I've been a handful of times, last time was just before the New Year, and I'm honestly not too impressed. My favorite aspects are the interior vibe and aesthetic. The plants and Mason jars and rustic look are a great touch. The music is also very soothing and I'm happy they don't play basic top 40 songs or rap. They claim to be a non-toxic beauty salon, however they lose some credibility since they also provide brands like Essie which are nowhere near being non-toxic. So, I'd say they're selectively eco-friendly. Also, they should serve organic loose leaf tea, not toxic cheap single-use packet Trader Joe's tea.I'd have to say my least favorite parts of the salon are my overall experience as it relates to making me feel welcome, that my business is appreciated, and that I'm being taken care of by top-notch professionals. I'd say I have a pretty solid basis of comparison given that I've been to Tenoverten, Valley, and Sakura on several occasions too (and I was treated better and my nails looked and felt nicer at all these locations). My main issue is with one of the main front desk girls, not sure if she's still working there. If you encounter her, you'll probably know who I'm talking about. She has a phony smile on the whole time, terrible hospitality skills, and overall sounds and acts condescending. I made an appointment around two months ago and specified my best friend and I would like to have our manis and pedis done at the same time (duh- like that would even need an explanation). Anyway, I arrive 10 minutes early and ask if I can sit by the pedicure booth since it was empty, and the host said sure. Three minutes before our appointment was scheduled to begin (so, we're still technically early mind you, NOT even one minute late) I'm told, not asked, by the pretentious host that we'll need to begin without my friend, even though she was literally parking her car, because they're busy. When I explained my friend will literally be here in less than 3 minutes and she's just around the corner so can we wait, the host denied my request. So my friend and I had essentially overlapping appointments and at times were awkwardly conversing across the salon amidst other guests since we could not sit next to one another from start to finish. The host is way too uptight and acts holier than thou. She had left such a sour taste in my mouth (there are other specific examples that are too long to go into here) that I will literally not return to Hortus. Read Less
