose gel polish and it stayed on for 2 weeks with out peeling. Which leads me to let you know that the quality of materials that they use are high end and very professional. They do not cut corners at all and you get what you pay for. The next manicure that I got Caroline suggested the Dip technique which came as a recommendation to the fact that my nails were very thin and she new this technique would give my nails strength and make them healthy. My nails now are the healthiest that they have ever been and I continue to do the Dip technique with Caroline. She is very nice and personable and is an artist when it comes to nails. I bought a rental property on island in mid 2016. These folks are a nice young couple. Quiet and professional which may come off as unfriendly based on other reviews. However they have always done a great job when I go in for manicure and/or pedicure. Lasts a good while. I go regularly for both do I an more concerned with the quality of the job. I regret walking into this establishment.  I decided to walk in after grabbing coffee next door after my morning beach run.  They had just opened, so I was the first customer.  A gentleman at the front looked up, confused.  I told him I would like to get a spa pedicure.  He motioned me to a lady who was sitting on the couch.  She uttered nothing.  Her instructions to me were in the form of hand signals, which I have NO problem with.  What I do have a problem with is the lack of customer service and frustration she displayed because she couldn't communicate with me.  When I asked her a question, she looked at me with a deer-in-the-headlights glare and continued working.  No response.  Nothing.  Her directions were very direct and short, like I had no other choice.  She told me to sit under the dryer for 10 minutes.  At the 10-minute mark, she actually came to me and said "You pay."  Taken aback, I asked, "you want me to leave?"  And she abruptly turned around and walked away.  The salon wasn't even busy.  I pointed out a flaw (bubbling) in my nail, and she got offended, agitated, mumbling in Vietnamese and walked away.  She came back to fix it, ordered me to keep my nails under the dryer, insinuating I caused the bubbling.  I was polite, patient, and kind.  I could have easily did a 180 at the lack of courtesy, but it wasn't worth my energy.  And kids were around.  The only thing that made my visit worthwhile was talking to other clients around me.  I guess I should have asked for Caroline, as most ladies were asking for her.  I am going back to the salon across the bridge. I have been going to this salon for a few years, as I am a part-time resident of Emeraid Isle. This Spring I was told they wanted people to make an appointment, which I have been doing.  I had an appointment for a pedicure at 10 am today, but when I walked in I as told there would be a wait as a large group had just walked in (without an appointment).  I was very upset and all they could say was "sorry."I am now looking for another salon that will hopefully have better customer service.  A regular customer should be treated better than the vacationers who are only in town for  week. I finally found my favourite nail salon - Ocean Nails & Spa. I was really happy. They used an autoclave to sanitize all of their instruments. All of the staff were extremely polite and professional. After hearing all of the glowing reviews, I had to try Ocean Nails & Spa for myself. Ocean Nails & Spa is the best nail salon in the city. I have never been disappointed in their service attitude. They had a huge selection of colors, and my polish always last a really long time. Great service and the girls knew what they are doing (never hurt anyone! ). Worst than a trip to the dentist! Other than saying, "pick a color," neither my manicurist nor pedicurist said a word to me.  That includes when she made my cuticles bleed.  No "whoops!" or "I'm sorry!" even after i winced.  She just squirted alcohol on it.  Not even a thank you after I tipped them! IIt felt like they both rushed through it as if they have a line of people waiting (which they didn't, I was one of two people in there!).  I went here to relax and it was neither relaxing nor enjoyable.  On top of that, I was charged $73 for a basic pedicure and a basic gel manicure.  Definitely don't recommend, which is such a shame because it would be so nice to have a great, relaxing nail salon on the island! If you wanted the BEST nails you must visit Ocean Nail & Spa. I had welcomed very graceful by nail staff here. They invited me a traditional tea which I don't asked for. I love this place and just wish it was in my home town.  Best gel mani/pedi I have had in awhile and consistent with what I would expect to pay at a none fancy spa.  De ore is not glamorous and place could use an refresh but things were clean and the attention to detail on my nails was truly impressive.  After a week at the beach building sand castles, SUP and kayaking;  my nails still look decent.  Cannot recommend this place enough.  See you next summer! Went to get a pedicure with my sister in law at this place while on vacation. Honestly, it was ok. I don't think I have ever given one star. But as I'm sitting here, one of the manicurist's is draped across the table sleeping. The man doing my sister in law's nails was about to do the massage part, and said: "Ouch! Your hair is so long". I was shocked that he would be that rude! He scoffed at the color choice after that. Don't do it! Don't even go in! Take your money and run, run far to another salon!  You'll be thankful that I told you so!! Do not even waste your time especially your money going here!  I called before I went and was told that the gel polish would be $35.  I explained that I had gel polish on and that I needed that off and new polish put on.  This is a normal procedure at any other salon that I have been going to for several years!!! I get there, the owner tells me that I have on-acrylic full set.  I tell him that I dont, that it's gel polish not acrylic full set.  I also tell him that I have been doing this for a couple of years now and that they soak it off the exact same way that you do the shellac! I should know, I pay every 2-3 weeks to have my nails done.  I know what I ask for and I watch them put it on!!! This one is called S&S gel polish.  It's a little thicker than shellac, lasts a little longer and my nails are stronger after I use it.  I'm sorry that the owner is not up to date on his polish!  However, after I proceed to tell him that they soak it off at my salon, he sits me down like I'm an idiot and pulls, tears, destroys my real nails by taking it off with a fake finger nail tip. What on earth? I have never seen this done, ever!! My salon tells you NOT TO PEEL THE GEL POLISH OFF BECAUSE IT DESTROYS YOUR FINGER NAILS!!! As he is doing it, I am letting him know that he is doing it wrong, THAT it HURTS and that he is destroying my nails.  HE COMPLETELY IGNORED ME!  UNBELIEVABLE!  Aren't you working for me at this point?  ANYWAYS, he proceeds to do what he wants and stabs me under my cuticle with the fake nail that he was using to take my polish off the wrong way.  I tell him it hurts, he ignores me, doesn't even acknowledge that I am talking to him, never even gives an apology-which could have gotten him somewhere with me, and he gets up and has another nail tech take over.  Meanwhile, he tells her that I had acrylic, because I heard it, and that he is charging me $10 for a take off.  A NAIL TAKE OFF? $10??? What in the world?  I have never been charged to take off my polish if they are giving me another manicure and a new gel polish. Now I'm paying $10 on top of a crazy $35 for gel polish!  Rip off!  My salon, a very upscale, clean, respectable salon, only charges $20 for  the exact service and I even get a back massage! You are charging me $45?? You are one crazy Dude!!! Good luck to you because your business practice and the way you treat people...SUCKS!!!!  I paid the $45 and even tipped the 2nd nail tech, but I'm not a fool!!! So I left feeling scammed, in pain and frustrated that this man just ripped me off.  I called my salon and told them exactly what happened and what he did.  They couldn't believe it.  I told them that I was going back in to get my $10 back because he was charging me for an acrylic take off.  I asked them if they would explain to him, since he is obviously unaware of the newest trends of polish, what was exactly on my nails.  They were pleased to do that.  They couldn't believe how he treated me because -they listen to their customers.  They actually want them to come back, to speak highly of them and they are genuinely concerned for their customers happiness.  So, the next day I went in.  Explained to him why I was there, why I was upset, that he destroyed my nails, they are now paper thin and bending terribly with the gel  even on, they are short and they hurt!  He could give one big flip.  I told him that I wanted him to talk to the owner of my salon so he willingly did so.  I couldn't believe it...he was yelling at her and being so rude.  I actually called her after I left his salon, in which I will never go back into and neither should you, so that I could apologize for even bringing her into this.  She just was appalled.  After all of this, I did get my $10 back.   He wasn't happy about it but he did ask me if that's what I wanted...absolutely!  I should have told him I wanted all of my money back and that I would be owning his salon soon too!  Luckily, I'm not like that.  Buddy...Joe- you didn't pull one over on me.  Hopefully you won't be able to do this to someone else.  It's unfortunate that you are so greedy because that's going to really hurt your business and your family.  Best of luck to you! My diva and I went to get gel manis! They did an amazing job and took their time to make sure it was perfect! They also fixed my divas toe after she dropped a case of diet coke on it. I also had my toe color changed and they cut my nails down just a tad too much, but nothing that little blue magic stuff can't fix. Friendly staff, a little expensive but worth it! Old (goopy, thick) nail polishes, inattentive staff that seems irritated to do a mani, no "current" colors in their selection. My mom got a pedi and the man doing hers told her the polish was wrong and picked an entirely new color for her. I'm honored to write the first review about this spot, because it sucks. When I say don't cut my cuticles, don't cut my cuticles, and don't look at me like I don't know what I'm saying, because you went ahead and cut my cuticles and I bled. And my toe still hurts from where she scrubbed the loffah so hard that I could hardly put my shoes back on. And PS- A mani-ped, unless it is a spa mani-ped, which it wasn't shouldn't take 2 hours. Basically, this restaurant is just like any other chain restaurant just in Emerald Isle with a few seafood dishes--all of which I am willing to bet come from Thailand, definitely not NC. The wait was ridiculous, the service was HORRIBLE, and the food was disappointing. I have heard people rave about this restaurant, and I just don't get it.
