I took my mom and sister for a girls day hair makeover ( plus my little boy). All three of us have had bad hair cut experiences at other places. I was looking for a quality salon to treat them to & have our hair woes fixed. All three of us were super happy with our stylists & our finished haircuts. The salon was lovely & comfortable. This place deserves Best of SF every year. They do some quality work. I've been going to Jonathon for over a year now and I have recommended everyone I know to see him! He is doing NY/LA quality cut and color. Not only only does he do a great balayage color, but he also does the best blowout I've ever had. Everyone at the salon is always very friendly, plus they have the cutest decor. For people who complain about the prices- you pay for what you get. This is what great quality costs, they're on par with salons I used to go to in NY. They use amazing product in your hair, too. I went to this salon and got a good haircut from Alicia and so I went back months later asking for someone who would specialize in curly/ wavy hair. the receptionist suggested Colin who I made an appt with which soon became the biggest mistake I have ever made in regard to my hair.  I asked Colin to simply give me a trim of about 3/4 of an inch and then thin out my thick wavy hair so it wouldn't be so poofy.  He made it seem like this was exactly what he would do, but instead proceeded to take off more than 7 inches of length, created layers that were literally shorter than the bangs I was GROWING OUT, and also had the audacity to say that the girl who cut my hair before and gave me an actually decent haircut did it incorrectly.  I didn't even realize how short he was making until it was almost over.  He even realized how bad it was because before I could even really see the finished cut he offered to give me a half off discount for "not doing what I wanted".  My hair went from pretty long waves below my chest to being the most hideous Shirley temple bob I have ever seen in my life. i cried for literally weeks every time I saw my hair down, and now three months later it's still so awful that I have to straighten it every single day to make it look even half decent.  If you have curly or wavy hair I suggest taking a chance with a homeless blind man on the street before trusting Colin with a pair of scissors.  He ruined my hair and it won't grow back to where it was for so long.  I honestly don't think I will ever go to another hair salon again, because having someone cut all of your hair off after expecting a tiny trim is actually so traumatizing. I had a great experience at Wild Hare salon! I called to see if they could fit me in for a bang trim and 15 minutes later I was getting my hair cut. Kristin gave me a great cut, taking the time to ask about my preferences and ideal look even though she wasn't charging for the trim. I was extremely impressed by Kristin's knowledge, skill and kind manner. The salon has a unique and artsy atmosphere. I will definitely come back for a full cut and style when I need one. Jonathan colored my hair today for the first time. I would definitely see him again. Not only did he do a perfect job with the color, AND the blow-out, he is also very gentle. Never pulled a hair. I went to this salon while visiting Sante Fe on the recommendation of someone who had not been there but had heard some positive comments.I have rarely written negative reviews but I want to share my experience and hope you will have a better one.Overpriced for the level of artistry and a really self important attitude from the owner to the stylists. They aren't turning out cuts or color that are exceptional and the services such as shampooing and styling were afterthoughts, as if it these were a chore.Perhaps you'll have a better experience if you choose this place. My wife just returned from having her hair colored and blown dry.  I felt sorry for her because the cut of her bangs was the worst I ever seen. Also the color was not good because the root touch up did not match the rest of her hair.  I would think that they would at the least blend the color better. I hope she stops going there. Read Less

When you walk in the atmosphere the receptionist provides is welcoming and professional. Ericka cut my hair and spent 2 hours with me on my thick long hair. She was pleasant, funny and personable. She didn't complain or make any rude remarks about the time (all my hair cuts take more than an hour and some people don't like that). I love my hair and I have never had such a great experience at a salon. There were no ghastly fumes or fragrances. The price was great. I will definitely be back and I recommend anyone who is a wondering about it, just go. It's worth it. I called Wednesday and had an appt by Friday which was the next day I was available. I really wanted to like this salon. I booked a cut and  multi-process color, and it  took me over two weeks to get an appointment . They did not allot time for my color and their only suggestion was that I come in next week for color. It was during a busy time of year for me and I didn't have an opening when they suggested I come back. I paid $100 for really poor service. If I had run my veterinary hospitals in this manner, I wouldn't have had a business for very long. Read Less

I got a haircut here last month with Ashley. She was pleasant and fun! I took in a picture of what I wanted to get and she and I talked about what was possible with my hair. She showed me how to style it in a way that's realistic for me to recreate on my own. It's rare to find a hairdresser that knows wavy, let alone curly hair. Ashely is a real find! So perhaps previous reviewers are used to spending a LOT of money for below-average haircare, but I like to get my money's worth. And I want to be listened to when I spend a lot. My daughter wanted to have a really nice cut and highlights for her Prom, and I when I booked I was told it would be around $125. When we got there my daughter SHOWED the stylist what we wanted and I asked if she was clear about it, and then she dismissed me in New Mexico True fashion. She ended up giving my daughter all-over lightening instead of light streaks as she wanted. Oh and did I mention it was $160 and she took 2 1/5 hours (about 45 minutes longer than it should have been)? Will never go there again. I went to Wild Hare while on vacation on a whim and I am so happy with my hair!! I went from brown to platinum blonde, and it looks so natural, with high lights and lowlights included. The salon was impeccably clean but still boutique-esque and charming. The staff was so nice when I walked in, and my stylist, Alicia, was so sweet. She made the process fun and made me laugh. I told her what I wanted and she listened carefully and when I showed her a picture of what I wanted, she told me what she could do, and described the process to me, so I was never in the dark about what was happening. When my hair was all dried, she had done exactly what I wanted, but it was far better than I could have ever imagined possible. I never thought that I could look this good blonde, and that a change up could look so natural. I am SO happy with it, and I have VERY high standards when it comes to my hair. I moved here from Glendale a year and a half ago.  I went to another salon which here, in spite of it's 10 million Best Of awards, was by far NOT the best.   Then I met someone who recommended Patrek and he is the very BEST.  He does highlights and cuts my hair and he truly is amazing.  I've recommended others to him also and they all say the same thing - it's a top Beverly Hills salon in Santa Fe.   I must say though, that all the hair I see walking out of there looks great, so I doubt you could go wrong with anyone there.   I'm so happy I found Patrek and this salon - can't find enough superlatives about him and the shop!  LOVE IT. Kind of odd. This is a tiny and relatively unknown salon in Santa F, yet I got this creepy attitude from the guy who did my hair (Patrick). He had a gal (assistant?) who basically did all his work, too (applied color, checked the color, rinsed the color, blew dry the hair, etc). Weird, as he is no good to begin with... and yet has an 'assistant' (that did almost all of the entire service). Almost laughable. Anyway, I chalked it up to his perhaps feeling a bit insecure about his line of work-- so I just let it go (sorta felt bad for the guy). But while getting a lousy cut from Patrick (looked like something out of the 80's-- had to get it repaired the next day at another salon) I spotted in the mirror another stylist (Collin) who gave a great cut and highlight to another customer. I was so envious of that client in his chair!So, I scheduled my next appointment here with Collin and was very pleased. He is happy and a secure guy... and pretty good at what he does. A while back I made an appointment for a bang trim. I often will get a bang trim at a new salon to see if I like the way the stylist cuts my hair, then later get a cut and color if they are professional/reasonable/good. I don't think this is too ridiculous since the hair they're cutting is attached to my head that everyone will see, everyday. After scheduling the appointment the male receptionist was SUPER rude and made me want to cancel the appointment immediately. However, I've had a bad day before so I chose to ignore it.When I went to get my bang trim, he was still SUPER rude and was unfortunately the stylist cutting my bangs. It took a good 40 minutes because he was helping people as they walked in, while also cutting my hair.My bangs turned out ok, hence the second star. Was so looking forward to my hair appointment today; visiting Santa Fe for the first time and googled salons. Made an online appointment, and a few days later, received a voicemail confirmation. Well, the good ends there.Walked in to the bored front desk girl and gave her my info. Don't even think she made eye contact with me, as she was telling me there was no appointment in their system. I explained everything, telling her I had a vmail confirmation. As she keeps staring at her screen, a pregnant woman, a stylist I assume, appears at the desk, also staring at the screen, asking what the problem is. The receptionist explains, and they both continue to stare. Finally I say, "Here is the voicemail"  and I play it for the receptionist. No one says anything to me. Not an apology, not offering me anything. Then as I get more frustrated, the pregnant stylist says to me "It's not our fault" with an attitude.Seriously?Don't waste your time. Read Less

I’d been having a tough time finding a beauty salon in Santa Fe ever since I moved here. I don’t trust a lot of people with my hair, but a friend recommended that I try the Wild Hare Salon, so I checked out their website and after giving them a call I decided to do it. I got an appointment with Kristen for a cut, and let me tell you, I was so surprised! I was so happy with my cut. I have already gotten so many compliments. The salon was so clean, and very upscale. Writing this review is risky to my great hair. The last time I liked my hair this much, my stylist became super popular and too expensive for me to book. Yet, with an abundance of salons and a shortage of great stylists in this town, I feel like everyone needs to know how great this place is. The decor is stylish and upscale but very comfortable. I was offered a choice of beverages as soon as I walked in. My stylist, Katrina, was excellent. She listened to all of my problems with my color and told me what she would do to fix it.  Wild Hare is not a full service salon. I did however get the best cut and color I have had in years.  They also use yummy smelling sustainable products from Italy that felt uber luxurious. Also, their prices are highly affordable. I'm sad to admit I have payed much more for much less in Santa Fe. The highlights for me:- a wonderfully relaxing head massage with my shampoo. - quality cut and color- funky cool bathroom with chalkboard wall of quotes made me smileI will be going back and recommending this place. I came to Patrek to fix my color and he did an amazing job. I had been coloring my hair red and since moving to Santa Fe the water has been stripping the color and my skin has been so dry. I decided I needed to go back to my natural blond color. For anyone who has tried to go from red to blond they know the horror of fried hair. Patrek took his time and did an outstanding, amazing perfect job. The color is pretty much identical to my natural color and my hair feels as healthy as before my coloring.
