I have been going to this salon on and off for many years, for hair services and spa treatments.  Today I went with my daughter for a massage and it was a horrible customer experience.  When I booked the appointment they were running a special for a exfoliation and mask, I was told it would be included in my massage appointment booked a couple of weeks away.  I called to confirm our appointment and the inclusion of the special, I was told it was all set.Upon our arrival there was a lot of confusion around the exfoliation and mask that were part of the special being offered when I booked the appointment.  My daughter was given a mini facial instead of the exfoliation and mask special and I was then charged for the mini facial at check out. The owner came over and was extremely rude and offensive. She refused to look me in the eye, told me the special was only good for the day it ran and that I should have read the "fine print".  She continued to argue with me and said I could write a yelp review and did not care that I was a returning customer.  I asked her stop arguing with me but she would not stop stating that I should have read the fine print.  I should not have had to read the fine print, it should have been explained to me when I made the appointment. In the end she did remove the charge but it was a terrible experience.I will not be returning to this spa, nor will I continue to recommend it to family and friends.  I have seen a major decline in the quality of services offered. This year we decided to hold our company holiday party at Soleil. Luisa and her team provided us excellent service from A to Z. They were great at helping us set up the services for our guests. They were very helpful at working with the caterer for food set up and provided top notch food and drink service throughout the day. We loved that they brought in Aveda Reps for extra services and provided chair massages.Every detail was attended to all day long. Had a wonderful first visit and experience with Emily. Went in for a simple trim and blow dry and got a complimentary temple massage. The staff was very kind and accommodating and the prices are very fair given the service you receive. I will definitely be back! After dying my hair black for 7 years I decided it was a time for a change. I've never had a positive experience at a salon before until I came here. I met with Sasha and we discussed my options to do a blonde balayage. She made me feel much better and more comfortable with doing such a dramatic change. She explained that it would be a multi step process but she would be happy to do this for me. After a 4 hour appointment my black hair was gone and I was on my way to blonde. After this first appointment I had a few more appointments to lighten my hair. Every time I went into the salon I've had nothing but great experiences. Sasha really knows what she's doing and she is so creative! I 100% trust her recommendations. I am so happy I decided to go for a dramatic change and my hair is exactly how I wanted it, thanks to Sasha. Since I had such a great experience I decided to get a facial. Jessica Stamper was able to take my brassy, lifeless ombré and turn it into a beautiful blonde ombré instead. It is blended now and looks natural I was a little nervous when it came to color because she is a master barber, but after having her work on my hair I feel silly for ever being worried. Very poor experience, my stylist was 1/2 late. The receptionist did not say anything to me at all, my stylist just wanted to sell me something , barley talked to me at all. I saw that this salon had a dry bar so I decided to make an appointment to have my hair washed and dried into curls for my maternity shoot. My appointment was with Michelle. When I got there she took me right away and we talked about what I wanted and she said ok and took me to wash my hair. When she has blown out a strand of my hair Louisa came by asking if she can help. They whispered something and Michelle left to finish a color treatment on another client. Louisa blew my hair out however never asked me what I wanted. Michelle seemed more concerned about her coloring and told Louisa volume and curls. When Louisa was done she had given me a bouncy blow dry. While nice, it was not what I had spoken to Michelle about. Louisa then told Michelle you better curl her hair so Louisa finished off Michelle's other client. Now another stylist came over to help Michelle curl my hair. When they were both done there was tons of pieces of my hair that weren't even curled. Michelle told me that I needed to come in and get layers done so the curls would fall better. I told her that I've had layers and I do not want them. Besides I came in for curls and not a hair cut. When I checked out I was extremely unhappy with how my hair came out. I told them I would need to go home and fix my own curls. They offered to fix it but I had to be someplace else in 20 minutes and couldn't stay. Besides the fact that it took an 1 and half to do half a$$ terrible curls. I almost booked a makeup application session and so glad I skipped that. They apparently don't know what a dry bar is and shouldn't be offering those services. Please go to Boston's dry bar so you know what a real dry bar offers. I didn't feel as if my hair stylist listened to anything I said to her. And they did not book my appointment long enough. After she messed up my color the first time, they had to re do it while she was styling and cutting several other people's hair. I do feel as if I have been over charged (170 dollars!!?&@) and I did not even get the hair cut I asked for. She barely did anything with the cutting. I can't tell if I'm more upset with myself for leaving and letting them rob me of that much money, or if I'm more upset with this business for allowing something like that to happen. Read Less

I love Sasha! She took me from at home box black and pink to a gorgeous caramel blond. She took her time and got my hair to look fabulous! Sasha recommended great Aveda products to help my hair with the damage and breakage issues (self induced, mind you). She was super informative and told me each step that we were doing to my hair and what the possible outcomes with the pink. She was very kind and professional. I have been coming to Soleil for years and plan on continuing to do so! I go to Soleil for hair appointments and although the owner, Luisa, is not my hairdresser, she knows me by name and is always friendly and attentive to make sure I am comfortable. Luisa has built a relaxing and organic retreat for her clients. The ambiance feels very comforting and natural. No matter how small the service you leave with the feeling of having been at a spa retreat. Kudos, also, to Emily for always giving me great color and cuts! I had a wonderful experience at Soliel, with the front desk, the color, hilites, cut and blowdry with Louisia! Then I was relieved from my extreme muscle tension in my back, neck and shoulders by and experienced and fantastic deep tissue massage therapist, Joseph. I am new to the area and have had trouble finding a good salon. I used to go to an Aveda salon back in NY so I knew I liked the product. I got Hollis as my stylist. She was great! She listened to exactly what I wanted and delivered! We even set out a plan for what we can do for my next visit to go darker! I will definitely be back! Two small reasons why I didn't give 5 stars. First, they don't let you tip on a credit card. That's fine, but I feel they should tell new clients on the phone. I had to leave to go to an ATM down the street and it was a pain to get to with all the construction going on! Second, when you get there, you fill out a little paper asking if you want to add some services and also to pick a complimentary treatment for new clients  (hand massage, scalp, etc). All I can say is WOW! I have been going to Salon Soleil for almost 3 years now and I am obsessed! Stacey has been helping me maintain my bleach blonde hair and I am always blown away by how amazing my hair comes out every time. For my wedding, I knew I had to have Salon Soleil there to make sure all my bridesmaids and myself were looking our best. Stacey, Emily, and Teghan were there to make sure we all had AMAZING hair. All of my bridesmaids were so happy with how their hair... styles came out. And mine was absolutely perfect. I can't imagine going anywhere else for my hair care needs. Not only was my hair amazing on my wedding day, but all three girls went out of their way to help me out with soo many other things. They were basically my assistants when I needed them. Loveeeee this place!!! Don't let the bad reviews change your mind. I found this place by looking here on yelp. I was very nervous of getting my hair done, I find it so hard to find someone that actually knows what they are doing. This place is awesome! I walked in with a picture of what I wanted to get done and at the front desk they were able to tell me roughly how much it would be, they were able to see me right away. They took my coat and offered me some yummy tea! I was introduced to my hairstylist her name is Emily. She was very sweet and nice and paid full attention to me. She asked the right questions and got right to work. From the moment I walked in I felt like I was in the right place, very relaxing. I got balayage done with a trim and I loved the results!!!! I am new to the area with all my previous salon/spa services provided in Boston (Newbury St) and/or Wellesley.  I admit that I'm a bit spoiled and was concerned about finding comparable quality in the Windham/Salem area.  Now that I have had numerous services at Soleil, I am telling my friends to forget Newbury St and come here.My difficult hair (complete with that annoying gray root invasion) has been revitalized (I know, an over used term, but it REALLY applies here): base color plus 3 high and low lights, and a cut that has received numerous complements and is lasting great.Realizing my wonderful find, I then had some skin care treatments with Victor;  now I am schedule to see him at least once a month because my skin is looking and feeling remarkably improved.You will not be sorry for choosing to Soleil. I haven't had the opportunity to experience this salon. I've called multiple times to make an appointment and every time they are too busy to let me make an appointment. On the one hand it's a good sign that they are always so busy but on the other don't they have a designated receptionist or want new clients? I'm new to the area and need to get my hair done and can't spend an entire week waiting by the phone for them to call back (yesterday they said they'd call me back in 5 minutes same the other day..)Hopefully the other salon I called will work out... Overbooked, sloppy, hectic, & bad customer service.We have been going here for over a year, because it was the closest Aveda salon, but I give up. They are constantly over booked, which has forced us to wait sometimes 30-45 minutes after our appointment time.I typically only see the owner, but her focus is everywhere & she has become very sloppy. Every time I leave I have die all over my face.  I have asked politely several times to make sure I don't leave with die on my face and each time everywhere... Incl. my cheek, nose, neck, ears, etc.The last time I got my hair done before a big event I was speaking at out of the country the owner was gone, but swore her replacement would be a perfect fit. Well over two weeks later I am still dripping red die all over my clothes, towels, pillowcases, & rugs.As a regular customer I called when I got back in the country, assuming they would fix me right up, but still weeks later no apology, call, email, etc. from anyone at the salon.I am currently sitting in a different nice relaxed Aveda salon down in Boston, where I used to go before moving to New Hampshire. Well worth the drive. And without me saying a word he wiped all the die from around my hairline prior to leaving my color to set & without fail again while washing my hair. :) relaxing, cared for bliss... I was going to a wedding in the area and was looking for a place that did blow-outs for a reasonable price. Based on my research and reviews, I was chose Soleil.My hair turned out fabulous. Looked great, straight with curls toward the bottom. It last long and was a hit. If I were just reviewing the hair, it would be 5/5! However, the lady who did my hair was not pleasant. I've never had a hair dresser who gave an unfriendly vibe until now. There was also another girl helping and she kept telling her she was doing the curls wrong and acted annoyed when she actually had to show her the right way...I thought it looked great either way done!I feel as though when I revealed I was from out of town they didn't bother getting to know me because they'd figure they wouldn't see me again. After the cold shoulder I don't really feel welcome to if I'm in the area.  It was like when I tried to talk about what I wanted,the stylist looked like she could care less. So all in all it was good hair and customer service was good up until I sat in the chair. Emily helped me fix a terrible dye job mere days before the wedding, and then gave me a terrific style that lasted well past midnight on the big day, and Lisa Marie did a beautiful job with makeup! This spa is wonderful. Not the most peaceful I've seen, but still nice atmosphere... Plus their Avedo tea is amazing. The prices are about average for spa services, and we were even lucky enough to find a groupon! The employees were excellent, very attentive and eager to please, almost to a fault. I wish they hadn't given me the hard sell to buy their products the whole time though, it really took away from the experience as I felt I was making purchasing decisions the whole time. I should have known this place would be a disaster when I made the appointment. The girl who scheduled my appointment could barely speak English and gave me wrong pricing. But here is a lowdown on the other more important details:The salon itself- tacky tacky tacky. It comes across as trying wayy too hard. It looks like pier 1 imports and punky brewster puked. Mix matched neon colors, crazy patterns, just awful. I am all for eclectic design, but it must be put together in a way so that the pieces are bold yet complement each other.. This salon failed to do that. It just looks cheap. Or like whoever designed it ran out of money. The hairdresser- I saw Sasha. She was late. I was her first appontment of the day and she arrived 15 minutes late. No apology or excuse or anything. She also looked like a mess. Completely unkempt and had disheveled hair. If you work in the business of making others beautiful then you better look the part! Her eye makeup reminded me of something a drag queen would wear. It was hard to take her seriously. Most of the other hairdressers in the salon seemed more put together, so I really think it was just Sasha looking like a train wreck. Her overall demeanor was rude and she interrupted me a lot. She also did not listen to very specifc instructions I gave on how I wanted my hair cut. I even brought a picture to show her. When she asked if I liked it, I told her "No" and then showed her the picture and told her it looked nothing like my hair. She did not even apologize! Oh and don't get me started on how she washed my hair!!! Good Lord I thought she was going to kill me! First she yanked her fingers through my hair so hard I screamed! Then she had the water soo boiling hot I asked her to turn it down and then she did this massage on my scalp so hard that it felt like she was purposely trying to be rough. There is no way on Earth she thought that was enjoyable!! She then continued to yank my hair while blow drying it and I asked her to stop. She said "I am rough when I blow dry hair".. Ummm what?!? The checkout- No one ever informed me that they do not allow for tips to be added to a credit card, and so I wasn't prepared to bring cash. BUT more importantly- after that debacle (they agreed to allow me to add a tip to my card), THEY LOST MY COAT!!!! They do not have any kind of system to keep track of who's coat belongs to who's..
