This place is simply the best. A lot of people get annoyed because they don't take walk in appointments but they do this so that they don't have to rush and do a sloppy job on your nails. Ai is the best!  I hesitate to write it because I don't want her to get completely booked and then I won't be able to get an appointment but I have been to see her 4 times and every time I come out with the coolest nail designs.  The CalGel lasts in my case between 2-3 weeks due to nail growth BUT has not chipped ONCE!  I think that is extremely impressive after trying many nail art studios in NYC.  The other nail artists and the receptionists are all so accommodating and kind.  My advice is call to make an an appointment now because they book up quickly.  Thank you Ai and everyone at Marie Nails! Not as clean as you would expect from a business managed by Japanese. It's pretty booked and they are known for their fancy designed nails but I don't think the technicians are particularly well skilled compared to other Japanese salons. My nails came out neat and the staff was friendly but I wasn't really impressed after hearing so much hype - The place was small, no proper waiting area, and could really use some cleaning / fresh coat of paint. The nail technician did a good job on my nails. They seemed to have the best prices, however, prices are subjected to increase soon. I'm rating them 2.5 because the environment and personality of the people was not welcoming. I made an appointment to get designs and every design I asked the technician for, she told me she didn't have the time to do it. So, I just settled with adding a few studs. The next day one of my studs fell off; and when I went to get the stud replaced, they seemed as if they didn't want to do it. The two obnoxious ladies that I engaged with had the nerve to remind me that I didn't leave a tip, and cornered me as if to say I should leave it at that moment. They are okay. Gel manicures do not include any cuticle work. If want you a gel manicure and to have your cuticles done, don't come here. Also, my nails look okay I guess, I'm not super impressed because I don't think they were all filed evenly. Will try elsewhere. Read Less

I've been coming here for about 4 years and it's nothing short of perfection. The staff is so truly friendly and professional- in the 4 years I've been coming to this salon, I have NEVER had an issue. Not one single unhappy experience- and I think that says a lot about a place and their longevity.The gel always lasts 3-4 weeks and I rarely experience peeling during that time. If I get my nails done every 3 weeks- it's always good and looks great. This place books up weeks in advance, so be sure to book early as walk-ins may be difficult. I've been here twice so far, and both times my nails turned out great.  The technicians I had were very friendly and nice to talk to.  They both did an awesome job with the nail art I had asked for.  The only thing I was slightly disappointed in was that both times I went, they did not have the color I had wanted ):  To be more specific, they did have a color similar to what I wanted during my second visit, but the tech had told me that she did not recommend the brand (which I greatly appreciated). First visit, I got a french manicure with glitter line and an acrylic bow. Second visit, a reverse french with glitter line, crystals and holograms. Loved the results!  Both took about an hour or so.  It can be pricey depending on what designs you get.  So although I'd love to have cute designs from Marie Nails more often, I only come for special occasions.  Will definitely be back though (:Also...definitely definitely definitely book as early as possible!  I called about two weeks in advance and there was only one time available for the date I had asked for. A little bit of a shabby nail salon but would you believe this place was cheaper than Studio L? I mean both are on the double dollar side in terms of prices and are top contenders on nail design quality-- but Marie Nails was listed on Vogue Magazine soooo, there's that.Anyways, I really liked their receptionists at this locations it was a breeze to book appointments and they were courteous the whole time there with every patron, it was nice that the lady doing your nails wasn't getting interrupted with every walk in-- the receptionists took care of all that. I even noticed one of them had their nails done in this crazy cool design (of course what she got done was priced at $100 but way to show off the esthetician's skills! I thought this was neat!) The esthetician who worked on my nails matched the nail design I picked from a magazine perfectly, I docked a star because the sticker she used for one nail tore off on day 2 which was disappointing. I will try their Elizabeth Street location to see if their salon is a little nicer, this one had uncomfortable chairs-- I don't know about you but getting nails done is enjoyable to me and I like to keep it that way, I don't want it to turn into a chore so comfort matters greatly. If you can't do it just say so don't have me waste my time and money. Aside from being nothing like what I asked for, the gel itself is thick, uneven, and bubbling. LOVE this place.    i go here on the regular*****HOWEVER******   this review is about my not so good experience there recently.   I had a bad technician and my gel nails (which were in the $70 range) started lifting after 5 days.    I called and they said they'll do the nails that lifted  for free (which should obvious be free, but okk....   What that really means is that they'll just put more clear gel on and it didn't really solve the problem.  The gel started lifting at the same places 2 days later.     I thought they would redo them because the first tech obviously f*cked up.    i shift my schedule around to get an appointment, don't mind paying the money, but when their tech doesn't do a good job, i get treated like it's my fault.   So bottom line, when u find a good tech you like, stick with them... and when you get a bad tech.. make note and you're pretty much SOL until your next appointment. You really have to piss me off for me to write such a negative review. I spent $70 on birthday nails.Gels are supposed to last approximately 2 weeks. Prior to that, I noticed discoloration and chipping at the ends. So, on the 9th day, I called and the receptionist told me to come in. Their next available appointment wasn't until 4 days later. During that time, an entire gel nail came off. I went in for my appointment and was told that there was nothing they could do as they only guarantee nail quality for 7 days even though gels are supposed to last double the  time. I decided just to have them removed and they said that there would be a $10 charge. Are you kidding??!Thanks for wasting 45 minutes of my life on my day off in addition to commuting costs. Worst management. Scam gift cards. Overcharge add ons. Come here if u wana feel hustled. That being said the nail artist Hiromi is incredibly talented. I came here and they sold me a gift card. Gel nails and toes with cuticle care. They put me on a wait list since they had appointments booked all week. They called and said they can fit me in. I ran over and they started on my toes. They later said there's no time for my nails but they will charge me for it and honor the quoted price since doing it separate days was more. I inquired about a nail design. They said they will do it for $1 extra and I agreed and made my appointment. I got in and they spent 30 min telling me it's gona cost $60 then they said $26 for the new design. So I said let's just do what I paid for (cuticle and plain color) and they said it's gona cost over $5 more since I'm doing my nails a separate day. They won't budge on it and also said they require tip. And want it in cash. I didn't have cash. They said the over $5 more I can't pay with cc cuz they require minimum of $50 for cc. What a racket!! Basically they told me to come but ran outa time for mani. Had me come back and R overcharging me for their mistake. I argued for over 30 min and my bf called and argued to no avail. The management here simply does not understand or perhaps just doesn't care about customer retention.  In sum, the nail tech R artists but management is awful and ruins the fun nail experience. So....I NEVER write reviews but I really think I should start so my First review ever is going to be with MarieNails. I always wanted to try the Japanese Nail Art trend so after extensive search on google, I narrowed it down to two places. Sakura & MarieNails. I chose MarieNails cause I actually follow them on Instagram and I thought the designs were really cute so I decided one day I won't be lazy (I'm from queens) I'll take the LIRR and then train it to Soho (you can take the Local C or the E going downtown from Penn Station and get off Spring Street)My first visit to Marie Nails was the one in Soho. They are extremely particular about time so if your appointment is at 12:00 - 2:45 - 5:15, whatever! You better be there on the dot (weather they are ready for you or not) and if you know your going to be running late, you HAVE to call at least 5-10 minutes before your appointment time and let them know your running late otherwise 2 things will happen..... (1) You'll loose time and you won't be able to get the design of your choice (depends how elaborate it is) or (2) they'll give your space to someone else aka a "Walk in". They are strict on this and believe me, they have every right to be. If it's your first time here, Your going to walk in and be like WTF is this place? It's extremely tiny and not very presentable BUT be prepared to be AMAZED. Whoever chose this little hole in the wall Nail spot obviously knew his\her technicians are more than up to par and know their sh*t. They probably know they don't need a beautiful looking place to "wow" you. My technician is AMAZING. I showed her a picture of what I liked and she NAILED (no pun intended) it!!!!!!! I got a nail extension cause I wanted my nails long and I've been dying to try the "pointy" look (but not too pointy) and she shaped my nails thin and beautifully!!! It looked extremely classy!!! Not cheap\ghetto at all. I have a Calgel and I love it. I can't describe how good she is and how sweet she is. She really helps you in picking out designs and she takes her time too.I just went to MarieNails for my second time today! (I went to the Nolita location, which btw is even smaller than Soho I think? or maybe the same size, I don't know!) Everyone else who gave reviews here when I was debating on this place was 1000000% Correct ---- After one visit, you WILL BE hooked!!!! I've never been so excited to get my nails done. Literally, I cannot wait for my next appointment. I'm constantly looking at new designs for my next CalGel fill in and I'm constantly admiring my gorgeous nails.You will thank everyone who gave great reviews about this place because it's true... Don't even think about it....just call and make your appointment. (You have to make an appointment, you won't get a spot otherwise...unless your extremely lucky) I've been here twice already and my bill both times was $100+ (thats only because I LOVE bling, and I love really elaborate and detailed stuff....however not everyone likes that so if your not "too" fancy...you'll be fine! - I also heard this place is cheaper than any other place in the city so thats also good! and they accept Credit Card over $50.I get compliments on my nails EVERY day. The manicures here are amazing. Unbelievable really. This is not the type of salon you come to for a pampering experience, where you get a massage, or that type of thing. This is the place you come to if you want to rock ridiculously intricate and beautiful gel designs for upwards of three weeks. If you are reading this, you are probably having a bit of a dilemma. You are possibly pondering: 1) if you should get Calgel, and 2) if you should come here to get it done. Ponder no more my friend! You should definitely get Calgel done here! Marie offers Calgel services at a reasonable price (cheaper than Sakura), and the end results (your nails)will be wonderful!Went there 2 1/2 weeks ago, and it was my first Calgel experience. The nail tech (I forgot her name) was very professional, and experienced. She did a wonderful job with my nails. My nails were so beautiful looking, and is still looking great now. The nail tech painted my nails black with silver gradient glitters on the tips, and made a very cute white bow on each 4th finger. Getting Calgel at Marie has made me receive many compliments about my nails. I am utterly beyond satisfied with my experience here that I have referred many people to come here.The Calgel process is pretty quick, and your nails remain intact for up to 3 weeks. It has been 2 1/2 weeks so far, and my nails still remains the same (no signs of chipping at all, and it is still shiny), even after many attempts to try to get it chipped/damaged. I am scheduled next week for another Calgel experience, and I am looking forward to it!P.S - Calgel may seem expensive (compared to what they charge for a regular manicure). But if you do the math, you are actually saving in the long run because one Calgel = 3 regular manicure (not including the tips you pay your nail tech for those 3 trips you make to get your manicure done).So make an appointment at Marie's, and get your nails done!
