Really sloppy job the last 2 times I’ve been here. Too expensive to continue to make that mistake. This is a gel manicure - you cannot let my skin be glued together by the polish. Updated to one star because I wrote this the moment I called the nail salon and hung up. Not once was my card refunded. They didn't ask anything about who I was nor was any offer given of a refund. Then now after my post the owner is writing that I should put on here that a full refund was given and I'm the liar. Contact me, give a full refund, I'll put on here that you did. Just because you don't like a review doesn't make it any less true. Or show me where the refund was given. Looked around for a new nail place and found here. Went 6 days ago and got the dip powder. (Which I've gotten multiple times at other places and normally lasts 3-4 weeks). And my nails have already began to pop off. I've always needed them taken off because of how strong they were and now they're just popping off like stick ons. I called to ask about it and they said they would fix the ones that have popped off. I asked if I could just come in and get them all off (baby due soon and wanted clear nails on for a while) but was told I would have to pay even though they're already falling off ‍ Sticking to 2 stars because I feel like the experience was a 4-star when I got them done but I just don't feel happy about the quality and service I got in the long run. Very friendly staff, great haircuts and hair treatments. I went to a salon in Easthampton for many years, but kept being bounced to new stylists. I won't go anywhere else now! Tiffany has been doing my hair for over a year and every cut is great. If you are having a color treatment, while you wait under the dryer you can paint your nails at the free nail bar! Very cute place on the upper west side. Very small but seems to be popular. This is a very clean establishment with nice variety of colors and specialities. I finally got my holiday dark red gel. Hopefully it does not wear off bc the other place I tried on broadway had a very bad outcome. The reviews seem great so I think I found my go to spot. It is pricier compared to other places but I would pay more for good quality. I would suggest for the employees to put on music. It was quiet the first hour I was there till they placed music a little towards the end of my visit. I never mind salon technicians using their phones for personal calls but some others might. The atmosphere is beautiful, great music,very knowledgeable and helpful staff. I got a great scalp massage while they washed my hair out. It is very pricey and I would have liked a better idea of prices before hand. You find out at the end and I was quite shocked. I inquired before coming and it was at least double what I was quoted. I gave 4 stars because I still enjoyed my experience but would have liked to be better prepared about the price. The first time I went to Carve. I was a little(maybe alot) shocked at the price. However I knew all too well it was fault. First you don't use a box dye without making sure it is truly the color you were expecting. I used one box wrong color tried to correct with another. The result was truly Bozo the clown!! Carolyn was so patient and so gentle. I knew I had to try it again. When your husband walks through the door and says it looks fantastic. You know it's great. I've been searching for a good nail salon since moving to NYC a year ago and finally found my new go-to place. Small establishment, so definitely make an appointment in advance. Each technician takes her time and they are all so friendly. After 36 years I love my hair, Wendy was amazing and made me feel so beautiful ! She was talking to me like a friend and really helped me find a cut and color that i love - I really was impressed with the welcoming feeling. This nail salon is awesome. What a gem and a great addition to the neighborhood. As soon as I walked in I noticed the relaxing vibe and it is decorated so nicely with velvet chairs and old-timey bowls for feet soaking. It really feels like a special spot with attention to detail, and not a typical generic nail salon. The girls were all really nice and one of the owners was there too. Maybe you are only supposed to do gel here but they did a very mediocre job for a normal manicure. First off, I had them take off gel and they didn't even file down the polish like you are supposed to. The manicure I got was messy, and they didn't even clean the polish around my nail. I had a really good experience here! Angelica did my nails and she was extremely thorough. It was my first time getting a dip powder manicure and I loved it. My appt was for 2 but we didnt start until about 2:20 or 2:30 (which is why i took a star off) Regardless, Angelica did not rush through my appointment. She took her time and ensured my manicure was flawless! This is a small space but it's functional. All of the staff were welcoming and pleasant. Yesterday was Rosé day so we were offered a cup of Rosé if we wanted. I plan on going back when my manicure grows out to get another. Love this place! Read Less

I had a gel manicure and regular pedicure by Maria. It was amazing! She took her time and care to make sure my nails were looking their best. I loved the scrub they used on your feet and legs. And as the other reviewers have said, the pedi chairs are so comfy! A beautiful salon with cozy decor, fun music, free rosé wine, a great selection of colors, and welcoming staff. Prices are a little higher than the average for the neighborhood but it is WORTH IT! $35 for mani pedi, $58 for gel mani and regular pedi. Highly recommend. This is my first ever yelp review, and I had to do it so people in the area know that this is the place to go for great nail service! I just stopped by this place yesterday, and I have to say, my nails have never looked better. Angelica did my powder manicure, and she is amazing! She took her time making sure they looked perfect and went extra lengths to add extensions to four of my nails, even though they were about to close. I will say that the salon is extremely small, which isn't a bad thing, you just need to call to make an appointment. It's decorated so cutely. If you want your nails done by women who care about your hands, feet, and comfort this is definitely the spot for you.I've had endless horrible experiences at nail salons so many I can't even count. From making my cuticles bleed, to not even touching my cuticles on my feet to just an overall horrible painting job. Then of course there's the experiences that I'm sure everyone has been through, where your nail specialist is speaking in a different language to another employee the entire time and pointing at your nails or toes and laughing....in other words UNCOMFORTABLE!This place is totally different, not only is the decor sweet and clean, but so are the women who work here. The store itself is rather small, and that has to be my only complaint about this spot. It's definitely not a place to come with a huge group of friends, however if it's just you and a bestie, that's totally fine. Otherwise come alone (which is never a problem, I love relaxing alone) there are 3 pedicure chairs, and they are fancy soft and fluffy turquoise like couch like chairs. They wash your feet in a gold old fashioned rustic looking bucket (so cool) and the have pillows that are cute AND comfy (win win guys!)My nail specialist was a woman named Maria, she did both my manicure and pedicure. Overall I believe I was in there for a little over an hour. Maria was friendly, gentle and precise. She took her time with my pedicure. She used two different creams and scrubs and cleaned, cut and shaped my nails and cuticles. My feet were pretty beat up coming into the salon, they were incredibly dry and my skin was peeling, after the pedicure and even today (a day later) my frets are like brand new, the peeling is gone and they are baby booty soft.As for my nails she cleaned up and shaped them beautifully and took her time making sure that the nail polish was on every part of my nail and cleaned up any excess that may have gotten on any other park of my fingers.  My nails have never looked so good in my life (this ain't even a joke y'all). I'm about to be 24, and I can honestly say that this is the best my nails have ever looked!The only recommendation I do have for this spot is a more upbeat and fun playlist. I normally never write reviews, but I made an appointment through Dry Loft's scheduling website, vagaro.com, for Thursday at 9am and received THREE (two texts, one email) confirmations for the appointment. Their website lists their hours as 9am-5 Sunday, 9am-7 M-W, and 9am-8pm Th-Sat. I walked all the way there after changing my work schedule for the appointment just to have someone (he said he was the husband of the person I was scheduled with) say they don't open until 10am. I came here with my 4-month-old baby and right when I was about to get my nails done, he started to get fussy:( But everyone here made sure we are both comfortable and even played with him while I got my dip gel manicure done! They have a nice variety of colors, and the decor inside of the store is very cute! Definitely the best nail salon on UWS. It's very clean, the prices are fair and everyone is so sweet and attentive! After watching the transformation process from the old "Magri's Market", I finally made an appointment to experience this new gem in my neighborhood. The friendly receptionist greeted me right away as I walked in, asking to take my coat and also offering a beverage. I consented to the former, joking to the latter, well yes, "If you are offering me a glass of wine". To which she replied, "I have red or white". It was then I noticed a menu behind her which does offer wine, Mt.... Joe coffee, Fort Hill Brewery beer (4 different brews) and tea/soda. I still declined as it wasn't in my plan to start @ 1:30 in the afternoon (even though it is Saturday & I have the day off of work/kids.) My stylist, Kayla, (hoping I'm spelling correctly) was running a few minutes behind but I was kind of glad for the extra time to focus my attention on the rest of the setting... beautiful décor, a plethora of comfortable seating, a great mix of music and ambient lighting. When Kayla was ready, she greeted me cheerily, had me follow her to her station where a cubby was available for my personal belongings. I then went over to the shampooing area which I could have stayed for an hour or more! What a luxurious service! It was by far the most comfortable salon sink I have ever extended my head into! Complete with a foot rest and the most amazingly relaxing shampoo/head massage I have received in a long time! I told her I might just start coming once a week just for that & at that point I didn't even care how she cut my hair! However, she followed through to the end with a fantastic cut & gorgeous blowout! I told her how my 9 yr old daughter would love to come here & just spend the day listening to the music , looking @ herself in the mirrors & watching all the fabulous makeovers!
