Went to get my eyebrows done the lady was very forceful on me giving her a tip I asked my daughter did she want her nails done and the lady automatically charged me for my daughter nails which where 5 dollars so I didn’t care much but the way she painted her nails there was as if my 7 year old daughter did them but worse they was so sloppy and I asked her to clean it up and she proceeded to tell me that’s it’s okay that should of been a red flag giving them the benefit of the doubt I went to get anc which is 55 the guy did them thick and uneven as you can see the wave in my nail he alsotook off the nails I had on with a fake nail not even with acetone which hurt I’m so upset they didn’t do my daughters nail over and my nails are a wavy thick mess please do not go here this is the worse experience I feel they need to be shut down they have the worst customer service the only thing they got going is a clean looking salon Read Less

I got my nails done ANC here and the people are very nice to me. My nails looked great at First! I ended up getting 2 infections on my fingers and getting cut and half of my nails chipped within 3 days. I will NEVER return here again Read Less

Went in for a mani/pedi. I figured I'd let the quality of foot work be my determining factor on if I trusted them with my nails. I went in asking for a pedi and requested no massage (makes less time right?!) and emphasized that I needed very smooth feet, no calluses, no dead skin. Right before polish, and after foot filing, I saw a whole mess of dead rough skin on my feet so I pointed it all out and told him it needs to go. He said "I will take care of it". Then polish comes, and still dead skin is left on my feet. Then at the end, dead skin is left on my feet. I had to explicitly tell him that people suck on my feet and toes so they need to be SMOOTH AND NOT ROUGH. He trimmed it off, but they're still rough as he didn't smooth out where he trimmed. For $40, not worth it! And no, I definitely did not tip! If it's not custom to take off calluses and remove dead skin, then it's not custom to tip! First timer! Recently moved to Troy looking for a new nail place to get ANC. Loved this place - excellent ANC for $35 which is reasonable for what's included. They give the extra TLC to your cuticles that are much needed and most places charge extra for that. However, they do really need to update their model nails for color choices. I had to rechoose twice and still didn't get the color I was looking for, but still love the color I ended up with. They have some wild choices that are fun especially for summer and weddings. How is this place still open?! I came here a few years ago with my mom for her birthday, nothing they used on her for her pedi came from the autoclave. Not that it would have mattered, it wasn't plugged in. They hurt her during it, the cute one of my nails too short, argued with me when I pointed it out and then before she started to paint my nails I asked to pay and she demanded I pay more than I was originally told I'd pay. So I gave the guy at the counter $20 for an unfinished mani/pedi (my mom ended up not finishing either). A friend of a friend had a pedi here, they filed down a callous so far that her skin split and she ended up with an infection so bad she had a toe amputated. She filed a complaint with the board of health but they said they couldn't prove it was from this place... so their still in business. Wow. Read Less

This place has been going down hill for me.for a while. Less friendly, take less time on Thier work. This time i ANC and the woman was mad I asked her to.cut my nails.shorter than she did. Mumbled under her breathe the entire time and when I asked her what was wrong she ignored me. Then she left color all over my fingers and would not take it off and I had to stay after and remove it myself while she went on to another customer. I will not be going back there again. This was the worst experience I've had, you never leave a customer when they aren't satisfied and make them pay before you are complete and then don't take 2 mins to remove color you carelessly got all over the persons hands. I have repeatedly enjoyed the service I receive at Solar Nails when I get a pedicure. Not only did I have a great pedicure with a complimentary shoulder massage I left my phone behind and they were kind enough to hold it for me. My pedicurist refused the additional tip I offered for his kindness in holding onto my phone. I will continue to return. Read Less

I went there and i had a male manicurist. I was also a walk in. He did everything okay, he was not talkative other than what shape i wanted my nails. he also pushed for me to give him a tip. i paid a total of $17.00 with the price of the manicure included. Although, my service was quick, he did not ask me if i wanted to do the wax treatment, i had never tried it before so i didn't know if i was allergic or not since i have sensitive skin. To retrieve the money, he had also went into my bag and took the payment of the manicure ($15.00). Thats what really turned me off, i had my cards, my phone, and my cash in that bag and he kind of just walked away with it. Read Less

I wish I can give this place 0 stars. People were quiet, not interactive with you or your needs, spoke nearly only Chinese, etc. it gave a very uncomfortable vibe the minute I walked in. The older woman who was supposed to give me a manicure/pedicure told me to pick one color out of any series of colors (she pointed to the wall). I picked a color and she began put a little lotion on my feet, and legs. She didn't massage my feet, she didn't trim the cuticles or pay any attention to detail. Before she began to open the nail polish, I remind her that I wanted gel nails. She told me I picked the wrong color even though she pointed to the wall when I specifically mentioned gel nails. Her English was fresh off the boat bad. She made me hobble on one foot around the entire nail salon to pick out a new polish from the gel nails selection. At this point, I lost it and asked if I can leave. This service has been so poor I almost gave up on nails. I gave Yelp one more chance  and I ended up going to Nail Studio at Clifton Park instead. They have 100x better service, more experience, spoke great English, and worth the drive. Regal Nails at Latham is just as good too! Their ANC manicures are on point. Read Less

Seriously bad attitude by the guy that cashes you out. I mean why would you state that the tip is too small! A tip is not  required so any tips should be appreciated. The pedicure was not very good...no lotion on the legs and no massage. Plus, he said 5.00 extra to remove callus. Really! Isn't that what a PEDICURE is all about! The lady did a nice job. I never get my nails done but I decided to treat myself to a mani ANC and pedi. My nails look good but they did not soak or massage my feet to long. Honestly I would have done a five star rating for the end result except it came to 65 dol total and I was going to leave a six dollar tip but after I handed cashier the tip she said "I am sorry but we only accept at least a 20% tip at solar nails".  Needless to say I gave a 13 dol tip and I truly felt ripped off. A fantastic place to get your nails done. I made an appointment the day of to make sure I got in when I arrived. The staff was friendly and courteous and did and excellent job at my gel manicure. The technician who did my nails was curious when answering the phone or greeting customers as they walked in the door. When the phone did ring she made sure to finish what she was doing on my nails first, before answering the phone. I was very pleased with $25 for a full gel manicure, as most places tend to be more expensive. Have checked out other locations in the area, but I will for sure be coming here again! This was my first visit to Solar Nails and I will definitely return. I was greeted immediately and only waited 10 minutes. It is clean and tastefully decorated. The woman who did my mani pedi was friendly and meticulous, and the basic service includes a brief foot and leg massage, a back massage, and a paraffin dip. I also think the prices are very reasonable-$35 for a mani pedi. They also carry multiple brands of polish, and of course, offer gel, ANC, and pretty much anything you're looking for. Worst pedicure I have ever had. It cost $25.  I'm not convinced they sterilize the tools and the woman who did it only took 15 minutes for the whole thing! I had to TELL her to cut the nails and all she did was ask me about 7 times to get a design on my nails so she could get an extra $5.  I kept saying NO but she just wouldn't listen to the point of rudeness. Then she asked if she could wax my brows. I said NO again. Then she started asking me again.  After 15 minutes of harassing me,  she'd done my 'pedicure' and off i went. When I got home, I saw bits of skin she hadn't removed properly and started getting a hang nail on my big toe. AVOID THIS PLACE. I wish I had read reviews before popping in on a whim.  Worst service, rude, annoying, and below average job in speed time. I wish I had seen the reviews on google.
