Favorite cut ever. I've done all kinds of styles and colors (balayage to bobs, blondes to black), but Mel's work is my fave by far.Went in for my first pixie cut; Hustin and Mel were super warm and receptive - we discussed a few images I liked just long enough for them to understand what I wanted, and then Mel moved into the cut with such obvious comfort and enthusiasm that it quickly became by far the most positive salon experience I've ever had. I'm new to Charlotte and picked this salon based on the other great yelp reviews and wasn't disappointed! I was able to easily book my appointment online. I went to Brooke for a haircut since I had let mine grow out far too long and she cleaned it up and gave me a great blow out. She even recommended a new product to use for shine, conditioning, and de-frizz. I would definitely recommended Brooke and the salon! I absolutely love going to see Mark. He has done color for me and quite a few cuts now. He is amazing. I have never received any bad services from him at all. And, the staff are always so nice and polite from the time you walk in the door until you leave. I never, ever, ever buy salon products however I do have from this salon because Mark is so amazing and the salon is too. I just love everything about this place and will never be able to say enough good things about M...ark. January 11th was my first appointment ever at Therapy Hair Salon & Spa. Hustin was my stylist.The atmosphere is laid back, comfortable, and the team makes you feel right at home. Hustin did an awesome job on my first bayalage ever! I already received compliments at work today - this is the perfect coloring for me because i hate when my darker roots grow in. Tasha is ~amazing~. I have very fine, thin hair that grows sloooowly: a combination that makes trying a new hair stylist a scary thing. In the past I've stuck with blunt cuts, short bobs, a-line bobs, etc. to make my hair look thicker. I've wanted to try a ruffled, naturally messy, wispy shag cut for some time, but have been talked out of it by several stylists saying it doesn't work for thin hair. When I showed Tasha pictures of what I was hoping for, she caught the vision immediately and gave suggestions as to the length and layering that would make it work best. During styling, Tasha took care to talk me through how to recreate the look at home. The cut ended up being way better than I had hoped, and actually makes my hair look full and alive in a natural, carefree way! If you are looking for a new salon then look no further! I am new to Charlotte and was nervous about trying out a new salon. My hair is not thin and its not thick, so I was worried if they would even know what to do with it. I searched for hours for the best salon in Charlotte where the prices weren't ridiculous and I came across Therapy Hair Salon. I gave them a call and I was set up with Siobhan. On the day of my appointment I was actually running late and I know that some salons will not see you if you are running late. As soon as I walked in the door Siobhan was waiting for me with a big smile! She made me feel so comfortable and eased my nerves at once. I admit it. I can be somewhat of a hair snob. But only because I have had some very good experiences and very bad experiences and I know enough now that I will do everything in my power to avoid one of the bad ones. I just recently moved to Charlotte which meant I had to leave my fabulous hairdresser in Chicago and also throw away the hard work it had taken me back then to have finally found my lobster.  My hair lobster that is. Fast forward to here in Charlotte where I have put a cumulative of 8-10 hours of research and two crappy cuts/colors to have finally found my hair soulmate. I had been with my previous hairstylist for over 10 years, so when I knew my cut and color couldn't hold out any longer, I made sure to do a ton of research. After reading lots of reviews, I booked my first appointment with Reyn (had my hair done 2 days ago). She was incredibly knowledgeable, fully explained my options when I told her what I was looking for, and completely exceeded my expectations. Last night I had my first appointment with Hannah at Therapy Salon for a color and cut.. I am new to Charlotte and this is my second salon that I was trying out. Nothing was really wrong with the first place, it was just a little far to keep going to. I saw on the website that Therapy had a new client special where with a color you get your hair cut for free - who can say no to a deal like that??? I was about 30 minutes early, and they were able to get me right in which is al...ways appreciated!! I was immediately offered coffee, water or wine. The salon has a cozy feel and everyone was so friendly. Hannah was sweet, she listened to what I said and even pointed out that the color I was looking at had a tint of red - to make sure I was okay with that. She made the experience very comfortable, as if I was chatting with an old friend. My hair came out a gorgeous "dark chocolate" color and the cut was exactly what my hair needed. This review is for Nicole. I have never posted a review about anything before but my experience yesterday at Therapy probably changed my life. I had consulted there before (over a year ago) but never committed until now. In my car on my way to the appointment, 2 minutes from the salon, I was in a traffic accident with a bike (she was thankfully uninjured) so I arrived feeling completely shaken up, guilty, and upset at myself. Nicole was up front - I didn't realize at the time... she was the manager, I just thought she was a very understanding and caring stylist up at the desk between clients or something who listened to my story, wished me well, then went about her way. Later, Tasha* is almost done with my hair and I see Nicole come back in carrying a bouquet of flowers - FOR ME. She also left a bar of chocolate and card with a lovely hand-written note. Crying, I kind of felt worse because it wasn't like I was the one who got hit by a car! Her note and gesture were extremely kind, and I didn't realize at the time but my soul needed her words. I hold high expectations for customer service, and I have tried some good salons here in Charlotte so far. But I will never forget the grace and love Nicole granted me, a stranger, on what could have been a much worse day. This was my first visit to Therapy, and I promise it won't be my last. *A note about Tasha. I was a little worried at first that she was running off schedule, but ended up being grateful for it so I could get myself together. I am in the growing out stage of a pixie cut (read: 10th circle of Hell) but Tasha was patient, analytical, empathetic, and optimistic when it came to making my haircut into that of a person getting back to their "normal". I've been looking for a place that offers a great spray tan and I finally found it!! I booked an appointment with Nicole for a Thursday on my lunch break. Got in and had my spray tan done quickly. Nicole did a great job! She made sure everything was applied evenly! You just need to exfoliate before and make sure not to use moisturizer before the spray tan. The color was by far the best I've ever got! No orangey looking color and I could tell instantly that I was going to love it! The price was too good to be true! I will be back! Read Less

I first went to the Therapy Hair Salon and Spa shortly after their opening. I was so impressed when i walked in. It is such an intimate, welcoming environment, and the staff really makes you feel comfortable and treats you very personally, not just as another customer. I was taken on a full tour of the new salon and all of the fabulous services offered were explained to me. It is so wonderful to have an affordable place where I can go for a full day of beauty and feel so comfortable and at ease. The staff members are all so friendly and engaging you in conversations while you wait. The quality of service is also exceptional. I have only gotten haircuts thus far, but look forward to enjoying the plethora of other services offered soon! I've been going to Mel for several years now for my hair. I change my hair pretty drastically and very often and I've now gotten to the point with Mel where I'll give her a general idea of what I'm looking for (leave it long or cut it off) and let her do the rest. She's great at anticipating what I may or may not like, remembering the colors that worked well on me and can do wonders with my very tricky hair. My hair is fine, but I have a ton of it and it's straight but has a random wave at my neck that very few stylists haven't managed to completely screw up. I love my hair every time I leave there and get a lot of compliments on it. She's even somehow managed to keep my hair in great shape regardless of how many drastic changes I decide to make with the color! I happily recommend Mel to friends and have never heard anyone disappointed with her service. I even got my boyfriend to go to her and she did a great job on his hair as well! Since Kieu has come on board I decided to try getting a manicure with her. I have previously gone to another local salon for their shellack treatment, but wanted to give Kieu and the Gellish treatment a try. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO SHELLACK! Gone are the days of sitting at the bar at the nail place drinking wine through a straw because my hands had to sit under the UV lamps for another 10 minutes before they were dry. I always get a french manicure and I got really sick of the shellack either chipping or cracking and I haven't experienced that with the Gellish at all. My nails have gone 3 weeks looking perfect with the exception of the growth. Kieu takes her time and does a wonderful job with the manicure. The environment in the salon is homey and relaxing. They offer water, coffee, wine, beer and a great selection of magazines to browse through. So far, I've loved the products that Mel has used on me. The shampoo chairs are so much more comfortable than ones I've been in previously and Mel's scalp massages are to die for!
