NO RESPECT FOR A CUSTOMERS TIME!!!  I blame myself.  I should have know better, and won't make the mistake again.   I came into the salon for a gel fill and spa pedicure today just like the last time I was here about 4 months ago.   And just like the last two times I came to this salon, I waited to be seen, which is okay.  Then after waiting 15 minutes by the window, the owner moved me to a nail station where I sat.  Another customer who came in after me, who was in for polish change was taken ahead of me, which is reasonable as I'm there for a fill.    I sit for 20 more minutes at the nail station and then realize the tech helping that customer is the person I usually use so I should have been taken first.   Then while I sit getting aggravated, they take 2 ladies, who were together back for pedicures while I waited for service.  At this point I said something to the owner who says 'I'm almost done, I'll do your nails'....  He proceeds to finish the client he's with, and while I'm still sitting here, he proceeds to sit at another station and starts to prep another client.  This is the third person taken by a nail tech, who came in after me, and taken before me.   I blew up- at which point I was moved to a pedicure station 45 minutes after I arrived.   I did not get my nails done here as I won't give them any more money. I have been going to Joyce Nails in Patchogue for 7.5 years now. Every two weeks for a gel manicure ($28) and once a month for a spa pedicure ($45) and eyebrow wax ($8). I just went about an hour ago for my bi-weekly gel. She did white and swiped a little bit of glitter polish on the tips. No extra effort. Nothing exact. Just a super quick swipe of a basic glitter polish at the tip. I go to pay and she charges me TEN more dollars. I said, “wait, what? I don’t understand this...??” She calls over the older gentlemen (manager?) and I explain that I did not get a design or a detailed French or a different color on every finger or anything. He said, “it’s like a French. It’s ten dollars extra. If you got sparkle on the whole nail it would be free.” I said, “are you kidding me? That would have taken her even more effort! This was quick and easy and took no detail or precision!” He refused to lessen the cost. I am disgusted by how greedy they are. I am by no means cheap. I’m there all the time. I tip well. Unsanitary! I used to come here a lot when it first opened and they used to do a good job. And their prices aren't terrible, pretty standard. But I will NEVER go back here again. I just got my nails done and they don't clean any of their tools!!! The guy who did my nails legit opened a dirty drawer with a bunch of tools just thrown in and started picking at my cuticles. No sanitation wrapper or anything. and then when he was done he just threw the tools back in where they were. I'm honestly freaked out, like who knows who's fingers he was picking at before mine. The place totally grossed me out. I was in shortly after they opened. I was definitely the manicurist's first customer of the day, yet when she pulled out her equipment, everything was already opened.  She'd even saved the sterile wrapper which was all crumpled up next to the equipment. Then I noticed her nails. She had a green fungal nail bed infection on one entire hand. I didn't let her cut my nails or my cuticles. After all of that, they charged $10 for just a regular manicure. Dont usualky write reviews hut have to say.... Worst pedicure ever! 10 min wait in chair then 10 min pedicure n out the door. Barely scrubbed bottoms of my feet :( sat down to dry toes and the fan wasn't even on SO agrivated just left. Wasted money. Never going back there! I walked in for a fill in. I was told to "go sit" . The nail tech took 10 minutes before coming to the chair and beginning my fill. After she drilled me half way- the nail techinition said "get up and move" and shushed me to the next seat. I moved and she took another customer and began drilling. So I asked was someone else coming to finish my nails? She said "someone else" so I continued to wait... 10 minutes more passed into her filling another walk ins nails I said " I'm not trying to be rude but I came in before her and you've almost completed her nails while I'm still waiting" at that point an upraw and complete brawl broke out between her and another nail tech who I guess wasn't doing her job. For the past few years, I thought Joyce Nails were the best around however ... that's no longer the case. More and more I would end up disappointed and worst of all, with a chipped gel manicure. You get a gel manicure in hopes to avoid the common chipped nail look. The fact that they would NEVER last, chip within days, look grown out so quickly (cause they don't get close enough to the cuticle) is just a waste of time and money. They don't spend time really making sure the gel is done right yet you still manage to be there for over an hour. There are just SO many better places in the area, don't waste your time going here! As far as nail salons go, this one is on the higher priced end. I've come here a few times to get my nails done over the past couple of years. When it comes to acrylics, they do a decent to unsatisfactory job depending on who you get. Hence the reason why when I have acrylics, I do not come here. They will be uneven and/or lift after a few days. Now when I want a UV gel manicure on my own natural nails, this is the only place I'll come to. May does a fantasic job on that and they last 10+ days easily. Lastly, this is the ONLY place I will come for pedicures. Lucy has been doing my feet for over a year and she never disappoints. I always feel like she gives me new feet and her massage skills makes it worth the $55 for the spa pedicure! So overall, I took a star off for the high prices and another off for the lack of skill on the acrylic side of things. But to be fair, May and Lucy deserve 5 stars for their skills. Read Less

I came here once and I will never come here ever again!!! First of all they made me wait like 30 minutes for them to do my nails. Second of all they didn't clean thier tools so now I have a fungus in my nails and it make my nail come off so now I am getting treatment for my nail!!! While I have tried many nail salons across the island. For some reason I always come back to this place. Now while they may not be the most kindest people. My nails are ALWAYS done the way I like them. The lighting in there can be pretty sucky, especially  when you're trying to pick out polish. A few weeks ago I picked a color that I thought was red, and when I got home I noticed that it was more on the orange side. While, it might have been me, I'm still banking on the fact that it was the lighting. While I had gone in there a week ago, to change my "Christmas Orange" to my usual black, I had been seated and was wrapped up with the tin foil on my fingers to soak off the gel (which by the way I must admit realllly sucks, because I can't use my hands for 20 minutes or so, and it feels like eternity). Now normally, the nail "technician" usually just machine files the polish off, so I was a little thrown off that I had been made into an alien for 20 minutes. None the less... the same man that always does my nails came over and did his thing. Now while he started my nails he was working on someone else as well, prior to me, which that really doesn't bother me none, but this other lady FLIPPED out on this poor dude. And actually ended up walking out and not paying for her services. I was mortified. I understand that she was upset that the nail dude had came and started on me while her nails were drying, she had every right to, he was not done with her yet. But he couldn't do anything else to her nails because they were drying! I know they're are MANY other and BETTER nail salons out there, but my nails always come out the way I like them and I'm usually out of there in a jiffy, which let's get real in this day and age, getting my nails done shouldn't take an hour. Terrible experience today . My sister-in-law is getting married this week so the bridesmaids and I made first time appointments at Joyce nails . They seemed angry when we walked in and it clearly affected our service. I got a spa pedicure that was $35 and it was awful .  The rest of the bridesmaids pedicures we're all smudged and the designs looked as if a five-year-old did them. Then it was time for my fill-in and the owner was now doing my nails. she was not nice at all and was actually acting aggressive toward me.she kept pulling my hands and telling me not to touch the table , or my hair .and the UV gel light was not working because of the way my hands were .she kept rolling her eyes at the other workers and they would speak their language while laughing. My group of girls that I was with are very nice and easy-going so for this to happen to us was very shocking and upsetting. I went in for a manicure and eyebrow waxing the  young lady at the reception desk seated me quickly , but that was it not even acknowledging me that  I have been sitting @ the manicure station for over 15 minutes ! Finely said to the young who  finally acknowledged me have a nice day and thanks for keeping me waiting. Vey rude women she didn't care if she lost a  great new customer. I used to come here regularly and they did a great job. SLOW, but still good. I don't come as often as I used to but im disappointed every single time. My gel polish flakes off within days! It's not cheap either. I'm currently on day 5 of a gel manicure and four of my nails have totally flaked off. Also my toes never seem to dry from here. They smudge hours and hours after getting a pedi. I'm going to assume that's from their polish being old. I won't be back. Do not go to this location! They are so unorganized it's pathetic. When you walk in the don't tell you how long the wait is and when you ask they always say 10min. I went in for a gel manicure and regular pedicure. After 10 min I was put in the chair to soak off the gel. Well then I sat there for 30min soaking! I said something twice and they said a few more minutes.  Finally after 45 minutes someone came to do my manicure. Because I had to wait so long I wasn't able to get my pedicure. So many people were walking out because they were being sat in a pedicure chair for 20min without anyone coming over to them. Horrible customer service. Read Less

Went into this nail salon yesterday. Being new to the area I figured I would try a few nail salons before finding "the one" and this happened to be the first salon I tried and I will not be going back. I wish I had read some of the other Yelp reviewers wrote before I stopped in because they were spot on and  I had a similar experience as some others have had. I walked in at about 2:15 and asked for a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. The women (who was doing someone's nails said "ok pick a out color"   I picked my color, which took me about two minutes and sat down and waited, and waited, and waited.  (Btw, they all looked like they were with a customer and I was the only one waiting) I looked at my phone and realized it was now 2:45! When I got up and asked how long it would be and even asked if I should come back she said (abruptly) "no go sit in back for pedicure" although I said to myself I should probably leave, I really didn't want to go to another salon and I really needed a manicure! The women who did my pedicure was nice enough and did an average job. Then they sat me down at a manicure table and once again I waited....finally a different women then the one who did my pedicure came over and started with that electric file and I told her no so she got up and just left my table.....then another women came over and started to file my nails (did the other lady not know how to use a nail file?) anyway, she filed my nails and left to go start a manicure at the next table! The fourth women came over a few minutes after that and kept apologizing as she finished doing my gel manicure while also doing another women's gel manicure!! I never saw anything like that!! Of course she was rushing back and fourth while trying to do two gels at the same time Four women, 1 gel mani and regular pedi and walking out at 4:55 (I kid you not, from walking in at 2:15) I would have to say I'll be looking to try another nail salon next time. I went in for my nails and feet done first they had me waiting 20minutes to get my feet done while other who came in after me got service then I had wait 30 minutes to get my nails done again people who came in after me got service then as I'm getting my nails done the lady looked like I was holding her up for something. Very clean salon and staff is very friendly BUT they ALWAYS make you wait (with or without appointment). They'll seat you so it seems like you'll be taken care of soon when you can be sitting there for a half hour. It's truly a hit or miss. Only had one bad experience while going there after a few years. I had taken my tips off and wanted a gel manicure but "Joyce" gave me no say and put a new set of tips on because my nails weren't "ready"(reminder: the acrylic full set is what ruined my nails). They have a huge variety of gel colors which is a plus and seems to bring customers in. Highly recommended for gel manicures (at the right time of day). Read Less

I'm so disappointed. I have been coming here for years! The owner does a great fill in. His wife, well she needs to learn some manners and how to talk to people.I had to go to a different girl because "Joyce's" husband wasn't there. This girl insisted on using that drill to file down my nails (I get acrylic fill-ins). I asked her (as I always do) to NOT use the drill. My nails are so thin and weak that they actually burn from the drill. She seemed to be annoyed and then starting talking to "Joyce" in their native tongue (insert occasional giggles here). So "Joyce" then proceeds to tell me that I have to have drill- I have no choice. With that, I told her I do have a choice...and I picked up my bag and motioned to leave. Add some more native language exchanges and low and behold! What appears before my eyes? An Emory board! A nail file. Like in the good old days. Not a tool that cuts the production time in half but leaves my nails burning and aching.So, I let her do my French fill-in (she did a nice job), but all the while kept snickering and snearing with "Joyce", along with some other worker who stood over me like a guard. When she proceeded to motion me for my pedicure (I had come in for a fill in and a pedi - I had even picked color), I told them that not only was I not getting a pedi, but that I wouldn't be back ever again (not nasty, not emotional- just factual), and they stood there giggling. Simply bizarre.I'm sad to say that I will never go back there. There are some awesome techs that work there, but for the fact that I was treated like an idiot (I'm sure my review doesn't sound anywhere near to what actually transpired, but trust me- she was snarky and nasty to the point that the only other customer  that was there turned around in her seat and mouthed "OMG" to me for how they chose to talk to me).Toodles Joyce nails- you're not what you used to be and I certainly don't need to pay you so that you can treat me like crap. I have given this nail salon so many chances....so many...and why? Because a couple of the girls actually do a decent job with French gel manicure but overall they are RUDE and do not appreciate their customers! They speak harshly about you in their language if you ask or object to anything, which isn't professional or fair. I work with my hands and it's important that my nails not break secondary to over filing, so when I ask not to file my nail bed with the electric machine (that destroys the nail) they get mad! Truth is, that's unnecessary...gel polish comes off after a few minutes of soaking but they just want you in and out. If I reviewed Joyce's when I first started coming it would have been a given 5 stars but lately I haven't had the greatest experiences. They are sometimes very under staffed and you have to wait a very long time  with or without an appointment. On days like this they also rush the manicure/pedicure.Other than this they are very good and I have been coming here for years. There is an overwhelming amount of gel colors and they have the entire Essie collection which is awesome. Prices are on the lower side I've seen for gel manicures and pedicures. 99% of the time I get my eyebrows done they come out great. Waited 1/2 hour just to sit in pedicure chair another 20 minutes while other people who came after me went ahead of me because there was one person doing gel pedicures. Then it was going to take another hour to get my gel manicure done so I chose just to do a French manicure and that was going to take 25 MINUTES!!!!!  First impressions are everything!!! Read Less

Joyce and Ricky are absolute miracle workers!! Joyce has been doing my nails for over 5 years now, and i will not let anyone other than the two of them touch my fingers!! I hate to say it, but I've been known to be super picky, and a bit of a nail snob, and when i found them i fell in love! The amount of time, effort and perfection they put into their craft is incredible!  I also have a couple crooked fingers, that they manage to shape the nails to so you cant notice at all! they truly are not only great at what they do, but are also wonderful people.  The pedicures there are also amazing as well! whether i am in a rush, and get a basic pedi, or a fabulous spa pedicure, you never feel rushed and are always pampered.  In the Patchogue salon (as they also have one in Islip Terrace, and i go to both and as i said i can be super picky), Jenny is amazing !!!Yes sometimes you may have to wait, but all good things in life are worth the wait!
