I was not happy with the set I currently had from another salon and was due for a rebase. I checked the reviews on Famous Nails and decided to go in and was so glad I did! In term of quality nails I think this place is one of the best in abq. Here's a few highlights: 1) great at cuticles- I've never been cut which I am alway paranoid about when I go other places.2) AMAZING at design &precision. Everyone that I have tired there is really good at design especially if you have a picture.3) tons of colors and can do almost any design if you have a pic. I've never had a poor experience here. The staff is friendly and accomodating. They are willing to get you in as a walk in, or schedule you should you prefer that. Their prices are also very reasonable and they have a huge selection of nail colors (especially gels)! Read Less

I got acrylics put on with chroma gel polish (so cute but a little pricy) about a week ago, but I broke one of my nails yesterday :( so I went in and they fixed not only that nail for free, but they revamped my whole manicure, putting on a top coat and filing all of my nails! So nice. Read Less

This place is amazing. Vincent is who did my full set of acrylic and he is great. Normally at nails salons if you show them a picture of something you like, but want to add a statement nail or maybe switch the color, it take a long time for them to understand and they normally still get it wrong. I had no hassle at all telling Vincent what I wanted and he delivered perfectly. He did not use the drill nearly at all and definitely not near my skin or cuticle. He did mostly hand filing. I really hate to give a bad review on this place because  was hoping to be a repeat customer due to the fact that it is so close to where I live, BUT I have to do what I have to do.  I have been to this salon 3 times.  The first time I had a good experience.  Not great, but good.  I entered the salon and got anything but great customer service.  The girl who greeted me seemed annoyed by the fact that she had to get up to deal with me.  Though, once seated, a very nice girl started on my toes and indulged me in great conversation and even helped me pick out my desired nail shape (I was getting a full set.)  Once my toes were done, I got passed on to a different tech and she began on my nails.  During this time, she scolded me for saying sorry about something but ii shrugged it off.  The second time I went in, the owner took care of me.  She did my toes (not helping me very much with my design after  i asked) and  then started on my nails.  Once she was doing my nails, she actually started calling people on her cell phone, barely paying attention to what she was doing.  She kept stopping to call random people and take her earbuds in and out.  That time  was charged $90 because during the whole process she kept pushing gel nails on me over and over again so  finally gave in.  After taking a second look at my nails i realized that she had done a terrible job, which could have been avoided if she would have been paying attention.  This 3rd time, the same girl who had done my nails the first time had me set up to do my toes.  I asked for a neutral matte color and was going to leave the creativity up to her but she wouldn't do t.  I just wanted a neutral colour and some sparkle or something but she didn't care and was getting annoyed at the fact that i wanted her to pick something out.  So I showed her a grey colour and she picked out a color COMPLETELY different from what i had asked for, and kept complanng about the fact that i wanted it matte.  Also, the chair i was in, the massage ddnt work.  We moved to the nail station and it was awkward due to the tension that i had from her pressure of picking out my polish and design.  While here she told me..and ii quote "Your cuticles are dry, you should do something about that."  Totally cold.  This salon has the worst customer service ever.  If I knew  had a potential repeat customer,  i would treat them a lot better than what i was treated.  Never going back.  Sorry, you don't get my $100 every two weeks.  By the way, you guys need to figure out what MATTE means because you have failed me in that department TWICE now.  Matte means NO shine. Really professional staff, clean environment, and comprehensive service. The technition knew current trends and was helpful in making suggestions for the look I wanted. She didn't cut me, burn me with a file or drill. She gave me an amazing massage and my nails look dope af. I've never been happier! I've found my person, her name is Flower, and she is amazing!!! I have gone to this place for years, but I'm starting to think its just out of habit and not because they are great. The past two times I have had Tammy do my nails and she does a nice job but she is so unfriendly. I try to make conversation but she usually ignores me. I don't like how they sneak in charges at every service. The last time I went in for a refill on my acrylic nails they charged me $5 extra dollars for having to file them down. Of course my nails have grown out in two weeks, shouldn't that be assumed in the price? To be fair, I think people love the men who work there, and overhearing them they seem super friendly and nice. So overall comment... not the best but if you're going to go, call ahead and make an appointment with one of the young men. Read Less

I'm not sure how anyone can give less than 5 stars to this salon ... I give it 5 stars all the way! This is the first review I've ever done, but was compelled to rate Famous Nails.  First of all, the employees are the nicest people ... they interact, they're funny, they're classy people.  Most of their clients are repeat. I like the idea of appointments ... and they stay on schedule.  They believe in cleanliness. They use high end products. I get manicures from Kelly ... perfect!!!  Oscar is the best (in the state, region) for nail art... extremely talented. Tammy does the best french acrylic nails (not the typical glue on white tip). I've gotten manicures and pedicures from Vivian and Aaron and are as good as anyone else.  The owner has the best of the best working at her nail salon. The prices are fair and you also get a punch card for $$$ off after 10 visits.  I've been going to this place for several years and a lot of their clients have been there longer than me. I decided to go off on a whim and try this nail salon after seeing good reviews of it on Yelp. I called 4 hours in advance and scheduled an appointment for around 2 pm. I arrived at the scheduled time and I was met by the surprise of waiting an hour and half AFTER the time. People continued to go in front of me, people who didn't have appointments because what the other people needed done was "easier" and "quicker". I literally just needed a rebase and gel polish change. I was extremely irked and I talked to the staff several times, and I was passed from technician to technician without actually getting my nails done. I can only imagine what it would have been like if I had not scheduled an appointment. About a week after this appointment, the gel nail polish began to peel off (which to me just showed that the technician did a lazy job). If you are interested in good service, go elsewhere. Oscar gives the BEST pedicures, ever. He takes his time, and is very creative with his designs. He cares about your experience and makes sure you're happy with your service. Since he is the busiest tech there, I'd recommend calling ahead to make an appointment with him (a week in advance) or you won't get in with him. Really awful experience and would not recommend this salon. There are many choices far better than this. I went on Saturday about 4 pm to get some white tip acrylics and had a younger girl (who was wearing red at the time) do my nails. The entire time she acted as if I was a huge inconvenience to her, stopping to text message or talk on the phone about ordering a boba tea from a friend. I've never seen such unprofessional behavior! She also nicked the side of my nail with the file causing it to bleed slightly which isn't a big deal but she didn't even say anything. She was very rude. The girls around her seemed a bit nicer to their customers so maybe I just got unlucky. The nails themselves look sloppy, bubbly, and the white part is crooked. No lotion or any hint of a hand massage. Also, the whole thing took almost two hours, probably because of her inexperience. For $40+ tip I would hope for a much better experience and result. I will not be back and very disappointed. Wish the owner had said something to this girl as she talked on her phone! Read Less
