Ok so I have been coming to this place for a little over 3 years ever since I've moved into the neighborhood. I am a loyal customer of Selina's (the younger girl that speaks the most English there). She is very sweet and she does nails very well. I usually get a gel manicure and from time to time change it to acrylic tips with gel color/design but for the most part I usually keep them short. I have been asked by them to write a review for some time but now that I am extremely dissatisfied with their service I will be writing an HONEST review. I just came back from getting a fill in on my acrylic wrap nails and decided to do a simple french manicure and foot massage: 1. Selina was always the one I would see until I started getting acrylic and she said that she no longer does acrylic nails because she has some sort of allergic reaction...........ok yet i see her doing other clients nails that include acrylic. The lady in which she referred me to see is apparently the only one who does acrylic nail (Ada). She is very rough with the little machine and she doesn't understand a word of what I'm saying. Listen, I am all about everyone working and doing what they need to do but I really don't find it conducive to a business that operates in the financial district and only relies on one person to translate everything. It doesn't make for efficient work and the client is not able to communicate with their nail technician what they would like without disturbing the only one who speaks English. I find this time consuming and makes the unnecessary frustration. With Ada doing my nails (about 1 year now) there have been far too many instances where I tell her to cool it with the machine or not be so rough and she doesn't understand. I know it can seem like I'm being snobby when I ask another to come and translate for but honestly this is just unacceptable. Let's remember they're not cheap. With that being said, I would think that they would take a little more precision and time to make sure that your nails come out clean. I just walked out of the salon not even an hour ago and my french gel clear coat on my left hand looks like a 3 year old painted my nails where it is not smooth at all and the lines are not clean. I could've easily asked the lady to do my nails again (three fingers on my left hand) but at this point the nails were dry (i noticed once my hand was out the UV light) and I was fed up with how they operate so I didn't want to bother with asking them to repair something once again. I don't mean to tell anyone to do their job but if there are many negative reviews, its for a reason. I really do believe they have the potential to do great work but I think in their part they should at least understand a little more than basic English in order to have a better communication with each client. It's frustrating to the customer to walk out of there paying a very high price for mediocre service. Today was the worst manicure I ever got. The lady rushed me to pick a color and she was in such a rush it gave me anxiety. It took her 10 MINUTES TO paint my nails. If it were a busy day id understand her trying to rush but it was completely empty. She didnt file my nails and didnt ask me what shape I wanted my nails to be. She did a sloppy mess. I couldn't wait to come write this review- I WILL NEVER GO BACK AND THIS PLACE IS THE WORST.I only came here because I saw that the manicure pedicure special was $25 and in my normal salon the pedicure alone is $39. I knew it was risky but when i walked inside the place looked nice/clean enough. As soon as I walked in it was the usual, pick a color, not too friendly. The lady asked me what I wanted and she automatically said it was $26.50; where the 1.50 came from I still dont know. They sent me to the back and I took chair 7. Nobody came to set it up and have me soak. The lady came after two minutes, didn't say a word; usually they at least greet but nope! Anyway, pedicure had to be less than 8 minutes no exaggeration. I had to ask her to scrub each foot because she wasn't doing a thing. No massage, no nice amount of lotion- nothing! I then went to the manicure seat and the lady- CINDY, really asked me if I wanted my cuticles done. Isn't that the point of the manicure? she rushed the whole thing. I used to come here all the time but not after today. I had arguably the worst pedicure ever by nail tech Amy who went so incredibly fast she managed to mangle my toes (shown in attached photos). She never once apologized for CUTTING THE SKIN AROUND MY TOES. When it was time to move on to my manicure she instructed me to grab my own things, my fingers being covered by foil and acetone. The manicure was equally as fast and my nail shape is not at all what I wanted. My nails are uneven and narrow. I also had to point out hair in the nail polish on my nails to Amy. I am probably the sole man to write a review for this place, but that's fine. I came in for a quick manicure, its been ages, and I poked my head in, to inquire about the costs. "How much is a manicure for men"? "Lady grabs my hand and basically escorts me inside "$10.50, "10.50". Okay...okay...Onto the manicure, it was quick, not much to do, but it was fairly standard---however, one thing I found exceptional was while she was massaging my hand she assisted in popping my thumb back into place-that feature alone should have gotten them five stars from me. I took a star off for the pushiness to start with and the fact that while I was paying she stared at how much I took out of my count and stood right next to me, to ensure she would get a tip. Ok so I've gave this place many chances, and this time as been by far the worst, my manicure looks like I did it my self, the filling , the cuticle cutting, the painting everything was just wrong, oh and let me not forget to mention roach I saw just walking around the cabinets..please save your time and money from this place ...HIGHLY UPSET Read Less

I love this place! I've been coming here for almost a year and my nails always look good. I'm super picky, I love my nails long and sharp, and of course, same shape and length on every nail. I was born with healthy and strong nails, but I kept breaking them as they were getting longer. When I considered getting acrylic tips, they explained the full process to me and I took the risk and tried it. I've had the same tips for over 4 months. I get a fill in and gel over top every 3-4 weeks and I am always very satisfied. I'm always treated with respect and everyone is super friendly and helpful. I finally found my nail spot! Try them! Came here for a quick acrylic fill in before the lunch crowd. The lady told me the wait would be 5-10 minutes. I patiently waited for 20 minutes as my nail technician swept and restocked the nail stations (ok cool, I'm in a good mood). I even remained patient as two other people came and were serviced before me by other techs.Finally when it was my turn my nail tech proceeds to say "You have gel, it's going to be an extra $5 to take off" I was fine with that until I saw her take out the electric nail file. So basically she wanted to charge me $5 to FILE off my gel instead of soak. Huh?!I asked her again why she wasn't soaking it off and she said that's not what they do. Everything in me screamed "Leave, they are charging you to do something they were going to do to your nails in the first place - file them."  I expect to pay more in the city which I'm completely ok with but I absolutely HATE being nickel and dimed. Here's a no frills review: It's been three weeks since I paid $25 dollars for my mani-pedi and I am still pissed that I gave this establishment my money.My nails chipped within two days and my pedicure, which usually lasts up to four weeks, lasted 3 days. Maybe it was because I went during lunch time, but I felt as though my manicure was done sloppily. She only did two coats and the polish was still sheer. After asking her to apply a third coat of polish, I realized that the part of my nail closest to my cuticle wasn't even painted on some of my fingers. I came here in a pinch because I hate having gross nails but I think my lack of research bit me in the butt. I get the phrase you get what you pay for, but 25 bucks is still a lot for a manicure that I could have done better myself. I won't be back here again. Read Less

I am really surprised to see all the negative reviews.  Maybe I get better treatment as I have been going there regularly for YEARS.  Don't go during lunch (it's crazy busy) and save your $$ by skipping the Spa Pedi.  Julie gives a great shoulder massage as well as mani/pedi.  That's all I do there, no gels or tips or anything.  It's the kind of place you get told to pick your color immediately upon walking in and if you ask how long the wait is, it's always 5 minutes, whether it's 10 or 20 mins.  That being said, if you go around 2:00 and get a mani/pedi they will do a good job for the price. The worst manicure ever. I had to ask her to remove the polish since there were remains of lint and my nails were not filed evenly. The manicurist's hands were dirty and she damaged my nails. Mediocre service, a little rushed but definitely not with the price. Paid 83 $ without tip which was an additional 10$ for a poorly executed pedicure and a medium acrylic +gel 'manicure '. Was not a real manicure barely cleaned my cuticles and still have gel residue on my fingers and worst of all didn't paint the whole entire nail either on the  pedicure or supposed manicure. Asked for almond shape but some fingers look more like a potato than an almond. Should have stuck with my regular spot. Read Less

Came here for a pedicure. I wouldn't have come here if I saw the reviews before, but I didn't check the yelp until I felt like the woman was really rushing through it and then it all made sense. Filthy. Everything has a layer of dirt smeared on it. I wanted the basic $25 mani pedi & they kept trying to upsell me. Other places that offer the same price/ service do a much better job. No leg, hand or shoulder massage included - not even 30 sec worth. Literally, the bare minimum is done. forgot my slippers so she pulled out previously used flipflops with the heel cut off for me to use. Gross! Not impressed at all & certainly not returning. I went in for a gel mani and regular pedi. She rushed through the whole pedicure, she barely put any color on my toes. And she was rude about picking a color and didn't give me anything to wipe my hands   And when I didn't tip her she started talking to me nicely asking me why I didn't tip her. Read Less

UGH I guess I should have read the yelp reviews first. Got a gel manicure here less than 24 hours ago. The gel is currently only on 4 nails. It has already chipped off all the others. Complete sham. I should have known better because I read the reviews before going, but I try to be optimistic. This was hands down the worst experience I've had at a nail salon & I have been getting my nails done for a long time. They charge $58 for a pink and white acrylic French manicure fill, a service that apparently no one working there knows how to do. I started with a girl who clearly had no clue, so after failing miserably, she asked another technician to finish the botched job. She seemed to have a better idea of what she was doing, but still not completely, to the point that I was trying to explain to here what to do. In addition to all this frustration, my nails looking terrible, and a lot of wasted time, the owner tried to tell me that they were going to have to charge me for a full set instead of a fill because the constant filing by the multiple technicians left my nails shorter than they would be if I had grown them out myself. The two technicians that worked on my nails were very nice & were doing the best they could, but the owner was extremely rude & unprofessional. If it weren't for the fact that the technician worked so hard to try to make them nice, I would have complained & refused to pay, but I didn't want to make her feel bad. If I could give zero star, I would but I can't so one star it is. This place doesn't even deserve one star. I came in for a mani/pedi because I lived nearby. First, the place is not clean, they didn't clean the equipment after each use, and the didn't rinse the tub, I saw them just wipe wipe then that's it. Second, The lady who did my foot was extremely quickly, when she buffer my toenails, she didn't even tough the toes but did it on my foot. I had to ask her to buffer my actually toenails. When she painted on my toenails, she didn't fill my entire nail and she got polish all over my foot (not toes, but foot and heels) how? I don't know. I was extremely upset and how rude she was when I asked her to fix it. She rolled her eyes at me! Excuse me, I paid for a service and it needs to be done right, so you did it wrong. I gotta point it out to you. The least you can do is to fix it. I told the owner and she didn't seem to care because she was on the phone. I requested for a different person to do my mani. And I heard them call me a "bitch" in Chinese. I don't speak it but I understand. I will not recommend this place to anyone, your money is better used elsewhere instead of this place. Read Less

Truly horrible place. I have been probably six times because I had just moved to TriBeCa and was desperate for a salon. I have since found a new one and vow to never return here ever again. I had a pedicure here - it was rushed. Took about 10 minutes total. She refused to do anything to the bottom of my feet unless I paid her $10 extra for callous remover. I have no callouses to remove!!! I had a full set here once. Four nails were broken within a week. I had acrylic fills several times. Every time they were horribly shaped, unevenly filed (some parts were SUPER THICK others were incredibly thing), and the paint job was always sloppy. If I'd ask her to fix anything she'd get really confused and tell me it is supposed to look like that. I have also had them make me BLEED from doing my fills!!! Because they were not looking at what they were doing they would cut my fingers with the electronic filer. She was literally looking around the room and talking!!!! Another time she actually CRACKED my acrylic nails from not looking. It made a crazy loud sound and then broke of. I have also had a polish change here. I asked her to file one mail that was uneven and she charged me an extra $1 for it. Yes it is just $1 but it is ridiculous considering it took her 5 seconds to do. This is a HORRIBLE place. Came here for a regular manicure. I didn't read the reviews or I probably wouldn't have come in; but my nails turned out fine. Price was weird ($10.50). They sat me down at the nail station; then I had to wait five minutes for the nail tech while there were a bunch of people just sitting around doing nothing. It's not the friendliest place in the world; but my manicure looks good enough. Guessing it's hit and miss depending on which tech you get. Read Less

I live right down the street from the salon so I thought I would give it a try. My neighbor actually told me not to go here but I wanted to be fair. I should have taken her advice. I wanted a gel mani and peti and three acrylic tips put on. I got 3 different prices from 3 different people who were all speaking over each other. Yikes!Anyway, the girl pulled out a large hole cheese grater (  I kid you not ) and proceeded to remove my callous. Immediately, i knew then this was a mistake.  I stopped her and she literally played it down as if everyone uses a cheese grater on their callous. She kept reminding about how much the callous gel was. Another note of worth, the place is very dirty. They never used sanitize utensils or tools on me and I was watching. I won't bore you with the rest of the visit but know that I paid my bill, yet did not tip anyone. They do not deserve to be tipped for awful service. Read Less

Walking by while in town I stopped in as I desperately needed a pedicure. I don't know the standards for the salons in the area but I would say I am happy with what I got.I would give 5 stars for service but when she first applied the acetone to my nails (I get fell on my toes so sneakers or boots immediately after application isn't a problem) instead of foil which conducts heats and speeds up the soaking process, she used plastic wrap. My toes were freezing! I knew already it wasn't going to soak well enough and when she got back she silently frustrated so I chimed in that she just needed to apply heat. She ended up putting a hot towel on my toes which was nice after the ice soak. From there on it went perfect. The results and the 15 minute massage she gave me at the end were great. I base this on my Socal standards which I could recognize might not be the same.  I often question the lack up change that goes on locally in LA. Read Less

Can't believe how bad quality is the gel polish! !! I went there on Monday, and it turned to so nasty day by day, on Friday already become so dirty color. Not my go to place by any means but it's near my job and they are very quick in getting you seated. Not worth the price but that's neither here nor there. I'm more upset at the random upcharge out of no where. Pedicure on the price list I have at my desk said 17$. The price list there at the salon said 18$ yet my receipt said 19$... then theres the "I don't really want to touch you even though I offered you a massage twice" little rub they do while you're signing the receipt... yea, stop that. It's not cute and it makes everyone involved uncomfortable especially when it's lasts all of 2.5 seconds and u just walk away without a word when you're done. The rent in fidi is high so I'm sure they would LIKE to upgrade their furniture and polishes but unfortunately I don't see it happening anytime soon.
