I was very disappointed with my visit today, I had a pedicure done for my first time here and it was not the best. The personnel takes offense if their work doesn’t satisfy the customers expectations. It nearly took an hour just to clean up my toe cuticles(not including the usual foot scrub at the bottom). Clean and professional and very knowledgeable!!!  I'm in Albuquerque from New England where I have an excellent nail technician but I needed care while visiting my son and UNM (great school!!) so I hit Yelp to read reviews and  find a professional location where I could get a great mani/pedi and Lanterns had excellent reviews.  It was easy to make an appointment and even change the time at the last minute without attitude!  I was greeted warmly when I popped in by "Q" (quote too) and to my surprise he and David completed my manicure and pedicure at the same time which helped me with my time!! Then I threw a curve and asked for a little nail art  and "Q" listened to me and gave me the exact bright pink delicate flower  with a silver accent on my toe that I had envisioned!  I left SO happy and couldn't wait to write a review that both men and woman could experience this wonderful nail and waxing salon. I was even impressed how the manager, Kimberly (I think) handled phone calls with thoughtfulness, helping clients with appointment times and services. I left happy and only paid $60. I walked in, and only had to wait about 15 minutes which wasn't bad at all for not having an appointment. Staff was very friendly, conversational, and lighthearted. The employee who did my nails gave me recommendations about places to visit while i'm here (i'm visiting) and was very professional and gentle with my nails. LOVE my nails! Ready for the holiday festives now. Very clean and friendly staff. Price was good as well - $50 for my set of ombre and some glitter. Been here twice. First time solely for a pedicure, which was decent. The next time was for a mani/pedi with gel polish for the manicure. Great service as I called ahead to ask the price. It's been a week and the nails still look good. I usually don't trust people to do my nails due to harsh chemicals used for manicures, and that would be my only complaint as far as the mani (my cuticles are very dry). I wouldn't recommend this place because of the products and service. My gel manicure polish was sloppy with left over my skin and cuticles. And the gel the polish that usually last 2 wks minimum, lasted less than a week...poor quality! When i called and spoke with an employee about possibly fixing it, said that was "normal" for gel manicures. I would never come here again. After calling about taking off my acrylics I was informed it would be $5 then asked about getting them polished after. I was told that it would be $8 total for taking them off and the polish. I had gone in and had mentioned to the guy that did my nails that I called beforehand and they told me for removal and polish it would be $8. He agreed to it. During the process he tried to sell me a manicure or try to get me to do gel. I declined and he continued to take off my nails. Once he did them he informed me that it was going to be $16, $8 to take them off $8 and $8 for the polish. I asked him why was it $8 to take them off when you and the lady on the phone said it was $5? He said because I didn't purchase a manicure or gel. I paid $16 plus tax for this uneven, bumpy nail job which I could have done better myself. I hope he needed that extra $8 dollars, go buy a number 4 at Mcdonalds or something. NEVER GO HERE SCAMMERS! I go there all the time for pedicures, manicures and waxing. Everyone is always very friendly and skilled. They did a fantastic job on my bridal manicure, accommodating my complicated design request. Prices are average for the Albuquerque area and it wasn't too loud. This was an amazing place. My boyfriend and I went to get a pedicure. We got there about 8 minutes late but they were totally amazing. I got an ombre set and it was amazing. The young  lady who did it was named Lindsey and she did great. I love the environment! My brother who is a huge basketball fan was cheering with the staff and it was great to be around friendly people.  I also got my eyebrows done and it didn't even hurt. Price was very reasonable. Overall experience: Overpriced with terrible customer service however nails came out decent. $110 for two full set of nails. It was my first time getting acrylic nails and I picked out this place with my Mom because it had great reviews and looked like an overall top quality professional salon. Upon entering we were quickly asked what service we were looking for. I was sitted at an empty table and my Mom was seated to the left and I explained what kind of nails we we’re looking for. I showed a picture to my nail tech of a pretty matte baby blue set of nails; she said they were out of that color. I was a little disappointed because I really wanted that color but went ahead and chose a pretty lavender instead. She started filing my nails and cutting them into shape; I realized too late I didn’t let her know what nail shape I wanted so she just assumed (and didn’t ask me) and made them into a triangle shape. I didn’t want to cause her any trouble, she seemed stressed and maybe a bit annoyed? So we continued. The matte formula was very opaque and doesn’t seem like it is good quality. I think her name was Lindsey and I think she is either the owner or a manager because when people started coming in she instructed them to sit. It was starting to get busy so she sent me over to a young girl to finish a design on my nails. The young girl was sitting on her phone the whole time since we got there and seemed annoyed to be disturbed. My mom previously said she heard two other nail techs teasing her claiming that now she had to stop “relaxing”. There were two others sitting on their phones as well while people waited. When the young girl was doing my nails she also seemed impatient and quickly drew the design. It did not come out as the picture I showed her and on my left hand a bit of the black nail paint smeared (this nail polish also doesn’t seem very great quality). She was also having a conversation with a few others in Vietnamese while doing the design and spoke through her teeth when I casually tried to make conversation. At one point, she said my finger was crooked. At the end my nail set was $55 and my Mom’s $47. I would not return here due to the poor customer service and lack of attention to what the client wants. Definitely not too happy with this place. I went here after doing some searching into what salons had good reviews because I haven't had acrylic nails in a while so I wanted them to be done well. I went in and I was greeted by Lindsay. After picking my color, I requested Lindsay or Tina based on the reviews that I saw. Lindsay said she would take me but there was another girl in front of my but she ended up sending that girl to have someone else do her nails so Lindsay could do mine which I thought was nice. She did the acrylic nice, and took her time. My only complaint was the bad cuticle care. She ended up having Jodie or Josie paint my nails and the paint job is so bad! It's streaky, splotchy, has bubbles, and some parts aren't even painted. Once I went to pay I was extremely shocked by the price. I paid $45 for solid, gel acrylic. I know I could've gone other places for cheaper. I won't be coming back and when I go to another salon I'll ask how much BEFORE getting them done. This is my first time coming here and I love it so much! I will definitely be back especially for the price. And her response "yeah we don't have it?"  If those many colors are missing why not replenish it?!The place is dirty and falling a part. It looks like they got bits and pieces from the salvage yard. So from a bad experience at another salon my friend invited me to come to Lantern. I walked in to make appointment Lindsey help me right away I came back about an hour and a half later and she sat me down to soak off my old nails. I'll told her the other Salon really jacked my fingernails up. I soaked  for about 45 minutes, old nails came off with no pain at all. I decided to get a new set of coffin nails. All the staff are so detailed friendly and funny I love the atmosphere also my nails look awesome this will definitely be my new spot for now on. Read Less
