Please know that I am EXTREMELY particular about my hair.. it's long and curly and does weird things when unsuspecting stylists approach. I went these place on monday, was the only one open around. My stylist was very gentle but i feel like he was a beginner. I used to have a hair salon in my country. He trying to be nice but also the place was very big and i dont know why they send me to the second floor what looks like empty and remodeling.I have to go downstairs to wash my hair, other guy did for me but i feel sad for him cause an old women was there pushing him given instructions right on top of me. I planned go these place to relax and spoil me a little but after that i just wanted to run far away, he didn't finished to dry my hair so i went out in a frizzy day with my hair wet.I will never go back cause also i was planning to do manicure and they dont do it anymore.Waste of time and money Read Less

Had a very unfortunate experience here. Went in to get my hair a few shades darker, looking for more of a dirty blonde while I was platinum at the time. They dyed my hair dark brown. When I told them it was not anything close to what I asked for, they told me it was a temporary dye so it would fade out anyway. Both my mom and I are regular customers at CarLeo and always book our hair appointments with Maya. She is one of the best! This summer she returned my dyed blonde hair to its natural dark brown color and did a beautiful job. The process was easy, quick and comfortable, and she used top of the line hair products. The salon is nicely decorated with modern decor, clean, and conveniently located in Midtown. All the staff are friendly and professional, you can't go wrong. It's a really nice environment with almost all friendly staff. The reason it's missing a star is because I was getting a haircut​ from a barber who just started there and one if the veteran employee was treating her nasty and talking down to her, especially when there were clients there. Best salon in the city hands down! Beautiful, modern decor and super clean. Staff is always so courteous and professional and they always do a fantastic job - especially Steven. I've been going to him for almost 4 years for everything from a basic blowout to haircuts and keratin treatments and he never disappoints!  A huge kudos to Lisa the owner for always being so friendly and running a classy, well-maintained ship! I came to NYC for a gala and needed to get my hair style in an up-do and my nails done. I searched for a salon close to my hotel, found Carleo and I booked online the night before the event.I was very happy with the up-do created by Susan. I've come to Carleo salon twice and so far so good. I see Marianna for cut and color, mainly cut and she's a sweetheart to work with. I must say the two times she has cut my hair I was so nervous because I don't like it cut off much and when she does cut it..it feels shorter but once I'm home I look at it, I realize  wow this actually looks really good! They're very friendly here and Lisa is such a sweetheart as well. I was once super late to an appointment and they still accommodated me! Thumbs up for Carleo Salon on that. I have blond hair and will follow my stylist, Steve, anywhere. He is amazing. Amazing. Amazing. In a sea of bad nyc blond, he keeps this  Minnesota Finnish gal in tip top shape. This is a wonderful salon and I'm so happy to have found it.  I discovered it on Yelp, based on the reviews and proximity to my day job on 38th St.  Even though I don't work around there anymore, I still make the trip as it is totally worth it.  Marianna is fantastic - I've been going to her for cut and color for almost 2 years.  She listens to what you want, while offering her opinion on what will look good.  We end up coming up with a combination of both most times, but I've always been happy with the result.  She's always talking with the view of how your hair will grow out and what will make sense down the road for your particular style.  I'm wearing it in a really short bob now, a little longer in front, so if you've got a short do, she's a safe bet (she's cut it when it was long too, so I can attest to that too).  For color - I get a 1-process mainly to cover the gray (it's dark brown), and it comes out great every time... lasts a fair amount of time and never gets that "coppery" look that can come out of these dark colors.  Never had highlights done, but I might try it soon, and would totally trust her. The staff is super friendly, it's clean and they've been able to accomodate on short notice many times.  Oh... and the PRICE is amazing.  The total for cut and color is one of the best deals I've seen in Manhattan.  In this case, you get a great price for great quality and great service.  5 stars. Great service. I have a very hectic schedule with work - I happened to be in the neighborhood, knew I had no other time to drop by the salon so I figured I'd just give it a shot- I showed up last minute without even making an appointment. The lady at the front desk was very welcoming. I was attended to in no time for a Brazilian wax. I had previously bought a loot from lifebooker. The lady who's name I cannot remember ( Marina?) was very sweet and professional. It was a very pleasant experience. I bought a yelp deal and am very happy with the results. Very nice service and great professionals. I got a haircut and mani pedi, usually salons rush you but not here. I definitely will return since I work on the area.Pricing is moderate which is nice for midtown. I'm never looking to pay too much though service suffers at times when that's the case or get hassled for tips at lower priced nail salons. None of that here. Overall pleased. Read Less

I bought a lifebooker for an ombre highlight/haircut/blow out. Martin was my stylist and he was great. I told him I need something that will look special but still needs to be professional because of my job. I was a bit nervous at first because the ends of my hair is already lighter than the top due to a previous single process. He suggested not to go too light but with a few strands of highlights that are lighter. It turned out amazinggg. He also used a toner to make sure my hair won't turn out bronze. I'm Asian and I've had really bad experiences with bleach and light colors in the past. The only reason why I'm giving 4 stars is because I wish he cut my hair an inch more. I did tell him I want to grow my haircut but I still have some split ends that should have been cut off. Overall, it was a really good experience and the staff were really friendly. My 12 year old had her first dance and I wanted to get her a blow out for this special occassion. She was less than thrilled with the prospect and complained as we looked for a salon between the orthodontist and the Path Station. We came upon Carleo and I persuaded her to go it. Lisa had us wait for Martin. While my daughter was having her hair washed Martin came to me to ask what we wanted and I explained that she wanted some curls but nothing fancy. Martin said the magic ...words that relaxed me and made me feel so comfortable: that she would looks like her. Martin did a beautiful job even with me pacing and looking at my watch because we were running late, my fault, not Martin's. The ear to ear smile spread across my preteen's face when Martin was done was priceless. She was so thrilled when we walked out. Martin made a moment I pushed on my kid that could have ended in tears, fabulous. I adore Martin and my kid with the baby thin, stick straight hair was asked twice if she had clip ins or extentions. It was a miraculous job. The icing on the cake was when I called the next morning to ask for an email addres to thank Martin. Lisa remembered us and told me how happy my daughter's smile made them. I am not by any means an active yelper, but I felt the need to make this my first official review.  I was a bit skeptical to come here after reading prior yelp reviews, but I decided to go in anyways since I had purchased a deal on lifebooker.  Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised with the end results of my hair cut and color appointment.  Alex was wonderful. He showed me pictures and we decided on a hairstyle and balayge/ombre coloring that would match me.  Everything turned out exactly as he described.  =)  yay!  I have posted a pic of the back of my hair for reference... sorry no before pics to compare, but trust me, major improvement!  I'm very low maintenance and wanted a natural look.  Here's what I've decided after having the cut and color for a week now...  still looks great and easy to manage.
