I had a 5:15 appt, I sat there and waited 20 mins before even being attended to. Finally I get sent back to do my pedicure and waited a half hour with my feet in the water and nobody to help me. I called for the manager he said sorry that someone would be right with me. Then a lady comes to help me who clearly just started doing nails and took forever for a simple pedicure. The place is nice, the service is friendly however I feel that they go through the motions and don't assess each client individually and treat all the same. That don't go back and feel the feet or toe nails to see if they are smooth. They barely scrub and file. They dont use cuticle remover cream and they raised the prices. Only $1 but pedicure use to include parrafin now they charge $31. I now have to pay $31 for what I usually pay $25 for a nice place with friendly staff for subpar service. I won't ever return to this nail salon. I wouldn't even give this place a 1 star. First my daughter and I stood there for 15 minutes and I kept trying to ask the different workers a question and they ignored me. Didn't greet us etc...They charged me for a full set of gel and all I wanted was a gel fill on all nails and have them freshly painted. I got a pedicure and it was the worst pedicure ever. The younger women did it and she hurt both my legs and feet. She was rude, did a half ass job , insulted me, and caused me to get an infection on my leg from rubbing it so hard. My daughter had a better experience with an older woman that did her pedicure, but the worker that did her nails didn't do such a great job on her nails either. They had attitudes they didn't even acknowledge me when i walked in the door we even attempted to ask multiple nail techs a question about a nail style they just ignored us and we had an appointment they where extremely aggressive in their nail technique and very quick to overcharge an rush the job. I won't go anywhere else to get my nails done. Brian is the best and consistently cares about me no matter what is going on. The prices are great, I'm always greeted by MANY people as soon as I walk through the door and I've never felt uncomfortable or pushed to do something for more money or anything like that. The salon itself is beautiful but the prices are ridiculous . I cracked my natural nail and came back to have them fix it. They fixed it by putting acrylic on it and charged me $5. That was fine, it broke again the next week and they charged me $8. So in total they got $55 for a fill and designs and an extra $13 for repair. That's $68 for a two week nail job. Disappointing! This was my first and last visit to this salon.The services menu specified exfoliation, but my heels were barely touched, let alone exfoliated. I repeated asked and gestured that I wanted my nailed cut and filed short and rounded. I ended up with straight rather than rounded, as well as jagged, uneven nails, and rough cuticles showing on several nails once the soak moisture went away. I had to fix it myself at home a couple of hours later. Also, at nearly every place I have been to for my pedicures, a brief shoulder/neck massage is given when you are sitting at the dryers. This place is really organized and clean. Mary is a great nail tech for pedi, gel mani, and waxing! She takes her time and does her job well! She has great customer service! I also saw that she has her licenses so obviously knows what she's doing. She told me that she has been in this business for 15 years now and she has experience every type of client under the moon. It's just so sad that some clients are just so rude and mean.. I read the comment that said she "tries to change your mind if she doesn't like the color" and I think that's false....she is just trying to help you find a color that won't look like a huge glob on your fingers and toes. She is just trying to help YOU out...some nail techs won't do that..it could have been the brand or how light the color is.. she is just trying to give you suggestions so you have pretty looking nails. So judging someone's skills on the fact that she gives you suggestions is pretty pathetic...She has more experience than you so she obviously knows more. I'm honestly so upset that I went to this place. I decided to try this nail salon after hearing that the cost of a pedicure is half the price of the place I usually go to. I assumed with the busy location it must be a popular place since I always see cars parked there. As I was getting my pedicure the guy sliced my toe open with the callus remover which I obviously felt, but he acted like nothing happened. I kept moving my foot because I was in pain, so he begins to blow it making it burn even more. He didn't say sorry once and tried to act like the whole thing didn't even happen. Like honey do you not see the blood on the towel? When I then pointed it out to him verbally, he went to get a blue liquid and poured it on my toe. The container was unlabeled and I felt nervous about bacteria and not knowing what he was putting onto my open wound. The lady who was doing a pedicure next to me took a look at it and said it was nothing meanwhile there's blood coming for my toe and I'm in pain. After my pedicure was done the guy disappeared into the back of the shop. Obviously when I went to pay I spoke to the manager and showed it to him and all he did was discount me a measly $10. Amazing job done here. I know a couple girls who swear by this place when it comes to acrylics. I got an acrylic overlay using a free form to give a little length...no tip was applied. This place is the most unorganized place. Also Mary is terrible. If she doesn't like the color you pick she will try to change your mind and make you pick a different color. If she can't find your color she won't pick the color closest to it she just gives up and says they don't have it. Waiting is a nightmare. Don't go here. Read Less

I have been coming to 5th ave nail spa for about two years now and always have a good experience. This morning I opted for the Hot Spring pedicure instead of the normal pedicure and it was simply wonderful and a particularly enjoyable experience! I have been going to this nail salon for 4 years but recently decided to switch. They do an OK job if you ask for Jenny. They don't pay attention to fine detail, which is important when it comes to nail work. However, I will say that they do a good job if you want a crazy nail design with diamonds glitter etc. Also their prices are always different. I love this place so much!! Everyone is so nice and good at what they do! I notice that every time I get my nails done everything is very sterile and clean which very important for me! When ever I go I usually make an appointment and they are very good about making sure you get in and get done at a good time! I have walked in before without an appointment and got right in! It's usually always busy because of all of their regulars who keep coming back! When ever I get a manicure I get gel with the hard gel on top and my nails will stay done perfectly for a month before I see a chip! I really do love 5th ave and recommend it to everyone that I know because they have never done a bad job!!! Nice work! Switched to this salon yesterday from another local shop. (who I have been less than pleased with). I called ahead of time to make sure they could take me as a walk in, and they could. I arrived 15 minutes later and they had a chair ready for me. I got my old acrylics removed and had the gentleman put a new full set on. ($27). This place is an absolute disgrace. I walked in for an acrylic nail set and asked them to remove my old ones and they had to ask me 4 times what I wanted. An oriental 5 minute wait proceeded to turn into a 30 minute wait. Keep in mind I got here at 4pm. Later on a young woman who couldn't speak a lick of English started ripping my nails off to put on the new set. She seemed extremely inexperienced and nervous. I ended up ripping 6 of them off on my own. After that, I got my new acrylics done by a male who seemed like a first timer. My two thumb nails were experiencing a burning sensation and he failed to even acknowledge this fact and did not do a single thing about it. Keep in mind the other lady also made me bleed. An hour and half later, the manicure is finally done after 4 coats of sticky nails polish and they even charged me 9 extra dollars!!! Typically nail removal is 5!!! I ended up paying 37 dollars when the student special was 27. SMFH. I do not recommend you go to this place unless you want your nails to feel brittle and fucked up. Read Less

NEVER go to this place. The staff is rude, the place reeks of chemicals 24/7 because of the poor ventilation, AND they use dirty disgusting tools. I am a student at Marist college and at first I loved this place for they're cheap gel nails, but over time they would use the electric file which almost went through my nail, because they are so rough with it. In addition, I noticed that not only were they constantly butchering my cuticles but WARTS developed on the cuticle area of my skin FROM THEM NOT CLEANING THE TOOLS!!!!!! They do a good job however, many times I have been to this nail salon my cuticles were completely butchered.  When I come in for a gel or regular manicure they use the buzzer tool, which I think causes severe damage to the nail plate.  Also, one time the man using the cuticle cutter tool on me made me bleed severely in all of my fingers.  I was left with scabs on all 10 fingers for weeks.  They also need to invest in a higher quality top coat for their gel manicures because the one they use made my nails dull and it wasn't shiny at all.  If I'm paying extra for gel I expect high quality nail products, especially the top coat. Such a bad experience here. Not only are they rude and my nails came out awful (lumpy, uneven, thin) they are acrylic, but they tried to charge me extra! An acrylic fill for Marists students is 17 dollars. They tried to charge me more and said I was over 22 years old. I showed them my student ID and NYS drivers license which clearly states i am 18 years old and my birthday is in two days. Will NEVER go back there. I'm beyond disappointed. I went here a couple of years ago and didn't like it. For gels. My regular place is closed today and I'm going out of town so found myself here....and they still, well, suck. It isn't well ventilated and smells of chemicals. Their color samples are encased in plastic sheaths so you can't get a good sense of what the color would look like against your skin. Plus the lighting is terrible, I had to hold them up in the doorway to see the colors. For having tons of colors, somehow none seem appealing. Whoever my technician was, it felt like it was her first day. She was not efficient at all. I don't mind methodical but she was also just.....bad. For how long she took, my nails are jagged. There's a bubble 2 nails. Polish isn't even in a few places. Stuff - cotton, debris, I don't know - is in a few as well. She was quite pleasant, just not at all good at what she does. Personal preference perhaps but they use that electric nail file vs just hand filing off the old gel and I don't like it, she went too far on one nail and it burned. Read Less

Although I did wait a very long time both in the waiting area and in the pedicure chair (before they even turned on the water,) I ended up leaving with a beautiful manicure and pedicure that didn't chip for a long time. Unfortunately unhappy with the nail salon.  Went to the nail salon for a mani n pedi. I first got the pedi done and the guy was moving 1000 miles a minute; scraping the side of the ankle/leg with hard sponge scrubber about 3x. Then the owner,Kiro, did the mani and cut my nails so short that 1 of them was hurting me. I asked to her to trim my nails and I left with stubs. I got an apology but was told she couldn't put my nails back on..Really!!  Would not recommend this salon to anyone. Sad because the owner is very nice but niceness will take you but so far. The day before my wedding, I had an appointment for a Friday at 12pm for 6 girls to have mani/pedis.  I called up twice in advance to be sure they'd be able to have all of us.  None of us are from the area, so this was everyone's first time here.  It took us forever to figure out where this place was even, but we finally figured it out and still got in on time.  However, they were not at all ready for us.  The small waiting area was overflowing with people.  After 15 minutes, my bridesmaids were all given pedicure chairs next to one another.  Two people came over to start giving pedicures.  The other three bridesmaids were left in their chairs with their feet in the water for 45 minutes before anyone came over!  We were very patient and didn't make a big fuss, but it was super annoying to waste so much time there.  We had a super busy day ahead of us.  My bridesmaids seemed fairly happy with their mani/pedis (though they could have been lying to me so I didn't worry) but I was not.  I had the absolute worst manicure of my life here.  It was so rushed and took 10-15 minutes total.  After they told me I was done drying, a nail was smudged immediately.  I was so annoyed and late I didn't even care to have it redone.  There were just no where near enough people working here when I came.  There were enough stations to hold everyone who was there, but just not enough employees working.  I just wish the nail salon told us they would not be able to fulfill the appointment when we got there, seeing how busy they were.  Perhaps the service would be better if they weren't so busy, so I'm giving them 2 stars for the benefit of the doubt here.  But I was really disappointed with 5th Ave Nail Spa and will never be back. Totally uninterested & lacked all enthusiasm for the job. Electrically sanded off my cuticles. Got a $25 gel mani & 24 hours later....chipping. HORRIBLE.
