It amazes me to see some of the negative reviews written about Jenny and her staff. I have to say I do not believe we are getting the whole story from some of the reviewers and I believe some of them are in response to a staff member who left after blatantly disregarding the salon's ethics code. Jenny and her staff are always the epitome of professional and are always accommodating. I have been going to Jenny for several years and was one of her first clients when she opened her own place. Definitely a great place to get your nails done. I got there at 3 with no appointment and they fit me in even though they were definitely busy. The young man who did my nails was great. My toes look fantastic and my feet feel amazing! The manicure hurt a little but that was more to do with my extremely sensitive cuticles than his technique. I plan on visiting this place again! I came here because of the reviews on yelp. I had done my research and knew this place was pricier than others. I received a mani/pedi. My nails are already chipped and it's only been two days. Every aspect of the massage (legs and hands) were subpar. A suggestion would be for them to ask what pressure the client likes. I shouldn't have to say "harder!" The whole reason I chose the intro to nuskin pedicure was because that one offered a massage as opposed to the express. (When I checked in on yelp, we had just started the pedicure.) The woman was polite, she made conversation with me throughout, but honestly- when it comes to mani/pedis, I don't want to chit chat. Just let me relax please, that's why I'm spending all this money. Their massage chairs are absolutely wonderful, you can tell they invested their money there. That part was enjoyable. They also use tub liners for the pedicure. I wonder about having a dog inside their salon, I love puppies- just wondering about the hygienic aspect of that.They do honor a yelp 10% off check in discount, that was nice. I decided on three stars because I've paid $30 for a regular mani/pedi at a location across town where the massages were way better, and my nails lasted three weeks. Some of the worst service I've ever had. They obviously don't respect their appointments as they let walk-ins go first. They actually made my hands bleed around the cuticles which was painful. When I called and scheduled the appointment, I told them I wanted to get the white tipped nails. I was fine with the price they gave. Once I got there I was highly disappointed. Not only does their customer service suck, but I heard them bad mouthing previous customers! They obviously don't care about speaking English in front of their customers as a sign of respect. As I watched the walk-ins get service and I sat there with my hands bleeding, I decided to walk out. The facility is nicely designed and laid out. It's clean and appears sanitary. Although there is so much more that goes into a review these days! So let's get started! My schedule changed and my current nail lady takes the same day off as me, so I decided to venture out and try new places. After yelping nail salons in Albuquerque I came across this salon that currently holds a 5 star rating with a sufficient amount of reviews, and decided to give it a shot. Upon arrival I was greeted  appropriately, I sat to wait and the owner was carrying on with a client about a classmate that had committed sucicide(vibe killer). I was taken back for my pedicure. Wait seemed to be minimal. Toa did my pedicure and it went off seamlessly(good job). Then I was taken back to the front for my manicure. I wanted an overlay with hombre powder. The owners mother started with me, I was asked how I heard about the place and specified Yelp, which just lead to a very to toxic involuntary submission of bad mouthing a previous employee, and previous client. Another set of  clients came through the door and asked for pedicures, which resulted in me being transferred and passed off to another nail technician. I asked about nail art, and gave room for creativity beacuse I didnt have anything specific in mind. The owner was asked by her father to address this for me, another sister came through the door and was asked to handle it, she asked what I wanted after repeating for the third time, she acted annoyed and deferred it back to the owner with attitude toward me. At which point I stood up and left! Just so we are clear I spent 2.5 hours there, and I left all kinds of messed up... my fingers hurt(maybe my fault, because I chose the overlay and not a new set), I feel extremely stressed out from all the negative energy, nobody cares to hear about suicide and decrental employees or loyal to their technician customers that are leaving you less than satisfactory reviews! I am paying for my experience which is not cheap btw and I've had better, more enjoyable  experiences at the dentist. There are plenty of salons that can provide this 'service', I am paying for the experience! Also it is the repeat customer that makes a business such as this succeed or fail, you may want to acknowledge that if you want your '5 year plan' to be a success! This by far is my favorite nail salon/day spa. I have been there 3 different times for 3 different services and have had an amazing experience each and every time!!! Vivian did my rebase and design today and it was amazing. The girls are fun friendly and such a joy to visit with. The salon/day spa is always clean and never smells. I really like going to this salon, however last time my nails were not shaped well at all and they all popped off on their own in 10 days. That's the least amount of time I have ever had my acrylics last. I will continue to come for pedicures and regular manicures but it wasn't worth what I spent for only 10 days of acrylics. Read Less

I loved coming here. From living in Miami for 16 years, coming to a new city can be a bit scary when it comes to your nails. I have to say I had really high hopes for this place based on all the reviews they were getting. I'm pretty disappointed, I got a set of acrylic's with a sparkling pink. I asked that they be cut on the shorter side, the lady who was working on my nails cut the first one and showed me the length with a few modifications I was happy with the length and didn't think of it again. I had my sister with me who had been finished for least 30 minutes already so I didn't really look a...t them, we just paid and left. However looking at them later I realized that the lengths didn't match at all. The pink doesn't go all the way down the sides on all the nails just some of them. I called immediately and asked if they could give me a discount or something for next time, they told me all they could do for me was fix the issue however that didn't work for me since I had friends coming over in 30 minutes and work the rest of the week. When I told this to the manager she proceeded to give me attitude and said there was nothing else they could do and that I basically had to figure it out myself. I can't recommend this salon high enough! This clean, professional and friendly establishment gets great reviews for a good reason. Erica was fabulous and gave me such a SUPER relaxing pedicure, and JImmy did my nails in an ombre style that I love! What an artist! I went there because of the reviews and sadly they all seemed wrong. I asked for matted white, and a rebase. I got the color and debase but the paint dried wrong with wrinkles in it, instead of redoung the paint he just tried to shave off the parts that dried wrong. Now two days after all the filing 2 of my nails have cracked off. One after scratching my leg. And one after pulling my waistband. I don't recommend going here. Read Less

I can say with confidence that Athena Day Spa is the best nail salon in the ABQ/Rio Rancho area! I have been to various salons in both Albuquerque and Rio Rancho. Other salons usually rush to get the job done and then don't do a great job either. My manicurist, Trinity, took her time on my nails. We enjoyed excellent conversation while she explained all of the different nail options to me. I went with the dip powder and gel polish. She did a beautiful ombre french tip with glitter. She was kind and thorough, making sure everything was to my liking. When I apologized for being picky, she made me feel at ease by insisting I wasn't, and that I just know what I liked. This place is amazing! I've been looking for a place like this for a long time! Their spa treatment pedi's are to die for. As well as it is extremely clean, color organized (my OCD self loves) and very humble place. Two sisters own it and they are very sweet and welcoming, and always coming up with new nail designs. I've been in several times and have never left disappointed! For the longest time I was looking for a new nail salon that could do styles and designs that met my style but no one seemed to be able to, until I came on Yelp and found Athenas! It is the hidden gem of nail salons that is conveniently close to both my house and my workplace. The prices are surprisingly cheap for the work that they do and they give MUST HAVE deals! And not only is the nail art fabulous but so is the atmosphere. It's very laid back, clean and the staff there is amazing! I have never had such a wonderful conversation with anyone doing my nails ever as I did at athenas! I absolutely LOVED my experience at Athena Day Spa! Jennifer was so kind and welcoming, and Erica did my friends nails, and she was equally as wonderful! They were friendly and so much fun! As far as my nails go, I love them and have received so many compliments and it's only day two of having them done! I showed her a photo from Pinterest, and my nails look exactly like it! She was honest about what she could do design wise which is a bonus! I love that they use essential oils, and you get to pick the one in your pedicure! They also have most of their normal nail polish colors that match their gel polishes which is awesome if you don't want gel on your toes and fingers, but want to match! I also love how clean it was! Erica gave me the best gel manicure and signature pedicure I've ever gotten in Albuquerque and I've tried every top rated nail salon! She took her time, was thorough and still got me finished in under 2 hours! The spa is clean, fresh, new and the polishes were top notch! I went here after a recommendation from a girlfriend, and I am so glad I went! Its amazing! Everything is so clean - they use brand new or sterilized tools for each customer and the foot tubs are lined with a new plastic liner each time. I followed my favorite manicurist Jenny from her previous salon. This new spa near Cottonwood Mall is a little hard to find, not visible from the major street, Coors, it's on the back/east side of the shopping center. Parking is easy and plentiful. The nail salon is tastefully decorated, especially the pedicures area in the back 1/3 of the shop. My first visit was to check out the new spa, I only had a previous gel manicure removed. Jenny did a great job, as always. She removed the gel polish, cut and shaped my nails, then buffed them, all for $10. If looking for a good manicure and/or pedicure on Albuquerque's west side, definitely give the Athena salon a try. Read Less
