Was initially excited about this salon but after 24 hrs my nails did not chip, but the polish completely peeled off (without picking at it) on one nail and partially on another. Not sure if it was applied too heavily or something else, but was forced to remove the rest after the first two peeled off. Sad! Read Less

I'm not from the area. I don't have a car, and I was limited in terms of my surrounding resources. I've heard nothing but amazing things about this place, so I stopped by one day looking to soak the rest of my gel polish off (it had been a rough week, and my manicure from a different salon had chipped, and I had started to pry away at my other fingers which had become an embarrassing appearance). I would have made an appointment had one been available that day, but I ended up dropping in anyway, hoping I could get some help. I was willing to pay whatever just to get the polish off, but the technician said she could not help me. I told her I understood that she had appointments for the day, but if it were possible to just sit to the side and soak, or put cotton on, I didn't require any other help beyond getting the polish off (meaning I didn't need them to be buffed), but was willing to pay for the entire service. Nope. No dice. It's a very small salon, and I understand that she was the only person there, but I didn't know it took a team of scientists to put some cotton on my nails for 10-15 minutes. Again, I'm not from the area, but I've never known a salon to turn down a sale. I really wanted to try the place having made an appointment to get a full-service, but now I'm just turned off. I had my wedding nails done at Nail Candy in July and I thought the service was fantastic!  I received so may compliments on my light pink with graduated gold glitter gel polish.  On top of that, my gel nails lasted for 3 weeks and the only reason I had to switch the polish was because of regrowth.  I had absolutely no chipping at the tops of the nails which is typical for me after 2 weeks with gel polish.  Best gel nail polish ever.  Thank you for helping make my wedding day extra special! I love Nail Candy! The salon is very clean and comfortable, and they offer a great selection of polish. The gel french is top notch, and I really appreciate the attentive and friendly staff. 15 minutes into our girls day mani/pedis, I looked at my best friend and asked if we could come back when I'm in town again in March.  We both had the Nail Candy pedicure with Gel polish manicure, and loved the experience.  Our nail techs were professional, attentive, and fun to chat with and we both left with a great set of nails on our fingers and toes.  There are tons of colors to choose from [and glitter, too!] and all the products they used on us were top notch.  A great place to come for some pampering; was honestly shocked to see so many negative reviews of this place on Yelp.  Ask for Heather and Nancy - they were phenomenal! I was the only customer there for most of my manicure, and the two women working just talked to each other and ignored me.  At the end, when my nails were drying, some regulars walked in and I was pretty much entirely forgotten.  I eventually got up and left, and no one even said bye.  My nails look nice, but it was an awkward place. The only reason to bother coming here is that they do gel polish changes for $20. Other than that, I cannot fathom a reason why someone would pay $22 for a mediocre manicure. You might as well do it yourself. Customer service is pretty terrible unless they know you really well, so unless you're willing to go there 5+ times to make sure they know you and give you the attention you deserve, I recommend going to Miracle Nails. Also, you can make an appointed a week in advance, but that won't stop them from making you wait 30 minutes. Read Less

Really great salon! From the moment I walked in it feels like you are not in Ithaca but in a big city. The service is great, the products are quality, and the decor is girly and makes the experience feel like an indulgence. I moved here from Los Angeles and this place has a really California vibe. Heather did a great job with my gels, and the owner Jennifer was friendly and professional. She sported an amazing emerald green gel polish that I recommend highly. Also there is a cute array of fun teas to have while you relax. By far the best option for nails in Ithaca (I tried a couple others before, and feel bad bashing, but they were either a. 5$ more expensive for gels and in a way less cute environment, or b. had very little color options for gels. I booked an appointment online, which is a pretty great service. The nail tech was careful around a sore spot on my nails. She did try to talk me into gels, but I didn't want them. A lot of regulars came in, and the staff was far more attentive to them. My tech was running behind and I had to have another tech apply top coat while I sat on a bench because the tech needed to start work on a regular customer. My nails look nice, but the experience wasn't worth $22. All in all, I would only recommend Nail Candy if you are a regular or can't find another clean salon in Collegetown. Read Less

The customer service here is AWFUL. I wanted to get french tips put on my nails and called up the salon to book an appointment. Was told very rudely that there was no available time for gel caps that day or the next. The woman didn't even recommend another time. I decided it wasn't worth it, PERIOD. This is very sad since it seems like there are no decent nail salons in Ithaca to get your nails done. This place was no exception. Read Less
