I've been coming to nail loft for years however recently I've had THREE negative experiences here. I love the aesthetic and it's convenient location for me, however I'm not sure what formulas of polish they're using now but I've had my gel manicure color fade. First time in January I got a pink and next day it faded to a yellow (didn't use any chemicals or eat anything with my hands) you can DRASTICALLY see the color change in the picture. Second time me and my friend came last Saturday and my light purple gel manicure is fading in certain spots to a white color I circled it in the pics but it's hard to tell. My friend got a dark purple and hers is actually becoming darker and more brown in spots. Sorry it's hard to tell in pics but it's incredibly annoying that this is happening. For a person who was never big on nail salons, I came across this place and now I find myself a "regular" at this salon. The atmosphere of the salon is beautiful. I could tell the owner put a lot of work into beautifying the place and giving it a European style interior. The salon interior itself is modernized and resembles a penthouse, with a view overlooking a part of Manhattan's skyline. The girls who do the nails are very sweet and always do a great job. I've recommended this place to many of my friends and they've all been more than satisfied with their results. I always have a pleasant experience here! This shop is clean, relaxing and a perfect getaway for some mommy self care. They're always patient if i ask for designs and they always deliver exactly what I want.  And I love the price point. This place is absolutely ridiculous. While they do an amazing job in terms of nails and the salon itself is beautiful, the customer service factor is literally at a 0. They are very rude and don't keep track of appointments at all. Twice, I made an appointment to get a manicure and the first time I was told that they did not have any technicians that would be able to do a design I requested that they had posted on their own Instagram page by one of their own technicians. The receptionist told me that I should book the actual technician who did the design and she would definitely be able to do it for me. I understood and did exactly that. I booked the appointment with the particular nail tech a week in advance. When I got there, the receptionist didn't even look for my appointment in the system and told me to pick my color and sit with a random nail technician. When I asked for the design, she told me she could not do it. The particular technician who actually did the design originally refused to take me although I booked the appointment with her. She said she was going home, put her coat on and walked away from me. I would also like to mention that although I came to my appointment on time, the nail technician who was supposed to do my nails was actually doing the nails of the receptionist instead before she got up to go home. I don't think that I have every seen more unprofessional customer service. As a manager of a local business in downtown Jersey City, I'm disgusted by this kind of service. I've been getting my gel manicure with Paz and I absolutely love her work! She is excellent and so sweet. Pedicure are enjoyable as well. I'm used to a little more massage but it's okay because they are very clean and use new tools on every client. Also, the pedi massage chairs are so comfortable. I love the atmosphere of this salon. I stopped in to get my eyebrows done last Thursday. I wasn't sure if they could squeeze me in 30 minutes before closing, but I lucked out! Next time I'm in need of a manicure, I'll be sure to drop by. I was really happy with my experience and how my eyebrows turned out. However, I would definitely recommend that their front desk person brush up on her customer service.The interior is bright and spacious with lots of clean lines. From metallic wallpaper to a large chandelier overhead, this space is nothing but modern and luxe. For an old school Jersey City girl like me, I couldn't help but think, "Where am I?" Lol.I was immediately taken into a side room just across from the nail tables. Sadly, I can't remember the name of the woman who did my eyebrows. She did a really good job, and I would definitely come back for her again. I told her that I didn't want any shaping, just a nice clean up. Despite that description, I've occasionally had other people over do it and leave me with much thinner brows than I normally like. She also asked permission to trim my brows, which rarely ever happens. She also didn't go overboard with the trimming. Best of all, they're very clean, which can't be said for some of the other nail-waxing places on Central.Although they're a tad bit more expensive ($10) compared to other places on Central Ave., I certainly don't mind paying more since they have stripless wax, which makes it way less painful. I also find that it's a lot cleaner because it doesn't leave behind any sticky, wax-y residue on my face. Overall, I had a very good experience at The Nail Loft and would definitely come back again. However, I found the young woman at the front desk to be a tad bit unfriendly. If this location wants to stand out ahead of its competitors, I would definitely recommend that they have their front desk person work on her customer service. Out of all the nail salon I've tried in Jersey City in the 10 years I've been doing my nails, this place is by far the best. Love that it's by appointments. They remind you through email and text about your appointment. Every time I arrive for my appointment, I'm greeted by the receptionist, then I pick out my color and Oriana is ready for me. Love the way she does my nails. They look and feel natural. The pedicures are not rushed like in other salons. The receptionists are always willing to help to find a color or answer any questions. I've been to Oriana about 4 times and love her. She takes her time and if you have a problem she's is willing to fix the problem. This place also feels relaxing. I also like that its very clean. A hidden luxury nail salon in the least expected location. If you live near this area you should definitely try it out! My favorite nail technician is Juana for pedicures. I don't get manicures that often. Juana takes her time and makes sure she gets rid of all ingrown Nails as well as feet cuticles. She gives you advice on how to take care of your feet. I am new to Jersey City and was looking for a go-to nail place to get my tri-weekly gel manicure. After looking at their well made website and pictures of the salon online, I thought I had found a perfect place to go. The nail loft is extremely well decorated and has a parking lot for customers. These are the only two positives. My friend and I made appointments Monday morning to come in the afternoon. Once we got there and picked our colors, we waited on the couch. I started my manicure just a little after our appointment time, but my friend waited about 15 minutes. By the time I was finishing up, she was just getting polish on her fingers. This was even with my manicurist texting after painting every other nail. After waiting another fifteen minutes for my friend to finish up, we were finally able to pay. This salon charges $10 more than my previous salon Haddonfield, NJ, but I figured all of this would be worth it because at the end of the day, theres only one thing that matters -- how long the nails last.One of my nails chipped the very next day and today, only a week later, four are chipped with the polish pulling up off of the nail. All of the chips are at the very top and the polish feels really thin on my nails, like a regular polish manicure would. I got a gel OPI (which I have been getting for years) and it never feels like this. so either the polish is washed down with acetone, or they use extremely thin layers. Either way, I cant wash my hair without the cringing feeling of the strands running in between the space between the polish and my finger nails so it's safe to say I will going elsewhere for all of my mani/pedi needs. First time ever to The Nail Loft and is so pretty inside! Oriana did my gel mani and pedi. Overall I would give her a 3.5/4 star. I felt she rushed BUT she shaped my nails well and I'm a perfectionist when it comes to that. The paint job was a tad bit sloppy. She cleaned majority of it up but mostly clear polish ran over on the sides and when you pick with it causes your nails to chip/peel with the gel. But overall I love my nails and feet. Read Less

Thought this place was great when it opened. A beautifully decorated nail s salon. I have been there a few times and was impressed by the friendly service overall a nice place. On this visit I was looking around as I received my manicure and was appalled by the lack of sanitary standards. Just look at all the lotions, jars, lamps and you'll see what I mean. The place is absolutely filthy. If the staff spent less time on their phones  and picked up a rag and cleans their station perhaps this would be the case. Amazing job! Been looking for a good place. Beautiful place. I've been to so many salons and nothing compares. The prices are a little higher than most salons but it's so worth it. The only thing that I didn't like is they charge for every little thing including the shape of the nail (coffin shape is + $5). Overall great place. Even has parking. I've been doing my nails at the nail loft for a year now and it's been mostly good. Just like many places it has it's pros and cons.Pros: Nicely decorated, clean, spacious. Has online booking and everyone is very nice. Wide variety of colors (gel and regular polish). They also have girls who do threading. They offer you something to drink. When you go with the right people you will be pleased. Rosa and Paz do good designs and good pedicures. Cons: half of the girls have literally told me they are not capable of doing a simple design on my nails.I've waited long sometimes even though I always book my appointments. Some girls do a half ass job at painting nails but they do a good mani/pedi. Or vice versa.  Can't have everything I guess. At the beginning they would change my technician without informing me, I would specifically book my appointments with Paz or Rosa and I would end up with the ones who told me they dont do designs, smh. After going there for so long they know not to give me someone else but still, my friends say they've done the same to them recently. It just makes you look bad when you rave about a place but then something goes wrong lolOh and one of the threading ladies can be super pushy. That makes me uncomfortable! I don't know her name, it's not Pam, Pam is more pleasant and quiet. And does exactly what I ask her to do. Overall I feel like it's a pretty good place. I scheduled an appointment in advance for 6:15 over the phone and even got an email confirmation for that time. I got there and they told me it was scheduled for 6:45pm!? I patiently agreed to wait half hour. However, it wasn't until 7:10pm she took me so I waited about an hour instead.  Therefore, I don't know why they even make you schedule an appointment because they don't follow through it! Fanny did my mani&pedi. She was nice and did a decent job but it felt rushed because I was the last one to be there, it was awkward! My wait time was longer than the actual time it took to get my mani and pedi done!!! The lady at the desk was very sweet, she waited till I was drying my nails while Fanny and the other nail technicians left.Overall: The main downside was the wait time, which was longer than actually getting the mani&pedi done!! The setting is very relaxing. There is a decent range of shades. Decent job with the nails for the average price. After I complimented my friend's nails, she recommend that I get the same done at The Nail Loft. Boy, was that a mistake. I got an acrylic full set and my best friend got an acrylic fill-in. As soon as we got out, we both said "never coming back here again." The pros: ample parking and, even though we didn't have appointments, we were seated right away. The cons: the customer service. Rosa did my nails. I sat down and explained that I had come in for acrylic but I wanted to get her opinion on whether I should just do a regular manicure. She had no time for me - no patience whatsoever, but I decided to ignore her because I was graduating the next day and needed my nails done. I explained to her that I hadn't gotten acrylic done in almost 10 years so I had some questions. Every single time she said, "I'm not done yet. I'll fix it later." Anyway, long story short, she did a mediocre job on my nails and paint job. She didn't even file underneath my tips so I had acrylic stuck to my actual skin and nail polish over my cuticles. Two weeks after Rosa did my nails, I decided to go back (only because I couldn't find another place that did acrylic soak-off). When I got to the place, the receptionist - without looking at me, texting on her phone and also tending to her child - mumbled "How can I help you?" Anyway, I take a deep breath of relief when I see that I'm not seated with Rosa. The lady who was doing my nails this time was actually nice, but then she had to leave half way through and they said Rosa finish my nails. I decided to give her another chance. Still, Rosa was rough with my nails, cut me while removing my cuticles, did a poor paint job (it already chipped and I got my nails done 2 days ago) and her attitude is just all around bad. I don't care how nice this place is or how fancy the decor is. I will not be going back to this place and I won't be recommending it to my friends either. Todat was my second time going to the nail loft and my experience was terrible. First I when with my mother in law to get a pedicure. Told the girl at the front what services I wanted which it was the spa pedicure $45 pedicure. She said okay, once we seat down on the pedicure chairs "I asked did she tell you what services we wanted?" She replied "no" I told her. She them when to the front spoke with the woman I already spoke with (the initial woman that okay my service for a... spa pedicure" she return back to me and said "we can't do that, we have other appointments. I was okay with it, a little bother but okay. Yesterday I called and make an appointment for my mother and myself they gave me an 11:30am appointment. I was running late as Kennedy traffic and central traffic Ave was terrible today. I called and told them I would be there 10 min late. I arrive with my mother at 11:45am 5min later than I anticipate, once again traffic was terrible. When I arrive there the same woman from my first appointment was at the front desk. She stated that because I was 15 min late I lost my appointment and they had other appoinments. Please keep in my that with both my mother and my pedicure we would of spend a minimal of $100, for pedicures. This woman was not event trying to make any type of arrangements to have us stay and keep our business. I left there dicusted, not sure if this happen twice beucasue im Hispanic and they were under the impression I had no money to spend or because they don't desire pp, business. Came here for a regular manicure and pedicure. Prices were slightly higher than I could pay elsewhere but it was worth it and still affordable. I was warmly greeted as soon as I arrived which set the tone immediately. I waited a few minutes for a manicurist to be free, so I chose my colors during that time. The polishes looked clean and new-ish, unlike so many other nail salons in this area. My manicurist took her time with my nails and gave me a great manicure. She also did an awesome job with my pedicure, taking her time to clean and scrub my feet. This was definitely the best mani/pedi I've had in the area. I've been going to the nail loft since fall of 2016. I go every two weeks and always schedule my next appointment with the receptionist before I leave the salon. Ever since my first appointment which was with Angelica I've stuck with her and she always does a wonderful job with my tips wether I want a simple color or a design (she's such an artist). Johanna and Aisha the receptionists are always very friendly and offer me coffee or wine. In one occasion when I mistakenly cancelled my appointment online Aisha spoke to the boss and they made arrangements and accommodated me. The facility is very clean and the workers are very nice. They had a large selection of nail polish too. I didn't not like the fact that they charged me $5 for removing my nail polish, and failed to tell me ahead of time. They also charge $3 per nail per design regardless of the simplicity. So I paid $6 for two lines on two nails. These are small amounts that I didn't really care about since their service was great. However, not even two days after I got them done, the color gel on my hands started to turn a really ugly yellow/grey/green color. So the reviews are correct. They do not speak to you when you come in. The lady I got took her time but as you can see she did not do a good job. I asked her to fix my broken nail (thumb) and she claim she did fix it. Assumed because I was looking at my phone that I did not notice she did not put glue on the broken nail down. I allowed her to proceed just to take a pic of what the job looked like a couple days later, because I knew the nail that was never fixed (thumb) would lift up. Also the lady was not welcoming she was cold and borderline rude. Being from California I refuse to accept the "oh that's just how people are on the east coast" She was shocked I tipped her $5 which means either of two things. She did a sloppy job because she expected me as an African American not to tip or she did a sloppy job and was surprised that I was pleased. I love this place! especially the ambiance, I feel very relaxed when I'm there. I have been going to this location since August 2016. They offer you water, coffee, or wine. I am not a "nails done" person, but my hands are on display for work a lot and my natural nails are a mess. Had UV gels done elsewhere one time. When my full appt was cancelled the day before a 10 day vacation, Nail Loft for me in at the last minute. Angelica did my nails and was fantastic. I told her I wanted them short (fingertip length). She was SO attentive to detail, made them a great length, and they were not "fat" like some fake nails can be. Look as natural as fake nails can look. The final result is the most important for me, but other pluses are that there is parking in the back, the place is gorgeous, I can book appointments online, and as far as I can tell the prices are reasonable (I have not exactly done much comparison shopping, haha) Read Less

3.5 stars to The Nail Loft for its couture atmosphere and superb customer service.What I love most about this place is its convenience.  They offer complimentary parking right behind the salon and also allow you to book appointments online!  If you're someone like me who values time this is a good location to try out because they cater to the busy person.The decor is absolutely stunning.  The Nail Loft has an open layout and has a Parisian inspired style with perfectly picked out furniture, wall paper, and a beautiful chandelier hanging in the waiting area.  Along one side of the wall is a variety of gel manicure colors to choose from.  Additionally, they have regular nail color (Essie, OPI, etc.) however I was a bit disappointed with the color choices.  I felt they could have had more of a selection for regular polish colors.A manicure will run you $10 which is average price and a gel is $30.  The salon also offers many services to choose from including spa mani/pedis.  The service itself was good.  Certainly was not the best manicure I've had but it wasn't the worst either.  They skip right over all the extra stuff you usually get from other salons (hot towel, scrub, polish remover a million times, etc.) and get right to the actual manicure.The woman who did my nails was sweet and payed attention to detail.  The receptionist in the front was pleasant as well and explained the appointment bookings as well as the punch card so I knew what to expect upon my return.I'm sold on The Nail Loft because I know this is the place I can go to when I'm on the go.  I'm optimistic that they'll increase their color choices and because of that I will be returning for future manis. I always take my entire experience from making my appointment to exit in consideration when rating. I hesitated coming here for a long time because I'm not familiar with the area or the technicians. I'm happy to say that TNF is everything you want it to be. Excellent customer at the door, beautiful space and a great technician. Thank you Fanny! Booking:I made my appoint online. Simple, efficient. I'm sure you can call in as well. Location:Parking on the street is a challenge but if you're lucky you will score a parking spot in the rear of the salon. I can't believe it's happening... I'm cheating on my regular nail salon. Nail loft is becoming my new regular place... unfortunately my old salon has really gone down hill and fast. I was ready for something new, that new is NL! Came in on NYE and since I didn't have an appointment I had to wait a few minutes to see someone which I was okay with because I was told my wait wouldn't be long. Probably within 15-20 mins I was in a chair picking my color. The reception seems nice and helpful but you can tell she sticks to her guns and appointments, I like that kind of attitude! I was told to sit with Paz who would be doing my gel manicure. She was really quiet which I liked, I'm not one to chit chat during nails visits... I wanna get them done and out. She was so great and by the end we actually did chat. I was really impressed with how long my nails lasted that I had an appointment 2 weeks later and with her again. I've now gone back 3-4 times and am loving the work Paz does- now we even chat most of the session and I don't mind. My gel manicure had been lasting almost 3 weeks and I actually just had a pedicure done recently. Pretty good! Overall I'm really liking this salon, it's gorgeous, closer to home and they have late hours. My only pet peeve is that you really do have to have an appointment. It just makes it easier. I drive from Clifton to get my nails done here because I love it that much and will never go anywhere else! I've haven't had a bad experience as far as wait times go, but then again I usually go during weekday mornings/early afternoons. This is by far the best nail salon I've been to in my young life and here's why: - It doesn't reek of chemicals. Most nail salons I've been smell as soon as you walk in the door. - It's very well maintained and feels so upscale. - I can make my appointments online! - They offer so many color choices and options for your nails! Plus, whatever you want, you get. I can show my nail lady something from Instagram or a Pinterest and she brings it to life. Most importantly to me, she is not rough on my hands/nails (most places I've been to in the past have made my fingers bleed because of how rough they are). - My manicure lasts a long time! - I feel like they make a good effort on being up to date on all nail trends. This is the best nail salon service I have ever been to in my life! I usually do my own nails to avoid nail salons saving salon work for special occasions. I came here to get my nails done for my wedding because of the yelp reviews and I am sooo happy I did! The ladies at the Nail Loft helped find a style, explained to me my options (ie extensions, tips etc), and helped me EVERY step of the way. For someone who knows nothing about nails this was a dream! And finally Susan's work itself was fabulous. I got so many compliments, it was worth every dime. Three weeks later and my nails still look gorgeous despite all that I've put them through! Been here twice & LOVE the place ..this is def. my new nail salon! Susan has done my nails both times and I have no cpmplains, my nails where still good after 4 weeks. The only reason I got them done again was because I just wanted a change if not I think I would of been good for another 2 weeks. The reason why I gave it a number four because there's always something to improve but I tell you is the most beautiful place ever I just feel people can be more loving More intentive to your customers if you really want to win the customers over especially if you are New your competition are Asians and they have customers that are loyal to them for many years you need to always smile and ask if someone wants a drink.. and when someone enters this should be always someone to Greet... the lady who did my nails her name is Paz she won me over only her she was talkative funny and she surely did my nails real nice and I mean perfect something I never could have gotten from the Asians as many different nail place I have been in my life she told me I do peoples nails the way I would like someone to do my nails and she won me for that..... I just left this place and all I can say is I love it. My niece told me I should try it out. LOVE IT. I highly recommend this place. Not only is this place beautiful to the eye but most of all the staff is friendly and professional. Very posh but the prices are awesome. They provide more than just nail services. 2 Thumbs up!!!!
