I've been a customer for many yrs. I'm not an owner or relative...im not a paid reviewer...does this place get busy? Yes...if you don't have time to wait, smile and leave...im a regular and if I haven't allotted time in my schedule then I leave, no biggie...the place Is busy for a reason.because they are good and fully staffed most days..its clean and they have always treated me friendly.. (I'm black..and have no problems) another reviewer said they don't like black people.lol..smh...everyones experience is differrent..they have a sense of humor with their regs.. and a new customer ma u think we're fighting or arguing when it's all in fun.. Had my nails done here. When I walked in everyon just stares at me. After an hour I finally get seen. The lady talks on her ones half the time. Everyone speaks in their native tongue. Just not a friendly atmosphere. The work was ok. My gel wrinkled a little bit. Read Less

Atmosphere is amazing, everyone is nice. Mary is my nail tech, she is amazing but all of the women are awesome. They offer you drinks while getting pedicure. I just love this place. They are helpful in picking out nail color. Love them. A tab bit pricey though but so is anywhere else in the triangle. Oh, WiFi included. Read Less

I love going here. I've been going for about four months now and I have had no problems. My nails are always awesome and I never have any lifting. I have been coming here for years and the owners wife has always done my pedicure. Well today she was busy and had another guy do it. I hesitated but the owner insured me he was great. Not so much. Getting my cuticles cut is the main reason I get pedicures and he just skipped over that step, it went downhill from then. No one offered to fix his mistake or discount the bad service. It's time for a change .... I've been coming here for about 2 years on every few months for a treat and it's always been mediocre but gets the job done. My biggest issue is I've yet to find someone in this shop who knows how to polish nails. Some do a good job cleaning them up and there's a guy who does really well on the pedis. Today was just not a good day for nails. I could have done my nails better than The lady who did my nails today. I'll just say take your chances, it's affordable, they are all very nice. It seems like most of the regulars make an appointment with the guy owner. most times I've been there  it's just about decent but today I literally went up the road and had my gel polish I'd just gotten done taken off .... I got a gel manicure here on a whim because I couldn't get in where I usually go. I am really underwhelmed. First, the girl shaped my nails wrong. I specifically said square with rounded corners, but got round. Since you can't really get nail back once it's filed down, I just had to go with it, but I told her to do my french tip with a really thin white line to compensate. I asked twice to narrow the line, but I kept being told it looked good that way. She complained several times about how short my nails were. I don't bite them, so they weren't below the cuticle, I just had a couple break in the past week. (I'm rough on my hands--why I needed shellac!!) I also wanted silver sparkles put over the white tip. After testing it on the first nail, she told me it didn't look good and wiped it off. I now have a line of silver sparkles under the already too thick white line.  Ultimately, my biggest complaint is how much of the clear gel polish was on my fingers. My index and middle fingers of my left hand were covered well over the tips with clear polish. After I left I had to go back and cut the clear gel off the tip of almost every finger. It took a couple days, but I have finally gotten all the polish off the tips of my fingers.The one good thing about this manicure, considering how thick the line is, as long as I can manage to keep it from chipping, it'll look good until Thanksgiving, as that is when the french tip will finally look proportional to my nails.Maybe this was my fault because I wasn't forceful enough with my protests, but I honestly don't think I'm willing to give them another chance to find out. I went on a whim to get an acrylic full set and found an amazing new place very close to my house. I'm glad I didn't read the nitpicky reviews from other people otherwise I would've missed out on a great experience. The shop was packed as it was a holiday weekend but I was seen after a ten minute break. The technician was extremely kind and did a great job. Most of the colors are OPI and I loved the selection. I received a #2 pedicure for $27. They have 4 to choose from the highest price is $40 and the lowest $24. They saw me right away and had about 5 other clients in there when I went around 11am this Monday morning. I received a sugar scrub massage, hot towel wrap etc. My nail technician did a great job. For $27 I can't complain at all.  It may not be as fancy as some nail salons, but it was clean and the chair did give a nice massage.  I would definitely recommend it as an affordable clean place to go. I think I'm being nice for giving them 1 star. I am very picky with my nails especially the gel. Many of you ladies know that it it expensive and so you expect it done the right way. I came here even after bad reviews because my friend had said they're really good. Okay sure I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. So I got a manicure gel and a pedicure. When she was doing my pedicure, the nail polish on my nail kept on bubbling and the border of my nail to my skin was jagged so I nicely pointed it out...she tried fixing it with her nail...got more messed up so she decided to put a polish on top of it. Well that didn't fix it either so i just asked is it okay if we just do it over. Well she did...but of course I can tell she was not happy about it. Well if you can see in the picture she didn't even get the whole side of that nail. I feel bad for complaining so I try to limit it. (See pictures)So on to my manicure. Well the polish kept bubbling again. I suggested to use another polish. She was insistent on using the one I chose. I was like okay sure. Well everything that bubbles she either tries to fix it by  taking that portion out or just covers it with another later. Needless to say I probably have 4 layers on my nails and you ladies know that thicker the gel doesn't always necessarily mean the better. One finger, oddly enough my middle finger's gel polish is distorted, again you can look at the pictures. Some nails have the same problem with my toe nails; it didn't cover the sides. Some bubbles remained. I just said enough because it would have taken me all day if I stayed there to fix everything. I'll give it to her though, she listened to me when I asked if she can have the polish all the way down to my cuticle. So am I coming back here? Absolutely not. What a waste of money. Read Less

I've been going to Tammy and Johnny since they were off of Holloway Street.. They provide the best service in Durham in my opinion. You will definitely get great service and even a joke to make you laugh out of Johnny once in a while. They have become family to me. I've read some of the negative comments that were previously posted and can't help but to think that the people posting those comments are competitors. All that I can say is not to judge by comments and go see for yourself.. I should have known better just from the aesthetics of the place, but was cornered in, looking for a place that could accommodate my 4 friends and i at the same time the day before my wedding.  They were really nice, and took an appointment, then were ready when we waltzed in an hour early.  The price is fair for a mani-pedi, I think.  It was $45.00 french tips on both.  They were efficient and really nice.  It took about 45 minutes for all of us to indulge in mani-pedi's.  My compaint starts the next day, my wedding day!  I awoke to 2 chipped finger nails and one chipped toe nail.  They just chipped like crazy from there.  I would say that they looked alright for 2 days, but past that, I looked unkempt.  I wasn't expecting great things from the manicure, I'm a bit rough with my hands, but I was expecting the pedicure to last at least until after my honeymoon.  I suppose they're using sub-par or old nail polish, because what was left on my nails literally melted off in the sun at the beach.  My first day, relaxing on the beach, and I was a melted, gooey mess with sand all over my hands.  Sexy look!  I definitely won't go back for any nail services.  I will say, however that this is the only place I get my eyebrows done, they do a great job for 8 bucks.
