I would like to express my abhorring experiences with this store. This place treated me like I am a second class citizen. I did not expected to be treated any differently than others but just as an equal. I've been here quite a few times. I can see the differences between how the staffs treated other costumers who appeared to be older than me and with more money and how they treated me, an Asian woman currently a student at St. John's. I was an actress for many Thai TV series and a host for Disney TV show in Thailand for 12 years. I know how makeup store and makeup artist should treat their costumers. Today, I went in to buy Laura Mercier powder. The usual uncomfortably causing by the insincerity and judgement of the staffs was there. They actually left me leaving the store with my cheek half pink! I asked for a trial for a brush and since they didn't have the product I asked for, she suggested another one. Cleaning one part of my face and put the product on. I can see the differences between both cheek. The one that she put on the product and the one that she did not! i didn't ask for another cheek since I really wanted to get out of that place. But isn't it a makeup store's etiquette to make a woman looks decent walking out of the store? Fortunately, I am going home directly afterwards but what if I have to go some where and meet people? I left the store looked like one red cheek baboon! ' At the cashier, the staff looked at me briefly and ask if I need a bag for my product. I said I do since my backpack is full with books and winter clothings. She paused briefly and gave me a smallest plastic bag for my purchase. I asked for a paper bag since it's better for the environment. In my mind, I would rather have paper bag than the plastic one which it will immediate has no use for me when I get home and will stay on the planet for millions of years. Her reaction startled me. She said with a harsh tone (now that I already bought a product and just one), " well, I wouldn't think this (the powder) is big enough for the paper bag!". I replied "at least I can reuse this". Let me breakdown her reasoning a bit. She said that the product I bought was not big enough for her "beautiful" paper bag. Is there any other products in the make up store that is bigger than my powder box? Most of the products are in small sizes such as lipsticks and mascaras. I've been hear before and other staffs treated me with a bit more respect. At least, they did not give me a harsh look and tone of voice when I ask for a simple request. They seem to hide it better. I will never know what lies underneath her actions. Did she think I am trying to take the advantage of the store by asking to try some makeup on or asking for a paper bag in stead of a plastic bag? I wish she knows it did not give me any feeling of pride or satisfaction carrying that paper back with their store's logo on it. I care about the planet and the utilities of the bag and I truly want to try the brush and was planning to buy it. Eventually, it comes down to how we treat every human being equally and with respect. The subtleties of the discrimination of the store may seem insignificant but the small daily actions when being perpetrated by the majorities can turn into great violence as we have seen in the world history and the history of this country. Remember the time before 1865 in the South where a particular race was considered sub-human and the injustice done there? Have we achieved the true equality and the freedom of mind from racial discrimination in our present era? One must ask oneself that question by looking deeply into one's mind, thoughts and actions. Are you contributing to the betterment of the world or are you perpetrating the injustice? I decided to write this as a warning for other costumers and to raise the awareness of how we treat one another in our daily lives could have a significant universal meaning behind it. As matter of fact, I just looked into my bag, they gave me the Invisible powder in stead of a translucent one!!!Read Less

I stopped into this amazing store when I was visiting Santa Fe last week.  This cosmetics store is awesome and has something for every woman.  I was promptly greeted by one of their friendly staff members, Becca Toups, and she spent a great deal of time assisting me and answering all my questions.  I was introduced to an airbrush product by Temptu that I am so excited about.  I purchased the foundation cartridge and hair touch up cartridge with the airbrush tool.  Becca showed me how to use the tool and after she helped apply the make up my face looked flawless.  I can't wait to use it on my own.  My friends that were with me loved the store and found the staff to be incredibly attentive and friendly.  The store carries all reputable and popular brands.  It's a great place to browse and shop.  I will definitely stop in each time I'm in Santa Fe.  Thank you Cosbar for a great experience at your shop.  Your products and staff are awesome! Simply the BEST! I love how all the ladies at CosBar spoil me with that one on one personal experience. Moving to Santa Fe from the east coast was not easy for me, especially not having a Neiman's, SAKS, etc and having access to the best of luxury skincare and cosmetics. My sister, mom and I had an amazing experience here. I am make-up illiterate and my sister and mom, while more experienced then me, wanted suggestions for their skin tone and tips on how to apply the make-up. We made an appointment with Audrey and she was wonderful. She started by selecting a wide range of make-up products that would go well with my complexion. She choose a green eyeliner which was very unique but looked really good. I typically go with black eyeliner and have realized how much better green is. After selecting all the products, Audrey went through and gave me a tutorial for how to put everything on for both a day at the office and a night out. She was incredibly patient and answered all of our questions. After going through everything for me, she helped my sister select eyeliner colors for her and gave her some tips as well. Overall, this was the best experience any of us have had with a makeup expert. Audrey was very knowledgeable and put a lot of thought into what would look good on us. The store is adorable and since it is a smaller boutique type chain, you get a lot more individual attention then if you are at a larger chain. I came here to look for a lipstick and lipliner so my wedding makeup. The customer service was great here! They have all of the designer brands of makeup which was great but a little pricey. I visited this store in an attempt to secure liquid makeup for brown skin. I was taken aback when the sales clerk could not find makeup that was not the color of chalk. Santa fe the little town that wants so desperately to be a sophisticated town cannot offer a jar of makeup to ethnic clientele, how the hell can it be sophisticated? Word to the wise, if your skin is darker than an envelope, stay out of Santa Fe Cos bar. Read Less

The customer service at Cos Bar of Santa Fe is outstanding.  In July, I purchased an outfit for the opera and needed a lipstick to go with my new look. When the staff heard that I was heading to the opera, they did my eye make-up for free. It was gorgeous!When I purchased the lipstick and a few other products, they included a sample perfume vial.  I fell in love with the scent but could not figure out what the fragrance was.  In September, I called Cos Bar and spoke with Audry.  She asked me to send the empty perfume vial back to her via mail because I live 4 hours away. A few days later, I received a voice message from Audry informing me that the scent was a signature fragrance from Tom Ford.  (Cos Bar of Santa Fe is the only carrier of Tom Ford's fragrance collection in New Mexico.)   Audry even called back a second time to ensure I received her voice message.  My husband then purchased my new favorite fragrance from Cos Bar for my birthday in October. I had the most pleasant experience and wound up purchasing more products that I will soon need to replenish.  Sara Giles is the associate who assisted me and passed along various practical makeup application secrets. I moved here recently and was excited to see a store that carries high end skin care as there is not a lot here for that. The sales people are nice enough to your face - as long as your buying and of course the products are really expensive. I did receive a free sample of an product. I liked it enough to buy another product from the same line (over $100), but did not ask for a sample. The next time I came in, I asked about another product from the same line, but was told I would have to buy something in order to get a sample. WTF?! What is this, Macy's?!  Do these people think I run some scam in the Southwest where I travel all over getting free samples and put them all together to make a full- size? get over yourselves. I am useless with makeup, and a few hours before a friend's wedding (in September) I realized I didn't want to look horrible. I walked in and said, "I need to look pretty, help!" (seriously, I think that was exactly what I said) and they laughed and said to sit down and they'd take care of me. I said I wanted to look low-maintenance but to even up my not-so-great skin. To do your makeup, they either charge $100, or ask that you buy 3 products. I opted for the latter.Eloisa (I think that was her name - at least that is the name on the card she gave me) deftly made my face look decent, explained everything she was doing, and made me look marvelous. Best high-end cosmetics and facial products in Santa Fe! The customer service is excellent. They are very knowledgeable about the products and are very friendly. You can order ahead and do a drive-by pick up too!! (since downtown parking can be tough some days). They have everything Dillard's has (same price!) plus products you can't find anywhere else in Santa Fe. The perfume selection is only the best. This place is more like Saks! Read Less
