they profess to know how to do apply powder dip manicure, however KAY did a terrible job. She applied the powder directly to my nails without adding a white powder base. She did not file the powder after she finished applying it but rather she slapped the nail polish over unfiled powder. The end result was messy. My nails broke and nail polish started peeling off 3days later. I’ve had this type of polish applied by angel tips in Long Island for many years and it normally lasts for weeks. The nail is the worst place to go to. They are very expensive and very sloppy. They need to get their employees trained properly! Read Less

I come here a lot and generally am very happy with how my nails come out. I came here today and the moment Monica left, the woman doing my nails started giving me an attitude and stopped caring about what I was asking for. I had to tell her three times how to shape my nails and I had to draw a picture. Not only this but she kept giving me the wrong color polish when I kept asking for white, just a plain solid white color. Her and the woman, Kay, next to her kept bringing me different shades of clear see through white and just kept telling me it would get darker when it dries. I've never had fancy designs on my nails until today. Decided to try out the same one from their Yelp photos and it came out just perfect! Love the color and the lady who did my nails listened every details that I'd asked for. This place doesn't stink with chemicals that i could enjoy my service without headache. I went here for gel manicure. I walked in and maybe waited like 5 mins. They women started working on my nails and filing but she filed a little too much and gave me a cut on my pinkie finger. She apologized for doing it but she kept applying acetone or alcohol to my fingers and it burned so bad. She then switched off with someone else who proceed to apply the wrong nail polish and I tried to tell her but she wasn't listening until I took my hand away. She did over polish, literally it was all of my skin. She used a tweezer to get the extra paint off. Despite everything that happened the gel manicure looked good! I won't lie. Overall the staff was nice, I was there for maybe about an hr for a gel manicure. My gel manicure from here lasted longer than my other nail place. I probably wouldn't go back only because of the pinkie cut. My other nail place usually opens a new file every time they do your nails and this place doesn't do that so I was a little scared that I would end up with a fungus or something. What a ridiculous experience!!!     Went on Saturday to get a full set of tips put on and a gel manicure for a wedding. I explained this to the woman Monica when I entered. I believe she is the manager.     She sent me to an open table where KAY did my nails. She buffed and cut them and then pulled out the gel color. I stopped her and said "Wait I'm getting tips first". She said "yes we do that after." I was very confused. I said again "the tips go on before the color." She stated again it would be after. I said "let me get this straight. You're gunna paint my nails first and then put tips on?" She says yes. I'm like ooook idk wtf this is but let's see.     I was getting ombré nail color that fades from dark blue to white ends. This KAY paints them blue and smudges a little white on the end and says done! I wish I took a picture. My ten year old niece could've done them better. So I ask how the tips can go on now and she looks confused. Her English was not good.     So I call the manager over and explain. She tells Kay in their language and Kay starts getting all mad at me saying "you never said extensions!" I'm like wtf is this a hair salon?? Who says I want nail extensions?? She starts huffing and puffing all mad that she had to remove the gel color to start over. Never apologizes. Then says she won't re do them and sends me to the manager Monica who politely apologizes and does them perfectly!     I was there over 3 hours. They wouldn't give a discount after all that. And btw the prices and services are not listed ANYWHERE. not on their website and not anywhere in the salon. Pretty sure they make up whatever they feel like charging. I had a 1:00 appt. for a mani/pedi but had to wait for a little while for a pedicure chair.  Since I was doing this on my lunch, I couldn't stretch the time to do both services.  Gloria spoke with the owner & she & Kim worked on my mani/pedi together!!  Awesome!!  Both girls did a great job!!!  Salon is clean and comfortable.  Well recommended. This is my new go-to salon ever since my old one hired new technicians (that weren't very good).I'll have to say that Lorena is my absolute favorite! She is sweet and meticulous and really seems to care about getting every detail right. She deserves a five star alone.The other technicians which I don't know by name, are also pretty good but I would definitely ask for a mani by Lorena. I goto the hair salon next door and needed  a very last minute manicure after my hair appt so I stopped in at the Nails and so happy I did.  I have been coming to The  Nails for about 6 months and always feel that they do a great job with my manicure and pedicure. All the techs are very  skilled but Julie stands out. SURPRISE an American who Speaks Korean!! Decent place with all the aminities to enjoy a mani pedi,BUT RUDE STAFF!! So I make an appointment for myself and my hubby,but as soon as I walk in the front station "manager" seemed pissed that it was 2 of us.As she summoned someone to begin my mani.It was a good 10mins. As my husband sat in the pedi chair,that it was ONLY Obvious common sense that I asked if maybe they can allow his feet to soak in the water until someone was available,I had to ask twice until my tech got up with attitude and filled the tub. Mani was decent enough. My husband complained other salons have gotten his nails cleaner.Then when it was time for my pedi I wanted a flat base color with a pearlized top coat,OMG the nail tech couldn't cut my big toe nail straight,or comprehend that of all the designs,etc. people do all kinds of things to their nails, so why two types of polish is confusing to her IDK??!...That's when the "manager" who happen to be the one doing my husband's manicure didn't know all the crap she was speaking to my nail tech simply because I asked for two different polishes,did he finally get fed up with her rudeness and told me what she was saying..HUH??! If you think my simply asking for her to cut my toe nail straight,and choosing the color I want on my nails is unreasonable then "The Nails" obviously dosen't take their Yelp reviews into account for their rude behavior. Im a very picky person when it comes to my nails and hair. I recently moved to new jersey and still traveled to new york to do my nails but one day i needed a pedi and gel manicure and wasnt in the mood to go that far to get it done. I checked yelp and The Nails came up with good reviews! I truly recommened this place. Is very organized, clean and the staff is very friendly. thank God for yelp! after service started going downhill and my favorite nail artist left my old nail salon in Nutley as a result, i was worried i wouldn't find someone quite as skilled at doing beautiful nails as him. and so my search started. but I didn't have to look too far before I found the other reviews for this nail salon on yelp. and once again, yelp never fails!not only did she know exactly what to do with my nails after i showed her the design online, but she barely had to look at it for a couple of seconds and the way that she did them turned out even more flawlessly than what i originally showed her. it's so rare to find a nail tech who knows exactly what they're doing, but she's so far beyond that and gives the term nail artist a new definition! thanks for the masterpiece on my nails! i was so happy that i gave her a big hug before i left - and i'm already looking forward to my next visit! but not before i rock these fab barbie nails to a champagne cruise i'm going on (shh! it's a secret for my mom as a late mothers day gift!) Solid nail salon at a decent price.  Just got my nails done by Monica and pedicure by the guy there. It was efficient and solid.  I decided to go from square tip to rounded on a whim. No reason why.  I just had square tip for two decades.  Lol. But I was trying a new salon in my area. And went with my whim.  I actually loved how it turned out. And for the price and speed, I'd come again.  (They aren't as meticulous as my normal nail tech.  But the price differential for the level I normally get is huge. And my other nail tech takes hours.) So its been a week since I got a gel manicure and a pedicure from The Nails and I must say they did a really good job. I wanted to give it a week before I wrote my review to tell my fellow nail fanatics how they held up. Lets start on how I found this location. My nail salon wasn't able to take me that day because the girl I get wasn't in so I asked if they would honor the $40 deal if I got my pedicure done that day and came back the following day when my nail lady was there. They said they wouldn't honor it even after me being a loyal customer to them for over a year now so I said no problem I'll take my business elsewhere. I looked on yelp for a nail salon near where I work and The Nails popped up along with many others, but this location stood out to me from the rest and I decided to give it a go. I called and made my appointment and arrived promptly. As soon as I walked into the salon I could tell I was in a very upscale salon. The place was spotless, all tools were sterilized and individually wrapped as they took them out of the sanitation station. There was a woman named Lorena prepping my pedicure station as I arrived, I picked out a color from there large selection of Essie and OPI products and sat down. The chair was really nice and comfy with the massage settings on. Lorena took her time with my pedicure I didn't feel rushed at all and we had a nice conversation. As I was getting the pedicure another woman came over and started to soak off my gels on my nails. I really hate the process of soaking them off in those little foil finger wraps so it was nice to have them done the same time as my pedicure to get a head start. Once my pedicure was done I sat down at another station where we started to take off my previous gels and pick out a color. They had a great selection to pick from and I ended up picking a light baby pink. While looking at the color swatches I noticed they do gem accents on nails and asked my nail lady about it and the options. We first thought it would be cool to bling out my entire finger but half way thru I think she could tell I wasn't into it and took them off with no hesitation or attitude which is very hard to come by. We came up with a really cute design that I fell in love with. Now my nails are a week old and are holding up so well! Only one of my gems fell off but I am also very rough with my hands to this is great for me. Other times I have gotten gem accents they never made it past the one week point. Overall I am so happy with this salon and have been recommending it to all my friends and co workers even customers at my job are asking where I get my nails done. Can't wait to come back! Read Less
