Overall pleasant experience. The food was enjoyable and the staff was very polite. If you have kids do not get the apple side. It will be four slivers of a small apple to include the core, just a sad presentation. Went here for dinner. My husband ordered the jambalaya. He said it was very tasty. I ordered the pit roast and, unfortunately, it was tough and the veggies were undercooked. I don't usually send food back but this just was not cooked well. I reordered the turkey melt sandwich which was good. If not for the service, I would rate this experience a '2'. Terrible. Worst manager I have ever seen. Two out of out party of six are leaving without even eating. Sat for 30 minutes before we even had a drink order. I will say the food here is pretty bad. I had the Parmesan Chicken & Shrimp and to be honest it was mediocre at best. My girlfriend had some type of noodles with Salmon and lets just say that it went down hill for her really fast. The broth was super sweet like if they had thrown a cup of sugar in it. Disgusting! She was not able to finish the rest and I tried to finish it for her with no such luck. Once we got home she started throwing up and got a serious case of food poisoning. Usually love this Resturant but today was very disappointed. Sat out side because of reported 30 minute wait for inside table. Seemed like half of tables in many sections were empty during our entire time there. Outside tables were dirty. The overhangs for shade were secured with duct tape to the building and one snapped off during our meal. Menus were taped together. Barbecue ribs I ordered came without barbecue sauce. WTF. Took my son to bathroom and garbages were overflowing at the start of dinnertime dining. Just seemed like what is usually a popular place  is not being maintained to the standard it should be. We stopped here during Wine Wednesday. All glasses of wine were $5 which was a pleasant surprise. The service by Racquel was really good. Flavors were good on my ahi salad and my husbands yakisoba although for NM maybe overpriced. (If pricing was similar in Californian I'd say the cost was fantastic). They were able to accommodate our 4 year olds request for "orange sauce" on his noodles by mixing marinara and alfredo in the kitchen which made my life better! Read Less

Haven't been here in a while but was happy to return. Our server was super busy but made sure we were happy and was super friendly. In total we got a soup and sand which combo and the tomato soup and cod sand which were super tasty. The street tacos we were able to mix and match and they were super filling! We also tried the Saturday brunch and the French toast and breakfast potatoes were amazing! This is a great place for a diverse menu. The decor is offers a safari uniqueness, but it can get lost in the crowd. This place can get really busy and loud! A shadow of its former self. Presentation of the food was less than average. I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken and the flavor started off good but as I ate more the teriyaki just overpowers the dish. The sauce is too strong and coats your entire mouth where I becomes irritating. Also ordered the avocado spinach dip and it looked less than appetizing and tasted it. It's very loud, hard to hear each other. If you have an MSG sensitivity, there is not much you can eat as they put MSG is most of their food. For being located in such a popping vibrant part of town this place was DEAD. Yeah it's Sunday night but we were probably one of three tables in the whole place.The decor seems very outdated early 2000's pier one safari decor.Now the menu...weird. Usually when I see menus with this great variety I get nervous. American, Asian and a bunch of other completely random types of food are on this menu, which appears to have absolutely nothing to do with the decor. Which can be okay if the food is amazing. But it was average.And elephant bar, I can tell you your kitchen staff does not care. Your waitstaff is good, our waiter was friendly and attentive. How can I tell your kitchen staff doesn't care? By the presentation and assembly of our food. If I am going to pay 15$ for a sandwich I shouldn't have to cut up my own avocado that was slapped onto my hardly toasted extra greasy toasted bread. Also if your menu lists a sauce as a "dipping sauce" that implies action, no dipping sauce on my plate, but spread on my sandwich. The food wasn't anything memorable. So glad we have one of these restaurants in New Mexico. Cuts through the mundane Green Chile over saturation. We enjoy the menus wide variety that is paired with excellent service. It is truly hard to get good service in Albuquerque and Elephant bar has customer service down.My favorites are the Misoyaki Salmon that really bring the exotic flavors to this region and the Chicken Marsala that brings out the Italian in my wife. Both of these amazing dishes were recommended to us by our favorite server Katherine a few months ago and we continue to enjoy them on a regular basis. They actually open the door for you which is rare in this state at restaurants. All around great atmosphere and we enjoy it. Read Less

I went to Elephant Bar on a recent evening with a party, so I'll preface this review by saying that I was with a fairly large group. However, this in mind, I still thought the service rather disappointing. We had a reservation but the staff still seemed to be struggling to put together tables to make a space for us. Then, it took a very long time for our orders to be taken, and the staff were rarely seen throughout the time we were there.As for the food, it was good, but a little disappointing for the price. Good, but not remarkable, and there are a lot of options for similar food at lower prices outside of the Uptown class distortion zone. Part of the problem here is probably that Elephant Bar's menu is not particularly focused, with a somewhat random arrangement of dishes from various cuisines... I've been to Elephant Bar and Restaurant a few times before several years back with friends from work, and I wasn't impressed or non-impressed. So when a group of friends wanted to go today, I was okay with it. I am now a vegetarian (wasn't before), so my options were limited. I went ahead and ordered the nachos as a meal. It was supposed to  have beans and cheese, but they either decided to skimp on the beans and cheese, or they decided to put, maybe a tablespoon of each for the entire plate of nachos. Not each chip, the entire plate. I was searching for the beans, and I have no idea what type of cheese it was since I received so little of it. I didn't eat much of my meal since it wasn't anything special at all. It was like eating chips with guacamole and sour cream on top and not much else (1/4 cup of each). As I was walking out, I got a little jealous of a man who looked like he ordered the same nachos, but his actually had food on his. Event: Spontaneous Friday night large group dinner (all from out of town) Venue: Great lighting and atmosphere in the bar area. Our group grabbed drinks while we waited for a table (very crowded) and the restaurant is well maintained/taken care of. Service: We discovered an out door patio that was empty with heaters and inquired about it at the bar. The patio was open seating and had nobody out there, so we snatched 5 tables along the heaters after only 10mins. This worked very well because we were then served almost immediately as our remaining party arrived. This was not offered to us at the start (75min wait). The server was a bit overwhelmed, but drinks came at a reasonable interval for the amount of customers that evening. There were no issues with anyone's food and everything came out together which was extremely surprising! We couldn't have been happier with that. Value: SIGN UP FOR THE REWARDS. You'll get a free appetizer. It's not hard here to spend $30-$50 with drinks, appetizers and a meal. Prices were reasonable, but arnt to write home about. Stopped here for lunch during a day of shopping in Uptown.  The menu is a blend of asian, Mexican, and American fare.  I heard fusion when friends told me about this place but I didn't see much fusing.  They had just opened so it was not busy.  Our waitress was great and expedient.  I ordered a triple smoked burger with sweet potato fries and my mother-in-law ordered some shrimp noodles.  The food was good but nothing too memorable.  There are some other menu items I would like to try in the future if ever I return: which is not out of the question.  The safari theme is interesting and different but not sure how it fit with the cuisine.  I can see this place being a night time restaurant.  Dark and mysterious ambiance. Great customer service. We had a party of 15. One server was dedicated to everyone and did a fantastic job. Numerous appetizers, plenty of drinks and everyone's main course came out the way they ordered it. There was a decent selection of craft beers available. The dining areas were clean and well kept. The bathroom was also very clean. I went over to the bar to order a drink before our main course and the separate bar area was very nice. It's off to the side and circles around with bar stools and tables available all the way around. Everyone seemed really nice. One word, SKIP!I met a friend for drinks on a Friday night, around 5, pretty empty but still couldn't get decent service. I ordered several glasses of wine only be told they were out of all of them. That happens, it shouldn't but it does, but not the 15 minutes in between each time waiting for the waitress who could care less. Finally I said forget it I don't want to wait any more. We tried some of the appetizers and they were equally disappointing. Coconut shrimp skewers were ok, the potato skins were grease boats and the sushi was forgettable.The whole bar set up is very uncomfortable. The seating is backless, couches are short and uncomfortable. When it started to get crowded it was difficult to get out from the tables as they are close together. Next, my pet peeve is lighting, it can make a mediocre place seem less mediocre. The lighting here made me feel as if it was time to go and that's what we did. Read Less

Lots of dreary reviews here, but I have to say, aside from the fact that I had to park in China to pick up my order, Judy surprised me with above and beyond customer service, with such joy and enthusiasm, that I must make the time to go on their website and fill out the survey to properly acknowledge her, and considering that I already threw my receipt away with the survey information, which means I'll have to dig through the trash to get it out, that's saying a lot here folks . It went down like this:I'm making my way during lunch time traffic to Coronado Shopping Center, which I honestly haven't been too in ages, to make an exchange at H&M. Just before making my way inside, I phoned in a to-go order to Elephant Bar. Now, I probably wouldn't have chosen Elephant Bar as the restaurant of choice to bring home surprise lunch for my hubs, especially considering the lackluster reviews it had been receiving, but my in-laws seem to enjoy the fish n chips there, and my husband loves fish n chips, and I had just received a $10 gift certificate from Yiftee as a thank you for purchasing a previous gift certificate (for said in laws as an anniversary gift). So I figured, hey, it's a gamble, but I'm a risk taker, why not roll the dice and see how it goes. Judy took my order over the phone with such genuine exuberance, that it sincerely transitioned me from my quasi-grumplestiltskin state (gran turismo style traffic can do that to ya, ya know?) to pleasantly relaxed, and then suddenly re-calibrated, ready to take on operation H&M exchange and move on to the"find a parking spot in Uptown" mission that lie ahead of me. Upon arrival, Judy was right there to welcome me, with such authentic kindness, a sincere smile, and order in hand. She mentioned that she didn't see my phone number in the rewards program database, and if I were interested in signing up today, that I could take home an appetizer right now on the spot, and proceeded to explain the benefits. Well, Judy, let's make that happen, shall we? Would I have considered signing up for a rewards program for a place that received so many somber reviews were it not for Judy? No. I daresay that I would not have been interested whatsoever. But if Judy's working, then I'll be back to give it a whirl.Judy should be running that joint. We need a million more Judys. Elephant Bar, call a corporate meeting, have Judy lead the sesh, and figure out what you need to do to get the rest of your reviews back on point.As for the fish n chips, hey, they hit the spot. And I took home the chicken lettuce wraps, per Judy's suggestion of course, (chopped chicken · water chestnuts · toasted coconut flakes· roasted cashews · tender lettuce · orange cilantro sauce · thai peanut sauce) it was delicious. Great drinks, crappy food. I have to give Elephant Bar credit for trying but when everyone else at Uptown is doing Happy Hour way better, I need to let y'all know. Bailey was a great server, I just can't take away from that at all. We ordered a round of drinks and that was certainly the best piña colada I've had in a long time. I can only speak to the drinks but my wife and I were very pleased passing through. The bar environment was a cute circular wraparound with great service and very tasty concoctions and large portions. See our picture for the size of the drinks.
