I went to Von De Beauty to get my nails filled in. I have been getting my nails professionally done for over 20 years. Dena was my nail technician. She was very warm &n personable. She did a beautiful job in record time! The staff was also warm and friendly and the establishment was immaculate as well as beautiful. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone. This place is disgusting. I will never go back there. I had my eye lashes done by some crack head looking lady. While she was doing my eye lashes she was shaking so much that I thought she was going to poke my eye out. The bed where they have you laid down smells like putrid. I had to rush home to take a shower. All those women are so incompetent starting from the receptionist that doesn't even smile or gives a shit that you are sitting there for 45 minutes. You can get a better color service from a beauty school student on her first day with no experience then you can with Nicole . Seems if you read the rest of the reviews a lot of people were unsatisfied with Nicole's professionalism and attitude .Ps this was previously a highlight and lowlight that just asked for a shadow root ... Not jet black roots and bleached out ends with bleed spots and lines , completely destroyed the hair it's brittle and breaking off ! She refused to refund the money but offered to fix it ! Seriously would you want someone to touch your hair again after that? It's fried and totally damaged!! The right thing would've been a refund and to own her mistake . Instead she lied and promised money back and has been anything but honest , never returning the money ...It's sad that people like this exist and don't own it and do the right thing . Read Less

Unfortunately I cannot choose zero stars, which is what this place deserves.  I went here for a facial once when it first opened  and I left before the service was finished because of the excessive noise and because 3 separate times someone walked into the room. Fast forward to the present....I saw  a Groupon for a manicure/pedicure  and decided to give them another chance with a different service, especially since it is so close to my home. What a mistake! I have never before witnessed such unprofessionalism. I called to make the appointment and was given a time of 2:30.  I did ask if there were any earlier times and I was told no. The day of my appointment a message was left for me just before 11 asking if I could come in at 11 or 2. I felt encouraged that they were atttempting to accommodate me. Little did I know they were trying to fill in empty time. I did not hear the message until after 1 and called to ask if I should still come in early. I was placed on hold and then told that yes I should come at 2 instead of 2:30.  When I arrived for a 2 o'clock appointment, with my 12 year old daughter, I was asked to wait. By 2:15 I was getting very impatient  and asked when I would be seen. I was told that Nicole, my technician , was with a client. There was only one other customer in the place so I asked if the person doing her hair, who looked like she just started, was Nicole and I was told she was. So I inquired why I was told at about 1:15 to come  in at 2 if the person was clearly not ready for me. The response? " I was told to tell you to come in at 2."Clearly they were aware that I would lot be seen at 2. I was deciding if I would  stay or go, when a lovely young woman named Sarah offered to start removing my polish and file my nails. At 2:35, Nicole took over. From the beginning she was rude and nasty. When I asked why she had me come in at 2:00 since she clearly had another client, she responded in a very rude and obnoxious way that her client ran late. That's it. No "oh I'm so sorry you had to wait" - nothing. I was getting a very bad feeling. Then she does practically nothing to my nails except file them shorter than I specifically asked for and VERY crooked. She was not even paying attention. She did not put cream on my hands or offer any other treatment for this alleged spa manicure.  This was not a spa manicure in any sense of the phrase.  She did however find the time to ask me who does my hair and suggested that I switch to her for hair because as she told me "this is not my thing, hair is my thing."  If this is not her thing why on earth is she assigned to do a manicure and pedicure for me? It was very apparent that it is not her thing. She then applied polish to my nails very carelessly, getting polish on my skin in 3 places. When I asked her to clean the first spot, she challenged me "where? I don't see anything!" For the next spot she actually sighed loudly and dropped my hand. I was ready to get out of there by this time. It was 3:10, and after an hour and ten  minutes I had only managed to get a very bad basic non spa manicure while bearing treated more rudely than I have ever been treated before in any personal service transaction. I told her I did not care to have a pedicure and I was leaving. The manager saw me leaving and asked what happened. I told her I had been made to wait, treated rudely and received the worst manicure I ever had so I was not sticking around for the pedicure. I asked to speak to her but she said she could not talk to me because she was with a client.  I asked to speak to the owner but was told the owner could not be bothered because (and I am pretty sure this is what I was told, but maybe I'm mistaken) he is a welder who works in the city and is not available on Saturdays. What an answer!  As I was leaving, behind my back and out of my view, Nicole, in true character, stuck up her middle finger.  I did not see her but do you know who did see her do that? My 12 year old daughter, who told me as soon as we stepped outside. I went back inside and told the young woman at the desk what happened and told her I really needed to speak to the manager. She replied that the manager could not speak to me because she was busy with another client. I said she really should deal with this, but again I was turned away. So if you are the owner of this business, you should be aware of what goes on in your store when you are in the city. And if you are a potential client, stay away! The only part of this entire place that should be salvaged is Sarah, who is really a sweet, professional young woman who deserves to work in a much better place than this.I should also mention that my Groupon was redeemed before I ever set foot in the place. I am not discrediting people's individual negative experiences here, but after going for an appointment for the first time today, I am shocked to see so many negative reviews.  My experience was very good.  The salon was pleasantly decorated, and the only two people I saw there were Lindsey (who checked me in on time and did my blow out), and Megan (who washed my hair and gave me a lovely scalp massage).  There was no creepy guy, hostile owner, or incompetent employee that I saw.  Perhaps things have changed quite a bit since those experiences took place, and on that note I highly recommend giving this place a try.  I was there just for a blowout and deep conditioning treatment that I purchased on Groupon, and I received courteous, hospitable treatment despite having purchased the deal with a discount.  I also was very happy with my blowout, it came out just as good if not better than some of the best ones I have received at well-known salons.  Lindsey really listens and gets your desires correctly.  She suggested that I get a dusting as opposed to a haircut next time (because I don't want to lose the length and volume but I want to get rid of split ends) and for the first time in a long time I may actually allow a hairstylist near my hair with scissors.  I am happy I was not dissuaded by the many prior negative reviews. Called to inquire about a Groupon--was advised to come in and they would honor the Groupon price however, they did not have availability that day.  They advised of availability for the next day.  I left my phone number in case they had any same day cancellations and CLEARLY stated I'd call back later in the day if I was available to schedule a time for the next day.  I was given information on MULTIPLE available time slots for the next day, but never SCHEDULED any of them at that point.  NEXT DAY:  I get a phone call from the salon (called me private), and in a very abrasive tone, Dena shouts about me missing my 12:30 appointment.  She starts making false claims that I scheduled an appointment, AND confirmed it the evening before--though they could not determine who called me to confirm my non existing appointment. She says, "the receptionist called you last night and you said you would be here". Not only did I never schedule or confirm an appointment, I did not even have a call from the salon on the evening they claimed they called to confirm. Dena hung up the phone on me. Called back and spoke with a manager who apologized, but rushed me off the phone as well.  The absolute most bizarre communication I have EVER had with a business.  After seeing the rest of the yelp reviews, I understand.  STAY FAR AWAY! I purchased a groupon for a keratin treatment, and I wish I had read the reviews! They charged me extra because my hair was long (it wasn't that long, it was just past my shoulders at the time). The girl that did my hair criticized my cut, my color and anything else she could think of. I have always gotten compliments on my hair, and her attitude was such a turnoff. I tried to give this place half of a star but couldn't.  The owner is the absolute worst!  One of the employees failed to show up for her shift, and on my ONLY day off, I had to wait over 30 minutes until I asked the stuck up horrendous owner what was going on and she proceeded to yell at me that she is so pissed that he employee did not show up.  I told her that this was my only day off of work and that I had things I needed to accomplish and that maybe it would be better if I came back later when they could actually help me.  She barked at the front desk girl to proceed with rescheduling.  I come back in and had asked for an ombre and I hate to rant on, but she overcharged me and told me it was my fault that her credit card machine was not working and that I would have to find an ATM by looking on the internet.  Then the machine worked.  This was several months ago and I don't want to write a whole novel however, this is BY FAR THE WORST salon and the worst owner / management that I have ever met in my life.  Like other yelpers have said, the owner is so beyond stuck up that for that alone, I will never return.  They are entirely unaccommodating and there is absolutely ZERO customer service or care from this place.  I don't know how they are still in business.  There is probably a reason that the owners previous salon closed. If you have already read all of the Yelp reviews on Salon Von de Beauty Bar, then you already have been warned to stay away, by multiple people. But if you, like me, think "Oh, it can't be THAT bad, I'm going to give it a try, surely I will have better luck than everyone else", then all I can say is good luck, but I hope you will decide not to self-sabatoge. I read the reviews and figured that since most people were complaining about the way they did nails there, and I was wanting a balayage, then I would be OK, especially since there was one reviewer who went to Lindsey for a balayage and was pleased with the results.Well I called to make the appointment and mentioned that I had a Groupon. The person on the phone encouraged me not to use the Groupon, and they said that they would honor the Groupon price (they quoted a price higher than what the Groupon was for), and I told them I preferred to use Groupon because I had credits with Groupon and they said not everyone accepts the Groupon there, and I was like look, should I make this appointment or not, will you accept the Groupon or not? and they said to come to my appointment they would accept the Groupon. I was already prepared to deal with something like that since I had read the reviews and was aware of how Anti-Groupon they are. (Sidenote: If they hate Groupon so much because it cuts into their profits, then they should just stop accepting Groupon. But then their new client base would plummet because of the loss of advertising Groupon provides)Anyway, I made my appointment for Friday night, the night before I left for my cruise vacation. I get to my 6:00 appointment and they had me wait about 20 minutes. Lindsey appeared and sat me down and I showed her some pictures I liked that I had found when I google imaged balayage. She told me that my hair is too short for a balayage and that I should try to get my money back from Groupon. I respectfully told her that I disagreed and that I did not want to leave until I had my hair done because I was going on vacation the next morning and I needed my hair done. Yeah, I don't have hair down to my ass, but if you google image balayage on short hair, you can see that it is quite possible, as the definition is just hand painted highlights. But she refused!! She absolutely would not do a balayage on my hair, and I my new Yelp profile picture shows how long my hair is now, which I know qualifies for this treatment. I even bargained with her and said she could use the groupon to just to a base color and a few highlights but she would not touch my hair, and she said like ten times that I should just try to get my money back from Groupon. So I left, at like 6:30 and I was driving up and down Jericho turnpike praying for any salon to be open late on a Friday night to do my hair so I did not have to go away with my hair looking stale. I went into Cactus, Bocu, Barbara Ross Salon, Cutting Edge.....I would have paid anything to anyone who would have done my hair on such short notice on a Friday night. They all seemed apologetic to not be able to take me in, but I finally ended up at the Lemon Tree in Dix Hills believe it or not, and Molly took me in and did base color and a few face framing highlights and ended up staying 15 minutes late to accommodate me and she was really nice and I was so pleased with the results and thankful to have gotten my hair taken care of. It was a close call though, thanks to those idiots at Salon Von de Beauty Bar, and if you don't want undue stress in your life, do not go to this piece of s**t he**hole!!!!! Read Less

So... I did not read the reviews here before purchasing the Groupon for mani/pedi but I saw the photos of the salon, I'm new to the neighborhood and I figured I'd try it out. I agree w the other reviewers, I wish I could give it a zero. The owners are very, VERY stuck up and both of them have an air about them that they are better than other people. I don't respond well to that and that being my first and initial impression, I should have known it would only get worse. I made my appointment for 4 pm and arrived on time. Unfortunately for me, a friend of the owner arrived just as I did. Presumably she does this often and I got bumped from my appointment w Dena and I was introduced to a young girl who informed me that she would be doing my mani/pedi. Can you imagine as an owner bumping a potentially new client from your appointment list because your friend came in? Bad business, home girl! I cannot go into all of the details besides saying that it was by far the worst mani/pedi I have EVER gotten. My 5 year old nieces could have done it better. More paint on my skin than the nails on my fingers and my toes. The entire time I was waiting for a cameraman to jump out and tell me how it was all a joke and I was being filmed for a prankster show. I tried to make eye contact w the girl behind the front desk or Dena herself to let them know I was having an awful experience to no avail.As I was drying my skin, I mean-nails, the front desk girl came over and asked me how everything was. I told her I was disgusted and have never received such terrible service in my life. She offered a free mani for me to come back again. That was nearly 2 months ago and I will not be returning. This salon is totally different from what they portray on their website. When viewing the website, it looks like you are going to be at an upscale, modern salon with amazing services. I actually fell in love with their concept on the website.When you arrive ... you think you came to the wrong place. It's average for decor, etc. By no means is there a big nail bar or color bar as pictured on the website. I purchased a groupon and ignored the reviews that were on yelp (WHICH I NEVER DO) because the website looked so great and the email I received from the owner regarding my questions was friendly and helpful. I received a call 5 minutes before my appointment (I was driving into the parking lot when they called) to see if they could change my appointment to 30 min or an hour later. I explained to them that I was already in the parking lot and drove 40 minutes to get here because I live far away. They said ok ... come in then. That just translated into - you are going to have to wait over a 1/2 hour in our waiting area. When waiting and looking around ... I probably just should have left. The place looked dirty and there was a weird vibe in there. Nothing upbeat, no offers of a drink while waiting, etc. When they finally draped me and sat me at the stool facing the wall where all the color was (not a comfy color bar) ... I started looking at the brands of color products they had available. Before coming (in email) I was told that they use Aveda and Goldwell color products. I didn't see any of those there. When the colorist / stylist came to talk to me about what I wanted, I showed her a picture and she said that what I wanted didn't look natural and she thought we should just do a heavy highlight instead. She assured me that would cover my roots and get me as blonde as I wanted. I was skeptical but trusted her expertise. She started mixing a weird powder from a gigantic tub of product (purple and white branding ... not sure what name brand) and the powder was spilling over the side of the mixing container and it got me nervous. Since I already paid for this groupon for hair color - I figured I'd stay and if it came out horrible I could pay some big money to get it fixed. She gave me a full highlight and sent me to process. BTW - the whole time I was getting highlights, I had my nails soaking in acetone for my shellac manicure that was to follow. I was so uncomfortable. Sitting there, balancing a tray with a dish full of acetone on my lap. I never had to soak in acetone for a Shellac manicure before. When my highlights were done, I sat down for my manicure while the color processed. She couldn't get the polish off of my nails. She argued with me that I did not have a Shellac manicure because if I did, the polish would have just peeled off. I told her I have been going to the same nail technician for over a year and assured her it was Shellac polish. She scraped and scraped to get the polish off. There were no offerings of nail designs or unique polish techniques as mentioned on the website. I just received a generic shellac manicure by a grumpy technician (I presume she was the owner) and she complained about customers that wrote bad reviews about her on yelp. So unprofessional!! My hair cut was just so so and my highlights came out as expected ... bright highlights with dark roots. :( The stylist kept apologizing and saying ... I don't understand?? I put so many highlights in ... I really thought this was going to get you lighter. They charged me extra for my amount of hair on top of my group on and I ran the heck out of there.I would NEVER recommend this place to a friend or an enemy for that matter! I'm not sure how this place is surviving with the poor customer service and sub standard quality of services they offer. Stay far far away. Private message me if you have any other questions. Ugh.  Never again.  I had a mani-pedi Groupon which had expired (HATE when that happens) but the Groupon rules is they need to honor the amount you paid and you just pay the rest. So that's cool - no lost $ at least, but it did mean I paid full price for a snarky nail technician (and I use that term very loosely) who I believe was the owner.  She clipped both big toe nails on either side, guaranteeing ingrown toenails on both feet.  EVERYONE knows you clip toenails straight across to avoid this.  Well everyone but this woman apparently.  I wore flip flops in and kept them on for HOURS after I got home.  The minute I put on socks, they were ruined.  How does that even happen?  The manicure was nothing special either and she seemed to actually enjoy digging into my nail bed and cuticles with a metal push-back tool.  It was like I was the first manicure she'd done.  She had an attitude throughout.  I tried making conversation and was met with one word answers and a snide look.  I inquired about their haircut prices and when I asked if that was for both long and short hair (mine is short) she cut me off saying "ALL hair - $50!"  They try to be upscale, and their website says they're bringing SOHO to Long Island.  Well, if that's how customers are treated in SOHO, it's NOT a good model to replicate. I bought a Groupon for the keratin blow out.  After I was in the chair with a head full of shampoo I was told "You may need an extra oz of keratin and that's $45."  Groupon say's there may be an extra charge for long or thick hair.  MY HAIR IS ABOVE MY SHOULDERS AND VERY FINE-NO WHERE NEAR THICK!.  The girl who did my hair was a doll and I loved her!  She offered to trim my dead ends for me which I allowed but never thought it would be an additional $50! I feel like was ripped off and that's a pretty horrible feeling.  I won't be returning!also.. I stopped in the following day to return the over priced shampoo and conditioner that was purchased and never used.. I spoke with the most rude and unprofessional person ever who made it a point to tell me she' the owner as if I care.  She belittled me and spoke in the most condescending way possible.  She's lucky I'm a lady and kept my mouth shut but I can easily see someone giving her a swift kick to the face in the near future.  Dena,Learn how to speak to people.  You're a pig! I'm so torn leaving this review. Because of the wonderful hair stylist, I want to give it a 5. But the owners made me leave really upset. I called on Tuesday to make an appointment. I bought a voucher on Groupon and was excited to try it out. The male owner took my appointment time for today at 415. When I showed up at 410, my appointment wasn't in the system. The staff apologized for the neglect and the stylist did double heads just to get me in. I was so appreciative. I don't think many customers would have been happy but I understood, mistakes happen. After the appointment with the wonderful Jeanine, I approached the front desk to leave a tip on my card. Well, the female owner (the two owners are dating) immediately verbally attacked me when she noticed I had a Groupon. "you bought a groupon? Why would you do that? We would have honored it without you buying it! Groupon only gives us 12.50 for this  service! They do nothing for us! I can't believe you wouldn't call first!" Her tone was so snarky. I stepped back. I have NEVER been spoken to like that in my life. I responded with "I'm sorry, I didn't know..." it only got worse when she was informed that I wanted to tip on my credit card. As I opened my wallet, she adjusted her weight onto one hip, cocked  her head to the side and said "uh we don't take discover...or American express for that matter and if you tip with a visa, we're charging you an extra two dollars." At this point, I'm wondering how this woman managed to keep the salon afloat for  two years with her horrible manners. I began to give her my visa and she swiped it out of my hand before I could. Then, the poor woman on the couch behind me asked if she could turn the music down because she had a severe headache. The owner responded with an "excuse me?" that was dripping with attitude. The other customer quickly sat back and gave a shy laugh. After the owner was fidgeting with my credit card for a few minutes, she gave it to another worker because she "couldn't figure it out." The worker (who was amazing, by the way) mouthed "I'm sorry" and quickly tried to make it better. While that was being done, the two owners were standing off to the side making fun of a prior customer who did not speak fluent English. I was fuming. I quickly tipped my stylist (who again, was fantastic) and walked out. If these workers were in any other salon, I would go back in a heartbeat. But I cringe at the thought of giving those owners, especially the girlfriend, one more cent of my hard earned money (no worries, she took the time to point out that I could never use a groupon there again anyway. I had called the salon to schedule an appointment for my hair and mentioned Groupon and the special the salon was offering for $65.00.  The owner, Deana stated " you do not have to pay through Groupon, we will honor the same offer at the time of the appointment.  I also mentioned that Groupon is giving me $10.00 credit toward my purchase and she stated " NO PROBLEM"  It will cost you $55.00.  I was skeptical and Deana said I am the owner and you will be fine, absolutely no problem when you come in!  Well, talk about your gut feeling, I went in for my appointment with my proof of the offer, conversation documented, everything that I needed just in case.  The hairdresser stated "this is the $65.00 special?"  we cannot offer the extra $10.00 credit because you have thick hair and your hair is long. (my hair was up to my shoulders and my hair is wavy). I purchased a groupon BEFORE searching reviews, which is not like me.  When I read all the terrible things I was so afraid! But I spent $85 for a Balayage process and there was no turning back. I called and got an appointment with Lindsey 3 days later for a saturday. the salon is very modern, super clean and everyone I encountered was extremely nice. Lindsey took me exactly on time, looked over my hair, discussed the process and we even googled images so she was sure to see exactly what I was expecting (at her recommendation). She was so quick, and honestly, probably did the best job I've ever had done on my hair right down to the haircut. I will 100% be going back. I can say while I was there I did see 2 other customers who were upset over the groupon deal. one was not justified because they canceled their appointment without the 24 hours notice as stated right on the groupon the other was what i believe an honest mistake with a keratin treatment by the stylist, but I won't post more about that because I didn't hear the whole conversation or know the facts. I would recommend this salon and if you buy the groupon, make sure to ask that it covers your services before the stylist starts your service. Read Less

This was my first time using this salon and first time getting a Brazilian blow out treatment at a non Japanese salon. I normally get Japanese and Brazilian. I was nervous to try this salon but wow I am amazed!!! My hair came out so perfect and silky! I think it came out better than when I even get the Japanese. The time the girl who I got (Melissa) took to make sure every piece was gone over and that I was comfortable and happy during the process was beyond my expectations. And I have high ones!!! I am so happy with my results and will not only be returning again in 5-6 months for another Brazilian but to go here on a regular for hair cuts and blow outs!!! She actually gave me the impression that I was bothering her while being there. She put her pointer finger up at me (like saying "one minute") and made me stand there while she finished what she was doing. Rude right from the start - horrible first impression of the salon. The woman who did my eyelashes (which was the owner) had an attitude the whole time. It took her 45 minutes to do a full set. Normal places take 2 hours. You could tell it only took 45 minutes too. I was not happy with them at all. By the second day they were all twisted and misshaped. I decided to go back for a fill-in only for the reason to give her a second chance and maybe it was just a bad first impression that I had. What a mistake that was. There was so much glue on my lashes. They were all clumped together and looked horrible. When I told her I was unhappy with the first application she was so nasty and defensive. I went to another lash place and they removed the lashes from Salon Von De for me. When they removed them I almost cried. My lashes were SO short and almost all gone. The new place I go is the cutest salon. The woman is an absolute doll and the lashes are gorgeous. They look amazing and I get so many compliments on them. I would never return here. Ever. Read Less

Requested someone up to par with "girl gone". OMG they gave me Damien the creepy guy spoke of on yelp. ODD. My cut and touchup took 3 hours! Not a word out of him except initial mumbled consult. Cut, color was good. But creepy smile through out, and not one word spoken. VERY uncomfortable.I really wanted to give this place a shot. BC I liked their products, and salon looked like an on trend salon--looks can be deceiving .Third appointment. 6 weeks later. Just a touch up. Nicole was my stylist. They called me 4 times with no messages. (I was out for the day at a place with no service) Showed up 10 min early and got attitude from lil' girl at front desk that "she tried like calling you like 7 times" umm it was 4 and no message. Plus, I do have a life outside of my hair appointments.Nicole still took me though, and was nice. Except, she didn't ask me one thing about my color. (my hair is dark brown) Well assuming she thought my hair color was straight forward or went off my last visit color-- now my roots are BLACK. When she came back from her smoke break, after my hair was washed. She noticed the "resistant color" ask if i had this issue before (No, and I also to myslef that the process time felt very fast). She then touched up a little spot on top of my head. Get home, ask a friend to look at the color all around. Not only was the color black, but also patchy half-processed color all over.  Now my roots are mainly black and the rest is brown. Zero personality for a business that specializes in giving customers a reason to return. Too bad for me I bought more than one under a different promotion. They used to be called "Polished Ultra nail& Salon"  which had terrible reviews on Yelp as well, and opened up in a new location called 'salon von de. You can get a better color service from a beauty school student on her first day with no experience then you can with Nicole . Seems if you read the rest of the reviews a lot of people were unsatisfied with Nicole's professionalism and attitude .Ps this was previously a highlight and lowlight that just asked for a shadow root ... Not jet black roots and bleached out ends with bleed spots and lines , completely destroyed the hair it's brittle and breaking off ! She refused to refund the money but offered to fix it ! Seriously would you want someone to touch your hair again after that? It's fried and totally damaged!! The right thing would've been a refund and to own her mistake . Unfortunately I cannot choose zero stars, which is what this place deserves.  I went here for a facial once when it first opened  and I left before the service was finished because of the excessive noise and because 3 separate times someone walked into the room. Fast forward to the present....I saw  a Groupon for a manicure/pedicure  and decided to give them another chance with a different service, especially since it is so close to my home. What a mistake! I have never before witnessed such unprofessionalism. I called to make the appointment and was given a time of 2:30.  I did ask if there were any earlier times and I was told no. The day of my appointment a message was left for me just before 11 asking if I could come in at 11 or 2. I felt encouraged that they were atttempting to accommodate me. Little did I know they were trying to fill in empty time. I did not hear the message until after 1 and called to ask if I should still come in early. I was placed on hold and then told that yes I should come at 2 instead of 2:30.  When I arrived for a 2 o'clock appointment, with my 12 year old daughter, I was asked to wait. By 2:15 I was getting very impatient  and asked when I would be seen. I was told that Nicole, my technician , was with a client. There was only one other customer in the place so I asked if the person doing her hair, who looked like she just started, was Nicole and I was told she was. So I inquired why I was told at about 1:15 to come  in at 2 if the person was clearly not ready for me. The response? " I was told to tell you to come in at 2."Clearly they were aware that I would lot be seen at 2. I was deciding if I would  stay or go, when a lovely young woman named Sarah offered to start removing my polish and file my nails. At 2:35, Nicole took over. From the beginning she was rude and nasty. When I asked why she had me come in at 2:00 since she clearly had another client, she responded in a very rude and obnoxious way that her client ran late. That's it. No "oh I'm so sorry you had to wait" - nothing. I was getting a very bad feeling. Then she does practically nothing to my nails except file them shorter than I specifically asked for and VERY crooked. She was not even paying attention. She did not put cream on my hands or offer any other treatment for this alleged spa manicure.  This was not a spa manicure in any sense of the phrase.  She did however find the time to ask me who does my hair and suggested that I switch to her for hair because as she told me "this is not my thing, hair is my thing."  If this is not her thing why on earth is she assigned to do a manicure and pedicure for me? It was very apparent that it is not her thing. She then applied polish to my nails very carelessly, getting polish on my skin in 3 places. When I asked her to clean the first spot, she challenged me "where? I don't see anything!" For the next spot she actually sighed loudly and dropped my hand. I was ready to get out of there by this time. It was 3:10, and after an hour and ten  minutes I had only managed to get a very bad basic non spa manicure while bearing treated more rudely than I have ever been treated before in any personal service transaction. I told her I did not care to have a pedicure and I was leaving. The manager saw me leaving and asked what happened. I told her I had been made to wait, treated rudely and received the worst manicure I ever had so I was not sticking around for the pedicure. I asked to speak to her but she said she could not talk to me because she was with a client.  I asked to speak to the owner but was told the owner could not be bothered because (and I am pretty sure this is what I was told, but maybe I'm mistaken) he is a welder who works in the city and is not available on Saturdays. What an answer!  As I was leaving, behind my back and out of my view, Nicole, in true character, stuck up her middle finger.  I did not see her but do you know who did see her do that? My 12 year old daughter, who told me as soon as we stepped outside. I went back inside and told the young woman at the desk what happened and told her I really needed to speak to the manager. She replied that the manager could not speak to me because she was busy with another client. I said she really should deal with this, but again I was turned away. So if you are the owner of this business, you should be aware of what goes on in your store when you are in the city. And if you are a potential client, stay away! The only part of this entire place that should be salvaged is Sarah, who is really a sweet, professional young woman who deserves to work in a much better place than this.I should also mention that my Groupon was redeemed before I ever set foot in the place. I am not discrediting people's individual negative experiences here, but after going for an appointment for the first time today, I am shocked to see so many negative reviews.  My experience was very good.  The salon was pleasantly decorated, and the only two people I saw there were Lindsey (who checked me in on time and did my blow out), and Megan (who washed my hair and gave me a lovely scalp massage).  There was no creepy guy, hostile owner, or incompetent employee that I saw.  Perhaps things have changed quite a bit since those experiences took place, and on that note I highly recommend giving this place a try.  I was there just for a blowout and deep conditioning treatment that I purchased on Groupon, and I received courteous, hospitable treatment despite having purchased the deal with a discount.  I also was very happy with my blowout, it came out just as good if not better than some of the best ones I have received at well-known salons.  Lindsey really listens and gets your desires correctly.  She suggested that I get a dusting as opposed to a haircut next time (because I don't want to lose the length and volume but I want to get rid of split ends) and for the first time in a long time I may actually allow a hairstylist near my hair with scissors.  I am happy I was not dissuaded by the many prior negative reviews. Called to inquire about a Groupon--was advised to come in and they would honor the Groupon price however, they did not have availability that day.  They advised of availability for the next day.  I left my phone number in case they had any same day cancellations and CLEARLY stated I'd call back later in the day if I was available to schedule a time for the next day.  I was given information on MULTIPLE available time slots for the next day, but never SCHEDULED any of them at that point.  NEXT DAY:  I get a phone call from the salon (called me private), and in a very abrasive tone, Dena shouts about me missing my 12:30 appointment.  She starts making false claims that I scheduled an appointment, AND confirmed it the evening before--though they could not determine who called me to confirm my non existing appointment. She says, "the receptionist called you last night and you said you would be here". Not only did I never schedule or confirm an appointment, I did not even have a call from the salon on the evening they claimed they called to confirm. Dena hung up the phone on me. Called back and spoke with a manager who apologized, but rushed me off the phone as well.  The absolute most bizarre communication I have EVER had with a business.  After seeing the rest of the yelp reviews, I understand.  STAY FAR AWAY! I tried to give this place half of a star but couldn't.  The owner is the absolute worst!  One of the employees failed to show up for her shift, and on my ONLY day off, I had to wait over 30 minutes until I asked the stuck up horrendous owner what was going on and she proceeded to yell at me that she is so pissed that he employee did not show up.  I told her that this was my only day off of work and that I had things I needed to accomplish and that maybe it would be better if I came back later when they could actually help me.  She barked at the front desk girl to proceed with rescheduling.  I come back in and had asked for an ombre and I hate to rant on, but she overcharged me and told me it was my fault that her credit card machine was not working and that I would have to find an ATM by looking on the internet.  Then the machine worked.  This was several months ago and I don't want to write a whole novel however, this is BY FAR THE WORST salon and the worst owner / management that I have ever met in my life.  Like other yelpers have said, the owner is so beyond stuck up that for that alone, I will never return.  They are entirely unaccommodating and there is absolutely ZERO customer service or care from this place.  I don't know how they are still in business.  There is probably a reason that the owners previous salon closed. I read the reviews and figured that since most people were complaining about the way they did nails there, and I was wanting a balayage, then I would be OK, especially since there was one reviewer who went to Lindsey for a balayage and was pleased with the results.Well I called to make the appointment and mentioned that I had a Groupon. The person on the phone encouraged me not to use the Groupon, and they said that they would honor the Groupon price (they quoted a price higher than what the Groupon was for), and I told them I preferred to use Groupon because I had credits with Groupon and they said not everyone accepts the Groupon there, and I was like look, should I make this appointment or not, will you accept the Groupon or not? and they said to come to my appointment they would accept the Groupon. I was already prepared to deal with something like that since I had read the reviews and was aware of how Anti-Groupon they are. (Sidenote: If they hate Groupon so much because it cuts into their profits, then they should just stop accepting Groupon. But then their new client base would plummet because of the loss of advertising Groupon provides)Anyway, I made my appointment for Friday night, the night before I left for my cruise vacation. I get to my 6:00 appointment and they had me wait about 20 minutes. Lindsey appeared and sat me down and I showed her some pictures I liked that I had found when I google imaged balayage. She told me that my hair is too short for a balayage and that I should try to get my money back from Groupon. I respectfully told her that I disagreed and that I did not want to leave until I had my hair done because I was going on vacation the next morning and I needed my hair done. Yeah, I don't have hair down to my ass, but if you google image balayage on short hair, you can see that it is quite possible, as the definition is just hand painted highlights. But she refused!! She absolutely would not do a balayage on my hair, and I my new Yelp profile picture shows how long my hair is now, which I know qualifies for this treatment. I even bargained with her and said she could use the groupon to just to a base color and a few highlights but she would not touch my hair, and she said like ten times that I should just try to get my money back from Groupon. So I left, at like 6:30 and I was driving up and down Jericho turnpike praying for any salon to be open late on a Friday night to do my hair so I did not have to go away with my hair looking stale. I went into Cactus, Bocu, Barbara Ross Salon, Cutting Edge.....I would have paid anything to anyone who would have done my hair on such short notice on a Friday night. They all seemed apologetic to not be able to take me in, but I finally ended up at the Lemon Tree in Dix Hills believe it or not, and Molly took me in and did base color and a few face framing highlights and ended up staying 15 minutes late to accommodate me and she was really nice and I was so pleased with the results and thankful to have gotten my hair taken care of. It was a close call though, thanks to those idiots at Salon Von de Beauty Bar, and if you don't want undue stress in your life, do not go to this piece of s**t he**hole!!!!! Read Less

So... I did not read the reviews here before purchasing the Groupon for mani/pedi but I saw the photos of the salon, I'm new to the neighborhood and I figured I'd try it out. I agree w the other reviewers, I wish I could give it a zero. The owners are very, VERY stuck up and both of them have an air about them that they are better than other people. I don't respond well to that and that being my first and initial impression, I should have known it would only get worse. I made my appointment for 4 pm and arrived on time. Unfortunately for me, a friend of the owner arrived just as I did. Presumably she does this often and I got bumped from my appointment w Dena and I was introduced to a young girl who informed me that she would be doing my mani/pedi. Can you imagine as an owner bumping a potentially new client from your appointment list because your friend came in? Bad business, home girl! I cannot go into all of the details besides saying that it was by far the worst mani/pedi I have EVER gotten. My 5 year old nieces could have done it better. More paint on my skin than the nails on my fingers and my toes. The entire time I was waiting for a cameraman to jump out and tell me how it was all a joke and I was being filmed for a prankster show. I tried to make eye contact w the girl behind the front desk or Dena herself to let them know I was having an awful experience to no avail.As I was drying my skin, I mean-nails, the front desk girl came over and asked me how everything was. I told her I was disgusted and have never received such terrible service in my life. She offered a free mani for me to come back again. That was nearly 2 months ago and I will not be returning. This salon is totally different from what they portray on their website. When viewing the website, it looks like you are going to be at an upscale, modern salon with amazing services. I actually fell in love with their concept on the website.When you arrive ... you think you came to the wrong place. It's average for decor, etc. By no means is there a big nail bar or color bar as pictured on the website. I purchased a groupon and ignored the reviews that were on yelp (WHICH I NEVER DO) because the website looked so great and the email I received from the owner regarding my questions was friendly and helpful. I received a call 5 minutes before my appointment (I was driving into the parking lot when they called) to see if they could change my appointment to 30 min or an hour later. I explained to them that I was already in the parking lot and drove 40 minutes to get here because I live far away. They said ok ... come in then. That just translated into - you are going to have to wait over a 1/2 hour in our waiting area. When waiting and looking around ... I probably just should have left. The place looked dirty and there was a weird vibe in there. Nothing upbeat, no offers of a drink while waiting, etc. When they finally draped me and sat me at the stool facing the wall where all the color was (not a comfy color bar) ... I started looking at the brands of color products they had available. Before coming (in email) I was told that they use Aveda and Goldwell color products. I didn't see any of those there. When the colorist / stylist came to talk to me about what I wanted, I showed her a picture and she said that what I wanted didn't look natural and she thought we should just do a heavy highlight instead. She assured me that would cover my roots and get me as blonde as I wanted. I was skeptical but trusted her expertise. She started mixing a weird powder from a gigantic tub of product (purple and white branding ... not sure what name brand) and the powder was spilling over the side of the mixing container and it got me nervous. Since I already paid for this groupon for hair color - I figured I'd stay and if it came out horrible I could pay some big money to get it fixed. She gave me a full highlight and sent me to process. BTW - the whole time I was getting highlights, I had my nails soaking in acetone for my shellac manicure that was to follow. I was so uncomfortable. Sitting there, balancing a tray with a dish full of acetone on my lap. I never had to soak in acetone for a Shellac manicure before. When my highlights were done, I sat down for my manicure while the color processed. She couldn't get the polish off of my nails. She argued with me that I did not have a Shellac manicure because if I did, the polish would have just peeled off. I told her I have been going to the same nail technician for over a year and assured her it was Shellac polish. She scraped and scraped to get the polish off. There were no offerings of nail designs or unique polish techniques as mentioned on the website. I just received a generic shellac manicure by a grumpy technician (I presume she was the owner) and she complained about customers that wrote bad reviews about her on yelp. So unprofessional!! My hair cut was just so so and my highlights came out as expected ... bright highlights with dark roots. :( The stylist kept apologizing and saying ... I don't understand?? I put so many highlights in ... I really thought this was going to get you lighter. They charged me extra for my amount of hair on top of my group on and I ran the heck out of there.I would NEVER recommend this place to a friend or an enemy for that matter! I'm not sure how this place is surviving with the poor customer service and sub standard quality of services they offer. Stay far far away. Private message me if you have any other questions. Ugh.  Never again.  I had a mani-pedi Groupon which had expired (HATE when that happens) but the Groupon rules is they need to honor the amount you paid and you just pay the rest. So that's cool - no lost $ at least, but it did mean I paid full price for a snarky nail technician (and I use that term very loosely) who I believe was the owner.  She clipped both big toe nails on either side, guaranteeing ingrown toenails on both feet.  EVERYONE knows you clip toenails straight across to avoid this.  Well everyone but this woman apparently.  I wore flip flops in and kept them on for HOURS after I got home.  The minute I put on socks, they were ruined.  How does that even happen?  The manicure was nothing special either and she seemed to actually enjoy digging into my nail bed and cuticles with a metal push-back tool.  It was like I was the first manicure she'd done.  She had an attitude throughout.  I tried making conversation and was met with one word answers and a snide look.  I inquired about their haircut prices and when I asked if that was for both long and short hair (mine is short) she cut me off saying "ALL hair - $50!"  They try to be upscale, and their website says they're bringing SOHO to Long Island.  Well, if that's how customers are treated in SOHO, it's NOT a good model to replicate. I bought a Groupon for the keratin blow out.  After I was in the chair with a head full of shampoo I was told "You may need an extra oz of keratin and that's $45."  Groupon say's there may be an extra charge for long or thick hair.  MY HAIR IS ABOVE MY SHOULDERS AND VERY FINE-NO WHERE NEAR THICK!.  The girl who did my hair was a doll and I loved her!  She offered to trim my dead ends for me which I allowed but never thought it would be an additional $50! I feel like was ripped off and that's a pretty horrible feeling.  I won't be returning!also.. I stopped in the following day to return the over priced shampoo and conditioner that was purchased and never used.. I spoke with the most rude and unprofessional person ever who made it a point to tell me she' the owner as if I care.  She belittled me and spoke in the most condescending way possible.  She's lucky I'm a lady and kept my mouth shut but I can easily see someone giving her a swift kick to the face in the near future.  Dena,Learn how to speak to people.  You're a pig! I'm so torn leaving this review. Because of the wonderful hair stylist, I want to give it a 5. But the owners made me leave really upset. I called on Tuesday to make an appointment. I bought a voucher on Groupon and was excited to try it out. The male owner took my appointment time for today at 415. When I showed up at 410, my appointment wasn't in the system. The staff apologized for the neglect and the stylist did double heads just to get me in. I was so appreciative. I don't think many customers would have been happy but I understood, mistakes happen. After the appointment with the wonderful Jeanine, I approached the front desk to leave a tip on my card. Well, the female owner (the two owners are dating) immediately verbally attacked me when she noticed I had a Groupon. "you bought a groupon? Why would you do that? We would have honored it without you buying it! Groupon only gives us 12.50 for this  service! They do nothing for us! I can't believe you wouldn't call first!" Her tone was so snarky. I stepped back. I have NEVER been spoken to like that in my life. I responded with "I'm sorry, I didn't know..." it only got worse when she was informed that I wanted to tip on my credit card. As I opened my wallet, she adjusted her weight onto one hip, cocked  her head to the side and said "uh we don't take discover...or American express for that matter and if you tip with a visa, we're charging you an extra two dollars." At this point, I'm wondering how this woman managed to keep the salon afloat for  two years with her horrible manners. I began to give her my visa and she swiped it out of my hand before I could. Then, the poor woman on the couch behind me asked if she could turn the music down because she had a severe headache. The owner responded with an "excuse me?" that was dripping with attitude. The other customer quickly sat back and gave a shy laugh. After the owner was fidgeting with my credit card for a few minutes, she gave it to another worker because she "couldn't figure it out." The worker (who was amazing, by the way) mouthed "I'm sorry" and quickly tried to make it better. While that was being done, the two owners were standing off to the side making fun of a prior customer who did not speak fluent English. I was fuming. I quickly tipped my stylist (who again, was fantastic) and walked out. If these workers were in any other salon, I would go back in a heartbeat. But I cringe at the thought of giving those owners, especially the girlfriend, one more cent of my hard earned money (no worries, she took the time to point out that I could never use a groupon there again anyway. I figured but she clearly thought I was just a walking wallet!) What a waste of good stylists. I can't see them operating under such terrible people. Read Less

I had called the salon to schedule an appointment for my hair and mentioned Groupon and the special the salon was offering for $65.00.  The owner, Deana stated " you do not have to pay through Groupon, we will honor the same offer at the time of the appointment.  I also mentioned that Groupon is giving me $10.00 credit toward my purchase and she stated " NO PROBLEM"  It will cost you $55.00.  I was skeptical and Deana said I am the owner and you will be fine, absolutely no problem when you come in!  Well, talk about your gut feeling, I went in for my appointment with my proof of the offer, conversation documented, everything that I needed just in case.  The hairdresser stated "this is the $65.00 special?"  we cannot offer the extra $10.00 credit because you have thick hair and your hair is long. (my hair was up to my shoulders and my hair is wavy). It was not an issue until I mentioned the $10.00 credit.  I presented my proof, etc and I stated that this salon is misleading its customers and this is not a way to run a business.  I was so disappointed that I was misled by the owner of the salon!  I walked out and said I will bring my business elsewhere and write a review of my experience in your salon.  Well, CAN YOU BELIEVE THE male owner came out after me and took down my car license plate and said that he was going to call the POLICE AND HAVE ME ARRESTED!  I AM LEAVING THE SCENE OF A CRIME!  I SAID FOR WALKING OUT AND YOU NOT HONORING THE GROUPON?  I said,  Are you kidding me?  I said I will call the police for you!   OMG YOU CANNOT MAKE THIS UP!!!BEWARE!!!!!!!!! I purchased a groupon BEFORE searching reviews, which is not like me.  When I read all the terrible things I was so afraid! But I spent $85 for a Balayage process and there was no turning back. I called and got an appointment with Lindsey 3 days later for a saturday. the salon is very modern, super clean and everyone I encountered was extremely nice. Lindsey took me exactly on time, looked over my hair, discussed the process and we even googled images so she was sure to see exactly what I was expecting (at her recommendation). She was so quick, and honestly, probably did the best job I've ever had done on my hair right down to the haircut. I will 100% be going back. I can say while I was there I did see 2 other customers who were upset over the groupon deal. one was not justified because they canceled their appointment without the 24 hours notice as stated right on the groupon the other was what i believe an honest mistake with a keratin treatment by the stylist, but I won't post more about that because I didn't hear the whole conversation or know the facts. I would recommend this salon and if you buy the groupon, make sure to ask that it covers your services before the stylist starts your service. Read Less

This was my first time using this salon and first time getting a Brazilian blow out treatment at a non Japanese salon. I normally get Japanese and Brazilian. I was nervous to try this salon but wow I am amazed!!! My hair came out so perfect and silky! I think it came out better than when I even get the Japanese. The time the girl who I got (Melissa) took to make sure every piece was gone over and that I was comfortable and happy during the process was beyond my expectations. And I have high ones!!! I am so happy with my results and will not only be returning again in 5-6 months for another Brazilian but to go here on a regular for hair cuts and blow outs!!! The rest of the staff was also very nice and welcoming and accommodating. Another girl Lisa also helped on my hair that I was pleased with! Happy to have found a new salon!!! :) Read Less

Wish I could give 0 stars.I had purchased a Groupon for eyelashes - what a huge mistake that was. The minute I walked in the receptionist didn't even look at me or give me the time of day. She actually gave me the impression that I was bothering her while being there. She put her pointer finger up at me (like saying "one minute") and made me stand there while she finished what she was doing. Rude right from the start - horrible first impression of the salon. The woman who did my eyelashes (which was the owner) had an attitude the whole time. It took her 45 minutes to do a full set. Normal places take 2 hours. You could tell it only took 45 minutes too. I was not happy with them at all. By the second day they were all twisted and misshaped. I decided to go back for a fill-in only for the reason to give her a second chance and maybe it was just a bad first impression that I had. What a mistake that was. There was so much glue on my lashes. They were all clumped together and looked horrible. When I told her I was unhappy with the first application she was so nasty and defensive. I went to another lash place and they removed the lashes from Salon Von De for me. When they removed them I almost cried. My lashes were SO short and almost all gone. The new place I go is the cutest salon. The woman is an absolute doll and the lashes are gorgeous. They look amazing and I get so many compliments on them. I would never return here. Ever. Read Less

First visit, fantastic. Girl was awesome, from cut, color & personality. This made up for the not so welcoming introduction when I walked in requesting info and appt about salon (mind you it was morning mid-week, not too busy to give me the "time of day")Second appointment : 6 weeks later--girl gone. Requested someone up to par with "girl gone". OMG they gave me Damien the creepy guy spoke of on yelp. ODD. My cut and touchup took 3 hours! Not a word out of him except initial mumbled consult. Cut, color was good. But creepy smile through out, and not one word spoken. VERY uncomfortable.I really wanted to give this place a shot. BC I liked their products, and salon looked like an on trend salon--looks can be deceiving .Third appointment. 6 weeks later. Just a touch up. Nicole was my stylist. They called me 4 times with no messages. (I was out for the day at a place with no service) Showed up 10 min early and got attitude from lil' girl at front desk that "she tried like calling you like 7 times" umm it was 4 and no message. Plus, I do have a life outside of my hair appointments.Nicole still took me though, and was nice. Except, she didn't ask me one thing about my color. (my hair is dark brown) Well assuming she thought my hair color was straight forward or went off my last visit color-- now my roots are BLACK. When she came back from her smoke break, after my hair was washed. She noticed the "resistant color" ask if i had this issue before (No, and I also to myslef that the process time felt very fast). She then touched up a little spot on top of my head. Get home, ask a friend to look at the color all around. Not only was the color black, but also patchy half-processed color all over.  Now my roots are mainly black and the rest is brown. Great thanks, Salon Von De-spicable.From comments here, not worth complaining to them bc I don't want their attitude or justifying themselves. So, lesson learned on to find a decent place--that I am more than will to pay for as long as they act like they even care. Read Less

Instead, there is a snarky owner and a weird guy who walks around all the time (not a stylist). Kristina was the best thing about this salon, and she has now left. Overpriced for nothing special.  A typical mani - pedi. nothing special,I don't think the owner even said hello, just went right to work . Zero personality for a business that specializes in giving customers a reason to return. Too bad for me I bought more than one under a different promotion. They used to be called "Polished Ultra nail& Salon"  which had terrible reviews on Yelp as well, and opened up in a new location called 'salon von de. 'Brought my 13 y.o. daughter along for a mani-pedi and the staffer tells her" eh, I've seen better" with  regard to her nails.  They charged me more for her job  than  the promotion cost me.  Big no no. Thank goodness all my money was refunded by my promotions. Good luck to your 'salon' with that attitude.P.s. your  aggressive phone call after my review doesn't help your case. Lose my number.
