I have been going to Rose Nails for over 10 years and love it! Not long after I started going Tina gave me the best manicure I had ever had. My nails looked better than they ever had. As a first time customer of Rose Nails, I can honestly say I was not impressed nor will it be a shop that I will be visiting again. I received a pedicure, nail polish change and a nail fix and to say the least I am not thrilled at either. I have coffin shaped nails which aren't easy to do for all nail techs so before she began I asked her was she comfortable with coffin shaped nails, she replied yes. It was after that, that I seen she was not familiar with the shape and not only did she have to try to reshape the nail several times but she then had to ask for assistance (like she should have done initially). My nail length did not match my other finger (because she went solely off sight) so I took it upon myself to assist her by measuring my nails and asking her several times to refile and remeasure my nails for accuracy. I am leaving the salon with nail polish all over the surface of my hand, uncleaned polish around my toe nails and non-soft feet. Read Less

A friend and I had manicures and pedicures this morning at Rose Nails.  I've often gone here and never had a bad experience.  We just go for the basics: no gel or acrylic nails.I like it because it's smaller, comfortable, friendly. The foot, leg, and hand massages are thoughtfully performed.  Staff is responsive to whatever you ask for; for example, I don't like polish on my fingernails, just cut down, shape, and buff.  No pressure to opt for anything else.My tech today was Helen.  I enjoyed conversation with her, and will ask for her again next time I go.  Altho I usually just 'walk-in' when I'm ready, and accept whoever is available - and again, never a bad experience. I really like this place, and I've never had a bad experience. Some of the techs are more thorough than others, but you can always find someone you like and specifically make an appointment with that person. I think it's the most reasonable and most consistent place I've been in Chapel Hill. I also really appreciate how friendly everyone is, even the other clients! Read Less

I was super excited to find this place on franklin and after some bad experiences, I was hoping this would be a good one. The staff seemed super friendly of course until  it got time to do my nails. So I wanted a set of acrylic nails with a matte black color. I asked the old man who was going to do my nails if they have matte black. He said no. While he was doing my nails, I showed him a picture of matte black in case he just didn't know what I was talking about. I mean come on. What nail salon doesn't have a matte top coat? He got super offended and pretty much yelled at me "no! I already told you we don't have that" I'm sorry but If I'm paying $32 to get my nails done, I want them done the way I want. Any other nail salon I've been to has the matte top coat. The fact that he was pretty much yelling at me because he felt offended was so disrespectful. Never again. Also I pay $40 at any other place for acrylics and gel. This was $32 for acrylics and just regular nail polish.Also I uploaded a picture. I asked for a coffin shape. I did not like this place. It looks dirty. They took me to a chair that clearly had ring stains from cups that were there before I was. They do not use plastic lines in the pedicure bowl. The manicurist seemed inexperienced. She was poking me with a sharp tool until I told her to stop because that was hurting me! Then she put a scrub on my legs while they were still dry. That was super uncomfortable. The skin should be wet before applying a scrub. I only went there because I got a coupon but I probably won't be back. I took my mom to get a mani/pedi today at Rose's nails.  I have to say the people who work there are nice.  However, the service was terrible.  It was the worst mani/pedi i have ever gotten.  The polish on my nails was to thick, and i had paint all over my fingers.  The pedi was the same way.  The women was nice enough to fix my nails but it really wasn't much better.  My mom had a different women, but her nails did not come out good either.  I will never go back. I went here a couple weeks ago and got a gel manicure, pedicure, and eyebrow wax. The in-house experience was one of the best I've ever had because the people are awesome! Very funny and personable. The massage chair was nice. The reason for the three stars is because my gel manicure peeled off after about a week (they usually last three weeks for me). i have been several times to this salon---and have always had good service, and during slow times, excellent service. The place is always clean, and the staff have always been courteous to me. The manicures at Rose Nails will last at least one week, and sometimes a little more, but I am rough on manicures. The pedicures have always been my favorite. Read Less

For a cheap, quick mani/pedi this place is sufficient. There's nothing overly remarkable or bad to make this visit stand out as better or worse than any experience I had elsewhere. The staff was nice, it was clean, and I might try again at some point if I'm ever in need of a quick mani/pedi in the future. Short-term, the pedicure was fine. The polish lasted 4 weeks without chipping, but I would have liked for my feet to have more than a quick pass with a pumice. The rest of my foot looked like hell two weeks in, and shortly thereafter the nails were too long for me to run comfortably without trimming them myself. I think the language barrier might have been to blame and I didn't want to make a scene when she said she knew how to do her job since it was a quick fix. I realize longer nails are prettier, but as a runner when they are long enough to scratch the toe box of my sneaker, that's some painful stuff. The manicure experience was much better. Aside from needing to fix a few small spots where the polish was lifting, my nails still looked good for the four weeks as long as you didn't look too closely. Sad to say, but I agree with everyone else's reviews.  I went in on Good Friday for a mani pedi.  They were super busy, but I didn't wait long.  However, the flip side of that was that the guy rushed.  He cut my toe nails pretty short, and did a lousy paint job on them, as they are already chipping, 4 days later.  Then I got a shellac manicure.  I had shorter nails at the time, and after we were done, they guy basically said it was my fault they looked bad.  Granted, I didn't give him the best canvas to work on, but he didn't even clean up the red polish on my fingertips or cuticles before curing them.  Every single one peeled by Monday.  I have never had a manicure last such a short time.  I usually go to Malibu, and they do am amazing job compared to these guys, and are cheaper.  But, at least I learned my lesson and will be loyal to Malibu forever more. I'm shocked by all these bad reviews. Just had my first pedicure there and it was easily the best I've had in Chapel Hill -- better by far than Aveda, Mina, and any of those little nail spots around Timberlyne. Took about half an hour, got off all the calluses, excellent leg/foot massage too. I seem to have gotten the owner as my technician... maybe that makes the difference.We're talking about the place next to Twisted Noodle, right? Read Less

They work fast and are moderately priced so they were good enough. Not the best quality manicure and pedicure I have gotten but it was fine. I did, however, see them pouring paint thinner into their polishes right in front of me in an effort to make their colors last longer. Read Less

I did not enjoy this pedicure at all.  Super short massage. Didn't focus on my callouses or trimming/filing my toenails. When the technician painted my toenails, he didn't remove any of the excess polish that got on almost all of my toes (outside of the nail). I literally could have done a much better job and it would have been free. Never paying $26 for such a bad pedicure AGAIN! Read Less

If this review were only for my waxing experiences at Rose Nails, it would be a four star review.  However, they are a nail salon, and, unfortunately, not a very good one, hence the sad two star-ness.Let's start with the waxing.  They can usually take me right away and do a good job.  I've had the same woman the last couple of times and she takes her time and makes sure to tweeze any stray hairs and trim my brows down nicely.  I'm in and out quickly and the price is right - $16 for eyebrows and face.Sadly, their nail services just aren't that great.  My roommate and I went before Spring Break last year to get our pre-cruise pedis and we were both unsatisfied.  The experience and foot and leg massages were nice but both of our paint jobs were botched.  The polish wasn't smooth on every toe and some nails weren't completely covered.  Another roommate of mine went this semester and also wasn't happy with her paint job.The only positive nail experience I've had here was for a manicure.  I was attending a Jersey Shore-themed party and wanted a black french manicure.  The woman that painted my nails, Annie, was really nice and friendly and we chatted the whole time.  (I always feel awkward when someone is grooming my body for me and we don't talk - even during facials and massages I talk)  My manicure looked great and was perfect for the party.  It lasted almost a week and I was amazed at the number of compliments I got.I go to Rose to get waxed because it's quick and easy and so close to home, but I make the trek to Durham or elsewhere to get my nails did. I've been to Rose Nails two times. Both times my nails have looked pretty good afterward (always got manicures). The manicures seem to last but I don't think the service is really that great for the price. In fact, my last manicure seemed very rushed. She did the ENTIRE service in less than 10 minutes. She did not take her time applying the nail polish or the topcoat, so I wonder how long my manicure will last. I found Rose's nails to be a great place. My daughter and her friend had their nails painted and decorated . Shortly after we left, both girls smeared their nails while biking home. (not a good idea to bike after getting a manicure) We returned to Rose's nails and they fixed it for NO CHARGE! They were very polite to the girls and we had a good experience. I went to Rose Nails today to get a fill, I currently have Gel Nails the liquid kind in pink and white. Prior to going to Rose Nails I called ahead to make sure that they did the Pink and White in the Gel as many places do not. The lady on the phone assured me they did so I was on my way over. When I got there the lady took out the Acrylic powder and I asked her to please use the liquid pink and white gel. She looked at me like I was crazy and then said we do not do here but I can do. So I assumed that meant she knew how to do it. She started to do my nails and being that I have had them done so many times I could tell right away she had no idea what she was doing. So I asked her and she said no she did not know but she was going to see what she could do. She had already started to apply the pink gel or I would have just left then but I couldn't at this point. So she continued and when I asked her what she was doing and if she was going to do this or that next since I knew what the process should be she lied to me to say she was going to do it but then she would do something completely different. She completely screwed up my nails and then made excuses for why she messed them up. I will never ever go here again. Read Less
