I have been to this nail salon in the past and had an wonderful experience...Today however was AWFUL. I went in for a full set with gel polish and a polish change on my toes. My nail tech waited until the last minute to ask what color polish I wanted and rushed me to make the decision. I asked for coffin shaped nails and however the shape I received is uneven and blocky. She did not apply a base coat for my gel polish. After polishing my nails using the gel polish she filed the sides of all my nails, ripping the gel polish off the sides. After she was done with my full set she walked me to the register to pay without painting my toes. When I asked about my toes she stated that she would not do them and informed me I would have to wait for another tech to become available for the service and pay separately. I left the salon only 15 minutes ago and my gel polish is already messing up. Read Less

They do a good job on nails. What I don't get is they charge extra money to take off your polish when you get a gel polish change. Isn't that part of a gel polish change, you have to take off the old stuff? Why do you have so many different charges ? Also my gel nails chipped so fast when I got them done here! Read Less

Overcharged me!!! My daughter who is 10 wanted a simple manicure which was fine. During the service I was getting a pedicure, and was never asked if it was okay for my daughter to get “nail art.” Mind you that consisted of two different colors of polish. And the design was just that the background of the nail was white and then they went down the other side of the nail with either red or purple that’s all that was done. So without me being informed of that I get up there to pay. The owner tells me that her nail service is $27 dollars I simply asked for a refund (of the $10.00) due to me not being asked! Because since when do you go with what the child says over the PARENT. He refused to give me the refund and I will NEVER RETURN. I’ve never seen such greediness. EVER. Read Less

The facility is immaculate. The techs are all fantastic. I have been coming here for a few years and there is very little staff turn-over, which is a good indication of how employees are treated. Huge location and really nice technicians. The services are varied and really nice. My manicure was excellent - Mia was nice and thorough. My nails look great and she gave me suggestions on how to stop biting my nails and my cuticles. My pedicure was just okay - I love the variety you can get and the chocolate and green tea smells amazing. My tech wasn't as careful here, and her cutting/shaping of the nails wasn't great and I felt as if my scrub/massage was half-hearted. Overall, a good experience in a big and clean salon. Horrible experience. Horrible customer service. I went in and asked for an SNS fill. Which I have had done several times. The gentleman (I use this term very loosely) told me it would be about 15 minutes. He looked at my nails, verified SNS fill and I said yes. He told me to have a seat. I was told I could sit with the person I came with while I was waiting. Trying to be patient, I waited about 45 minutes. It was now 15 minutes prior to them closing. So I said I think he forgot about me. The girl working on my friend said something to him. He looked up with that "oh crap" face we all her when we forget something. He then blamed me for him forgetting because I "wasn't sitting against the wall." Okay...annoyed but okay. So he has me sit in front of apparently the ONLY person who can do SNS. Upon sitting down, I'm told they don't fill SNS. They peel them off and start from scratch every single time. I've never heard this. They refused to just fill the existing nails I had. The woman next to me suggested that I get my nails done for free (she had witnessed the whole ordeal of him forgetting me). I'm not unreasonable. So I asked if he was willing to discount the 55$ cost of the new set since he was refusing to just let them be filled. He laughed at me, rolled his eyes, and said "why would I do that!? You don't deserve." Really, sir? I don't? Because you told me you could FILL my nails. Made me wait 45 minutes because you forgot I was there because you were too busy on your phone. And then drop the bomb that I had to pay 55$ for you to replace all of my nails (not including the cost with tips) 5 minutes before you closed. And then have the nerve to be rude to me? Absolutely not.Unprofessional. Unorganized. Not very clean (the chair he sat me at was covered in dust from the previous customer). The world could use less eye rolls and attitude. Read Less

Writing this review as my toes are drying because I just couldn't wait to rave about my experience at this salon. The ambiance is so relaxing. It's a very large salon, so when I came it wasn't too busy and there were plenty of space between guests to have your quiet space and relax. They play relaxing tones of music rather than television or tons of people talking. It's clear they're going through some renovating, but still looks very clean. My personal technician was excellent. She didn't force conversation (which I appreciate SO MUCH), and took her time on my "Paradise Spa Pedicure," which even includes a warm, soothing lavender smelling neck wrap and more foot/leg treatment than I'd expect for the price. They have so many more options than what's listed online -- I can't wait to come back and try others! Clumsy me, I of course messed up my toes while walking to the drying lamps, but she fixed it without a grumble. Let me tell you how this is always my go to spot to relax. I'm 34 weeks pregnant and my feet look like two hams. The care that this pedicurist is taking on my feet right now is so amazing I had to hop on Yelp RIGHT NOW and sing his praises. I already love this place but the gentel care that this tired pregnant woman received today after working a 9 hour shift is beyond what I needed. I hate being the person who walks into somewhere right when they are about to close but I had no free time. I came in here at 7:20 roughly cause I was stuck in traffic. No rush at all. A perfect pedicure with all the fix-ins. I got the herbal detox pedicure with the hot stone massage. This was EVERYTHING! I have never been so satisfied with a manicure. Mimi was warm and welcoming, and allowed me to take my time picking a polish color. Once I sat down with my complimentary wine, she got to work. Mimi made sure she knew EXACTLY what I wanted and took her time to ensure each nail was perfect. Mimi was gentle, took her time matching and trimming each tip to fit perfectly,  and made sure the acrylic wasn't thick or on the underside of the nail at all.I cannot recommend Mimi enough. This is my go-to place for so many reasons: convenience, good parking, short wait times, accommodating staff, and consistently good service. Like any salon, there are some nail techs that are better than others but I've never left disappointed or irritated by lackluster quality as I have from many other local nail places. I agree with others that it is a little more costly than other places in the area ($5 for gel removal, etc.) but I'll pay the extra money knowing that I'll leave happy. This nail salon is amazing. I have lived in Durham since I was born and have never found a better nail salon and I've tried them all. The ladies here are amazing and do a wonderful job! I've gotten two gel manicures here, both done by Delmy, and have had fabulous results both times.  My nails turned out flawless, and the gel manicures both lasted a good 2 weeks before experiencing any kind of chipping. I had the best pedicure of my whole life today! My sister & I got green tea pedicures and it was an awesome experience. One of the ladies helped us choose our drinks and recommended the peach moscato (which was delicious). The green tea pedicure was relaxing. We will definitely be back when we're back in town. Not a spa expericence, the little man at the front desk has little man syndrome. He got upset with me, because I was not satisfied with my manicure. I asked for it to be redone and he said that no one could do them but they continued to take customers. He was rude and tried to give me a gift certificate for me to come back another day.
