Red Door Salon in Woodbury is a great setting for a relaxing spa treatment. It's a very inviting spa with a friendly front desk that's exceptionally accommodating. I used to go there regularly but found the masseuses weak. I often left disappointed. Today's visit was different. I had the best massage ever. The masseuse was Montresse. She was fantastic. I was very excited to receive a gift certificate to red door. I scheduled a facial for myself and my friend.  I decided to share and treat her to some relaxation. The space is pretty, the relaxation room was crowded and anything but relaxing.  A group of women laughing and talking loudly.  When I went for my service the first thing the esthetician does is tell me how I purchased an inferior facial. (It was the arden standard facial)  She tried to sell me one for $45 more.  That left me feeling pressured and anything but relaxed.  I told her no thanks.  The experience was not enjoyable and I will not go back.  I get facials on a regular basis and have paid up to $160.00 at Mohonk Mountain House so it wasn't about the price. I have not been to Red Door in years, and have been getting facials done at various other spas. My esthetician Daisy, gave me the best facial I have had since I started getting them 8 years ago. I have stubborn pores and her extractions did not trigger any pain and I did not walk out with a lumpy/red face. Daisy was knowledgeable, professional, and did not pressure me into buying products. I was given a gift certificate for Red Door, and I was looking forward to a luxurious spa experience.  Unfortunately I wasn't impressed :(    It started out pleasant... I was given a locker for my things, a robe, and slippers... it was very promising for a nice experience.  It was relaxing waiting for my therapist.  The waiting room was dim with candles, relaxing music, and water, possibly some crackers.  My therapist was a little bit late which wasn't a big deal, but then she short-changed me five minutes so she could be ready for her next client.  So my massage was 45 minutes instead of the expected 50.  My massage therapist was a very nice person but I didn't love the massage, and I think it was because she did the massage with too fast of hand movements rather than slow relaxing movements.  It was a decent massage but just not my favorite.  I had the expectation that Red Door was going to be something special... but for the money my husband spent it wasn't that amazing.  Afterwards when I had to get up (way to quickly for my taste, as she had another client... It would have been nice if I could lay there for at least five minutes to  enjoy the after-effects of the massage but I had to get up right away.  She brought me water which was nice.... I went to change and when I went to use the bathroom there was NO toilet paper.... luckily there was another stall (handicapped) and plenty of toilet paper there.  Then when I washed my hands... there were no towels!!  Seriously?  I really expected better.  Luckily I found a few paper towels to use in the drawer at the sink.  I saw a sign in the locker room saying there are complementary make-up touch-ups (lip gloss, blush, etc - but no foundation I remember), but no one offered me anything.  When I was looking at the makeup and other things... nobody was around.  So, my end result feeling was that I was disappointed and for the money... it was just not really worth it and I wouldn't rush to go back. I used to go to Fifth Avenue location which was right across from the building where I worked. It was always a pleasure. When I moved to the area, my sister and I discovered Woodbury location and been there couple of times. First, we went for facial which was amazing, we were both so pleased afterwards. Then, we went for massages and it was incredible. Inside of the facility is very clean and relaxing. It became our tradition to celebrate our special days at Red Door Spa. I enjoyed my entire stay at red door in Woodbury. Sylvia did an excellent job of covering two inches or gray with low lights and highlights after which she straightens my hair. My care was done perfectly and although it was closing time she did not rush.the hair came out better then I could have expected. I would normally rate this place 5 stars as I am a loyal customer, but after todays experience I am extremely disappointed. I originally made my massage appt for 1215 and I got a call that they needed to bump it up to 1230, then I received an email confirmation with no notice that it was now for 12. When I called several times to confirm the time of my appt, I was on hold each time waiting for 20+ minutes and always got disconnected. When I came in today, I assumed it was for 12 so I got there at 1130 and was greeted by the front desk woman named Mary. After she checked me in and showed me to the changing room, I was waiting for what felt like an extremely long time in the relaxation room so I figured my appt was for 1230 after all. This woman finally came in to change the water and I had to scream excuse me 5 times for her to acknowledge me. She had her headphones in blasting music and didn't even hear me which is extremely unprofessional. She finally told me it was 1240 and I was extremely annoyed that I was waiting all that time with no service and acknowledgement! She told me she would get me the manager and she never came back! I had to walk up to the front desk in my robe for Mary to tell me she thought I never showed up when she's the one who checked me in!!! How incompetent can someone be to make that mistake?! So I had to have my facial first at 1pm and have my massage at 2 as Mary confirmed. I was pissed off that I had to get my facial done first because then I had to rest my clean face onto a massage table. They upgraded my facial service which was nice, but something I frankly didn't need or care about. The woman who did my facial named Kim was great so I was happy that worked out. Finally when it was done around 1:50, Mary apologized to me again and said your masseuse will be right with you at 2 and I will comp your massage for all your troubles. I greatly appreciated that as I always do have great service here, but I got extremely annoyed again because I had to wait until 2:30 for my massage and was late to where I had to be after!! I confirmed two times the massage would be at 2 which they acknowledged yes then had the nerve to have me wait another half hour. I am so disappointed with the service I had today and think a spa to market themselves as a 5 star luxury spa should be doing a lot better with their service and treating their guests. Read Less

Rachelle does the best make up and Nasareen gives the best scalp and neck massages as she washes and rinses your hair.  Massages and Facials are the best I've ever had. I was lucky enough to get a gift card for Elizabeth Arden's The Red Door Salon and Spa and decided to try it today. I scheduled an 80 minute massage with Craig, Who was more than a masseuse. I felt that I had part chiropractic/acupressure/relaxation/gentle massage/deep tissue massage...Frankly, it was the best massage I have ever had and would go back and ask for him again. I go to Red Door in woodbury for literally every service under the sun. I've had a facial, multiple massages, haircuts, hair styling and makeup application. The environment is hands down the most relaxing salon/spa I've ever been to. Of course with all service oriented businesses, a lot of things (like your haircut) will depend on who you have. Great experience. Booked a last minute massage online and used a gift certificate I've had forever. Hot Stone massage with Montrese was wonderful. Very relaxing. I have been getting facials with Marianna for the past 4-5 months, and she has completely TRANSFORMED my skin. She is not only knowledgeable and well versed, but extremely personable and friendly. I am completely at ease during every treatment (face or back) and trust her every step of the way. It is obvious that Marianna loves what she does, and that makes it worth setting aside the the time and money. I have gotten so many compliments on my skin, and I owe it all to Marianna!!I'd also like to mention that the staff at this location are all VERY friendly and accommodating. The experience I received overall was okay. I've been to different red door spas and had a better overall experience. I got here an hour early because I came with someone and we wanted to end at the same time. We filled out our forms and did not know what to do with it/ nobody came for them. So we just left it on the table. Other locations either they tell you where/What to do with it or they come back and get it after a while.  So for over a hour I sat in their relaxation room. They don't soak your feet or anything. There are only two "beds" and a large couch on that takes up one and half walls.They forgot about us as the person I was with was suppose to start 30 min before me because we wanted to end at the same time. She had to go to the front and tell them. 5 people came after us and they were all taken care of before us. I wound up still having to wait at the end because of this. I also realized I didn't get the full time of service and neither did she. I got the ultimate Arden facial which came with a hot stone upper body massage which really wasn't anything at all. I've gotten much better massages with a standard facial for 1/3 the price at another red door location. So that was definitely disappointing. The facial itself was very good. She was knowledgeable and gave me some good recommendations about products I should use. Everything was clean. They only offered water, tea, and these little cookies. I also wish they let us know about the pool they had because I would have utilized it. They can also order you food and you can sit and eat at the table in your robe. Having been a long time customer of this particular spa, I will be seeking new massage therapy treatment elsewhere due to a particularly unfortunate and uncomfortable recent experience. Not only was my masseuse completely distracted from the onset, but within about 6 min of my treatment I discovered that she was busy texting, resulting in a one-handed massage for the entirety of my massage. At one point, she even put the device on the towel that resting on my lower body and was typing on it. Not only was this extremely unprofessional, but it was also very disrespectful of my time and money. She continued to use her phone throughout the duration of 50-minute treatment while I bit my tongue in disgust. I wish this on no-one and can't explain the disappointment and frustration I experienced when I was only offered a 20% discount. After discussing with the general manager on staff, she discounted my service further and offered a free upgrade on my next appointment. Unfortunately, that will not be enough to bring me back for a second chance. I simply cannot afford to spend hundreds of dollars on a luxury Elizabeth Arden treatment that is anything but spectacular. I had a facial and it was just mediocre and wouldn't return for this service.I usually goto the garden city hotel location and found my facial to be much, much better. However, I did have a very good pedicure at the Woodbury location last week and the front desk was helpful and pleasant.  The relaxation room was clean, neat and quiet although a little crowded, perhaps it was a busy day. What an AMAZING experience. Just went for the 1st time and had the "Hot Stone Massage." Was definitely worth every penny. Can't wait to go again. Craig was absolutely wonderful. Have gotten some great massages and facials from here but my masseuse this time was awful. First the music was broken, I asked her to focus on my back, neck and shoulders but she only did for a short bit and the pressure was horrible. I have been to other red door salons-this  is not up to the same level as the 2 others in Long island which I have visited in Garden City-The massage therapist was meh-I almost asked to be switched but hoped it would get better as the massage progressed-I actually left feeling worse than when I walked in-the massage therapist and front desk were obvious in trying to upsell me massages-NO WAY!!!  Even if discounted this place is expensive- I also thought they would  do free make up consultation but this was not offered-really disappointing experience from beginning to end-I am actually experiencing radiating pain in my arm since the massage- aargh! after I randomly hurt my neck which is still hurting a week later, I thought to use a gift card I had to come here. I mean a fancy spa place must give a good massage eh? Spa day! Every woman dreams about this heavenly day. The design, ambiance and comfort at Red Door spa in Woodbury is very impressive! The staff was very nice and welcoming. I enjoyed my facial with lovely Anita, and I can tell that she is a true pro. Pedicure and manicure technician Ester, was very nice, accommodating and did a great job. Aubrey did my hair color and blow dry, and she did her very best.What I did not like is that I felt product pushing. This happens at every spa, and for me it just takes away from the the whole experience. Anita, who did my facial, said that I must get prevage eye cream ( .5 oz, which I did, priced at $100. same cream is on Amazon @ $50. and rated only 3 stars) there was also serum, which I did not need...I also purchased several items that were recommended by Ester. Maybe it is just me, but, if my spa tab is $687.44 (for facial, manicure, pedicure, single process hair color and a blow dray and tips) please don't make me feel bad if I do not buy a cream. Considering we took the day off from work we were in a bind to agree. She was called into her appointment 30 minutes late as the employee "couldn't find her" in the waiting area and was told "I can fit you in before my next appointment." Edilma is an excellent hair stylist who needed to have a review written about her and some recognition is in order. She knows what style will compliment your facial features. Everyone knows what it's like to see a hairstylist make everyone walk away with the same look, but not Edilma. She personalizes your style for you, a real signature mark, and she never forgets how you wear it, no matter how many times you remind her. It's just not necessary.
