I like coming here to get their spa pedicures. And I've always had a pleasant time. However today was not the case. The girl who did my toes and nails was great and sweet. It was the manager Ken who was a push over. He was always asking my girl and other technicians if they were almost done. It made me feel like I was being rushed and I could tell it was making my tech uncomfortable too. I didn't like hearing every now amd then Ken asking my tech if she's almost done yet. I d...on't care if there are other people waiting, I was there first and I expect to feel comfortable and know that the tech who is working on me isn't being pressured to hurry up. If you notice its starting to get busy then politely tell those coming in there is a wait instead of rushing them to a seat and they end up sitting there at a station waiting 10 to 15 minutes anyways. Julie did a fabulous job on my manicure! She really cleaned up my cuticles and the skin around my fingers, filed them nice and round, and used a few coats of the gel. I’ve been consistently patronizing this nail salon for a couple years now. Monday, I left my phone on the pedicure cart by accident, then when I went back to get it it had disappeared ..... well, what do you know: My iPhone magically materialized today in a local Verizon store, around the corner from the nail salon!!!!! Thx to the nail salon employee whose conscience got the better of them to do the right thing. #smh Funny how they thought to turn it into the Verizon sto...re.... ??? They helped themselves to the well-worn Kate Spade phone case, which I’m sure they won’t sell for much (I bought it for cheap). I feel badly for Julie, the owner, because we had a good rapport. There was a bunch of girls who quit at the same time over the summer, and so there are some new employees who clearly don’t understand that the salon USED to be a great place. I have been going to Star Nails & Spa for three years. However, each time I go I swear that I will never go back. The ONLY reason I continue to go there is because there is never a wait to get your nails done. I have had terrible experiences many times when going there. Once, the owner, Julie, told me that my eyebrows made me look evil and that I should get my eyebrows waxed there...my eyebrows look fine. She also made fun of my outfit once....I was wearing Uggs and sweatpants. Sorry I didn't want to dress up to get my nails done. Typically, I have very long, nice nails. I have two jobs and work with my hands at both jobs. My nails broke off and I had to cut them. I went to get gel polish on my nails today so that they would be thicker and not break off so they could grow. When Julie was painting my nails, she kept mentioning that my nails are shorter than normal. When she was done painting my nails, she told me not to come back until my nails were long and pretty again. That pissed me off. At least I'm giving you my business! She also did a shit job painting my nails. The polish is all over my skin and cuticles and looks sloppy. I know I've said this before but I'm definitely NOT going back. I left a positive review the first time I went to this place, but after my experience the 2nd time, I would NOT recommend this place at all. I went to get a new set of acrylics, and within the first week, 3 nails popped off. When I went in to get them fixed (in the middle of an afternoon) there were only 2 girls working and one customer in the place, yet I had to wait almost an hour for them to call the one girl in to do my nails, because the others apparently only do gel nails. So after all that, she was going to charge for replacing the nails that came off, and I told her that wasn't right, since they were a brand new set, and I've never had a problem with nails coming off so soon in all the years that I've had acrylic nails. Even after getting them fixed and a fill done, they were still lifting and sharp along the cuticle, because they were not sanded properly apparently. I ended up going to another nail place a week later, and had to have 2 more nails replaced and she told me the ones I had were so bad, that I might have to get a whole new set already when I go back in 2 weeks. So the original new set which should have lasted at least 3 months, didn't even last a month and is ending up costing me a lot more money, not to mention the aggravation and time wasted. Always have a great experience at star nail, the nail technicians always take their time and put a lot of care into what they do. I recommend getting a chair massage while you're there it's a great add on to your self care routine! My favorite nail place to go. I lost my nail girl of my regular nail shop. I went to many nail shops in the area looking for my new nail salon. I was so happy to find Star nails. They give you water when sitting down in pedicure chair with a warm neck wrap and use liners for their pedicure tubs. I have been coming to this location for 2 years now. I mainly get my eyebrows done. My daughter also gets her eyebrows done. They are not usually busy. I had my nails done once and I was not happy with the work that was done. So I just don't bother to get them done. My mom however, likes getting her nails done. I came by today with my mom and daughter and said we wanted 2 full sets. The lady said oh we are busy come back. It must be so nice to be so blessed with business that you can turn away our business. Meanwhile all the other times we have come we are asked if we need any other service. I will not be returning. You don't tell a customer you are busy to come back. The spa was clean upon entry which is always a plus. I got a simple pedi today. They had many spa pedi options but I just kept it simple. I was one of 3 ppl there when I arrived. Out of the 3, I was 1 of 2 getting a pedi. The water was barely warm when I started and was definitely cool by completion. The chair was nice and massaging and I was given a bottle of water upon sitting down. There was someone next to the nail tech who was doing my pedi who seemed to be watching her but I couldn't really figure that out so it was kind of odd. Then the woman next to me was getting her nails started while she was finishing her pedi. Her nail tech was basically in my lap. The nail tech was meticulous with the polish.  I asked for short nails and her and I must have different ideas of short so it would have been cool if she would have asked about the length. Pedicure was great.. clean and well done. However, the Full set of acrylic nails were terrible. She told me I should take off my current acrylics because they were old so I let her. In the process, she tried breaking my acrylics off with toenail clippers and broke my real nail underneath completely in half.. so much pain. She told me it was my fault. I called an appointment for a spa pedicure and manicure with uv gel nail polish. When I came in I was impressed with the place. It is very clean and everything seems new. The girl that did my pedicure was amazing. It was the best and most relaxing pedicure I have ever experienced. But then the manicure part came. Or should have come.... as I was made to wait about 20 minutes. The reason being that all of a sudden it became busy and a ton of people came in. Everybody was seated and since almost everybody had come for a pedicure all the people working there, seem to only do pedicure, I was left waiting. Finally Julie came and advised me that I don't want a manicure just nail polish. I asked if she will still do my cuticles etc (at this point I didn't need the much advertised massage anymore), and she just grunted something in her language. She then proceeded to apply the polish, while still letting new people in and directing them to sit in various chairs. After the polish was applied I was horrified as it looked worse then when I apply it myself. However at this point I didn't have the time or energy to argue,  so I just left. Two lessons: I would come back anytime for the pedicure (provided it is not given by julie) and Julie might have squeezed herself a few more customers but definitely lost this one and earned herself a bad review. My nails were done by Julie. Though she was very nice, her work was not the best... My acrylics were very lumpy and just were not pretty. This was the second & the last time I will be going to Star Nails. The first time I went I had a male worker do my nails - he took longer than usual but they turned out well. Second time I got Julie - she told me to stop watching her do her work as it made her uncomfortable and nervous, and as I respected that by observing elsewhere she proceeded to do a bad job and I couldn't help but notice that though I wasn't paying attention to what she was doing she was staring at me while she was doing my nails. Okay, while Julie was super accommodating and sweet to me the work was just not up to par. I walked in on a Sunday with not many options last minute, Julie was happy to take me. She was finishing a pedicure and came quickly to start my full set. My acrylics were lumpy and not exactly the shape I wanted and looked like I needed a fill right off the bat. She quickly told me I could come back if anything was wrong, but I know she said that because she herself saw the flaws in her work. Went to get a gel refill. Turns out they don't do liquid gel, only "powder" gel. Beware, it's really just acrylic fill with a gel color polish on top. They charge you more for "gel" refill when in fact it's not, it's acrylic. The lady working on my nails lied to me, she goes by the name Julie. She tried to convince me it's gel powder - she went back and forth several times sayingAcrylic and then gel powder. Very untrustworthy place. I ended up paying $35 for a "gel" refill. If you don't believe me, look at the "gel" container, it's in a Clinique cream bottle. I then proceeded to see if i can see the actual products package- she said she doesn't have it anymore and the manager can explain... My nails didn't come out horrible but it wasn't what i was looking for. I had to keep telling Julie to file them even, the acrylic was on my cuticles and my nails needed to get buffed before the gel polish. Very unprofessional place, she kept answering the phone while placing the acrylic on my nails, and burned me a few times with the drill bit. What a fantastic first experience! Happened upon their location by accident! Walked right in! There are eight massage chair pedicure tubs and 10 manicure chairs. They use a clean plastic "Baggie" in your foot tub and offered me a bottle water as soon as I sat down.I went for the lavender pedicure ($65) which included a hot stone massage for 15 minutes and after my pedicure a 10 minute upper back and neck massage!I feel totally relaxed!The pedicure itself came out nicely! At first I wasn't sure what my sister and I were getting into. We go inside and the owner is screaming at the employees that they don't know how to run a business and yelling that he is going to leave. We get seated for our pedicures and while we wait the yelling continues for like 5-8 minutes. The owner leaves and then the great service begins. They took time to do the pedicure and made sure you were comfortable. They gave us a bottle of water and made sure they really did everything for the pedicure. I was very impressed that they went above and beyond making sure my feet were relaxed at the end. The paint was perfect. Then we got a manicure and they also took time to make sure that was done perfect. It was a great job much better job done than I have experienced at other nail spas. They kept asking if we were happy with how it looked at the color. They wanted to make sure we were satisfied. I will be back again if the owner isn't there yelling and disrespecting the employees that is so unprofessional. Get rid of him and they have a flawless place to get a perfect pedicure and manicure.
