I have to start this off with disclaimer. I am not one to complain when someone is doing my nails, hair, or something of the sort. I usually just keep quiet. This is something out of the ordinary for me.When I had first come here, I was alarmed that they had no designs or anything for me to choose from other than a small book with maybe 5 picture at the most, all different versions of the French manicure. I continued to go because there was only one other nail salon I knew of nearby and I hadn't heard the best things about it. Once I got used to the fact they had no designs of their own, I just searched online for nail designs that were simple, and would show them the picture and color of what I wanted. Generally, they were able to follow through with this. The second to last time I went to the salon, the lady at the desk, who was also doing my nails, was apparently too busy to take my nail polish off and had me do it while I waited for her to be done with whatever it was that she had to do. I was confused, but eventually got over it, as she had done a good job with the design I had asked her to do.The most recent time I went, it was before Halloween and I was extremely excited to get something Halloween-themed as it is a great holiday. The lady (I think she was the same one who had helped me before), had told a friend and I there would be a ten minute wait (which was great cause I had work after that). We waited for nearly 45 minutes before she was able to help me and I went up, asking her for some purple Halloween nails with anything Halloween themed as a design. She began by taking a sponge and what I think is acrylic purple paint (not the color I had brought over to her), and sponging the paint on in a blotchy way so that there were bumps and bubbles everywhere. I figured she knew what she was doing and she would paint over it with the color I wanted. Incorrect. I had to ask her to use my color, and somehow this inconvenienced her. I then I had asked her for a bat or a spider on one of my nails. She drew two black lines that looked like a mustache and I had to ask her to take it off. She told me she didn't know how to do art and she wasn't good at designs. I was confused, as this was a nail salon and they had done my nails fairly well times before, but I just ignored my emotions and stayed "content" with the purple french manicure I had.Once I walked out, I began to realize my nails were different lengths, thicknesses, and some of them weren't even filed straight and were lopsided. I knew she had rushed a little more than I was used to but it hadn't been a big deal until I really took a look at my nails after. Having done my nails at many places on many occasions, I knew that all of this treatment I had received was not normal. These aren't HUGE deals, nothing I would report or be angry about, but I come from near New York City, where the people who do my nails know what they're doing, they don't just go and work at a nail salon without giving a damn about what the customer feels.
