I used to love this place but now after all the issues my friends, family and myself have been having here, I'm not going back. They have gotten more and more rude as time has gone on. Today as I was paying for my very expensive pedicure and manicure, I was told that I didn't tip enough! There is no way that any business or staff member should tell a paying customer that they didn't tip enough, no matter what! Absolutely terrible experience. Not only was my lady rude and rushed through my toes and nails; the manager hastled me for a tip!! Told me I have to get my server 20% tip. I have NEVER had someone hastle me for a tip, ever. Tip is NOT required. I didn't have to even give her any. No matter how good she was, and in this case she was bad, you never bug for a tip or demand higher. Tip is something people do to be nice not because we HAVE to do it. Maybe check how your management and employees act before asking me for a tip. Just by that fact alone, I would not go here. Worst nail experience I have ever had. From 6 employees standing around my friend and I while we were getting our nails done laughing and talking about Us to a nail technician getting up and walking away for 15 minutes without saying a word. This place was so niceee everything is clean and organized. I got A and C it costs $30. They do the extra touches here like back massage and hot towel and all that. I made an appointment 30 mins ahead of time and didn't have to wait when I got here (some places still make you wait). Lily did my nails she was very sweet. Got introduced to ANC in Syracuse and was worried about going to a different salon. My mother and I both had appointments and they made sure we sat next to each other. They did an amazing job! Very unnecessarily long wait... Although I made an appointment and arrived 15 Min early, they still had me wait an additional ten minutes on top of my appointment time. I'm so amazed I did not have to wait , and my nail tech Anna was so patient. At first I was a little skeptical because a full set is 35 dollars but it all worth it. This is the first time all my nails are all even and no smears from hitting the dryer . My nails are so beautiful ! The first time I had my nails done here, I couldn't have been happier. The sweetest young woman and very good service. I was very happy that I'd found a nail salon in Albany- finally! Today was a bit disappointing, but I haven't given up. However, I don't want to be reprimanded by my nail attendant when I accidentally ask for the wrong process. I'm not in the nail profession. Further, I have no desire to be told that I'm making my nail attendant job's harder because my hands are tense. I'm glad to know I'm here for her convenience. This place is a GEM. The service was really good. Maria did my pedicure. She did a good job.  she's very sweet. Overall their quiet here.  but a relaxed atmosphere. My wife had Anna. She seemed amazing. We're from Long Island so I would say we're picky and spoiled. LR nail is the only nail salon we have found in the capital region that goes neck in neck with what we're use too. One of the best nail places I've been to in Albany. They are clean and so detail oriented! I went in for a gel manicure and Feng was amazing! He was patient and made sure that he completed everything even though they had 1-2 people waiting. He didn't rush me at all. I also noticed one of the other nail techs redoing a few nails because he noticed they weren't perfect. The first nail salon in the capitol region that I've gone to more than once! For me, that's a breakthrough! After only being willing to try regular old manicures that hardly lasted one day, I finally caved in and tried ANC, or powder dip nail polish here for the first time, as regular manicures never seem to last me more than a day or two. I was a little nervous about the process, as some reviews have said the ANC manicures hurt. Perhaps the grinding down of the powder on the nails with the polishing tool is a tad uncomfortable, but not painful. I also had one pedicure done here, and it has not chipped after two weeks, even after being barefoot on the beach. Basic pedicure was $25. I liked that I saw the tub of the pedicure chair being cleaned with Lysol after it was used.As for cleanliness overall, it seems that the salon uses disposable scrubby pads and files -- a new one for each guest. Though that can't be good for our planet, I appreciate it for sanitary purposes. The tools used also appeared freshly sterilized...with a few exceptions. I did not like that the heads of grinding/polishing tool -- used to smooth out the nail/powder during an ANC manicure -- was not sterilized between each use. The grinding of the nail causes a lot of small particles of powder/nail to fly everywhere (picture a power saw with the sawdust), coating the grinder, your hands, etc. When each technician took out the head of the polishing/grinding tool, I noticed on both of my visits that the box the heads were stored in and the tool itself looked powdery, as in -- dusted with nail/anc debris. Similarly, after using the tool on me, it went back into its carrying case, rather than being sterilized before storage. The salon also had powder brushes -- big blush brushes -- they used to wipe off the powdery debris from your hands. That does not appear to be cleaned between guests. I'm also not sure I love the fact that your nail is dipped directly into the color pot...along with everyone else's nails. So, although, on grander scale, the salon seems to do a fine job with sterilization, the ANC process could definitely use improvement in that area!I was a little put off by previous reviews that noted issues with tipping, because if a customer is giving a truly fair tip for the service provider, I don't think it is appropriate for the owner/technician/manager to comment or ask for more, but I did tip each of my technicians at least 20%, so I can't say I had any issues with that. The location is not easy to get to for me. I won't likely come here again after work, as the traffic on both Western Ave and the highway was atrocious. The parking lot is a little small, and has several businesses, so I could see it filling up. I won't likely be here too frequently, as it is out of the way for me, but likely a convenient option for Guilderland/uptown Albany residents, as there were many UA students there. Overall, LR nail comes in for me at 4 stars. I'm definitely uneasy about the cleanliness of the ANC tools, but I will say that both of my technicians were nice, the ANC manicures came out very well and have not chipped at all, and I was not charged extra to remove the ANC polish. I found myself in the middle of Albany in need of a manicure stat. Of course, I turned to Yelp to lead me to nail nirvana and ended up at LR Nail. It's part of a stripmall and we easily found a spot right in front of the entrance. It was a Saturday afternoon and pretty busy, but there was enough staff to accommodate us right away. I was going to go for a gel manicure but saw ANC, the powder nail method, was the same price ($30). I never tried it before so decided to throw caution to the wind and go for it. They had SO many colors to choose from. Way more than I've seen at other nails salons as of late. It took awhile because I had to take off my gel and then go through the whole ANC process. I was happy to see that they didn't charge to take the gel off like some salons do. All in all, I didn't LOVE the powder method and actually found it a little painful, but I don't blame that on them. My manicurist, Sam, was friendly and gave a firm, albeit quick, massage afterwards. My friend got a regular manicure which was only $12 and quality as well. I can see why this is the top rated nail salon in Albany. It would definitely be a good go-to if I lived in the area. Read Less

I barely had a 5 minute wait and someone was already hovering over me to pick a color so I can get settled. Note, when I made my appointment, the person at the desk did not ask me if it was okay if I had a male nail tech. I would have opted to have a female nail tech. My basic pedicure was fairly quick. It took 17 minutes for a basic scrub, polish, and a paraffin wax on my heels. I would have wanted more time to fully soak my feet and maybe use more pressure with scrubbing my feet. I felt like the nail tech didn't want to hurt me so he was super gentle with the foot scrub. The hot towel was a nice touch though. As soon as the polish was on, he directed me to sit where the fan was to dry my toes. He awkwardly gave me a shoulder massage with a towel that I did not care for and then asked if I could pay right away. I kinda just wanted to get the service done and over with so I paid and waited for my feet to dry. Did not get a copy of my receipt which I think should be standard practice. Some positive points of this place, it's super clean, quiet, and seems to be popular. The salon was pretty much filled. They also have a wide selection of OPI and Essie nail polish which is a plus in my book. Call in for an appointment so there isn't a hassle of waiting. This place has quickly become my go-to mani place in Albany after a variety of crappy experiences at other places that left me with gel manicures that peel after a week and even worse, bleeding cuticles. I've been twice now, both as walk-ins. The first time I arrived shortly after they opened and received one of the best manicures of my life! I asked for a square cut and Sam made sure each nail was perfect. It lasted three weeks and I was still getting compliments until I got it removed. The second walk-in was during a crowded time and they squeezed me in. I should have expected that it wouldn't be as great as my first mani, especially after the person who started with me left to take care of someone who made an appt and left me with an assistant who needed directions on how to remove my gel. But, you live and learn and I can't be mad about it. I made an appointment tomorrow and suggest that you make an appt to ensure you get exactly what you want. Read Less

The person who did my nails(pedi and mani) today was very pushy and rushing the things with out doing it properly. She did not scrub my feet well. The service was the worst of all I ever had.I have asked for square cut shape and she shaped my nails so uneven like a slanting edge(please take a look at my fourth finger and thumb) Hate the experience. She did not apply the polish evenly and there were bubbles all over the nails with lumps of polish. When my hand accidentally got smudged I have requested her to remove the entire polish and paint all over again, she squeezed my left finger to clean the polish so hard that its still paining  Would never go there.
