I had a Keratin treatment performed by Emily and it came out excellent! It relieved my hair of the frizziness and relaxed the wave leaving it silky soft. The best Keratin treatment I ever had. The haircut and chocolate conditioning treatment by Emily came out equally awesome. Everyone at the salon is required to be certified in the Brazilian Blowout and Keratin Treatment. Called the salon stating that I was interested in the Brazilian Blowout special that they have going on for the month of August. But that I wanted someone who has experience with ethnic/curly hair. Receptionist stated they had someone who could do my hair the next day at 10:00 am. After researching I saw that the average time you spend at the salon for this service is roughly 90 minutes. Because I have Ethnic/curly hair I figured it would take 2 hrs maybe a bit more. I was i...n the salon for 4 1/2 hours and at one point had TWO people working on my hair pulling in 2 different directions .I have shoulder length FYI. The lady doing my hair, although pleasant it was obvious she had little to no experience with ethnic hair. Also making the statement that once I'm done getting the treatment I will be "Becky with the good hair", which I find deeply offensive, as if my curly/ethnic hair isn't "good hair" I gritted my teeth and smiled just wanting to get through the awful experience. After finishing the service, I was very underwhelmed by my hair. It felt lighter but that was it. My hair Looked almost identical to when I walked in but now very dry. I ended up paying not the 99$ special but 160 I'm assuming because of my hair type and how they struggled to do my hair. I did leave a tip because I'm courteous and do recognize that she "attempted" to do my hair and make small talk. I have never left a salon unhappy until today. I went here a few years ago after we moved to the area. It was by far the very worst experience I have ever had at a hair salon. They did not listen to what I wanted. She did what she thought would look better. I asked for blond hair. I was a natural blond as a kid, but I had not died my hair for many years and my hair is now naturally brown. She said that she was going to give me highlights. I thought great blond hair with blond highlights. What I ended up with was brown hair and lighter brown highlights. She told me that this would look better on new than the blond. She even thought that the highlights were to light so she added brown toner so they wouldn't be to light. When she saw how unhappy I was. She offered to fix my hair in a week. (I didn't want to damage my hair too badly so I went back a week later) When she"fixed" my hair she just lightend my highlights. I still did not have blond hair. While she was fixing my hair, another woman came in and asked for bangs. The other hair dresser there, told the woman that they would not look good on her and told her she would do something else. Clearly the stylist there know what's best for their customers. Even if the customers don't agree with them. I will say that my highlights were very nice highlights, but that is not what I asked for. I now have blond hair and I think it looks great. I went in here for a Brazilian blowout. I saw Dan. I thought they would be stuck up and snotty here due to the side of town and the building. However the front desk girl was very nice. My hairdresser was very down to earth and was very nice. She ask appropriate questions on the history of my hair before she went on. And was nice and gentle. Then I was dreading checking out as I thought they/she was going to pressure me into buying their products, but no. I used to love getting my hair done at Unique; unfortunately, the turn over rate is really high and my daughter and I have had to switch stylists a few times. Hum. I went to this salon months ago on a whim for a haircut. Stylist was in a bad mood short with me, and even though I wanted a small trim far more was cut off (sometimes happens) but one side was a half inch too short lop sided. I had one of my friends who usually cuts my hair fix it. I purchased their Moroccan hair package that I stopped using because it made my hair fall out. I finally grew my hair back out from the last visit. So today I called hoping I'd get a different stylist and was asked 6 times who cut my hair last time even though I told them I couldn't remember insinuating I'm not a loyal customer. Gave me to the manager who was less than friendly told me it'd still be $50 for a dry haircut after wasting my time hmmmmn' about it. Go to aveda skip the attitudes and lop sided cuts. I was fortunate to get a last minute appointment on a Saturday. Especially at a place that has someone that is willing to work with African American hair. My stylist gave some good tips, maybe told me some things about my hair that I didn't want to hear, but maybe needed to. She came across knowledgeable and comfortable and that means a lot. Was glad she didn't stick me under a dryer and actually blow dried my hair. The only thing was the somewhat rough blow dry. I truly lucked out by getting an appointment with Greg Miranda (uniquelyelegantsalon.com…). Greg is a genuinely good person who takes great pride in his work. I literally didn't have to say anything and he knew exactly what I my hair worries were and what I needed for my hair texture and type. Anyone can cut hair but it takes a professional with a high degree of skill to really understand what the client needs convert it into something that is functional, manageable, and looks great! Great salon...very friendly and welcoming. I'm new to the area and went to a "chain store" salon. Was butchered, so depressing. Did a Google search and found Uniquely Elegant. Read every review I could find. Decided, based on the reviews from several sources, to give them a try. Am sssoooo happy I did. Danette was a great. She asked so many questions. Spent at least 15 minutes talking about what I was looking for in a cut and services before she ever placed a drape on me. She was so thorough. I will definitely be a repeat customer. To me, prices are appropriate for the amount of time they spend with each individual. If you are looking for a fancy decorated building or decor, this is not your place. Excellent salon... Very welcoming, lots of skill and good prices. I was very happy with my cut and style. It came out better than I imagined. I especially liked that Carly showed me how to make my hair look that way every day, and really get the style right on my own so I can get the most from my new cut.
