Hair Habitat is an incredible place for salon services. I have personally done haircuts, highlights, and a full leg wax here. The environment is relaxed and welcoming. The stylists have incredible talent. The owner is genuinely kind and talented. There was recently a mix up with my appointment and it never got put on the schedule but when I showed up the owner graciously took the time to cut my hair instead of the stylist I had originally scheduled with. He was very apologetic about the mix up and did not hesitate to offer a solution. When I mentioned I was going to a wedding later in the day, he even did a little bit of styling and threw some hairspray in while he was drying my hair so that it would have a little something extra for the whole day. And he didn't charge me for the appointment. This is a very well-run business that offers high quality services with incredibly talented stylists for reasonable prices. They deserve your business and they'll keep mine! :) Also I know someone who says the barber is excellent for men's cuts! Read Less

Booked an appointment for cut and color. The stylist was late by 15 minutes and then told me that she didn't have time to do highlights. I only booked this appointment weeks in advance given a limited schedule. I've never been to a salon that didn't want to color hair for a customer who is willing to pay. I will not be going back. I visited Hair Habitat for the first time today. It was pretty damn fab. Kaitlyn was my stylist and she was fantastic. She listened to my wants, made helpful suggestions and made a great cut. Love this place! Kaitlyn gave me an amazing cut. My hair was damaged and in need of TLC and a new style. She was able to decipher what I wanted and really needed! I'm thrilled with the cut, my hair has been transformed. Everyone I encountered at the salon was very kind and helpful. The salon itself is beautiful and kept extremely clean. I was searching for an appointment the week before the fall semester, which is naturally busy. Denied by many places, Kaitlyn was happy to come in early to do an appointment with me. Many salons wouldn't offer that, so I really appreciated the customer service.The decor inside is immaculate. As you'll see in the photos others have posted, it has an earthy yet luxurious feel to it. Down to earth but classy. Very bright and airy. A nice place to be.My stylist Kaitlyn (again, can't thank her enough for coming in early just for me) was very good about walking me through the steps of the process because I was doing a big change (cut off 12"+ and balayage; I've never even colored my hair before), making sure I was comfortable along the way. It definitely made me feel more at ease and trust in her abilities.She was very knowledgeable about the whole process of coloring from a chemical perspective. Which, as a chemistry major, I found pretty neat. Maybe others wouldn't care in the way I do about the chemistry, but it is relieving to know that your stylist really understands what she's doing to your hair. The products they use are very hair healthy and eco-friendly, which I find important.Louis offered me tea, too, which I've personally never experienced in a salon. Those little things help to make you more comfortable and at home, so I appreciated it greatly.As for how my hair turned out... I loved it! It couldn't have come out any better. It was exactly how I was hoping it would turn out. Masterful. It's been about 6 months since I got the cut and it's grown out nicely, which is exactly what I was hoping for!Before my hair was down to my hips with a lot of broken strands. I'm glad I got it chopped off because now it's healthy and turns out to be simple enough to style. Because now that I look back, I had so much hair that it just kinda sat there. I'm glad I got over the fear of cutting it, and that Kaitlyn was the one to do it!Just be aware that a process like mine cost about $200. Definitely not cheap, but these services also require a great deal of skill. Don't expect to be getting results this good for $20. I don't do a lot with my hair (I rarely ever use heat on it) so my hair is healthy enough to where I don't need cuts that often. But I think the next cut I need, I will come back. Read Less

A HUGE thank you to Enas!! My hair was over colored and out of shape. I put everything in her hands and she gave me a beautiful new color to match my skin tone and an amazing cut that just falls into place!! I've never posted a review on Yelp before but I've also never gotten such a perfect haircut from a perfect stranger! (Though is doesn't feel that way now)I'm a small woman with very thick hair and keeping it short and styled while away from my home salon has been a challenge. I walked in and told Kaitlyn what I wanted and  was so surprised that she picked up on exactly what I wanted and what my hair needs! She was also super friendly and perceptive.Walking out of hair habitats I wasn't thinking, "well it'll grow out soon and look better", because it looked awesome right off the bat! THANK YOU! I was in search of the best experience possible: a local salon with the highest standards for purity and safety in their products with experienced, inspired stylists. For the first criteria, Hair Habitat is in a league of its own and Syracuse is better for it. Unfortunately, the cut I was given doesn't suit my thick, fine, straight-ish locks. It was all about cutting the length then attempting to make it behave under a half-hour blow out. After expressing my disappointment, I was amazed at how quickly -- and earnestly -- the salon manager followed up to try to make things better. For this alone, I would support this salon. The first time I walked into Hair Habitat, I thought - it actually smells good in here! No chemical smell, no nasty bleach or perm smell....just nice. I love their little touches - tea for customers, an eclectic, but inviting waiting room, and natural products. The best part of Hair Habitat - is Maria. She does an amazing job with my hair and I always feel so good when I walk out of there. My hair is now naturally highlighted and I always love the cut.
