I normally come here because they are conveniently located near my workplace. They are clean and for a $9 mani, what more can you ask for. I usually come here during a lunch break. I asked if they did acrylic nails they said no they do cystal so i said OK i came have them a try since they took card, when they were done i was unhappy with the results they looked like something a unprofessional done and i could of paid $20 somewhere for the same style and been done faster . Went there Thursday to get my nails done...had gel coat put on. It was horrible, lumpy and it started peeling the next day. Went back on Saturday to get it fixed only to be biting by bed bugs. The owner saw me scratching and looked at the bites and sprayed my arm with alcohol and continued to mess up my nails even more. I got up and left and went somewhere else to have them redone. This has been my favorite mani and pedi place for the past 4 yrs. staff is professional, friendly and experience. I can relax and get a chair massage while getting my nails done. They are clean and keep their equipment sanitize. I get nice compliments on the colors i choose. Read Less

I didn't have a good first (and last) experience here. My daughter and I were looking for a good nail home and based on the Yelp comments we decided to go here.I will not be returning. I asked for an acrylic fill in and more than half way through my first hand, the young lady says, "you did want Crystal Nail right?" I said No, I wanted an acrylic fill in but she was already half way through so I went with it. Bad idea. I thought the technique was off but I just thought maybe they did things differently especially after seeing that everything was manual. Within ONE week my nails were chipping! I was super pissed. The paraffin is a good idea but not so much for me because it got on my sleeves in the process.For me this place is a bit pricey. I was upset about paying so much and my nails chipping within a week. They do a pretty good job with the pedicures however I can not get my nails done there anymore. I went in on Saturday for a filling on my uv gel manicure and today is Wednesday and my nails look like I've had them done for a month. They're clipped, some nails look good while others don't. The uv gel is coming up from my nail to the point where if I put my fingers in my hair, my hair is getting suck in the gel part of my nails. Read Less

New owners, but love my nails just the same. 3rd time back here and I'm very pleased. Cindy handles her business with my nails. And it does not smell like an acrylic factory when you walk in like most of the other places downtown Newark.  My only issue is they charge for everything. This was my first pedicure ever...  I enjoyed the pampering thoroughly...  unfortunately my nail techs name escapes me, but all in all it was a fabulous and most relaxing experience.  Pls make sure u choose the massage option on the pedicure chairs...  a really relaxing and nice experience. Worst Nail Salon. As mentioned in other reviews, the job was very messy. My nails chipped / one broke off within ONE day. It was extremely disappointing to get comments that my nails looked horrible. Great little place on Halsey street. Used to live fairly close, gave it a shot once with a friend and we had a great experience. They offer wifi and massage chairs. Staff is very friendly and they work quickly while stillDoing a great job. I would give it 5 stars but I was a little peeved about the fact that I made an appointment but still had to wait a bit to be serviced. Other than that clean place,Comfortable, and good jobs done. ZERO STARS IF I COULD.The lady who did my pedicure did fine. However for my nails. HOLY CRAP I wish I never stepped foot in here. I asked for a fill with cuticle trim. With fills you're suppose to cover as much nail bed as possible. SHE LEFT A GOOD 1cm from the crystal powder and my cuticle. Let's also remember when you push my cuticle back to trim it will look like 1.5cm space. I tried to tell her and she only did well on ONE finger. And then she tried to tell me it's because it's powder. I AM LICENSED IN 4 STATES FOR ACRYLIC AND CRYSTAL. I never seen such a shotty job. Even if I left the powder thing go. WISH I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS Worst place ever went there for my nails to be crystal wrapped by the time i got home 2 of the nails were chipped in the corners.The next morning after washing one more nail chipped and  one came completly off cracking my real nail. So not even two days later  and $35 I have 4 of my real nails that are chipped and exposed.On my way to a different salon Will never ever go back there. Over Priced - Dirty Nail Salon - Horrible Nails!!!DO NOT GO HERE!!!I went in for a simple crystal wrap with gel nail polish. Cindy came to help me and insisted that I do the UV gel which was $50.00. I told her that I would rather do the crystal with gel nail polish for $40 since it was CHEAPER, keyword - CHEAPER!!!!!And this is when it all went downhill!!!1. The woman Cindy who did my nails painted one nail at a time and had me place my hand inside of the gel light machine. She did one nail at a time and kept having me place my hand under the light which I think was the worst method that I've ever seen.2. The gel light machine that they had me place my hands into were DISGUSTING. They were old and there was tons of stuff stuck to the inside of the machine where my hands had to be placed.3. The nail job was AWFUL. I had her do a light blue glitter color - she did two coats, some of the nails were a darker shade than others so I had to tell her to do another coat on certain nails so that they matched.4. So my total comes out to $70.00!!! My jaw literally dropped to the floor. I knew it had to be a mistake. I asked her what happened to the $40 for the crystal nails that she mentioned, she said that it was $40 for the crystal and an ADDITIONAL $25 for any color gel nail polish. WHAT????? I told this woman that I wanted the less expensive $40 crystal wrap, why would I want to pay $70.00????? She said that the color gel was AN ADDITIONAL $25 on top of the $40 for the crystal. After telling her that I didn't have enough money, I asked to see a manager, she went to the back and came back and said "I am the manager" so I'm not sure what she went to the back for if she is the manager. WORST service I have EVER received at a nail salon. Usually I don't leave bad reviews because everyone makes mistakes and has off days, but this place has systemic issues due to rudeness of the management and terrible training of their staff. The owners are an older Asian couple, and while the husband works the cash register, the wife does nails. The husband was polite enough, if not a little pushy with the hard sells. The wife on the other hand was clearly shooting me dirty looks for brining a friend along for company who didn't want her nails done (The salon was nearly empty and she wasn't taking up any otherwise useful space or even talking). After stripping my old manicure, the girl doing my nails just stopped and stated my bill out loud. I sat there confused for a moment about what she meant, until I asked if she wanted me to pay her before she started? She awkwardly looked at the owner and nodded yes. Now, I'm not from around this area, but I have been to other nail salons and NEVER have I paid for services BEFORE they're given! So I just shrugged and paid, thinking it was an odd management quirk. The girl doing my nails barely spoke English, which usually isn't an issue at all, but she literally could not understand that I wanted **parallel** lines on the design- in fact she had never done the design before despite it being picked from a pre-selected set of designs that the shop provided... in the end I just gave up my useless miming and let her do what she pleased. In the end I walked up to the register to pay the extra $5 which I owed for the design, and instead of handing me the bill politely, the wife yelled at the husband across the shop that I still owed $5 before I left, and he hurried to the front to collect it from me. I'm honestly shocked- I've never received this type of treatment, and usually tip very well, but this time I settled the bill and walked out. NEVER EVER GO TO THIS SALON! I got my nails done there last Friday, September 2 2016 and as of today September 10 2016 4 of the nails are broken. Not only did I have to wait 25 minutes for someone to start my nails once I got there, the woman then took 2 and half hours to do my nails, that's not including the time is took to do the pedicure. Excellent work. I usually go to a spot in West Orange, but I decided to give somewhere else a go. This place was the highest rated in my area, so I crossed my fingers and gave it a shot. Glad I did! I arrived around 11a and was seated immediately. Maricella was wonderful! I just went in to have my gel polish changed, I like a French mani with black tips--simple, clean, classy. She worked quickly and thoroughly, and made my first experience there quite nice. I thought she actually did a better job than my previous set...I hadn't realized how thick the polish was laid on before. I am hoping to see this set last at least the two weeks advertised, the last set barely made it a week (maybe I should wear gloves to wash dishes?) I am so used to constantly correcting technicians; I was amazed to be able to sit back and just relax. The space is clean and the staff is friendly and professional. This review is about the last experience I had here in October. I came in to get a gel manicure done and I do not know what the technicians name was but she was an older Asian woman (not the owners wife) and she was TERRIBLE. First off she would do something on one hand and then the other , then go back and repeat it on just one hand (for example use acetone to clean the nails off then go back and do it again but only on the other hand or buffing my nails). When I pointed it out to her that she had done it again she just smiled at me, I'm assuming because of the language barrier or maybe age? I'm not trying to be mean by assuming that but it legitimately seemed as though she would forget what work she did on each hands and maybe that's why she would repeat her work. I don't know Anyway, then when she went to paint the gel on my nails she insisted to paint one finger on each hand at a time. Meaning she would paint my index finger on the left hand, then put that hand in the UV light, paint my right hands index finger, then switch hands and middle finger. She was painfully slow and this switching made things even worse. I didn't want to keep my hands in the UV light longer than necessary so I told her I didn't want to do it like that, at which she said no. I should have insisted they do it the way I wanted but I didn't feel like pushing it because they were very adamant that "it is better" (it's not). I feel like even if you prefer a certain way or think it is better you should still listen to a customer if she prefers a different method. UV light exposure is not a good thing, when getting gel nails everyone emphasizes that you should limit exposure however you can. I don't know why this place believes it's better to do it one finger at a time.The manicure itself was terrible. She didn't cut my cuticles poorly or cause me to bleed or anything but the color was SO uneven. For example some parts were matte some parts were glossy, and the edges were all different. It looked like my 10 year old cousin had painted my nails and worst of all it was gel and dark (not to mention I had my hand in UV light for over 10 minutes) so it was stuck. I tried showing her what was wrong and asking her to fix it but she just looked at it and would say "looks nice".When she finally finished she had taken 50 minutes and I was fuming. I think the manager could tell I wasn't happy bc she came up to me after I paid and asked to see my nails, glanced at them and said "looks so pretty" to which I forcibly said "NO this looks terrible it is the worse manicure I have ever gotten in my life". Just for the record I NEVER speak to people like this but I was so mad that they were charging me and that I was now running late to the formal event I needed to go to that night ( and also had TERRIBLE looking nails). The manager responded by saying sit we will fix it for you but I told her I was late and needed to go.Fast forward to the next morning I walked in and the manager new exactly why I was there. She sat me down with a different technician and told her to buff out the top coat and put one more coat and UV light it. The technician spent 10 minutes looking at my nails trying to figure out what the hell had happened and speaking to the technician next to her about what to do. She told me she recommended taking it all off, and redoing the entire thing to which I said yes please do it. But when the manager saw us doing that she said no came over and showed the technician what she meant when she said to buff and then reapply. I wanted to take it all off but once again the manager said no. She didn't explain why but assuming it would damage my nails more if I took off the gel or something ( I don't know because she never explained) ? I went along with it, although I think I would have been much happier to just remove the whole thing.The technician who fixed my nails was really nice so I ended up tipping her, but that was my last time at this nail salon. Even after "fixing" my nails it still looked bad. They really should have refunded me the money they charged.A few weeks later I was getting the gel taken off in NYC and the technician asked me where I had gotten my nails done because they had done such an awful job. I say that to prove that it wasn't just me who thought the manicure was bad. Even my guy friends who don't understand a thing about nails asked my why my nails looked so weird. I live in Newark and it is INFINITELY more convenient for me to get my nails done here but I absolutely refuse to ever set foot in this place again. Read Less

Yes it's clean but not only did they take 3 and a half hours to do my tips they put clear polish on then got mad that I wanted a color. I have been coming here for 4 years. I get my nails, feet, and eyebrows done and I am always satisfied. I made the mistake of getting a full set at a salon close to home b/c I was tired from working a long shift and wanted something convenient and I hated them. Today, Cindy fixed the thickness and weird shape and my hands look beautiful! I will never venture away from here ever again and I can't thank Cindy enough for giving me such beautiful nails. I've gotten my nails done here so many times I can't recall a number. From manicures to pedicures everyone is great! In my opinion Cindy is the best in it comes to doing nail enhancements. But on this particular visit I wanted to get my brows waxed. I was extremely hesitant because in the past I've had bad experiences. I'm so glad I took a chance & let Sue do my brows! She was extremely attentive & took her time! Now my brows were in horrible condition but she managed to use her magic & keep them defined & thick! I will definitely be coming to her again! Read Less
