Michael is a hair scientist! I have had balayage and a cut by him and both turned out amazing. He knows the perfect forumla for hair color and doesn't mind explaining the process as he goes. As a client you are never left hanging. He does his training in NYC so I trust he is knowledgeable and trendy. Of all my salon experiences I would say he is one of the few people I trust with my hair. I am going to be sad when I have to relocate. The salon is located right next to seabar and has a laid back vibe. There is metered parking along Ellicott. At first $50 seems a little hefty for a womens cut, but that is about the average cost in Buffalo. The price is very reasonable for the quality of work you are getting! Read Less

Michael R. is extremely talented and the best in the area for color correction. Even if you don't need color 'correction,' you'll have better color than you could imagine. He's great with cutting & styling naturally curly hair and different textures also. There's nothing he hasn't seen. This review is specific to Sarah, who is an amazing stylist and the only one I've visited at Fix. I am extremely picky with my hair, and have pretty difficult texture (curly/ wavy). I keep my hair long, and appreciate a super blowout-- which is tough given the natural curl. I had been going to the same stylist in Albany for years, but when I moved to Buffalo I had to find someone in a pinch. I first met Sarah at her previous salon about a year and a half ago. Sarah really impressed me with her attention to detail and her willingness to not chop off too much! She took her time with me, and gave me a beautiful cut that highlighted my layers and texture-- to be worn both curly and straight. She finished with an amazing blowout-- I felt like Gisele Bundchen coming out of the salon! I receive a lot of compliments on my haircut and the flowing layers that Sarah crafted so expertly.I liked Sarah's technique so much that I followed her from her old salon to Fix, and I even pop in just to get a blowout for special occasions! For me, keeping the length and being able to walk out of the salon refreshed and not running to shower and re-style myself is so important. With Sarah, I always want to show off the finished look, and feel like a million bucks for a very reasonable price! On top of being a skilled and consistent stylist who listens to what her client wants, Sarah is personable and sweet. She works to accommodate my schedule, and I always look forward to seeing her. I dropped by for a regular nail but was not sure because their main thing looks hair salon, not nail spa. Since it was walk in, I think I was assigned a temp person. My pinky got a scar and bleeding when she forced filing the side...prep work was terrible and my fingers looked so miserable. This my favorite Salon in Buffalo.  I am a native of Buffalo and have know the whole fix family and Amy Peters for many years.   My first facial ever was with Annette and no one has lived up to it since.  Amy Peters cut my hair for the first time when I was 16 and is and always will be my favorite and best haircut.  I never knew how spoiled I was with her haircuts.  Michael is just awesome and an amazing colorist.  If you want beautiful, rich, class act color, he is your man.  I suggest the Hair Painting Technique.   Stunning!  I am visiting in June and can't wait to stop in and say hi.  Sea Bar is next door and if you haven't been there you are missing out.  The whole neighbourhood has a great city feel and lots to do.  Rosanne is Michael and Annette's Mom and is always my favorite to chat with.  I hope she is there when I stop in.  See you all in June. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder more than a year ago and the medication I was on thinned my hair and completely changed the texture to cotton candy. As a result, I wore a wig for a year and was sure i would wear it forever. i was devastated. My daughter highly recommended I go see Michael for a consultation. I was nervous and embarrassed to take my wig off in front of people. The entire staff was so understanding, sensitive, and professional that I felt comfortable instantly. Michael assured me he could not only improve my hair, but make it look beautiful.  I was skeptical because it was just that bad. We set up an appointment last week for color, cut, and a keratin treatment.  Three hours later I emerged, literally, a new woman. My thin and frizzy hair was now soft, healthy and voluminous. The color was rich and the cut fit my face perfectly.  It was truly a must see before and after event. I moved to Buffalo in June of 2012 and leaving my old stylist in Illinois, who'd been cutting and coloring my hair for 7 years, was so hard.  In fact, the only 2 cuts I've had since the move were on trips back home to see him.  However, it's time to find a new stylist here and late last week, I had the urge to have my hair cut right away.  It was driving me crazy.  I called Fix on Friday morning, right when they opened, and was told that none of the stylists were there yet to see if they could squeeze me in that day, and that someone would call me back.  They called back within 5 minutes and I had an appointment confirmed for 4p that afternoon.  I was a happy girl!I was pretty open with what I wanted for my cut and went in thinking I wanted anywhere from 2-4 inches cut off.  My hair is much longer than I've normally ever had it because I never get it cut and I thought I'd want to go back to a shorter cut.  Michael listened to me talk about what I thought I wanted, asked lots of questions, and then said that he thought we should keep the length, but put in more layers, lighten it up a bit...so we did that.  I was a *bit* disappointed not to get some length chopped off as I sat in the chair BUT Michael was right!  I'm glad he kept the length and he gave me a great cut.  Michael was very friendly and fun, he gave me great recommendations for veggie places to eat in town, but also didn't talk my ear off (Don't get me wrong, I enjoy chatting with stylists, but if there is a natural break in the conversation, that's ok!  I'm an introvert and can find those forced conversations to be excruciating--not an issue with Michael)I like that Fix is downtown and it's a cute space.  I hope they do well and I look forward to seeing Michael again! I have been waiting years and searching cities to find Michael and here he is right on Washington Street. He is a magician of color and cutting.I feel pretty when I leave and don't feel like I was emotionally or financially abused either. Err, sometimes that's happened in my life of getting hair-dos. For embarrassingly long periods. Michael knows my name and I've only been there twice. He remembers my daughter's name! I've had obstetricians who don't remember my name 9 months in of constant appointments and certainly don't remember the name of the baby they actually delivered!I totally love that Fix is in downtown Buffalo. It's one of my criteria for picking services and businesses - I prefer them to be in the city limits. I'll make a small exception for Snyder because I must go to to the Farmer's and Artisans shop and I like the Scherers of Scherer's jewelry store a lot.Michael's sister Annette is funny and nice and beautiful and gave me a pedicure today that I am sure looks very cool because she helped me pick the color. She's who you want picking your color...I hesitate to review Fix Salon because I don't want it to get impossible to book, but he deserves for his business to blowup. In a good way! Read Less

I had a manicure and pedicure here today, Joanne was fantastic! All the things that are important in a high quality salon with respect to sanitary considerations and the prices are completely reasonable. In addition the space is private, a separate room with mani/pedi station and sliding kind of translucent door, very zen, comfortable and relaxing. This is such a beautiful and contemporary salon, situated in one of the best spots on Ellicott Street. Right next to Seabar, stop in here to get pretty before dinner. I live in Clarence and gladly make the trip here to see my girl, Annette.I originally started coming here because I bought a Groupon for a facial, and unbeknownst to me, stumbled into this gorgeous place owned by the family of a high school buddy of mine, Michael Roetzer. He is the color extraordinaire there and his gorgeous sister, Annette, is who I see for pedicures and facials. I even followed her briefly, to another salon she was at temporarily. I'm so glad she's back at Fix.My first date with her was a facial. I've never had a better one, anywhere else. The room she uses is private, at the back of the salon. It's dark and cozy in there. I was up on a warm soft bed, where she put steam and eucalyptus aroma over me. She spent her time massaging my face with beautiful smelling and feeling potions. She also massaged my feet and legs, offered me water after. Soothing, but not cheesy, music was playing in the background the entire time. Let me tell you, I walked out of there feeling like I had been on a weeklong trip to heaven. I felt like a million bucks and my skin glowed. I've been back a couple times for facials, and will be back again.Now let me tell you about the pedicures Annette has given me... Did I mention I followed her to another salon? Yes, she's that good. Their price for a pedicure is on par with other places and its so worth every penny. They have one pedicure station, next to the manicure station, all in their own room in the salon. Truthfully, I love this, as I hate being crowded in a row with other people. Annette masterfully does her thing to make my feet look gorgeous. She never cuts too low, and always ones a great job. A disappointing thing to me in the past is pedis that chip quickly or not enough skin or callous removed. You don't have to worry about that here. I'm currently sporting a pedi done over a month ago, with no chips and my feet still look fresh despite being on my feet all day, all week at work, showers, hot tubs, pools, and such. I've had a pedicure last over almost 3 months before! I can say enough about her mad skill! I love coming here not only for the great service, but to catch up with Annette and Michael! Fix is a small, family owned and operated salon.  It is located downtown next to Seabar, and has the same contemporary feel to it as the rest of the area.  I have personally never had my hair done here, but my boyfriend had a haircut once.  I joined him, and it was a pretty good experience.  The girl did a nice job, and was friendly.  They offer a lot of services, and one day I plan on getting a massage.  One day!  What I liked is that every member in the family has a different job at the salon.  One does the color, one cuts, one does nails, and so on.  Pretty cool!   It would be nice to read some more reviews from people who have experienced their other services or from clients who go in routinely. Since I moved to Buffalo I had been looking for a good "hair place". I travel quite a bit for work and know great places to get salon services when I am away, but had just not found a place here yet, until I decided to try Fix. It was an easy choice in terms of location - they are literally 2 doors down the block from where we live. I had walked by many times and liked the look of the front area, so I took a shot. I've been in twice now for color and cut services and I am happy to say that I think I have found my place! I like it there. It's very comfortable. Everyone I've met there was very pleasant. The colorist, Michael, is great -easy to talk to, fun perspective on the city and most importantly, provided excellent color service! The salon is clean and well maintained, the atmosphere is relaxing. It's a good place.There is nothing better than leaving a salon feeling good about how you look. I left Fix feeling great!
