Its true the place is very outdated, they use paper towels instead of towels for everything. I wanted to like this place but unfortunately, it's not the top nail salon around NYC.I came in for a regular manicure with my friend on a Saturday afternoon and was greeted by the host once I walked in. I was appointed a lady to prep me for my pedicure which went completely fine until she started painting my nails and I realized how thinned out the colors were that it barely left colors on the first coat. I had to ask her to paint 4-5 coats before the colors were opaque.. which was quite disappointing. This has never been an issue with other salons but I totally understand it's not exactly the control of the manicurist but rather the quality of their polish.I had the same issue with the polish for my manicure and had to have the technician paint 4-5 coats before the color was substantial to my satisfaction. I also felt like the technician wasn't the best because my nails weren't filed straight but she was glad to fix it when I asked.Overall, while I appreciate the hard work of the technicians, I will not be returning to this salon because my nails did not last more than a couple days. In other salons, I went at least two weeks before my nails started chipping through wear and tear (and these are regular, not gel manicures!) Affordable mani/pedi but never sticks to appointments.The owner is extremely RUDE!! Not only did she hang up the phone on me when I called to ask if my lady whom I love was available earlier, but then when I arrive she told me that she booked her another appointment and that she only had time for a pedicure.Lupe is the best!! I wanted to love this place-the reviews seemed great and I'm fairly not picky when it comes to a mani/pedi in the city...Unfortunately I will not return here. Nail polish selection is limited and a lot of the Essie's seem old and cakey. The pedicure chairs are simple rotating chairs into sinks that are built into the ground. I didn't get the vibe that it's very clean or sterile.My nails chipped a few days after getting them done and the polish is now peeling off (5 days later). I'm not overly tough on my nails so this shouldn't be happening so quickly. On average, I start noticing chipping 5-7 days in.For $30 for a mani-pedi, I expected better. Pedi was quick and sloppy. Someone stole my credit card and went to this salon and celebrated on my expense. Every establishment that I called to retrieve the stolen transactions was according to law and helped by looking for the receipt by the amount and name. And cancelled the transaction. BY LAW - if you don't have my signature on the cc receipt, you must cancel the transaction. But the manager of this place hung up the phone on me and refused to even check - something that she has to do. This place, which took care of a thief and hung up on the victim, was rude and unlawful. And I will report them.I highly advise to NOT go there. Fast, friendly, excellent service at great prices! Stress relieving massages only $10 for 10 minutes! the surroundings are nothing posh or luxurious, and you do have to climb a mountain of steps to get there, but the great work they do at unbeatable prices makes it more than well worth it! Stopped in for a pedicure one evening at Soho Nails. I was slightly apprehensive as the salon is located up two flights of stairs on the third floor. However, they were almost completely full, indicating that they certainly have a good following!The pedicure was great (I also paid slightly extra for a callous removal), as was the 10-minute massage (for $10). Prices were reasonable and the staff friendly.My only complaint was the pedicure chairs. They are swivel chairs with very low backs, making them slightly uncomfortable to sit in for so long. I called specifically to ask if they had massage chairs (seriously it's NYC, how are you competitive w/o massage chairs?) that you sit in while getting your pedicure. Was told "yes". I take a 15 minute walk there and the place not only doesn't have massage chairs, it's like an old salon from the 90's w/no new equipment at all (but weirdly an ATM). I am almost 30 years old and yes.. I have never had a brazilian wax before. I've always heard these horror stories that I never felt the need to put myself through it. I get my legs and eyebrows waxed once in a while and one day just decided to finally give it a try. Since I work around the area, I wanted to go somewhere nearby after work. I took a deep breath and walked in, more like hiked up. The lady I had was about my mother's age. I felt a bit awkward at first, but she was so sweet! The pro's of soho nail are obvious. They are the cheapest mani / pedi / wax in NYC. A Brazillian bikini wax is $20!!! Although, I called on the day I needed an appointment and when I showed up the girl couldn't find me in her book. She asked what time that day I called and she informed me they had stopped taking appointments for that evening by the time I said I called and 10 people were waiting already for services. I was totally frustrated by this. She made it seem like I was making it up I had an appointment! So my only advice would be to get the name of who you are speaking with when you make an appointment because they aren't very organized. Read Less

I really like going here when I need a last minute mani/pedi. The place is always busy but somehow I always manage to get my nails done without an appointment. I actually discovered this place when I visited here 3 years ago walking through Soho and can't believe the quality of service and LOW LOW prices (especially for Manhattan) at this locale. Recommended also for waxes, although I am a bit suspicious of the sanitary conditions. Don't go here if you want you nails done for your wedding day.... Better for casual purposes. Read Less
