Staff was friendly. Maura my stylist was excellent. However I had been given a gift card in 2016. I am a mom of three and super busy I rarely treat myself and when I remembered there was a balance on my gift card I went in to schedule an appointment. I asked about the gift card and was told I had $60 balance on my card. Well when it came time to pay I was told my gift card had expired, and couldn't be used. Is that even legal? Not sure. I do know it is wrong to tell people the money they've already spent doesn't count anymore. I don't understand the logic behind that, you be already spent the money, so it could only be greed . I recently visited for root touch up. I went back for a haircut. I've had a really hard time finding someone who can cut hair. Mara gave me one of the best cuts I've ever had. I only gave them one star because no stars isn't an option. Now don't get me wrong, not everything was awful about this experience, but mostly it was terrible. The receptionist was friendly, it's in a really cool historic location, and the water they offered was strawberry infused and delicious. On the flip side the hair stylist who I had wasn't friendly, didn't listen to me or take time to discuss with me what I wanted, and I ended up getting charged over double what I was told it was going to be:$220 !!! The hairstylist talked over me when I was trying to describe what I wanted and seemed hell bent on telling me why what I wanted would look awful and how what she wanted was more in style and would look a lot better. I've also been trying so hard to grow out my hair for a while so when she suggested a cut I said no. Then she told me she could do these layers in my hair that would be subtle and not show at all, but would give my hair more movement...they were awful! Now half my hair is gone and I have to spend another year growing out my layers that definitely do show and are not the least bit subtle. Anyway it was a stressful and demeaning three hours and I left in tears. So my advice would be: go to your apt. determined to stick to what you want rather than cowering and doing what they want because you will most likely leave very, very disappointed. I'm sure not all or maybe even any of their other stylists are like this, but this one was the worst experience I've ever had with hair and it cost me a pretty penny in so many ways. Read Less

Went for a service , made an appointment for 9 am on a Saturday morning. The person making the appointment did not know the nail tech could not do gel nail fill in. So I ended up driving from Clayton to discover the nail tech could not even do my appointment. This was very dis appointing to me. Came here for a last minute manicure before a wedding. They were nice enough to squeeze me in for a basic mani. So I give them an A+ for that. They offer you water or wine. Definitely chose the wine. The ambience is nice, relaxed and spa-y. Lots of colors to choose from, but the lighting is pretty dark in there, so it's kind of hard to know what color you're really choosing. Although I had a quickie mani, I don't feel my nails and cuticles were taken care of, actually I don't think anything was done to them period. The polish was layered on a little thick, and chipped/ dented after I left because it wasn't fully dry. I appreciate that I got a discount for being a nurse and checking into Facebook (look on their site for weekly deals), and that made it worth while, otherwise, not entirely sure I would come again. As a customer of over 4 years I've had just about every type of service and oddly just about every type of experience you can imagine at Syeni. So here's a full and complete review of years worth of experience at this salon and spa. The setting itself is 5 stars. Located in historic downtown apex, the charming and rustic home for Syeni spa is beautiful and relaxing. The building it is housed in is gorgeous and the owners of Syeni did a perfect job decorating everything from the unique relaxation room to the immaculate bathrooms. If you do get stuck waiting for an appointment I can't imagine you would care since you'll be busy sitting in a plush room with tea, water, and snacks. The spa is also a 5 star experience. I've had many massages and facials and have thoroughly enjoyed every one (except on one lone occasion where the very chatty masseuse kept making me talk instead of letting me relax.) the robes are cozy, the rooms are relaxing, and the products they use smell and feel amazing. The staff for face and body treatments have always been very professional and seem to hold themselves to a very high standard.The hair salon is spotty. I'll say that I have never had a bad cut, so I do recommend them. However, I have had some cuts that were amazing and others that I was less than impressed with. I also had one cut where the shampoo and rinse beforehand was done with scalding water and a stylist that wasn't very careful and kept letting water run all down my face, not pleasant. The nail salon has also very very spotty, with more negative experiences in recent visits. When I first started coming years ago I was always pleased with my nail service, but I haven't had a good one in quite some time now. On one occasion I had a manicure that was slow, painful, and ruined my nails. I haven't had a manicure since because of that terrible experience. As far as pedicures I used to always have an excellent experience, but the last few times have been ridiculous. One time I had a pedicure booked the same time as a friend. Her nail technician didn't even show up until my pedicure was completely done. No one knew where she was. On another time I came with a group of 3 other ladies for a celebration. All 3 of them had their pedicures as I sat and patiently waited for my own. Their technicians got up and left when they finished and no one said a word to me. A woman in my party finally got the attention of an employee to say my pedicure never happened and she said she would find someone. After waiting for well over an hour from the time my appointment was set I said no thank you and left, what a waste of my time! The thing that really bothered me about those experiences is that Syeni didn't try to make things right. They just said oops and moved on. That's just not how you treat customers. On several other occasions I or a friend has been left waiting in the soaking tub for so long that the water has gone cold. It also seems that at least one of the foot spas is always out of service and that there are never enough nail technicians. My customer service with booking and checking out has been less than adequate. Several times I have booked an appointment based on a special being run that they tried to charge me full price for because the person at the desk was totally unaware of the specials. Not professional. Several times I have booked an online appointment and showed up only to be told that their system is having issues and there wasn't availability. They should really stop using an online booking service that has had issues for months on end. I have made appointment requests and been told I would be contacted shortly and never heard from them again. Overall I do enjoy coming to Syeni, but I only go when there are specials now. I really wish the girls at the desk and the nail techs would step up their professionalism and be on time and aware of what's going on (and freaking apologize when you mess up! Make it right!!) I come less and less since the management seems to have gone downhill, but they have enough pros that I haven't completely given up yet. Bottom line:The atmosphere can't be beat and body and face treatments are spot on. Do not use their online booking and if you are taking advantage of a special make sure they aren't trying to charge you full price. You should even bring proof of the special. Don't get your nails done unless you are alone because you may end up spending twice as long as you planned there or not getting them done at all. Went here for a 30th birthday celebration for a friend. We were immediately brought back to the relaxation room which was perfectly relaxing. We had a few minutes to chat and mingle before being led to the nail area.There was a plentiful buffet of mimosas, fruit, little quiches, yogurt etc.  Let's talk about those mimosas - I'm not sure if they made them or just bought a thing and poured it, but they were delicious. I'm not a HUGE mimosa person, but they had me singing a different tune. All the snacks were super yummy and there were plenty for everyone.We were given free range of the nail area and it was sectioned off from the rest of the salon.  We had two nail technicians to give everyone manicures.  Great selection of nail colors.  The girls doing the nails were great.  Not the best manicure I've ever gotten, but almost a week later and my nails still look great - and I tend to not get manicures often b/c they never last so I'm pleased.They did let us know they do diva parties for little girls too, which I'm totally going to take them up on when my daughter gets a little older.I'm thinking about getting some girls together and visiting for my birthday I had so much fun! The salon is beautiful and receptionist was very professional. Darlene was my nail technician to perform my pedicure. Overall I enjoyed my pedicure and the glass of wine that was provided. My only dislike was the nail polish on my on my toes did not last greater than 2 weeks. Typically when I get a pedicure the Polish will last time sometimes greater than 2 weeks.For the price that I was charged for my pedicure the polish should lasts greater than 2 weeks. If I were to return to this spa/salon it would have to be if someone gave me a gift card. Read Less

I rarely take the time to write reviews, but the Syeni salon and spa in apex is worth the time. I met hairstylist Cameron after having a hack dye job from another salon. My hair was dyed back to my natural dark (almost black) brown and I wanted blonde highlights to make it look less flat. She warned me that because the color was so dark she might not be able to get me the blonde I wanted. Not only was she able to achieve the perfect light blonde highlights, but she rinsed my foils in sections so that the part she started foiling wasn't damaged by the bleach. When she finished I had exactly what I wanted AND my hair wasn't damaged the way I've come to expect with bleach treatments.I've been back to see Cameron again to touch up my highlights and I couldn't be happier with the result. My hair has gone from dark, dark brown to a dark highlighted blonde in two visits. Cameron is a huge asset to the salon and I won't be letting anyone else touch my hair from here on out.The salon also has a fantastic atmosphere. The waiting room is a dimly lit "relaxation room" and the staff are always so courteous. I also really appreciate that no one tried pushing hair care products on me the minute my wallet was out. I booked a last minute facial here last week and was not pleased at all. The customer service left much to be desired from the front desk staff who were not very welcoming or friendly. The facial was supposed to be a 75 minute treatment, but it couldn't have lasted more than 50 minutes. I had my hair cut and styled by Cody; I shall now laud him: if Cody was a magician, he'd be called Cody the Transformer. Why do I say that? Because he was able to give my VERY thick hair the exact kind of thin layering it needs to make it more manageble. Actually, make that to make it more AB FAB because after my appointment I walked around Apex feeling as good as Patsy Stone--BBC haters need not read further....but I digress. Horrible experience. We went here the day before my wedding to get a basic mani and pedi. I paid $100 (without tip) and it was totally not worth it. They never offered us anything to drink (even water, not to mention to champagne or wine). They took forever to get the services done. It took at least thirty minutes longer than what they said it would be. Also, the girl who did my nails kept having to redo them because she kept messing up the paint. After she was done, my finger nails did not look precise at all. I could have done a better job, and for paying one hundred dollars, it was a huge disappointment. I'm incredibly disappointed with my pedicure. Scheduled a $65 signature pedicure that was supposed to be 70 minutes of pure relaxation and an extra long massage. It's the first one I've had in 10 months, since the birth of my daughter, and I was looking forward to a little time to myself. Well, the services I receive at the less expensive nail salon in the area are far better, really. The service itself is better, as is the price, at $30-$35 less. If you are planning to visit this spa, stick to massages and facials. Don't waste your time or money on nail services. She messed up my nails several times, paid no attention to the scrubbing, filing or buffing of my feet, and there was no massage to speak of. Not to mention she didn't speak more than five words to me and her phone was on vibrate and went off several times. A total waste of time! Read Less

This is a beautiful place. My daughter and I have been here several times for different services, but always w/ a coupon.  We were very pleased each time. The last time I went I did not have a coupon and I've decided it's just too high priced compared to the rest of the salons in the area. One thing I really dislike is the seating arrangements for the pedicures.  There is no flexibility and you have to put your foot on your technicians knee. One has to sit straight up on the bench (my mother could never go here - she would be completely uncomfortable). The foot bowls are beautiful, just not very practical, in my opinion. I also don't care for their checkout process. It takes way too long.  I love to give local shops my business, but ultimately it's about price vs. value.  Maybe if they do a Groupon, Twongo or Social Living deal, we'll go back, but it's not worth paying full price. Cool little place!They have a nice warm clean changing area. Their waiting area is quaint and just enough eccentric to be fun. After massage they encourage coming back there to chill with a glass of drink. That made the experience more spa-like versus a simple massage. The massage was wonderful. I had Jason (hoping I remember that right). He did a wonderful job of finding the ouches and letting me relax without chit chat. Scheduling was easy. They have enough friendly staff to handle things. I also liked the location in downtown Apex as I always need a good excuse to wander there. Parking is easy as they had an off street lot. Price is good and they offered a frequent visitor reward.
