The Nail Stop was a great salon when it first opened, and I could count on quality service from a number of nail techs. Now there's only one tech whom I will allow to touch my nails. The worst nails I've ever had. They looked fine when I left but in less than a week, my GEL polish began to peel off. Ive never had that happen. My daughter had a fill in and a repair. Her repair was done shorter than her other nails, and instead fixing it he insisted on making it "skinnier so no one would notice ". My youngest twin had her acrylics soaked off. They did not soak her nails at all. He peeled them using another nail. She left with acrylic still on her nails. I would not recommend this location to anyone. Read Less

I really wanted to like this place because of its convenient location, decor, offered services etc. But I'm not pleased. I have gone to them three times for SNS (dip powder). I always leave satisfied; however the polish has chipped in less than two weeks on each occasion. On my last visit (one week ago) my polish chipped on two nails in three days. I went back and they fixed it for free. Well, here I am 5 days later and two different nails are now chipped. A $50 service should last a solid 2 weeks before chipping in my opinion. I am seeing posts about really fast pedicures; I can attest to that as well. My boyfriend's pedicure was over before I even had the polish soaked off my nails. I took my daughter here for a princess mani/pedi. They were great for her. I decided to give them a try the next day for a gel fill/gel polish. The lady jerked my hands around and only wanted to move them and not allow myself to. She popped every single knuckle by twisting them. She rushed. It was awful. After the second coat of polish I told her it was awful looking. She removed all the polish and decided to try to fix them. After some more jerking around of my hands. I stopped her and said I would return back to my usual place, that it was a huge mistake. They still wanted to charge me $35 for just a gel fill when it wasn't even close to be worth $5. I complained the guy at the desk. He said he would fix for me. He filed them to make them even and then painted them. But honestly, still not worth $35.  They've already been cracking and chipping and that has never happened to me. It looks awful. I would not recommend at all. It's beautiful inside but I am not paying for that, I am paying for my nails to last 2 or 3 weeks. I came here on a Saturday with my mom, sister, and grandma. Literally the worst experience at a salon EVER!  Save your money and time and go anywhere else. He manager was rude, condescending, and unprofessional. Check out the pictures to see how cheap a product they use. Seriously, my kid's nail polish stays on better.  This is after drying for at least 30 minutes. It rubbed off. I got no massage or lotion, or anything with my manacure. I made accommodations to have my 7 year old child's party at this salon. The manager gladly took my $150 deposit for the private party room. He failed to tell me that they would perform pedicures on complete strangers in the private room if the salon was busy. I had 5 strangers basically crash my child's party. Ver unprofessional, rude and shady. The two stars are for the ladies who did the mani/ pedis and made the girls feel special. Otherwise, I would give them zero stars. I normally love coming here but management has recently changed. I purchased a $5 upgrade to get a sugar scrub. The last time i purchased, the tech, Julia, did an AWESOME job. I really felt like i got my money's worth. This time, I got 60 seconds of perfunctory scrub. As i was paying, I asked the "manager" about it, who did the following: laughed at me, shrugged his shoulders at me, and then proceeded to tell me "maybe the last person wanted to do a good job." (no lie).  He actually told me "sometimes, the person doing the service wants to do a good job for the customer."  I asked, "so he didn't want to do a good job?" Again, a shoulder shrug. I treated my fiancé to a pedicure and looked forward to a pleasant experience. We were greeted upon entering the salon. The girl, who lead us to our pedicure stations, was not personable, constantly coughed with her mouth open and assumed we knew where to hang our own coats and how their chairs work!! Came in to the Nail Stop just before Christmas for a pedicure. My friend and I had a Groupon. I had gel polish that needed to be removed. The nail tech literally filed the skin off of my cuticles on several of my toes. I told her several times that she was hurting me and she seemed to not care. Terrible experience! I went in for a gel manicure last week. The technician told me that SNS was so much better for my nails. She said it was more money but worth it. I figured she knew was she was talking about. So I agreed to spend my entire gift certificate that I had gotten for my birthday on the SNS. Well 4 days later while out of town the nails started lifting off. Seriously?! I was so annoyed. Today after getting back into town I went straight to the nail stop. The man... in charge today was NOT going to give me my money back or fix my nails at no charge. I have been to this place many times and never had an issue. The Nail Stop is either completely amazing or completely garbage. I’ve taken my wife here while on leave and while I’m away she’s been several times and sometimes they’re great, her acrylic is smooth and her feet are laid and other times her pedicure is over in 20 minutes and looks like horse ass and the drinks take forever and my baby’s nails look half assed. I have heard of Groupon customers being treated differently, but I have never experienced it until today. I came in with 3 other family members for a girls day at the spa. Only 2 of us had Groupons yet all 4 were treated horribly. We were charged for add on services that were not published on their menu or website. In addition to being nickeled & dimed, the quality of the services received were substandard. Compared to others around us, massages were shorter, steps were skipped, and less product used. So I have waited to review the NailStop until I've visited several times, since every nail service is a little different (depending on the technician, condition of my nails, polish color, etc.). After roughly five visits, I give the NailStop 4 stars! I've had 2 gel manicures and 5 pedicures. The technicians really take their time on the pedicures, trimming, filing, and evening things out. I have always thought I have hard toes to paint (deep nail beds), but they make sure to clean up the edges and ensure no part of the nail is missed. For gel manicures, they are careful to ensure bubbles are gone and clean up the edges to prevent early peeling. Overall, I'm very satisfied! I've only had one encounter I was iffy on, where I chose a glitter polish and the coats were incredibly thick and a bit messy, but I have not seen the technician who served me that time since. Also, a quick comment on the atmosphere - CUTE and always spotlessly clean. This salon has an upscale feel with enough room for large parties, even on short notice. They also have a great selection of OPI and Essie colors. Great work, fun atmosphere (with drinks!), and occasionally even awesome deals on Groupon that save on mani/pedi's and pedicures alone? I was really looking forward to the experience here but I think I messed up when I told her before my services that I had a groupon voucher. The services changed quickly. There was no one there but me and my sister, the way she did my feet you would have thought she had a full house. My feet at the bottom or not smooth at all. And the assistant folding towels had on gloves but I caught her licking her finger with the gloves on while fixing drinks for the couple that came in with their daughters... This place is adorable! Big and airy with lots of windows, cute decor and waiting areas. They have a big staff so we didn't have to wait even without an appointment. My regular manicure cost $17 which I thought was a good price. My friend and I both enjoyed our experience, and she said she gets coupons for them in the mail often so keep an eye out for those. I don't normally post reviews. I went in for a pedicure and SNS manicure. The quality of the work done seemed ok at first. But later realized that there were bubbles under the SNS that "popped". Now there is a crater in my thumb polish. They also did not listen to my color choices. I got regular polish for my toes. I asked for a match of SNS for my hands. The technician said the color was a match. I could tell there was a big difference during application. He insisted that the color would darken as it dried. They are VERY different. At the end when I brought up my concern to the owner he just said, "Sorry. We can apply regular polish over it to make it match." What was the point of paying $50 for SNS then? Very disappointed. I drive by this salon on my way to work and the pretty decor has always caught my eye. I decided to try it this past weekend for the first time.I called ahead of time to make an appointment and was told I didn't need one because they weren't busy, however I showed up 15 minutes later and waited 20 minutes for my technician to come over. I came in to have gel taken off and just simple polish put on afterwards. I asked ahead of time the cost and was only given the cost of the manicure, which they at least kept their word to. However, an extra $10 was added to the bill to have the gel taken off... I've never ever had that much of a charge for my gel to be removed. A little bit of a ripoff, especially when I asked ahead of time. The manicure itself was mediocre. My nails were filed crooked and I left with red polish all over my skin. Not sure I'll be returning. The place is beautiful and welcoming but their customer service is awful - what a shame. I tried them for the first time today as I live nearby and drive by them often. My technician was an older lady so she seemed experienced. She was incredibly sloppy. She rushed through my service, only put one coat of nail polish on my toenails, and was not careful at all when applying the polish - she had to go back and fix many imperfections. She barely cleaned my nails before applying polish, too. To add insult to injury, she kept chitchatting and stopping my service and laughing out loud with the other technicians while doing my nails! I originally had an issue with the way my nails looked, but y'all - I went back and they fixed them! They have went above my expectations!! I do recommend them because of the way they took care of me initially and even after having an issue. Overall, the salon is/was clean, I love the design, it's in a great location and I love that you can sit back, relax - have a drink or two. They are very welcoming, and definitely wanted to make sure you are comfortable. They were able t...o see me immediately after letting them know I wasn't happy after going home. The nail tech was super sweet and I felt bad for actually not giving her the chance I should have. So, my apologies on that! I let my frustrations get the best of me. I got an infection on my toenail my last time! Final straw.We had just moved to Durham and I saw this was close to my house, so this was the first nail salon I tried. The girl did a poor job cleaning up the cuticles from leftover paint, and my first pedicure chipped within a week.  I have never had that happen before! I said if it happened again I would not go back. The next two pedicures the polish didn't chip, but the service was completely inconsistent.  I decided to try SNS nails. The technician just starts right away--NO WASHING MY HANDS!!! NO PUSHING BACK MY CUTICLES!--Before I new it she was dipping my fingers in the power. I wash my hands pretty regularly, but how am I to know if all the other people who used it do the same?!? Totally unsanitary. I'm too meek to speak up, so I just kind of went with it for the time being. I was not happy. Well, not only was it kinda gross, but 5 of my nails were chipped or cracked within a week!!! The first one chipped in 4 days. I went in to have them fix it. The tech picked the wrong color for the powder and did a really awful job applying it. He also filed down that nail super short, way shorter than all the rest. When he was done, there were pools of the gel/powder all along the cuticle. And then he put it under a UV light (?!?) and that one cracked too! Never ever going back. Twice now I have received a pedicure at the nail stop. Both times the technician has gouged my foot with what looks like a cheese grater when trying to remove dead skin. Both times I was left bleeding. The second time they didn't even use anything antibacterial nor did they place a Band-Aid on the gouge. Not sure what's up with the negative reviews. The owner knows me and is always nice to me. I know several of the technicians too because I'm here all the time. Lately I have been getting the SNS powder where you dip your nails and it lasts longer but costs more. They do have a bar inside so I get Bloody Mary. I like them and I don't go anywhere else now. Decided to stop by on a Sunday and check out this place since I recently moved nearby. I usually go to Malibu Nails in Chapel Hill. There was no wait and I was greeted by a friendly lady as soon as I came in and was asked to pick a color for gel polish change ($25). The decor is great and this is surely the largest and best looking nail salon I have been to. However, this is just about it as good as my experience got. The nail tech was not very talkative, which is fine with me. My nails look a bit streaky and not as well shaped as they usually are after my usual salon. Nothing about my experience was off putting but it did not blow me away either. I think I shall stick with Malibu nails where my polish change is $12 and the quality of the work is worth just as much if not more than at this place. Read Less

Beautiful atmosphere and it seems they go the distance to make you comfortable during your visit. However, my main purpose of going here was to get a great pedicure. I got a pedicure but most certainly less than a mediocre one. All of my cuticles were not cut down during the appointment - I was sitting at the nail drying station picking dead skin off my toes. The technician rushed the entire appointment. I did not feel valued during my visit. After only one week of wearing the polish on my toes it has started chipping and wearing off. This has never happened before. I can typically go 4-6 weeks with the same polish and never have an issue about needing to change my polish. The prices reflect somewhere that would spend time on your feet and pay extra attention. I'll be finding somewhere else for my future pedicures. Read Less

Ok so I decided to give Nail stop another try after switching over to another salon. The only reason I went to another salon was because of price. That's it. Nail stop is absolutely gorgeous and everyone was so sweet. The selection of colors are great. Not to mention the positive attitude throughout the salon. Dustin did my nails and he was amazing!!! I showed him a picture of what I wanted my acrylic full set like and he literally did it perfectly. Didn't rush, but also didn't take his sweet time either (which I personally hate because we all have busy lives!) took a decent amount of time to make them look perfect and just like how it was in the picture. I am new to the area, and decided to check this salon out based on reviews. I made sure to get there right when they opened, and I'm glad I did. Walking in is immediately overwhelming - this is the biggest nail salon I've ever been in. It's beautiful. They pointed me to the polishes for my pedicure. I picked one and went to the chair.The pedicure was wonderful. I did the pomegranate one. Massage was nice, and the heated neck wrap was possibly my favorite part about the salon. The lady helping me was very sweet. She did my nails as well.My nails are very thin and crappy. So I expected the bit of cleaning up that I'll still need to do when I get home. But what is great is that she asked me what colors I wanted and then grabbed a few for me to look at - I get really overwhelmed with the swatches. So why only 4 stars? Well, an inspection lady came in and it seemed to really distract my lady. She was still very sweet, but distracted.All in all, I would definitely like to come back. This was the worst experience I've ever had at a nail salon. I normally go to my regular nail salon but I saw there was a new high-end nail shop by Jordon high school so I decided to give them a try. However, the nail technician who did my nails ruined my nailbed by   inappropriately removing my gel nails not allowing them to soak in acetone along enough and started scraping after 3 minute. Additionally, there was a language  barrier, she completely  disregard my request (not remove my cuticle and  not using a nail file  to remove the gel). Once, I had enough of her not understanding me and  destroying my nailbed, I went to management. However, owners/management was extremely patronizinh and  laying to my face saying this was normal. I won't have been as mad if   Owner /management would have a knowledge that their nail technician messed up and ruin my nails and just  apologized.  For what they're charging you expect highly trained nail technicians not  mediocre.**In response to The Nail Stop Response**Your comment shows that your business still will not take responsibility for the job your unlicensed nail technician did on damaging my nail beds. I have reported your business to the North Carolina state board of cosmetology because I don't want one to go through what I had too. I will not let this go. But since you are blaming me for the inadequate job that nail technician performed, it truly shows what type of business you are running and speaks on your character. Great place! Tried it out with a groupon. Groupon said walk in only so I made sure to get there right when they opened for a pedicure. My pedicure was called the Jelly; I think it was something to do with the powder/softener for the water. Overall it just seems like a pretty straightforward pedicure- nice exfoliation and leg massage, trimming, good polish application. Was happy with my value for money using the groupon. The space is great. Really ample number of chairs, including what looked like a private room for parties. Kid area had little pedicure chairs and other toys. Full bar though it was early so I didn't partake. Great service; I think if I go back I will just stick with the basic pedicure at $28, I usually find basic pedis are sufficient for my needs! This place is beautiful! I feel like I stepped into a hone decor studio with glitzy light fixtures, Eiffel Tower icons , a classy bar with colorful bottles, and an array of posh furniture. The pedicure chairs are deluxe and there is even a separate room for group parties. The far end of the salon had little princess pedicure chairs for the little ones. The design is very tasteful and you can't miss the location on 751 across from Hope  Valley Commons. I got a spa pedicure with sea salt scrub and it was heavenly. The lady that did my pedicure was very attentive and did an excellent job. As soon as you sit down, you are offered a cocktail from the bar. They offer wine , beer and cocktails. There are televisions within view or you can just tune it all out in the relaxing pedigree chairs. I am definitely coming back here for my next pedicure. Read Less
