Just moved to Berkeley heights. Was recommended by a friend. Went in for a pedi and gel mani. I thought someone was playing a joke on me when the guy started the painting of my toenails. All in all I was sitting for 8 min. My feel looked worse after than before. It was so bad I left with no manicure. It was so bad it was borderline comical. I am in the beauty industry and I feel as if I was judged upon arrival and rushed through. I will never go back nor recommend anyone. Read Less

Just walked out with a pretty sloppy and rushed gel manicure. The tips are painted uneven and some of the edges aren't even painted. I pointed them out and she said there was no problem there and proceeded to file my nail and pretty much brushed me aside.  This is my second time here and the first experience was also a messy gel manicure. Very clean and a calm / friendly atmosphere. I can't vouch for all the nail techs but I go to see Yuni. She is talented, kind, helpful and really cares about what she does. My nails always look great! She's also a licensed esthetician and she does massage...one of the best massages I've ever had and I've had many. Affordable but spa quality. She has really strong hands but is also therapeutic in her technique. I'm usually almost asleep by the time she's done but I also actually feel a difference and relief from my back pain. Terrible. The sign says that they are under new management, so I decided to give them another try. I'm disappointed to report that the manicure and pedicure were terrible. I thought at first that the pedicure was decent, but when I stood up for the manicure the toe dividers slipped out completely and nail polish was all over the place. I asked the tech to fix it, which she did. However, I had to ask her to redo the toe dividers. Next, the manicure. It looks like my 5 year old niece painted my nails! I asked for a very simple, clean manicure with light colored polish and short nails. There are lumps and specks on every single nail and the polish does not even cover the full nail. I asked her to fix a couple of them, then just gave up. Obviously she didn't care. Then, the black light/drying fan did not work. The blowers came on, but no light. I'm certain that the manager saw that I was disappointed and trying to fix things, but she did not even stop by to see what was wrong. Part of me wanted to complain, but decided that taking my business elsewhere was a better solution. My suggestion is for you to do the same and steer clear of this place. This place is not the best but it's close to my house and I've never had to wait so that makes it worth it for me. I am used to salons in the city so the service is on par there. I wouldn't come here if you are looking for spa-like treatment but it serves its purpose! If you have the time, definitely pay a little extra for the spa pedicures that they do in the back chairs. I always get the green tea and I think being in the back where it is quiet and there are less fumes is definitely worth it. Read Less

I wouldn't recommend. They seem like they dilute the polish a ton. It is always so thin and see-through! My sister had one of the males do her mani/pedi last week and he was so rude (definitely didnt make for a pleasant and relaxing experience and she was dissapointed). Also, not many gel color options in comparison to surrounding salons. Lastly, a customer next to me was upset one time I was there because her gel polish didn't match the number she chose on the board thing. It was a very obviously a different shade. They basically told her sorry no, its the same. It really did not appear to be at all! The only reason I went here again was because I had a gift card, and the manager literally looked pissed when I paid with it...no eye contact whatsoever. Read Less

Not impressed.  I asked to see the gel colors and was not offered many - just the ones she wanted to use (shellac).  Wanted a gray and clearly there were options  but this tech wasn't interested in showing more than one option.Very quick sloppy manicure.  Her filing was rough and the manicure overall has a few issues.  Lesson learned - not going back. Monday (President's Day) was by far the worst experience I've ever had at a salon. My daughter and I both went to Nail It, on our rare day off, for Spa pedicures ($40 each) that were rushed, not relaxing at all and poorly done. I also got a gel manicure which was also rushed and the cuticle removaI was actually painful. I did not realize how bad my pedicure was until after the manicure was done when I actually had a chance to look at it. I had polish all over my skin and it was missing from the side edges of the nails, looking incomplete and my pinky toes looked as if a 5 year old had done them. I asked for them to be fixed and the manicurist came over and clumsily tried to remove the polish from my skin. I also told her the whole pedicure was bad and she said they'd redo it. I told them I was not willing to stay there any longer and  asked that they discount the pedicure so I'd be done and out. WELL, that's when the woman behind the counter (probably an owner) went ballistic, yelling at me. She said she didn't understand what I was talking about and said the job was PERFECT (yes she actually used the word perfect) and I was trying to get out of paying. She kept on screaming causing the biggest scene ever, pointing out to the other customers there that they only care about the almighty dollar and customer service is non-existent. Everyone was staring at her in which seemed almost like fear and astonishment. She continued on and on, embarrassing herself by raging; it was almost comical. During her tirade, two customers came up to me and asked to see my nails. They said they've also had bad experiences there before and walked out without having a service done saying they would never be back. After this continued for several minutes the woman finally, but reluctantly agreed to a discounted price but threatened to call the police and said never to come back there. Can you imagine?? As my daughter and I left, there was another woman waiting outside to talk to us agreeing that they are the most unfriendly, money hungry group ever with zero customer service and taught to rush through customers at whatever cost and move onto the next.Needless to say, we won't be going back nor will the 3 people who were outraged by the treatment we received. I'm sure other customers felt that way too. I urge you not to go there and save yourself the unpleasantness we experienced. Read Less

This is by far the worst nail salon I've ever been to. They lack professionalism and the people who work there have no training or skill. I made an appointment to get a manicure and pedicure and was denied services because only one person knew how to do the manicure I wanted. After many trips here I realized that my points card was getting me absolutely nothing. They claim that each dollar spent accrues points and then you receive rewards. This was definitely not happening... The card was a scam. Today I had a gel manicure removed and received a new one. They soaked my fingers in a bowl of acetone nail polish remover instead of wrapping the nails in foil and nail polish remover. Then I noticed the owner pour the contents of the bowl where my fingers were soaking into a large bottle of nail polish remover. He used a strainer to remove the chips of nail polish that had come off out of the liquid. This was not for disposal! Obviously they are REUSING the nail polish remover! Gross....  no more trips back for me. They are pretty rude there also. Read Less

The only redeeming quality is...come to think of it, can't find one. Came in for a gel manicure. Only color selection was Shellac. I left bleeding on 2 fingers and peeling within 3 hours. Employees were not friendly or welcoming but had to go back the following day to have it fixed. they acted like it was my fault somehow and managed to cut me again! Just came in for a pedi and was taken care of right away, so that's always great. Looks like they have a large enough staff to accommodate big parties, so keep this place in mind for bridal parties. That being said, I found the experience leaving much to be desired. It was just a marginal effort, and only slightly better than what I could have done myself. This place can get busy quick especially on a weekend. When they are busy they do try to get through your mani/pedi rather quick only so the person waiting doesn't have to wait forever, which is great when you're the one waiting too!  This place is really all about who you get. I've had fantastic feet and leg massages during my pedi and I've had some not so great ones. Same with the neck massage at the end of the mani. Most of the time I can get 3 weeks out of my gel manicure, but sometimes they've only lasted a week or so. Again, it comes down to the luck of the draw with who you get. Also some of the pedicure massage chairs don't all work, which is a bummer if you get seated there. Overall I keep coming back, it's usually a quick, but decent place. Horrible horrible experience. I had called 3 weeks ago to ask if they take Mother's Day reservations and he told me yes - so I asked him what time was best, he told me 3:30. I called two days before Mother's Day to confirm the appointment and he assured me yes, you are all set. We show up and of course it is packed, as its Mother's Day, so that is to be expected. We are okay to wait a couple minutes. 30 minutes go by. He seats other people (walk ins), before he starts to sit my family, so I go to the front desk to see what is going on. He laughs at me, tells me to calm down (and let me tell you - I was actually quite reserved for what he SHOULD have received from me!) and I said I am calm...in fact I was very calm when I arrived in time for my appointment and now that its 30 minutes later, I am a little less calm that is for sure. I think the bottom line is that his customer service was horrendous. He just kept smiling and laughing and using his hands to say calm down and would walk away. I understand it was Mother's Day and they were busy, but he should have told me they don't take reservations when I called 3 weeks ago. I would have gone elsewhere. OR since he took the appointment, he should have kept the seats empty around 3:30. Restaurants do it all the time - so we know its possible. Lastly, he could have at least acted like a manager, and been empathetic. Apologized for the mix up and made every effort to rectify the situation - but he did none of that. Just laughing and walking away. Horrible. And I will say others there had similar experiences - another mother/daughter duo that had an appointment were told to come back in 10 minutes, and when they did, they were pushed back AGAIN. Another woman thought her name had been written down on his walk in list and realized 20 minutes later that it was not. And the entire time, the manager and another female in charge had zero compassion and were rude the whole time. The price is cheap, so that is nice - but with such horrible service, its not even worth the trip. Pedicures are an extra that we pay for to relax...when you have such a nasty experience, as we did; it takes away from the relaxing time. I'm not very experienced in mani's and pedi's and I've only gone to an expensive salon once to get them done. This is your typical nail salon in the Berkeley heights area. Its nothing fancy but it does the job, and in my opinion, it's done pretty well. There are cheaper salons if that's what your looking for but I got a pedicure for a reasonable $20. A nice foot, calf, and shoulder massage were included. I will be going back for my toes when the weather improves. Read Less

Went to Nail It for 3 months for French manicure shellac nail treatments. Instead of soaking old polish off they rush the process and sand the shellac - and the nails - down to the base.  After three months all of my nails were so thin that they broke even with shellac. 6 months later I'm still waiting for the damaged nails to grow through.
