In the Lord's name I pray:I must start off by saying that convenience is not always the way to go, especially when it comes to hair....and I am very particular about mine....For the past four years, I have been sporting a mohawk, sides and back shaved by my husband, leaving a little more than a tuft of hair on top which I double process to WHITE!!I recently moved and noticed a "color bar" literally down the block!! I couldn't be more excited! Paul, the gentleman I spoke to on Thursday, couldn't be nicer, assuring me that I had found the perfect place...they are "specialists" since this is all they do...I went in for a consultation that same day and it did set off red flags to a degree....(which in hindsight, I should have heeded)....There was a strange feeling of adversity and almost tension when I explained what I wanted..that awkward silence at moments that I tried to fill which a quip of some sort....almost to the point of them telling me they were not truly capable to do it...but assured me they would get it to what I want...I left undecided inside as I did not feel at ease with their response yet gave it to God and returned the next morning to meet again with Rocky, the owner/colorist....who was going to do my hair...I explained it once again.. and tried my best to create a pleasant dialogue/relationship through conversation....which unfortunately did not go well...as he apparently carried over the annoyed demeanor from the day prior....he did let me know that he does not generally converse, and I was totally fine with that, but the underlying sense of tension and adversity was hard to ignore....Long story short....I was not happy with HIS final result, which was yellow as opposed to white...he refused to acknowledge that a toner was an ABSOLUTE necessity ....(as it is EVERY TIme I do this) ....and let me know that he doesn't understand how "women" always see yellow...He at first said, whatever you want, when I insisted that he please place a toner in to pull out the brassiness/yellow, and then quickly turned very abrasive and said, no, it's not what you want....sit down....After my insisting on a toner, he then proceeded to put a shampoo/conditioner toner in that he sells at his salon which in fact pulled some of the yellow/brassiness out, as I was trying to explain it needed.....(not as well as a formulated toner would have done, but he was by no means, in my eyes, trying to go the extra mile to make me happy......he then went on to tell me that I was not asking for the right color.....White is White,...white is in no way, shape or form yellow....and regardless of what HE felt, my telling him that I was not happy with the "color" should have prompted a kind, helpful, solution-finding remedy to make me, the "guest", happy......that was not the case by far......The total insult to injury was that after all was said and done, he charged me $170.........I told this to everyone who all shared the same reaction of being appalled, as was I...speechless inside....forget about my being a first-time customer, which usually comes with a gratuity so to speak for being a first-time customer, he did not so much as flinch to apologize for our experience or suggest taking monies off or anything of the like.....I do not like confrontation and so I expressed to him politely that I found him to be very mean toward me in his manner and tone and did not leave exuding contentment and happiness, which I firmly believe he did not care about.....I am sure many people will try out or still go to Fusion Color bar, as I pray they would and will....I do not hope for anything but the best for Rocky and his staff, especially the young, pleasant girl who he is taking under his wing in training.....hopefully she will learn the relationship aspect of a colorist and their "guest" elsewhere, maybe within herself.....to know that a dialogue and a friendly demeanor and helpful and pleasant nature will take her to heights unrestricted.....especially in this profession...client/artist relationship is PARAMOUNT...My relationship with my hair colorist is like that of my relationship with my doctor....a great one!!! I will stick with my original salon in Yonkers and have a new-found love and respect for her as she treats me with respect and cannot do enough to make sure I leave her salon with an ear-to-ear smile, content as can be with her masterpiece, as coloring and styling is an art...I thank Rocky for the opportunity to know that Fusion Color bar is not a good match for me, as the formula was not researched enough to hold.....I will continue to pray for him!!!
