I have been to this places twice so far AND will never return! The first time I was there was a Sunday around 2 which wasn't so busy and I got a regular manicure. Overall it wasn't a bad experience the woman who took care of me was polite and everything however so did pull out a lot of my cuticles and that was unpleasant for the next few days, but i dealt with it since the appearance of my nails were pretty good.The second time however was on a Wednesday at 6:45 we had an apt at 7 for a total of 3 people and we were all to recieve both a manicure and a pedicure. However this time my experience was awful. We were not taken care of at the same time even though we had an apt. I had to wait for one of my friends to be done before they did my pedicure. And naturally since I am waiting there I watched them do her pedicure prior to doing mine and I noticed right away that I was being rush (the door says they close at 9 yet at 7:20 they rushed my pedicure. I didn't get any of the treatment for my heel as the 2 people i came in with instead the technician was more interested in reading her text messages.Now the Manicure was even worse. My friends were allowed to soak their nails to allow for the cuticles to soften for me however she just sprayed it down and proceeded to cut out my cuticles, I was in shock at the whole process and even flinched a few times as getting your cuticles ripped out like that is similar to manually pulling a hang nail - quite painful. she finishes it all off and basically carried my stuff to the drying area where my friends were getting a shoulder rub but I was just seated as she proceeded to walk away and clean up her station and read texts.Now 10 mins of sitting at the drying station the same technician comes back with plastic wrap and put its on my toes to protect it when I wear my shoes which to me felt like she wanted us out my nails didnt feel dry but she confirmed that it was all good. so I put we all put our shoes on and were on our way a few moments later when I remove the plastic wrap I find the polish on my toes was ruined and so was the polish on my hands. WHAT A WASTE OF $32! I came home and actually removed all of the polish and now I have no polish and painful nail beds! NEVER AGAIN, Go anywhere else but here! Read Less

I have been going here since last few years and it used to be really nice but last couple years I have had a bad experience each and every time I have gone to this place. I promised to never go back to this place after every experience but because of the convenience I kept going back. Went in for a simple pedicure and the woman cut my big toe terribly and kept picking at it. Never once said she was sorry or if I was okay. Once finished polishing she pushed me off to the drying area that I'm sure barely was on because after 15 minutes and my feet being frozen, I asked if they had quick dry or if they could wrap my feet before putting on boots. The woman was nowhere to be found and I have a scab on my big toe. Also got home (I live 5 minutes away) and the polish is completely ruined. Never coming back here!! Super clean, good customer service, great pedicures - but I found Fatima who works at both Newport and Paulus Hook, and I love her. She does my UV Gel with color, it lasts about 2.5 weeks. I've been coming to Polish Me Nail Spa for about a year and a half now! Once I moved to Downtown Jersey City in May 2016 I tried multiple places near my apartment to see if I could find my new nail place. Truthfully after going to a few places Downtown (J Nail & Spa) and getting a mediocre nail job while also being rushed out- I knew it was time to branch out. My friend had been going to Polish Me Nail Spa for awhile so I figured I'd try it out! All of the nail technicians are super sweet- I am always greeted with a smile and they are eager to serve me. This location (in comparison to Paulus Hook location which I haven't tried yet) is tiny, so it is best to make an appointment! I have gotten my nails done by multiple nail technicians there (Ann, Fatima, Elizabeth) and they all do an excellent job. Elizabeth is my favorite to go to- she is great with gel manicures and my nails always stay nicely for two weeks before it's time for a fill! I've gotten pedicures here as well and it was great. I am always out in under an hour and they have an wide variety of colors to choose from. If you want something special they are always willing to accommodate you until you get exactly what you want [mixing colors, designs, etc.] I am excited to try their new Paulus Hook location since it is closer to my apartment, but if I'm willing to take the Path train just to get my nails done then it is obviously a great place! :) Read Less

Coming from NY, I had a hard time finding a nail salon that was close by. I can say that I've tried numerous nail salons around Downtown JC and Polish Me Nail Spa has got to be my favorite thus far. I used to make appointments only because they were always busy (which is a good thing), but lately I've come as a walk-in and never had to wait no more than 15 minutes. Very friendly staff and I've never had a problem with any of their nail technicians as they all know how to do a well job. Even after 3 weeks my nails don't break or chip!I can say that I religiously come here 2-3 times a month for a gel manicure/pedicure and Elizabeth is my girl!!! She's very thorough and pristine. She takes her time with my nails and never fails to make me happy! She makes me look forward to coming in for some relaxation. Moving to a new area has caused one big problem, WHERE DO I GO TO GET MY NAILS DONE. Well, I stumbled upon this place and although my nails came out pretty good, I'm not completely sold. Don't get me wrong, management is great and they have a ton of colors to choose from. Some of my complaints were that the salon is very small (almost uncomfortable) and my gel manicure lasted no longer than a week and maybe a day or two. I've been coming to this salon consistently for over 3 years. Hands down, they do the best gel manicure and pedicure around. I am VERY particular about my nails and color. I have tried many salons in NJ and NYC, and this place is still at the top of my list. My gel manicure lasts over 2 weeks. The owner is very friendly and always ensures customers are being taken care of. Yes, as some reviewers mentioned, there has been turnaround with staff and some of my favorite, friendlier ladies have left. LOVE! I love coming here to get my gel manicure and pedicure. The staff here is friendly and know what they're doing! They work efficiently and get me out the door quickly, which I appreciate. I make sure I make an appointment with one of the girls beforehand so I don't have to wait because they do get busy!They do a great job with the pedicures, manicures and gel manicures, hey are very sterile with the tools and clean. They have a ridiculous amount of colors to choose from from OPI and Essie. The owner makes sure everyone is being taken care of and is extremely nice. They have massage services and waxing services as well. Also, a lady threads eyebrows there too and she's great. The location is small, which is why an appointment is recommended. I used to like this place and now I am ready to uber and leave Newport to get my nails done somewhere else...Very unpleasant employees who seem annoyed all the time (especially Stephanie) I don't see why I would pay for such a low quality service and no customer manners. The only nice peson that I can think of is Elizabeth but most of the times she's busy.On 8/23 I decided to give this place another try. I made an appointment for 8pm showed up at 8:06pm nobody was available. One of the (another unpleasant one) ladies was telling me to come back tomorrow. If you want to wait 30 minutes with an apt only to have someone put you in a chair and almost overflow the water for your pedicure, this is your place. I have NO idea how they have good reviews. This place definitely uses old polish or watered down polish. I went there for the $26 mani/pedi "introductory special."  Everything seemed fine. I had a regular mani/pedi, not gel.  My mani completely chipped 3 days later. Not just chipped, but the polish peeled off of most of my nails. And on the 4th day, my pedi started to chip. I've never had a pedicure chip before 3 weeks. I've just read the Yelp reviews, which I should have done before going, and lots of people complain of the same thing. So I won't be back there ever. I almost didn't try this place because of the comments but it was close to my hotel and I didn't want to walk far. When I walked in, the manager (I believe) was mopping the floor and it was really clean. The chairs are worn and stained, but I didn't see anything wrong. The same lady did my nails and she was EXCEPTIONAL. I've had nails for 30 years and she did a great job, was crazy fast and still managed to be friendly and talk to me. Pros:-Ladies are pleasant-My nails (gel) look greatCons:-Place is gross and unsanitary (I got seated at a dirty station, the lady doing my nails used a towel to wipe down the dirty station and then used that same towel to put my hands on through out the appt, and the way the salon looked overall just grossed me out)-It feels really cramped, the place is tiny -Unorganized/not timely (I had an appt at 2pm and they took a walk-in that came in after me, and didn't start on me until 2:20pm, I saw them do that to another customer that had a threading appt too)-The massage I received on my hands+arms and feet+legs was about 10 seconds (maybe this depends on your technician, but that's literally the part I look forward to the most when treating myself  to a mani/pedi)-I couldn't find a price list hung up anywhere, which makes me think they can fluctuate the prices to whatever they want (outside they had a sign that said $10 off pedicure, they told me the gel pedicure was $40 but how would I know if that's just the normal price and they just made me feel like I got $10 off if they don't have their prices listed anywhere? Sketchy.)*I came here because I had a gift certificate from a friend. My nails look great but I can't stop thinking I might've picked up a disease! So, basically, not worth it. Last time I got a pedicure there, I went to put my shoes on and the one was completely soaked...no idea how that happened but gross. I've been going to this place since they opened because of how close they are to where I live but the standards have only been deteriorating. All the women working here changed, my regular nails lady left too and now the whole bunch are just like a weird clique who constantly talk amongst themselves about the customers. We may not speak your language guys, but it couldn't be more obvious. Not a single person is warm or welcoming. They've never had a long time threading lady. Staff keeps changing. But this isn't even my main problem. I don't care if you're not friendly but god, you have to be CLEAN. A pedicure here last here in January gave me instant warts and 6 months of my life turned into a nightmare when trying to get rid of them. Ending up spending over $300 in dermatologist fees. I decided to never ever go back for mani/pedi but the other day I needed my upper lip threaded asap and I thought, how bad could it be? She's only using a thread after all. The threading lady pointed to several pimples/bumps/warts (I don't know what exactly) on her lips!!!! They put the thread in their mouth when threading you. How can you work when you're clearly infectious? By this time my threading was over and I currently have little white pus filled pimples all around my lip. NEVER AGAIN. Read Less

Let me begin by saying that I am EXTREMELY picky about my manicures (also pedis but not as neurotic as mani). I have been going to the nail salons in the area for years when I finally gave up. Luckily I came across this place on yelp! The staff is super friendly and most everyone has amazing attention to detail. I had Ann today who gave me the best gel mani I've had in a really long time! Unfortunately my experience here was far from great. I couldn't make it to my regular nail salon so I decided to give this place a try. I called in for a manicure and pedicure and was told to come in. I come in and sit in the first chair with Fatima. She asks which color, I pick my color and she asks the tech next to her (Elizabeth) in Spanish why did she take me. The girl (Elizabeth) says well she said she could only come in at 7:30. Not true, she told me to come in at 7:30 so that is why I came in at 7:30. Fatima soaks my gel manicure and sends me away to the pedicure chair. My pedicure lady was very sweet and accommodating but while sitting there I could see the place is falling apart. Floors look like they have severe water damage and there are missing pieces, flys are landing everywhere, cleaning liquids are in plain view, a lot of dust and waste baskets are overflowed with trash. The hot towels are ripped and shaggy. My manicure was next and Elizabeth was my tech. My gel wasn't off completely so she decided it was okay to use the nail drill to take off the remaining gel!!! I turn around and notice they have a Yelp certificate: "Yelp Loves Us!" Yeah, okay. After reading other reviews I don't understand how people rave about this place.
