I've been going here since I was 14. My mom found me Penny (love love love) when I was 14 to cut off my 12 inch long hair and change me into a woman.Well, okay that's a little drastic. But through my teenager-hood, Penny and the rest of the Make-Up Bar was there to beautify me through everything. Unlike other salons I've been in where everything is preppy and boring, the Make-Up Bar is the watering hole for the Amazon Goddesses of South Jersey. Seriously. They can make you look like a Kardshian with the blink of an eye (And I love the Kardashians, so don't hate.)I haven't done any of their spa treatments ("You can pay for that yourself!!" Says my mother to 15 year old me, yearning for a facial and a pedicure), but as far as hair cuts and make-up, it's my favorite place to go. Like I said, I've known Penny since I was an awkward 14 year old, and she knows my personality and my sense of style and when I suggest something to her she knows how to make it for me instead of just copying a photo. She is the best in the salon for up-dos. I've gotten my hair cut by Jonathan once before when Penny was out of town, and he was good and I see his work when I go in, I definitely recommend he and Penny over everyone else. Lisa is the owner and does makeup/waxing and she is a genius. I wanted to look like a glamazon for my cousin's wedding so I booked an appointment to get my makeup done with Lisa (who I had gone to before for both proms and another family wedding.) I consider myself "fashion forward" and I came in with a beauty shot from a Versace show a few seasons earlier and she mimicked it perfectly, and luckily it was a great compliment to my dress. I was in a wedding a few months laterand had my makeup and hair done by the bride's salon, which turned out fine, (after all, the wedding wasn't about me-- well, at least not outright) but all I kept thinking was "I wish Penny and Lisa were here."It is expensive, I won't lie. But this isn't Hair Cuttery, this is a real salon that can transform you from a tired mess to a polished vixen. Read Less
