The worst, ever. Free was the stylist I would see at this salon. THE WORST.How about she was late for the very first appointment she ever made with me? Late by 25 minutes. I had to wait in the bar next door for her. How about she was late for the 2nd appointment?How about...Okay, I guess I should blame myself for continuing to make appointments with her but I felt her work was decent and the price at the time was fair, despite her horrendously unprofessional time management skills.The last straw came when I made an appointment with her and she just completely flaked on me. I was going to a themed Great Gatsby party and wanted a hairstyle from that era. We made the appointment a week before the event and she asked me to email her some inspiration pictures. The following day I did just that. She never responded. So, two days later I followed up with her via text. No response. I sent her another email. No response. The day before the appointment was supposed to happen, I sent her another text just to see if we were still on. NO RESPONSE.I wound up doing my own hair for the event because she had screwed me time wise way too many times in the past for me to chance it with her, especially when she didn't respond to MULTIPLE emails/text messages asking to confirm the appointment. I decided to NEVER go to her again.WHY, almost ONE YEAR TO THE DAY that she originally flaked on me, did Free call me?????? I didn't answer because I just KNEW she had the wrong number. But just in case, I sent her a text asking if she called me. She responded she did - she thought I was a different Jennifer that she knew. Though she had the wrong number I definitely took the time to let her know which Jennifer I was and how I felt about her COMPLETELY FLAKING OUT ON ME AS A CUSTOMER, A YEAR PRIOR. That unprofessional COWARD didn't even bother to respond back. Talk about ghetto and tacky!I am so glad I found a better, more professional salon to go to. I would never refer anyone to Free or to this salon. THE WORST! Read Less

This place is packed and for good reasoning. My cousin and I were lucky, we were able to get a 'walk in' by calling and a client had JUST cancelled. Although I wanted to go blonde, after a consultation with Keisha she was honest and told me I'd damage my hair considering I'd dyed it black and lifting it would ruin me. Some beauticians don't give a damn and still would've done it but she saved me from ruining 2 years of being natural for a color I would've gotten tired of in a month. I appreciate that. She was kind and understanding of my rants on how I wanted to be blonde although she wasn't letting it happen lol! Professional and caring. Instead she blessed my hair with a wash, deep condition, press and trim. My hair has never been shinier, fuller or softer. The salon is nice, It's spacious with a nice and clean bathroom. I follow Anissa on Instagram and decided to book an appointment for a sew in with a closure. After reading the reviews about her on yelp I was hesitant about letting her do my hair but I decided to go and I must say I had a pleasant experience. Body by Anissa is angry, and ratchet for no reason. She has the nastiest disposition I've ever experienced from a hair stylist or anyone rendering a service. She wears a ratty white-scalped turquoise wig and a bad attitude. Anissa smelled like a combination of haven't showered in a few days but I still layers on deocorant to cover up the smell and club smoke. Not only did it seem as if she was having a bad week-she just reeks of envy and bitterness. She was mean and stuck me in the eye "mistakenly" to the point where I had to ask her what her problem was. She immediately brushed it off and pretended to be nice, thereafter. I asked for a bob and she tried to convince me to do a layered look. I insisted on the bob, tho. She then proceded to cut my hair with no sort of knowledge of cutting, seemingly. I let her continue because I thought it was her process. Boy, was I in for a surprise when she took the cape off indicating she was finished.  I thought it was a joke. She cut my hair and it was clearly chopped up and jagged, uneven on either side and a heavy newscaster 80s feel. It was as if she did it on purpose. She did! Some one else had to step in and finish my hair. I was in tears from anger. I wanted to rip her apart. She walked away with no apology. If you ever walk into this salon you are asking for it. The salon itself is pretty but however DO NOT Go to body by Anissa, she is a horrible stylist with a terrible attitude for no apparent reason. I had her install my full lace wig and I understand I got some dye on my lace which is my fault, however she plucked the hair out of my wig so much it looks like the wig is balding in the middle!! It overall wasn't a pleasant experience she isn't a welcoming stylist she just wants your money and does not care what happens to your real hair or extensions, she didn't even put any oil or grease in my scalp after braiding it, who does that! After yeard of looking for a good salon in NYC, I was offered to do a review of Shic by Soketah for my blog, That Girl At The Party!  This is one of the rare times that I have become a regular customer after a review visit. Keisha is so wondrous with hair and a real sweetheart that she is now my regular go-to.  After years of practically having to pack a bag and be away for the whole weekend to get my hair done in a loud unprofessional environment, it is such a relief to be able to book and go in without a lot of fuzz.  My hair was swingy and healthy and everyone loved it.The bad reviewers must just be personal haters! Been here a couple of times for weave install. It's a nice place but I'm not going back here. I wear a weave while transitioning from relaxers to natural so caring for my natural hair is critical. I don't feel that they know much about hair care. Definitely always have to cut my own hair and do a better job at home. They are rough on your hair. No need to pull and rip it put of my head...I end up in the chair for seven hours anyway so what's the rush?  I was burned and my hair was braided so tight it hurt for weeks. Each time I went, they were late. Once a half hour. Another time more than that; I took first appointment to avoid this but clearly it didn't matter. They will push their hair. It's good quality but the bunches are small and they don't give you the remaining hair. A racket I'm sure. Lastly, it's not a professional place. There's all these people strolling in and out, loitering and chatting with the stylists. The stylists are eating on the floor, talking on the phone while with a client. Given the price there's better options...like maybe someone's kitchen. Read Less
